What A Nice Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was pretty fun. We went back to my wife’s grandparent’s house and had a nice time. Friday night we kind of celebrated our sister in-law’s birthday. So her little family came over and we had ice cream cake and board games. Their little boy Carter was there and was trying to give Everett hugs, but it was a bit aggressive. When Everett would try to crawl away he would try pushing on his back until he kind of fell flat. We didn’t quite care for that so we stopped it pretty quick. We don’t want Everett to not want to play with others because of something like that or not want him to like going back there.

The boys were fine other wise. Here is carter “helping” us put Everett to sleep.

The next day we woke up and had some breakfast. I got up at about 5am, because I had wine the night before. Don’t ask me why, but when I have even a little bit to drink I am wide awake early! So I was able to catch the sunrise, while everyone was asleep. πŸ˜€

Everett had his bottle, and then some Greek yogurt. If you follow me on Instagram you probably already saw his before and after photos haha. This one happens to be an after photo.

Later my mother in-law stopped by to bring him this toy to play with. He really enjoyed it, even though the batteries were dead. XD

Since he is on the move he found this chair, that normally has a teddy bear sitting in it. So I moved that and put him in its place. I think it fits just right!

We took the time to talk about the whole house situation and moving back, and it didn’t turn out super well. We ultimately would like to move back and be there, but it may not be in the cards. Her grandfather is not sure he could get a loan for a house, due to his age. This means that we wouldn’t, probably, be able to put one down since we already have a new mortgage. I don’t think the bank would give us more. He did offer to give us $25K for a house, or I’m assuming anything we would need to move back, which is tempting and nice. It just may not be enough, or at the right time for us to be able to make it happen. I may call the bank and see what they think, and have them explain bridge loans, and explain when payments would start in the instance of putting down a home, rather than buying one out right. This assuming we could get any money. Who knows, but it is looking like we may just stay where we are and pay our mortgage down and sell when we find the right place near us, or try moving back there again.

Saturday afternoon we came back home and just kind of unwound. We weren’t seeing eye to eye on the big discussion, about the housing dilemma, so we just took our space and chilled. Sunday we spoke about it when we were calmed down and ready to listen to each other, and everything went pretty smooth. Again we still don’t have a real final decision but we are getting there.

Everett was up pretty much all day Sunday, and ready to move. Don’t mind my awful hairline, rather focus on the happy baby on my shoulders haha.

We were gifted some shoes from our sister in-law so it was time for Everett to try some on. I don’t think he was too big of a fan but he seemed to be fine.

We spent the rest of Sunday cleaning the house, doing laundry, and getting groceries. It was pretty relaxed, just the way we wanted it. I was able to mail in our taxes today, and scan all the documents into my PC yesterday. I also organized my letters from Abel in a scrap book, that way I can keep the hard copies to look back on hopefully in 8 years when he graduates from the program. πŸ˜€

That is all for me today. I hope you had a great weekend, and I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Quick Weekend Update!

Hey Everyone!

I’ll have to be quick today. I have a dentist appointment right after lunch haha.

I randomly got this picture in a group text from my grandmother. They stay down in Florida during the winter and apparently dress up like this for some reason lol.

They stay healthy down there and have fun. What ever floats their boat is ok with me. πŸ˜€

Everett had a play date, kind of, on Saturday. My wife’s co-worker came over to get pictures done of her daughter, and when they were done the kids just hung out. She is a month younger and just as big as Everett. They look to have had a good time though, at some point they lost their clothes haha, not sure for what reason. Cute either way.

I think there is some young love blossoming here πŸ˜‰ We had a couple fires in the fireplace this weekend, and watched the Olympics when we could. I saw some of my favorite, Curling, and Biathlon. I missed the men’s snowboard, but saw the women’s. It is so fun to watch all of these athletes compete. I’ll continue to watch what I can.

In other news I found a really cool Pixel Art game on my phone.

You can find it here on the app store: Here!

Here on android: Here!

That is all for me I hope you had a great weekend! I’ll see you tomorrow. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend Update!

Hey Everyone!

Our plans for Saturday didn’t happen. We were going to go back to see my wife’s family and that all fell through. We spent the day at home, doing a bit of everything.

Sunday was similar up until dinner. We headed over to my parent’s house. It was Super Bowl Sunday and my parents always throw a party. Nothing crazy, just some family and what not. We, as I have stated before, weren’t going to stay for the majority of the game. We got there early and let everyone spend some time with Everett and all that good stuff. My brother and his little family came and my niece Rory had some nice little pig tails in.

Here is her and my dad putting her baby doll in the play set.

Her she is again trying to give Everett her doll. He was clearly watching the TV or someone else in the room lol.

Rory is sitting with my dad in this one talking with my Aunt.

We had homemade pizza and plenty of snacks. There was everything from veggies, to chips, venison balls, and brownies. We stayed a bit later than we planned, but I figured that would happen once people were there. It was a good night. We got home at a decent time and put Everett to bed around 9pm.

My wife has the week off to burn some vacation time. If she doesn’t use it she loses it so why not right? She sent me this picture of Everett playing in the new jumper I bought him Sunday.

He really seems to like it. The three buttons by the globe speak in English, Spanish, and French. It is a nice learning tool for that age. All sorts of things make noise on that thing haha.

So now I’m stuck at work while they are home all week. 😦 Oh well. I have to do what I have to do I suppose! That is all for me today. I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend & Dilemma

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was fun. Friday and Saturday I was put in charge of watching my parents dogs while they were out of town. They took a nice trip to Pittsburgh and seemed to have a nice time.

Saturday was rather boring and not very productive. The weather was getting better but it was still to crappy to go do anything. We stayed in and had a nice relaxing day.

Sunday my wife’s mother and grandparents came for a visit. It was her grandpa’s birthday and today is her grandmother’s birthday. We celebrated by going to Applebees for lunch/dinner. While we were waiting for our food to arrive Everett was able to get his first taste of lemon. It was quite funny, and luckily I was able to get it recorded for your enjoyment!

He ended up gnawing on that for about 10 minutes once he got used to it haha. Afterwards we headed back to our hose and had some cheese cake.

There is the birthday duo!

My wife and I have also found ourselves in a bit of a situation. She currently doesn’t like her job and wants to pursueΒ  her photography. I am happy to be working in IT in most any fashion, so long as it provides a stable income. Our current living arrangement would not allow for her to leave her job and pursue this dream. My salary alone could not afford our current living arrangement. So there in lies our issue. For her to be able to do what she would love to do something has to change. Her grandfather has offered us a few acres of land, that we could have, and we could build on that land. The catch is, is that it is in the middle of no where, where we lived before (about 1.5 hours away) I would have to find another job and leave the very stable one I have now. I would want another job where I can still afford everything I normally do, and maybe more now that I have a few years under my belt. She may be able to continue her current job until we can finish putting a house down, then pursue her photography. We would save money on a smaller house, but have the style we want. We would save again because her mom would watch our kid for free. We also would have total freedom of that land and wouldn’t have terrible neighbors as well! πŸ˜€ (big bonus)Β  It would just be a matter of everything lining up and pulling the trigger. To be honest it scare me a lot because I have grown to like to current situation and security within my job. To leave that worries me. I want to make sure I still can save money for retirement and for Everett. I don’t know if any of this will happen, but I do know we like that area better, and would be happier there. This one is tough. :/

That is all for my update. I hope you all had a great weekend! I’ll see you tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

PS. Almost forgot, Everett is 8 months old today! woo

What A Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This has been a quick but full weekend. It was pretty fun, but that always means that it will go to quick.

Saturday morning started very normally. We got up had coffee, breakfast, and watched some local news. Everett was safely playing in our make shift area haha. Don’t mind the dog’s ass πŸ˜‰

All was well and good. Later that day is when it got interesting. I went in to work with my co-worker to replace an old network location. It was out in the shop up on a mezzanine. I wasn’t able to get a shot of it all whole so here is the first one I took.

Pretty messy right? Ya, we thought so too. Once that was done we pulled it off the wall and that is when the fun began.

Our goal was to make sure that none of the fiber lines broke, make sure we knew where everything was supposed go again, and put it all back together nice and neat in this new rack.

This is when we we getting close to being done. As you can tell it is getting dark. We have the switches at the top and patch panels below that. Further down we have a shelf for out laptop and a new battery backup at the bottom.

I had my co-worker send me a picture once he tidied up a bit. It is all up and running well today.

The reason I had to leave, just before it was finished was because we were celebrating my little brother’s 28th birthday. It was at the local bowling ally, where were had our whole family gathered and ate pizza and wings.

Everett wanted to keep score with my dad and older brother, that is until he ripped the sheet haha.

Notice that the corner of the sheet is gone in the next one and that he seems quite happy with himself haha.

Later, after we played two games the birthday boy and his daughter got to go down to the end of the lane so she could try to hit the pins. The zoom sucks but it was a cute moment. We know the guy who runs the ally so he was cool with it all.

We packed up and went to my parents house where we had ice cream cake from the DQ! That is always a bonus.

Everett was content with a pad of paper. Not sure why he is into such weird stuff.

That was it for Saturday. As for Sunday we got some work done around the house. I shoveled the side walk. It was a lounge type of day since it was so busy Saturday. I was fine with the day ending like that, but it didn’t. Everett’s cough came on fast and barky. We dropped everything we were doing at about 4:30 and ran him to the local clinic, only to find out that they don’t see children that young. (Side note: That is F*cking stupid) Anyway, we called another clinic about 30 minutes away and were able to get him in there just fine. He has croup again, and they prescribed him a steroid. So great, we thought it would be better from there. It wasn’t, we took him home and gave it to him and he threw up instantly. We tried again after eating this morning and he instantly threw up his whole bottle. My guess is that he is allergic. He is back at the babysitter today and we are going to push through it. I think we go see our new pediatrician in a couple days for a follow up, so I’ll letΒ  you know how that goes.

We slept on the couch last night since Everett went down last night refusing his bottle. We didn’t want to wake him again, for fear of him not going back to sleep. Needless to say, but we are a little tired today haha.

Work is going well, the only down side is seeing the snow piling up today. I’ll have about 6-10 inches to shovel again after work. I try to think of it as a workout haha.

That is all for me, I hope you all had a great weekend. I’ll see you again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Normal Thursday!

Hey Everyone!

We had another quiet evening at home last night. Everett slept a bit better last night so that was nice. I was even able to squeeze in a a few games of Rainbow 6.

Tonight our new plumber comes I hope he quotes us lower than the other guys. Fingers crossed.

Everything else in life is slow going, it seems. All projects are on hold for monetary reasons. Soon to be weather reasons as well haha. We are still hoping to have the basement waterproofed this spring, and I would like to spray our fence with stain this summer. This of course on top of finishing up the garage.

This weekends plans have been expanded. Sunday we are going to my wife’s families place to get a few pictures of Everett with his cousin Cater. We will double up and get some family shots as well. This being said I need a hair cut badly, after my botch job from the time before. You know, when I looked like Jim Carey from Dumb and Dumber! haha πŸ˜€ It is funny now but man was it awful in the moment.

I have started watching the first season of Travelers on Netflix. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet but it could grow on me. If it does I hope that they keep making more seasons of it. With my luck I will like it and then it will never be renewed.

That is really all I have for today. That is the thing about a real life blog, is that not every day can be full of fun and entertaining things. That is too bad huh?

Anyway I’ll be back tomorrow morning for “Coffee Talk” I’ll see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend Roundup!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was spontaneously more fun than first planned. We honestly didn’t have any plans. Friday we stayed in, made dinner, put up the new Christmas tree,Β  and watched Netflix. I know it is a bit early but we just bought it and there is no reason to store it for a couple weeks and get it back out. Everett was intrigued to say the least.

Saturday we cleaned up around the house and lounged for a while. My brother and his family came over to help me move the stove out of the way, so my wife could park in the garage. He was also there to collect the money for the gift we all went in on for my mom.

After they we went and got groceries, and thought about what we could do the rest of the day. We had a light bulb turn on in our heads, game night! First we gathered intel on whether or not people even wanted to. Once we had the interest we got a hold of my parents, my brothers family, and my other brother who also brought a date. We had successfully had eight adults and two babies over for game night. We played a game called Telestrations. It is like the traditional telephone game except instead of whispering to each other you draw a picture and the next person has to guess what you drew. by the time it gets to seven people the word you started with is not what you ended with. It is quite comical. I failed hard at getting a picture. This is mostly in part due to the fact that no one other than my wife knows that I run this blog. So they see me snapping pictures and think I’m really weird.

My parents bought chicken wings for us to eat for dinner and we all sat at the table and had a nice meal. This was also the first time any of us met my older brother’s date. Her name is Taylor, and she fit right in. They seem like a good fit and I hope that it works out the best way it can. He deserves someone in his life and she could be that someone.

Sunday we did stay in. I played a few video games, we watched Netflix and later watched some NFL games. My wife isn’t a fan so I’m sure she didn’t have the best time through that haha.

Today we are dealing with internal struggles about finances. We have a sewer main pipe that is busted and in need of repair. I want to have it done before the snow really sticks. It is costly and we don’t have the money in hand. They will accept credit cards and that may be the way we go, but I don’t want to back myself into a corner I can’t get out of. I think realistically that we can do it it will just take some time to pay off. We are hesitant because we are trying to have the whole basement waterproofed this spring which will cost a real pretty penny. On top of this with winter coming and having to trade vehicles with my dad I want a snow blower to clear our driveway, but of course a new one is about $500 for a small one. This would all be OK if there were happening one at a time but they will all run together and ruin my stress levels haha.Β  So to counter act that and end this post here are two pictures my dad sent me from way back when. (I’m the one with dark hair)

Here I’m sitting with my older brother, while he reads books. I was about three in these.

Here is one of my little brother and I at the local barber shop.

So this was 1991. Enjoy! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend Update!

Hey Everyone!

I was unable to have a “Coffee Talk” on Friday. We, very oddly enough, were busy at work on a a Friday morning.

That being said I had a productive work day, and a great weekend. Saturday we tried our best to get some good sleep in. We didn’t have anything to do until we left around noon. Of course we got up and played with the babe. We left around noon to go back to my wife’s hometown. We would spend the day with her grandparents. Before that though we stopped at her dad’s house. This was to of course see them, and to get Everett his very first hair cut. Yes it has only been 5 months, but he came out with a head full of hair and it had to happen.

Here is Everett sitting with his grandfather and uncle! I think this was right before he got his hair cut. I don’t have a great before and after picture but it was a big difference.

Here is him after the hair cut.

His neck line is now all shaped up, and his hair around his ears is all trimmed nicely. He looks like a real little man haha. So cute.

I also got to spend some time with my little brother in-law Remington! Hes a handful. I introduced him to being tossed in the air and after that he never left my side haha.

Again, back to spending the day with her grandparents. We left her dad’s and met her grandparents at Red Lobster. We ate a really nice dinner there and headed back to their house. Her grandfather makes wine, so I had to indulge. I don’t often get to really enjoy having a few drinks because we are always out with our boy, so it was nice to know we were in for the night and really have a few. Later that evening my wife’s brother and his family came over to see us. The real reason we were in town was for their son’s first birthday party, Sunday. We hung out with them and introduced Everett to him. It was cute, he is starting to walk on his own and looks like a little drunk guy.

My wife’s grandmother hurt her foot a while back and has it in a cast. She usually does everything around the house, including the cooking and cleaning. That next morning to help her out I made the breakfast for everyone and my wife helped clean around a bit. It was the least we could do. Afterwards we got ready for the birthday party.

Once we got to their barn, where they had the party, we showed Everett their goats!

I’m not really sure what he thought about them haha. We currently live in the city, but if we ever get the chance to live out a bit further I would love to have chickens and goats!

This next picture is of the birthday boy himself! He didn’t destroy his cake the way other kids do, but he did enjoy himself and ate plenty of it.

After they opened his gifts and had the cake we had to head home. Traveling with a baby is no joke! Just going all around with him all weekend was enough to make him fussy all last night. It is tough for him to get back in the swing of things after a weekend like that.Β  Once we were home we had clothes to wash, bottles to clean, and another birthday to celebrate!

That’s right, my dad’s birthday is technically today. We dropped all our crap at the door and headed back out to the buffet. Once we ate it was back to their house for some ice cream. It was very yummy! Then we finally got home for good. I gave Everett a bath and his hair naturally dries like this.

And that was our weekend!

I hope you all enjoyed yours as well. I’ll be seeing you again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Birthday, Shopping, Cabin!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was jam packed with a little bit of everything. Friday was my mom’s birthday. We all met down town and had dinner at a nice restaurant. Afterwards we bought some pie from the same place and headed to our place. My brother’s family had to go early to put their baby down for the night. We stayed and played a couple of games of Yahtzee! My wife and mother did better than my dad and I. Not a great picture but still captures the moment haha.

That was the end of our night. Saturday my little family took a trip to the city to get a few things. We had some Olive Garden for lunch. I had a nice grilled chicken flatbread. YUM! Everett was very well behaved, and a few people stuck up a small conversation with us. All around good time.

We stopped at Babies-R-Us to use up a gift card and a returned item to buy a few things. Jordyn bought a few milk storage bags and what not, and the big purchase was a 4Β  in 1 convertible Graco car seat!

He will be able to use that seat until he doesn’t need one anymore. It converts all the way to a backless booster seat. It will take a little time to get used to but it is really nice. And just think we really got it for free, can’t beat that.

My wife then wanted to visit Kirkland’s for the first time. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it is a very nice home decor store. Most things are reasonably priced, and fairly well made. She had thoughts of getting a few little things there and then going to Hobby Lobby, but that didn’t quite pan out. I’ll tell you why. She, almost instantly, found a stand that would fit perfectly in our house. It was a large item and we didn’t think we had a way to even get it home. I eventually broke down and went and bought a set of ratchet straps and put it on the roof haha. Once we got it home, it really did transform the space. Check it out:

So there you have it, we now have a coffee bar! It fits so well. Just before we left to come home we stopped at Barnes and Noble. I was looking to start a Tom Clancy series, then realized that his books are bible large and that may not be the best for me. If you follow my Instagram you will already know what I got, but I did get something different. I picked up a book from an author I know I like. From the author of the Legend, Prodigy, Champion trilogy, comes my newest edition, War Cross!

I’m not sure how much time I will have to start reading this book but I really want to. I enjoyed that named trilogy above tremendously.

Sunday my dad, brothers, and I went to camp to work on the cabin some more. It is really starting to take shape as a real structure. They already had siding on the back, as shown:

We were going to be working on insulating the inside as well as putting up some rough cut boards on the front. Here is what it looked like before we started:

Here are the 40+ rough cut boards we had to carry into the woods:

My mom came out and helped my brother put up some insulation:

My dad and I measued and cut each board to fit around the roof rafters and screwed them into place. We are later going to rip a few boards into four inch wide pieces to go over the gaps between the boards. We will also draw a straight line along the bottom and cut the bottom straight, but that is for another day.

We may end up staining it in the future so it lasts longer but we aren’t sure yet. For now we want it boarded up and ready for winter. We will have to frame the door a bit more and finish the two ends. While at camp I cut a bunch of kindling from the scrap rough cut wood. I was going to go home and start putting wood in my storage container. You know the one I made a little while ago. Here’s how it looks!

I really like the way this piece turned out! I can’t wait to have a few fires, and not have to trudge through the snow to go get more wood.

That rounded out my weekend. My baby has his four month check up today after work and I have one of my best friends from high school coming over to meet him after. I haven’t seen him in a while so it will be a good time catching up a bit.

That is all for me today, I hope top see you all back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend Update!

Hey Everyone!

I hope you have enjoyed the hot weekend! But we are back with another weekend update, brought to you by Monday. πŸ˜€

Saturday morning I woke up and met my brother at my dad’s house. We got everything we needed to go work on the cabin for the day. We had some stuff out there already which is nice, that way we don’t always have to keep carrying everything through the woods all the time. We got to camp and started working on the floor. Here you can see my brother cutting a notch in a floor board:

Since the cabin is being made by complete amateurs it isn’t square. That being said, each piece needs a little TLC, to fit correctly. Here my brother is marking the part that needs to be cu down a bit:

We had my brothers dogs out there with us. They are zero help. haha. They like to watch what was going on and play in the creek. My dad brought one of his dogs, but he got attacked in a way, by the big black dog, so he stayed in the car. I felt bad for him, he is scared often but he loves coming out to camp, and wasn’t able to enjoy any of it. But on the bright side he ad a couple nice car rides!

Here we are finally done for the day. We could have worked much longer, but the problem with having no electricity and a limited amount of batteries is that they will eventually die. :/

We have three more boards to secure to the floor then we can frame the remaining three walls. Once that is done it is off to the races. We can get the door and windows in, as well as add the outside walls. It will come together quickly, and be a real place to stay after that. We will continue to work on the inside as well.

Sunday was a hot hot hot day to play softball, but we got it done! It got to about 92 degrees of just beating down heat with a clear sky. Like normal, we had two games. We won the first one and lost the second one, but we weren’t upset because we were just out played. In other news my boy Everett was able to come down to the fields for the first time in his life. Here you can see my mom feeding him:

Cale (1 of 6)

And again burping him πŸ˜€ :

Cale (2 of 6)

After the games my wife wanted a couple more pictures to commemorate the experience. So even though I look awful here they are haha:

Cale (5 of 6)Cale (6 of 6)

Later that night we had some homemade Stromboli for dinner and finished the night off with some ice cream. Much to my surprise I weight myself again for the first time in a little bit and look what I saw (pardon my gross feet):

For the first time in my ‘eating better’ diet I am under 200lbs! Woo! That is awesome. I’m still doing basically no exercise other than softball and the occasional pushups. I am just eating healthier and having better portions. It is a great feeling.

That was my weekend! I hope you had a great one too. I’ll be back again tomorrow. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
