Outing & Craft Festival!

Hey Everyone!

We had a very productive, fun, and chilly weekend!

Saturday we had our combined company outing/picnic. We were out on the water by 10am kayaking from the dam down to the park. there were over 100 people signed up, and quite a few came. It took my wife and I about three and a half hours to make our way down. Here is my wife ad mom up in front:

About half way down there are some pretty mean rapids. We made it through ok, others were not so lucky. I helped a couple in a canoe that flipped right in front of us, ans when I got back in my kayak I saw another guy behind me flip right over as well. Everyone was safe just a bit wet and maybe a bit cold. It wasn’t raining but the sun never did come out.

Later we had catered pulled pork and chicken, from a place a few miles away. It was delicious. We had six corn hole boards up and running as well as a few for washer toss, and disc golf. Before we left I won a $25 gift card to Olive Garden, so my wife and I will have to make a trip out there soon!

Sunday we woke up and got ready to go to the local craft festival. It is once a year and we always make it a point to go. This year was really fun but it was raining. Here is the guy that was making balloon animals:

1

There were vendors from all over. Exhibiting things from art, to soups, and to guitars.

4

Oh and they had a tiny petting zoo!

On our way out we picked up 10 pounds of grass fed beef from a farm no more than 30 miles away from us, and some sugar coated almonds.

Once we got home I got my favorite purchase out!

1011

It is a CAO cigar box turned into a 3 string guitar. It is tuned to G D G. There are pickups in it so you can plug it in to an amplifier, and sounds ok if played acoustically. There is a neat story behind the one that I picked. The guy who makes these was asked to make a small Ukulele from a different CAO box, for the Master Blender of the CAO company. I guess the lady knew him personally and wanted it as a gift. For payment he was given two large boxes of cigar boxes. In one of those two boxes was this cigar box. He said he has never seen one like it before and it was the only one like it that he had made. He told me that the small Uke he made was in the Master Blenders office to this day. That is a neat backstory forΒ  the guitar. πŸ˜€

I finished Sunday off watching my beloved Cowboys do absolutely nothing against the Panthers. At least I had a beer to enjoy with it!

I hope you have all had a great weekend, I know I did! I’ll be back again tomorrow, hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Bits of Everything!

Hey Everyone!

This will have to be another quick post. Today for lunch we met in the cafeteria and ate with one of the summer help kids that worked within our department. We had a couple departments there and the new VP. It was nice to just chat with everyone a little bit because we don’t always see each other.

It is pouring down rain here today. It was pouring down rain last nigh as well. I’m sure my yard is flooded lol, and I hope it hasn’t come into the house. Fingers crossed! We haven’t had a ‘flood’ in a while so I hope we are ok. It has been a nice reminder that the summer is, sadly, ending soon. 😦

Everett has a haircut scheduled for tonight around 6pm. This will be his 4th cut in less than two years. His hair grows pretty darn fast.

I was also informed that tonight we have a Masonic practice. I found out about it this morning. It got lost in the long month. It is usually the 4th Wednesday in the month and general the next Wednesday is our meeting at the beginning of the next month. Months like this one have five Wednesdays and screw everything up haha. They are going to motion at the next meeting to just have it be the last Wednesday of each month. That will be much better.

Lastly today is my pay day! Woo! I was finally able to put a couple bucks into each of my savings accounts this time.Β  XD I’m hoping to keep saving until I hit my own set buffer amount and keep going. That way I can feel safe in getting a few things done and know that I didn’t just drain the whole account.

That is it for me today. I hope you have a less rainy Wednesday than me, and I hope to see you back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Great Weekend With Family!

Hey Everyone!

We had a great, hot, weekend. πŸ˜€ Saturday morning my wife’s grandparents came into town to see us and Everett. They hung out and chatted with up for a couple of house. It was nice to see them, and they love to see Everett.

1.jpg

(Don’t mind the crap in his hair) It is probably from this…

Later that day my brother had a somewhat impromptu diaper party for their soon to be baby. We were going to go to camp, but they decided it would be easier to have it at my parent’s house. It was hot for most of the day, but felt good to have a little fire once the sun went down. We had family and friends there throughout.

20180630_202811.jpg

After the busy day, and knowing it was going to continue Sunday, we headed home and went straight to bed.

Sunday morning my brother and I had two back to back softball games. One at 9am and the other at 10:15am. We thought since it was early in the morning that it wouldn’t be so hot….we were wrong. haha. Before the first inning we were sweating through our shirts. We played both games and won! I went 5 for 8 batting with one big home run. That is a decent day for me. Definitely not the best but the only times I got out were hard hits, they just happened to be right at the outfielder. :/ Unlucky.

After, I went home and got showered. We had to turn right around and head out to my great Aunt’s house. Her daughter turned 70Β  so they had a big party for her.

3

Like always there were quite a few people there, and a ton of great home made food. My niece was there as well as my cousin Hannah’s baby girl Olive. They live in Ohio, I believe, so we don’t see them as often as we would like. So we had to get a few pictures of the kids together, having a good time.

Everett was sharing his veggie straws with Olive before we left.

It was a great day, and nice to see everyone.

Today is back to grinding. We have a nice day off on the 4th to break up the week so that is nice. What do you all do for the 4th? We watch the local parade, have a picnic with family at my parent’s house, and watch the fireworks.

My current situation is writing this post and watching the Brazil v. Mexico game on my second monitor.

I know it is a bit small, but that is what you get for trying to have a 3840×1080 picture in your post haha.

I hope you all have a great Monday! I’ll be back again tomorrow, and hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

How Is Your Thursday?

Hey Everyone!

My Thursday is moving along at a very average pace. Not sure how I feel about that. :/

Last night was a stated Masonic meeting night for me. That always involves wearing a suit and tie, and being gone most of the evening. My wife isn’t super fond of that, but generally it is only one night a month. Last night warm, which makes for an uncomfortable meeting. We had a nice dinner of spaghetti and meatballs with a nice salad bar. For desert we had ice cream and cupcakes. One of our members is the Sheriff and he had a presentation about drugs in our area and how we got to this point. It was pretty interesting. I think it is about time for him to retire though. His views and knowledge on certain things are dated, and some of the things that hang him up, are things that people my age know as common knowledge. I think it would be best to get some one in that position that is with the times a bit more. For the sake of productivity only. I believe that this guy has done a fine job for years in our area. Overall it was a great night for fellowship.

It is rainy and supposed to storm here within the next couple hours, so nothing will be accomplished tonight haha. My wife and I are working on things to gift each other for our upcoming anniversary and mother/father’s day. We know that a physical gift isn’t necessary, but we like taking the time to find something that each of us needs. Most of the time it is something that the other person would have just gotten themselves so we aren’t really out there with our choices. I have been putting together a simple list of things I could use, like a table saw or plunge router for out in the garage. Looking another way I also suggested a couple different types of Ukuleles I’ve had my eye on. Like I’ve said in another post, our May is packed with stuff, anniversaries, holidays, birthdays, and a vacation. that will just result in more pictures for my posts! haha

I have a bit more work to do to finish painting the fence. I would like to have it finished before Everett’s party. It will be a challenge because I have softball starting up this weekend, and I have to fight with the weather and paint sprayer to get it done. My goal is to have it done and be able to power wash the deck before people come over. Who knows! Once that project is complete I would like to make a scrap wood container on wheels. I want to model it from April Wilkerson’s ‘Lumber Rack’ which can be found: Here! I really love her videos, and she makes things people would actually want haha.

Anyway! that is all for me today. Not much going on. I’ll be back again tomorrow for what is hopefully a Friday morning “Coffee Talk” Fingers crossed! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Tuesday Lull!

Hey Everyone!

This is the most Tuesday, Tuesday that I have had in a while. Its definitely not a Monday, nor is is the slight rush of hitting the middle of the week. It is a very normal day. I haven’t had one of those in a while.

It is moderately busy at work. I have been working closely with UPS to find a solution for our shipping department. We hit a snag early on but looks like things are back on track. I have an issue that has been bugging me for weeks in Excel. I can’t seem to figure it out. I made a sheet for the company to use to replace the old way of sending around purchase requisitions, and it has worked flawlessly for three years now. A month ago I had a user tell me his wasn’t working, even though everyone else is still able to use it just fine. I am completely stumped on why this is. I have been racking my brain, then sleeping on it, then racking my brain some more with no avail. :/ I have since posted my issue up on a forum in hopes that someone may be able to provide some “outside looking in” perspectives. If you are an Excel guru hit me up haha, I have questions lol. πŸ˜€

The family is doing better. My wife is still stuffy and has a headache, but I can only believe that that will pass in a day or so. We are going to be over this sickness just in time for good weather I hope! It will finally be 60 degrees here in a day or two. WOO! πŸ˜€ My poor flowers have been more than frost bitten. I went out a week or so ago and got rid of all the dead stuff and made room for the flowers to pop up, and they did. Since, they have been covered in snow two more times! If they make it through I’ll be surprised haha. Speaking of better weather, we should be getting back out to camp when it clears up. We have to finish that damn cabin! We need to insulate the ceiling and finish siding the peaks. Once that is all done we can work on the inside stuff like the counters and bunks, as well as get the wood stove in place.

Softball is going to start up soon too. I’m not sure if I am going to play or not. Part of me doesn’t want to, because there ends up being too much drama from our teammates (They are a family), but part of me wants to keep playing with my little brother. It is one of the only things that we do together. He told me I better play haha. Who knows! I have a lot going on this summer and if I play I’ll have to let them know that it is my last priority.

That is all for me today. I’m glad you stopped by, I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

It is 7:38am and it is snowing like crazy here. I should have gone and shoveled my sidewalk before coming into work, but too late for that now. Those kids walking to the bus stops will just have to manage. If they were on top of their game, they will have boots haha. I do feel bad though when I neglect getting it done on days that it needs it. :/

I was watching the news late yesterday and early this morning and kept hearing about that bridge collapse. How horrible is that? I heard that Marco Rubio was saying, that it wasn’t the construction itself that caused it, but rather the workers tightening the cables that were a bit loose. That instantly makes me wonder why, if that was possibly going to bring the bridge down for any reason, that they would have still had it open to the public, and allow traffic to go underneath it? I just feel like it all could have been avoided. I’m all for advances in technology trust me, but you have to be safe about it.

March Madness is well on its way and I have seen two real upsets so far. I like seeing upsets, because I want everyone’s brackets to get messed up. haha. I think it is funny when you hear people freaking out about it lol. I like the under dog aspect too. Some of those teams haven’t been to the tournament ever before, some have been, but in turn have never won a game. It is nice to see a few small teams beat a team they ‘shouldn’t’. The first upset I saw was that Loyola (a team you haven;t heard of) a #11 team beat Miami, The U, #6! It was only by 2 points or one basket but hey! A win is a win. The second one is closer in proximity to me. Buffalo (Out of NY) a #13 team beat Arizona an #4 team. This one really shocked me! I heard all over the news that Arizona could have the man power to beat some of the top tier teams and make it far in the tournament. Now they are out in the first round to a #13 team! Crazy. They won 89-68, it wasn’t even close!

I’ll be watching the tournament a bit more tonight in that home theater. I’ll be sure to get a couple pictures for ya.

That is all for me, stay safe out there! I’ll see you all again Monday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Letter From Abel!

Hey Everyone!

Yesterday was pretty awesome! After work I picked Everett up from his baby sitter and then picked up my wife at home. We went straight over to another daycare facility, to meet with the owners. We thought they were still running out of their home as well, which is ok, but they recently purchased a building for a legitimate daycare. We met the owner and her husband who run the show together. They have separate rooms for each age group, trained and clearances staff, a clean environment, plenty of state regulated safety measures. As well as a fenced in play area, and a walking path. To top it all off it ends up being cheaper per month then where we have him going now. the only down side is that we can’t switch him until he is 1 year old. This means he will have to wait until May 22nd before he can go there, they don’t have any openings for infants until 2019! The good news is that we have all the paper work filled out and they are willing to hold his spot for May for $50. That is a steal, so we are going to do that tonight as we head out of town for the weekend.

By the time we were done there we were starving and not feeling like cooking dinner. We stopped across the street and got food from DQ. πŸ™‚ After we got home I checked the mail like I do everyday. To my surprise I got a piece of mail from Children International. I was hoping that it was some response from my sponsor child, and it was! I received my first letter written by Abel, the others were from his mom and a CI worker, on his behalf. I also got four pictures of him holding the items that I bought for his family.

1.jpg

Abel turned 10 years old on January 9th of this year and I wanted to get him something for that. In my letter I let him know that the soccer ball and Fanta were his gifts for Christmas and his birthday! The other stuff is for cooking in his home. It is mealie meal, sugar, cooking oil, and rice. He is looking good and seems happy, that’s all I can ask for. I hope he gets a ton of use out of that soccer ball. He likes sports, jacks, and playing with his friends so it should be perfect.

Today on the other hand hasn’t gone so well. :/ I came in early to cover my boss, who is off for the weekend. We have a system in place that grabs a ton of information and compiles complex workflow procedures, and it got unplugged yesterday. It was never properly brought back up, so it never ran what it needed to last night. So since I got here early I tried to re-run it, noticing that it didn’t run. Little did I know that the instructions that I had for that sort of even were incomplete. So, everything I tried still didn’t work and we had a mess this morning. It is just annoying for me to feel like something like that is my fault, even though it really isn’t. I still feel responsible and I don’t like that sort of thing. So I have tried moving past it, but have run into a snag on my other project as well. This isn’t turning out to be a great Friday so far. Good news is that it is Friday and soon I will be able to get the heck out of here for a while! haha.

Like I stated before, even thought the weather has turned on us,we are going back this weekend to talk about the house and tax stuff, and spend some time with my wife’s family. We hope to get a lot accomplished and have a relaxing weekend at the same time. I could really go for a glass of her grandfathers homemade wine right about now! πŸ˜€

That is all for me today, I hope you all have a great weekend! I’ll see you again Monday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Some Things & Some Stuff

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was very pleasant. Friday was like any other. At work I was able to clean up our messy data closet in our second building. I don’t have any before photos, but it is much better trust me haha.

20180112_142919 20180112_143905

Saturday we had some snow to shovel off the sidewalks and I ran the snowblower up and down my driveway about an hour. I was able to hit the side walk of my two neighbors too. Not my terrible neighbor but the other two haha. We were going to go as a family to a wedding on my mom’s side of the family, but we had a small indecent. I was getting in some much needed gaming time and my wife was hanging out with Everett down stairs. He has gotten to the age where he can lunge and really play. He can hold himself up while sitting and can stand with help. That being said, he decided it would be a great idea to lunge straight off the couch. He fell flat on his face onto the floor. It sounds pretty terrible, but He just got a bruise and a bloody nose. He was happy shortly after. Here you can see his bruise setting in nicely.

signal-2018-01-13-122546

Poor little guy! His mommy was shaken up pretty bad because she was there when it happened. I all I can do is reassure here there is nothing she could have done and that it wasn’t he fault in any way. Hes getting to be a fast, slippery little guy. He is dong just fine today. πŸ˜€

So needles to say, I went to the wedding alone. I met my parents there but it was at a fish and game club on a side road. It was pretty messy.

20180113_142715

The wedding was a very redneck, laid back wedding. It was my mother’s second cousin, who was getting married. They made most of the food on the buffet line and it was a fun time. I made a plate and brought it home for my wife when I left. When my parents made it out they stopped over and saw Everett for a bit. They don’t see him very often because we take him with us all the time, so we find some time to let them come over and hang out.Β  The rest of the night was spent watching the terrible football games. I hate watching the Patriots win and hate watching the team that has the best chance of beating them lose all in the same day (Steelers) haha. Now the worst thing that could happen in the NFL right now is if the Patriots and Eagles both win. That would be a super bowl I wouldn’t even watch. The ideal game in my eyes would be the Steelers v. Vikings. Since that can no longer be true the next best game, in my eyes would be the Jags v. Vikings.

Sunday we a relaxing day I played some games, we went and got some pizza for lunch. We just lounged, and snuggled our baby all day. In the evening we watched the last half of the Vikings game, and pretty much just went to bed.

Today I am very busy at work, and I’m glad I could get this post out at all.

That was my weekend. I hope you all had a good one as well. πŸ˜€ I’ll see you all tomorrow.

Coffee Talk

Hey Everyone!

I hope you are all having a wonderful morning. I remembered to write this post so that instantly puts me in a decent mood haha. I have one cup of coffee under my belt, or in my stomach for you literal types, and I’m ready to go.

While having coffee it is imperative that you talk about the weather. Out weather went from -15 to + 50 in one day. It is insane. We had more than a foot of snow and over the course of two warm days it is all gone. Here is the kicker, tonight and over the weekend we are getting another foot of snow, DOH! Make up your mind mother nature. I’m hoping your weather trends are less harsh.

On a Friday whilst drinking coffee with your friend you are also obligated to talk about any plans you may have for the weekend. I’m fairly certain that some one on my mom’s side of the family is getting married and we said we would go. We don’t see them often, probably for good reason, but it is nice to get a dose of them here and there haha. I think most of you can relate to something similar.

Lastly, if you have a family of your own you have to catch the other person up on what has transpired since you last spoke. In this case, Everett is doing much better. He is getting over his yeast infection, croup, and ear infection nicely. He is as happy as could be, somehow, and growing like a (good) weed. In other somewhat family news a little while back, my brother and sister in law announced that they are having another baby. So I will have another niece or nephew in about 7 months. Yippie!

Then you have the always awkward park, when your are both done with your coffee and realized you ran out of things to talk about. You say “Welp…” get up and pay your bill. Say your good byes and head on your way, until next time. I’ll see ya then! Have a good weekend. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Game 5, Binging & Halloween!

Hey Everyone!

I would like to report that I had a lazy and uneventful weekend! For me, this is a success haha. It was cold, rainy, blah and I made the most by staying inside, binging Stranger Things 2, and eating food that I shouldn’t. Side note, I have been slipping, well falling flat on my face, with my diet. Yikes! I have to try super hard to get back in the right mindset.

I stayed in, only leaving to get groceries, and take out the trash haha. I watched Ohio State beat Penn State in college football. That was a close back and fourth game jeez! I also watched three World Series baseball games. I don’t follow baseball very well, but when you have a weekend like this and the biggest series of the season it is easy to fall back in love with the sport. The Dodgers and Astros are making this one for the record books. Last night’s game five was a spectical to behold.Β  If you are interested here is the whole game, condensed into 28 minutes: Right………HERE!

We carved pumpkins! How could I forget that? Here is Everett’s first look at a pumpkin. Ever.

20171028_184742

If that doesn’t crack you up you have no soul! He warmed up to it pretty nicely though.

20171028_193528

Once we were done, there was nothing left but to put them on the porch and light them up!

20171028_194642

The one I made on the right is a bit weird haha. I cut the top out and quickly realized there was no way in hell I was getting my hand in there. So I made sure I cut a mouth big enough to get the candle in haha.

20171028_194658

Tomorrow night we will be passing out candy to all the youngsters. I’ll try to get a head count for your benefit and mine for future years.

That is all for me today I hope you all had a great weekend! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
