Laid To Rest!

Hey Everyone!

We can start with sad news first, so that hopefully we can end on a better note. In short my parents had to put down one of their dogs today. 😦 😦 His name was Dakota and he was a bit of a mutt. He was ten years old and we had him since he was a wee little baby. He and his brothers and sisters were left at my dad’s friends house. One night my dad and brother, I believe, went up there and came home with a puppy. I had already been off to college at that point but he quickly became a part of all of our lives. He was a weird dog, that isn’t an understatement. He was weird about only eating his food when my mom was around. He was weird in that he would never look you in the eye. At times he seemed a bit unstable, but in a house with four other pets, I can understand. He was happy, and loved going down to the creek, and out to our camp. He was excited to hop in the car and ride then laid down exhausted on the ride home. That’s how you know it was a good day. He was a good boy, and will be missed terribly.

What happened was, he quit eating. It was out of nowhere and weird, much like him, so my parents tried different food. they tried hard foods, and soft foods, and even people food. He wouldn’t even drink his water at times. :/ His condition seemed to stay the same, and they wanted some answers. I believe they took him to the vet on Monday. After running some tests, and taking some x-rays they determined that he had a tumor and that it was leaking blood into his abdomen. Wanting to know more they drove a ways and saw a more tech savvy vet. There were able to determine what we all feared most. He had a cancerous tumor on his liver and spleen, that was indeed leaking into his abdomen. 😦 Since he was losing that blood he became anemic, and since it is on his liver it is inoperable. There were told even if it was operable that it would cost around $6000 to do the surgery. This morning he was put down, and will be buried in the back yard of my parent’s house, probably beside our other two dogs.

Well now that I want to cry…Lets add a bit of humor to cheer things up! I heard today on the news that a squirrel in Alaska stole a cops donut lol. XD

My wife is still away today doing training for her new job. She will be home later this evening. She is very stressed and nervous about the change, since its a ‘no going back’ situation. We will be pulling Everett from daycare, and she is taking a pay cut to be home. If it doesn’t work out we are in some serious trouble. That is weighing on her pretty heavy today. I have the most amount of faith in her and her ability to grow and learn this new job, even if she doesn’t. I see what shes does every day, in and out, and there isn’t anything that she can’t handle! I hope she finds the path that she needs to and gets in the right mindset sooner than later, so she can thrive. I know she will do great work! 😀 😀

That is all for me today. I hope you have a great Wednesday and I’ll see you all back here again tomorrow! 😀 😀

What A Day!

Hey Everyone!

I wasn’t able to get a post out yesterday, and for that I apologize. Aside from being swamped at work, I had to meet with the plumber once again, and take the dog to the vet.

This weekend was fun and now I’m sore. We played 5 softball games on Saturday with a fairly new younger team. Still the same core people but some nice additions. We will have a good team this year. It was a long hot day, but felt great to get back out there.

Back to yesterday.

First at work I have been setting up a few machines at the same time trying to get everything out at the right time. I have a ton of things in my office. If you didn’t know better you would start to think it was a storage shed haha.

Over the weekend our big sink that the washer drains into, was clogged. Without being able to do laundry or wash the paint sprayer, we were sitting ducks. So around 11 am I got the call that the plumber was on his way. I was with him at my house until about 1 pm. They were the same company that I used before. He took apart all of the fixtures to the sink and moved it out of the way.

Until we were left with just this pipe sticking out of the ground.

In that picture you can see the small trap on the floor and his snake. He ran that a couple of times before doing this.

This is a balloon mechanism that you feed water into. the end expands, like a balloon, in the pipe so a seal forms. It then uses a tight nozzle on the end to shoot water out in a jet stream and blast the gunk out of the small pipe in the the main line. Thankfully this worked and we were able to clear the pipe. He put every thing back together and back to work I went.

I was only at work for another couple hours before I had to leave early to pick up Everett. Once I got home I turned right back around with the dog and took her to the vet for her annual Lyme vaccine. She lost the winter weight, and they said she looks and sounds great. We will take that win! She is a real pain in the ass at the vet. She walks in the door every time and starts barking non stop until she is put in a room. They put her in one early because she was so annoying haha. Its always a struggle.

I finally made it home and changed my clothes, and headed out to paint some of the fence. The weather isn’t looking great for the end of this week so I wanted to make sure I used the good days while they were here. My paint is getting old and the latex is getting a bit chunky? I guess? So the sprayer is getting clogged and isn’t working well. I decided to hand paint all of the weird spots like the 4×4 posts, and 2×4 supporting beams. this way when I go get another fresh gallon tonight, I can just spray the boards and maybe be done! that would be great.

That was my busy weekend and even busier Monday! I hope you had a great weekend as well, and I hope to see you back again tomorrow! 😀 😀

House, Dog, & Crib!

Hey Everyone!

I’m not sure if I said anything about this before, but my wife had that opening conversation with her grandfather. It went very well, and I think he is open to the idea of building a house and letting us buy it from him. He told my wife that he was going to the bank this week and was going to look into it. We will be going back this Saturday, I believe, to give him our stuff for taxes and we will have a conversation in depth. With any luck we can start on this right away. We have a friend that will do our basement for a very decent price, and I have a few feelers out for contractors, if we go with building rather than modular. If this all works out most of my life dreams would be complete. I grew up thinking, in my head, that I would have a house away from others, land at my disposal, a forever home, with a family. This would check the rest of what I don’t have right off of that list. The hardest part would be having to leave my job. I love my job and have a very stable job. I have huge potential to move up here and one day possibly become the Director of IT. The people here are great, as well as the company as a whole. We are in the midst of big updates and upgrades here, as well as one lady in our department retiring. So this will be shit timing, but if it has to happen it has to happen.  :/ More on that when I know more!

My mom stayed home with Everett yesterday because our baby sitter called us and told us she was sick. It is safe to say they had a good time.

On a different note, our dog decided to pee in our house a few times yesterday, as well. My mom let me know that there was some blood in her urine, which led us to believe that she had a UTI and we were right. After I got home from the dentist (clean report by the way) I had to get a urine sample from her which was…interesting haha. Take it to the vet and get it tested. With the antibiotic and all it was $50 for everything. Not what I wanted to do but had to be done.

Last night we decided to give Everett the crib life experience. He has been crawling, backwards only. And liked to back himself right out of his crib.

He was in his own room and we finally got to use his nice baby monitor. He didn’t want to go to sleep at all. He was exploring his new bed and getting stuck haha.

He made it most of the night. In the wee hours of the morning my wife got him and brought him in bed with us. He was fussing, and was probably freaking out because he wasn’t used to waking up in that room. I would consider it a success. We will try again tonight. I may have to lower the mattress one more level.

That is about all from me today, I hope you are having a great Tuesday. I’ll see you all again tomorrow! 😀 😀

Quick Post

Hey everyone!

I’m posting early and quick today since I have to leave work early for a dentist appointment. I hope it all goes well. I don’t have any issues going to the dentist but i just don’t really want to go. They will probably find a reason to drill into my teeth and that just gets annoying. Best case they clean those bad boys up and send me packing.

After the dentist I have to take my cat Zazzles to the vet. He is prone to UTIs and for a cat that is no good. If it is left untreated it can literally kill your cat. He had his first one and we had to have him stay over night to get treated. They develop crystals in their urine and that is no bueno. Since the first time he has had two more. They both didn’t have the chance to get worse, since we jumped at the sight of him acting weird and found it early. He doesn’t ever seem to drink his water which doesn’t help the situation at all. He will only drink out of the dog’s dish and we have to fill it and keep the dog away from it so that he can drink it. Weird. That will about finish up my day.

I will be on my own at work until next Thursday. My networking counter part is taking some of his vacation days to visit with his brother from Texas. I may be busy, and I may not be.

Have a great day and I’ll talk to you tomorrow! 😀 😀
