Getting Back To Normal!

Hey Everyone!

Today, and partly yesterday, we have been trying to get everything back to ‘normal.’ We had been gone for a week. We were two time zones away, eating, and sleeping was all out of wack.

At least for me, I have had two great nights of sleep since we have returned. We are still sleeping on a futon mattress in the Everett’s room to get him used to his crib, but better sleep still! I finally woke up today feeling somewhat rested, after I got moving a bit.

We have had to catch up on our mail, our cleaning, laundry, dishes, yard, and a variety of other things. I have taken care of a few bills, and have caught up on my work emails as well. It has been just one giant game of catch up, but I think I’m winning. haha.

We have also had to reintroduce Everett, to better eating habits, and back into his daycare setting, this since he was only there a week and then we left. It is taking him some time but he will be back in the swing of things soon. Speaking of Everett he had his one year check up and did pretty ok. He is just at the bottom of the growth curve for height and head circumference. His weight on the other hand is not great at all. He lost weight since his last check up. He still only weighs 18lbs! We have tried just about everything we could, so we are now trying to supplement him with some Pediasure, if he likes it. He is getting whole milk and real food, but I think the problem is with the fact he still doesn’t have any teeth. :/ I think once a couple come in he can really tear into some good protein and what not. I’ll keep you updated.

In other news, I have some of those photos from our stop in Nebraska! Enjoy:

A very big thank you to Anna Mostek Photography for these wonderful pictures! You can check her page out at the link above. 😀 😀 She did a great job we are loving these!

That is all I have for today I hope you have a great day and I’ll see you all again tomorrow! 😀 😀

2 Year Anniversary! (Coffee Talk)

Hey Everyone!

We made it, Friday! It is here, finally!

I feel like this has been the most drawn out week I’ve had in a long time.

I have a few things to cover today.

I took last night off from outside work. It was kinda rainy and I just needed a quick break. I’ll be back at it after work today. My brother is going to drop off his Jeep after work. I’m going to take his doors off and hinges to paint them. He wants them painted in that bed liner that I painted my whole truck in. He has one of those 4 or 5 door Jeeps, so it’ll have about 10 hinges. I’m just going to set the doors in the garage and park it in there. I’ll lay the hinges on some cardboard and spray one side at a time.

It is Mother’s day weekend. I will celebrate with my wife and son Saturday. We are going to a restaurant of her choosing and getting some hanging baskets. While we are getting those baskets I’ll grab one for my mom. Sunday we will most likely have dinner with my mom and brothers.

Lastly, I will be celebrating 2 full years of blogging this Saturday as well!!! 2 Years, I never thought I would be doing this a week after I started to be honest. This is crazy to me. Lets see.

-After this post, I’ll have 474 published posts

-I have 514 wonderful followers, thank you all! 😀

-I’m receiving over 1,000 views per month

-I have been nominated for 5 separate blogging awards

-I have put out 13 review posts of Movies, Apps, Technology, and Gadgets

-Surprisingly enough, 13 posts of Current Events and News

These past two years have been amazing and you have all driven me to continue doing this. I’m glad that I can come on here and vent, rant, write about my everyday life. I have been able to document my son’s birth and growth. Most importantly you are all very kind and supportive, in your comments and advice. I have come to love blogging and never thought I would. Thank You! 😀 😀

Sunshine Blogger Award Nomination!

Hey Everyone!

I was nominated for the “Sunshine Blogger Award” by my new friend Lily over at .

I graciously accept, this nomination and want to thank Lily for the chance to be apart of this award! Please check out her blog for great posts about literature and much more!

Lets get into this thing!

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to bloggers who are creative, positive, and inspiring as they spread sunshine to the blogging community.

Here are the rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  2. Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or your blog.

On to the questions!!!

  1. What television show are you watching right now (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, network TV, etc.)? No joke, I just finished binging all 7 seasons of Game of Thrones! I am watching the Olympics on live TV, and The Detour.
  2. What are you reading right now?
….Um, about that. For real, nothing. On an honest note, not being religious I really want to read the NAB  cover to cover.
  3. Coffee or Tea? Black Coffee. At least two full cups a day! I got to lazy to add other things haha.
  4. Why do you blog? I have been asked this on multiple occasions. I started because I was bored with some free time at work. I had no plans no goals, nothing at all. I now write to chronicle my daily life mostly, and to throw in a few extras when I am able.
  5. If traveling were free, where would you like to go? I have friends in the Netherlands that I haven’t met yet. I would also love to go to the Ukraine, since that is where some of my family was born. I now sponsor a child in Zambia and think it would be a great experience to visit him and his family.
  6. Who is your favorite band or musician? Recently I have been big on EDM and never thought I would be. It helps me relax and focus. I enjoy Krady, Nicky Romero, Monster Cat, and Cell Dweller.
  7. What is your dream job? I would have to say being a CTO or Director of IT would be awesome. That is what I am striving to be currently.
  8. If you could only pick one for the rest of your life_books, movies, or television shows/series-which would you pick? Hands down I would pick television. They offer more content usually at an acceptable length. I am a huge fan of visual media and books usually don’t don’t do it for me.
  9. What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given? Good question, I’m not sure anything has ever stuck. Maybe just the mindset of living below my means.
  10. What is the worst movie you’ve ever seen. Damn, that is tough. I try my whole life to avoid bad movies and now that I have to pick it is hard to do so. Not sure I can pick just one. I would say most parody movies are awful. Most of Will Ferrell’s later works are also terrible. I hate most movies with Vince Vaughn in them too haha. That is just a personal preference.
  11. What are your goals for this year? My wife and I have a huge goal of building or putting a house down and are currently trying to start that process. It is driving my crazy already so the sooner the better.

Now, it’s time for another round of nominations and questions!

Real Neat Blog Award!

Hey Everyone!

I was recently nominated by Dear Kitty for the “Real Neat Blog Award.” Thank you for the nomination, I gladly accept! 😀

The ‘rules’ of the Real Neat Blog Award are: (feel free not to act upon them if you don’t have time; or don’t accept awards; etc.):

  1. Put the award logo on your blog.
  2. Answer 7 questions asked by the person who nominated you.
  3. Thank the people who nominated you, linking to their blogs.
  4. Nominate any number of bloggers you like, linking to their blogs.
  5. Let them know you nominated them (by commenting on their blog etc.)

My seven questions are:

  1. Where do most visits to your blog come from?

-Making me dig for stats haha. Most of my visitors are from somewhere in the United States of America.

  2. What is your favourite sport?

-I have always been a big fan of American football and the NFL. I played football for a number of years and still follow it today.

  3. What has been a special moment for you in 2017?

-The birth of my son. It is our first and we are loving every minute of it!

  4. What is your favourite quote?

-I do not have any favorite quotes. I find that, with most things, my mood changes and so does my taste in quotes.

  5. What was your favourite class when still at school?

-In high school, I enjoyed Psychology. In my four year college I enjoyed all of my elementary education classes. In my two year trade school I enjoyed the Linux classes.

  6. Anything you had wished to have learned earlier?

-Corresponding with the last question, what I wanted to do and be when I grew up sooner haha. I would have saved myself some money. XD

  7. What good things do you expect in 2018?

-Who knows, I hope to advance in my career, add some equity to my home, and who knows maybe add an addition to that family. 😀

I think it is neat to do these awards because it lets your readers learn a bit more about you. there is no pressure to do them and it can just be fun. It doesn’t hurt that it can also help you spread the word of your blog as well as the word of other deserving blogs in the process. For that reason I will nominate a few of my newest followers.

-Eliza from Elizarudolf

-Marc from Recovery Uncensored

-Sarah from Paul Sees The World

-Fiona from Authors Interviews

-Michael from Procrastinaction

Again, no pressure to accept this award. I just wanted to at least send out the well wishes and let you all know you have “Neat Blogs” 😉

One last thank you to Dear Kitty!

😀 😀

What A Fun Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was a blast. I mean nothing crazy happened, but it was an all around good time. It really started on Saturday. My wife left in the morning to get her hair done for the first time since having the baby. It was something she really wanted to get done, so I’m glad I was able to watch Everett while she did that.

Once she got home, I packed my stuff and headed to camp. Before I left I stopped at a place that over looks most of my whole city. I had a nice panorama, but it looked weird when I threw it on here.

Once I got to camp I helped my brother and dad, who got there before me. We brought wood and supplies to the site. Here are the 4″ pieces that we used to cover the cracks of the other boards.

When we were on the last board, we had to notch it. This was to ensure that it would fit around a stud. I was notching it out with a hand saw when it jumped up off the board and sliced my thumb. It was pretty bad but I got it wrapped up quickly.

It is a bit hard to do most things with your thumb covered like this haha. I had a glove over it so I would not get dirt and stuff in it. Plus, I was staying the night so I was going to be there a long time.

Anyway, with that set back out of the way we were able to get the pieces up!

Since we had more boards from the last time, we started work on one of the ends. It gets the most weather so we wanted to cover it up a bit. We are going to, possibly slat shingle the peaks, and cover the cracks with more 4′” boards like the front.

A couple of my brother’s friends showed up as well as my older brother. They hung around most of the day. But after a while I was getting hungry for that juicy steak I told you all I would get. I threw it down on our grill over some hot coals and let it ride.

While that was cooking up nicely, my brother’s friend Ben made me a drink. Stick with me as I explain what’s in it. He mixed bourbon and blueberry preserves in an empty water bottle. Once it was shaken together he poured it through a strainer and into my cup. Similarly, he mixed lemonade and club soda and poured that in too. To finish it off he squeezed a lemon in there and here is what we have!

It was really dang good. I had a couple of those and enjoyed my steak.

Once everyone left I hung out by the fire until it got dark. I threw a few more logs on because I wanted coals for breakfast.I decided to just roll my sleeping bag out in the cabin and stay there for the night. It looked creepy but it was better than a tent!

With my head lamp on I started into my new book! I only got a few chapters in before I turned in for the night.

I’m pretty glad I slept in the cabin because it rained pretty hard that night. Which did ruin my breakfast plans. I had no coals and with the clouds over head it stayed dark longer than I had hoped. When I woke up I packed my things and just headed home. You can see below what it was like on my way out.

I stopped off to get pop tarts for breakfast and brought them home for my wife. It is a craving she has somewhat often so I figured it was a good choice. We ran around Sunday and got groceries, as well as cleaned up around the house. My mother in-law came down and wanted to spend some time with Everett. That gave me some time to play a few video games. I checked the mail later and was pleased to find two pieces of mail from real people haha. First a card from my great aunt Arlene. It was a “First Halloween” card fro our son.

The second was a nice thank you from my brother and his wife.

We closed out the weekend with some Netflix and ice cream. Sounds good huh?

That is all for me. It was a fun weekend and I’m glad I got some time in the woods! I’ll be back tomorrow, see you then! 😀 😀

Happy Independence Day Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

I was going to make a regular post, then decided to do something a bit more patriotic, since I won’t be back until after the 4th! So here you go enjoy the memes! Happy Birthday America! 😀 😀

In all seriousness, I want to say thank you to the all of the armed services, and recognize that this holiday weekend isn’t about parties, parades, and fireworks. On that same topic make sure that what every you are doing, be safe and have a great time! I’ll see you all on Wednesday! 😀 😀

Alright All! Here we are again. I am super excited to be nominated for another award, especially since I haven’t been nominated for this one before! 😀 😀

I have been nominated by the talented and informative Feisty Froggy over at the Dewey Hop blog. Thank you for everything, go check her blog out!

Okoto Enigma created this award as a means of helping bloggers connect and discover amazing blogs. This is what she says the The Mystery Blogger Award is for:

“Mystery Blogger Award” is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve any of the recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.

Here are the rules for accepting/nominating for this award:

  1. Post the award/ image on your blog . CHECK
  2. Thank whoever nominated you and give a link back to their blog. CHECK
  3. Mention the creator of the award and give a link back to her blog. CHECK
  4. Nominate some deserving bloggers and notify your nominees by commenting on their blogs. CHECK
  5. Ask your nominees 5 questions of your choice; including one weird or funny question.  CHECK

OK on to the questions!

  • If you could change one thing about our country, what would it be and why?
    • At this point I would like to see unification of the country as a whole. I know it will most likely never happen because everyone will always have different ways of seeing things, but if we could handle things like adults it would sure help haha. We could be progressing far past other countries in multiple areas and aren’t 😦 Fingers Crossed!
  • Which super hero powers would you like to have, if given a chance? Why ?
    • Well since to this day “powers” aren’t real, I suppose I could make up my own right? I would like to have the power to choose any power at will! Loophole!!!! At any given time I would like to be able to choose a power based on my situation. If I have to fly away I can, but if I have to fight I want to be able to choose strength. See what I’m sayin? Are you picking up, what I’m putting down?
  • What motivates you to blog (write) ?
    • Well at the start I was just bored on my lunch break….but now I have come to enjoy sorting my thoughts. I have also evolved my blog like a Pokemon, in that I offer reviews and news now. I feel it adds a bit more depth for my readers, and I always want to please them! 😀
  • What is something you like to collect, if anything?
    • I used to have a stamp collection, but I grew out of that. I would like to start collecting more Funko Pop Vinyls, I only have three right now.
  • If given the chance to rename any fast food restaurant, which would it be?                  What would it’s new name be?
    • Well I would have to rename my favorite fast food spot, that is close to my proximity. This is because I want it to be a place that I would visit or drive by often. I would also want to name it after myself because how many opportunities would you have to do this ever again? None! So that being said I would rename Wendy’s to Cale’s and instead of her face you could stare at my ugly mug! haha

I would like to keep the questions the same, for my nominees! I’ll re-list them here so you can just copy and paste them. See look at me helpin out! 😀

  1. If you could change one thing about our country, what would it be and why?
  2. Which super hero powers would you like to have, if given a chance? Why ?
  3. What motivates you to blog (write) ?
  4. What is something you like to collect, if anything?
  5. If given the chance to rename any fast food restaurant, which would it be?                  What would it’s new name be?

I would like to nominate a few deserving blogs/bloggers for this award!

**Remember, you don’t have to participate if you don’t want to! The recognition is still yours**

The Great Awesome– For bringing fun and unique content to the masses.

Travels with Choppy– For the best dog and cat blog around

Dorky Mom Doodles– For having a great “Mom blog” with fun doodles

If you have a chance please check out each one of their blogs for great content! Also I’d like another big shout out to the Dewey Hop blog for this nomination! 😀 😀

I Got Caught Up!

Hey Everyone!

I’ve been slacking today, no lie. I have had a slow moving morning and have caught myself watching the live Director Comey questioning. It has sucked me right in and I haven’t done anything else haha. I haven’t followed any of this but I find it interesting. YouTube is a wonderful thing.

Last night we held a Masonic meeting. We had a very nice cheese steak dinner, and Strawberry cake for desert. It seemed to go much faster than others, and for good reason. We haven’t had just a regular meeting, without an initiation since at least January! I have taken it upon myself to learn a little bit more about our organization and stay involved. I have tasked myself with learning a couple of the charges that are spoken at the meetings. I have been officially out of a ‘chair’ or position for a year now, since we have brought in a bunch of new guys. Now I’m looking to learn more.

Tonight I am meeting up with a fellow co-worker to swap out tires and rims on my truck. He is sending his to the junk yard and is just trading me all four of them because it would be a share to just junk better wheels than I have. It is a great gesture from him and I am very thankful. On the other hand I will probably be trading vehicles with my dad, so that I can have a four door sedan for my baby. I will be sad to see my truck go, but I’ll be getting an upgrade by taking my dad’s Ford Fusion. Later this evening my wife and I are going to get groceries, as we are in desperate need for them haha.

Baby Everett is doing well. He is eating more and staying awake longer. We are working on getting him in a routine as best we can. It is a great feeling to come home to him and my wife. It really is a huge change in life and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’ll leave it here today. I don’t want to just start rambling for the sake of rambling. I hope you all have a great Thrusday! I’ll be back again tomorrow and I hope to see you then! 😀 😀

National Teacher Appreciation Day!

Hey Everyone!

I wanted this post to get out a bit earlier than usual. Mainly because if I get it out too late it may not be ‘Teacher Appreciation Day’ still haha.

First a little about ‘Teacher Appreciation Day.’ It is always going to be held on the Tuesday of the first full calendar week of May. This week starts on Sunday and goes through Saturday if you were wondering what constitutes a week. Since The first was on a Monday this month and not a Sunday, it will be celebrated today! But this all being said the first full week in May is ‘Teacher Appreciation Week’, so we should all take some time out at some point to thank the teachers that have helped us become the people we are today. There is an official hashtag for this day if you want to use it it is: #TeacherAppreciationDay

I’m going to borrow, verbatim the history section, of this day from nationalday

It is as follows:  “Political and educational leaders began discussions for a day to honor teachers in 1944.  In 1953, Eleanor Roosevelt persuaded the 81st Congress to proclaim National Teachers’ Day.  Congress declared March 7, 1980, as National Teacher Day. The National Education Association continued to observe Teacher Day on the first Tuesday in March until 1985 when the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week as the first full week of May.  The NEA Representative Assembly then voted to make the Tuesday of that week National Teacher Day.”

Over the years, I’m sure we have all had good and bad teachers. Some teachers are there for the right reasons and love what they do and others hate kids. OK maybe they don’t hate kids but when you are a kid you damn well believe that is the case. 😀 I wasn’t the easiest kid to teach. I was and still am all over the place. I am active and hyper, and can’t sit still. For teachers growing up I was a child that they had some trouble with, but what do you expect out of a child that is 7 years old?!?

As time went on I was a bit more rebellious and mouthy. I stood up for what I believed in and didn’t respect people just because they were my elders. I respected people who in my eyes earned it. To this day that holds true. Through middle school I got in quite a bit of school related trouble, and have resented that whole building ever since.

Through high school I was able to relate to most of my teachers and find a way to still be myself, without getting into trouble. There was a little bit more freedom as I got older and I felt like I was being respected as a young adult and therefore gave respect back to my teachers. This relationship carried me though high school.

There were a few stand out teachers over the years that went above and beyond to help me, when other teachers wouldn’t. Even though they won’t be reading this I want to give them a shout out.

  • Mrs. Tachoir:  My third grade teacher, for making learning fun for children of such a young age. She brought a smile into every room and really could connect with young children.
  • Mrs. Tremblay: My fourth grade teacher, who really formed my opinion of a great teacher.  She was my mothers fourth grade teacher and mine! That shows a love for more than just the ‘job’.
  • Mrs. Hasselman: My eighth & eleventh grade math teacher, who showed how a great teacher doesn’t forget her students. Teachers see hundreds of children every year, and even after not being around her for three years it was like, nothing changed.
  • Mrs. Eaton: My ninth, eleventh & twelfth grade English teacher, who embraced the chaos. Instead of getting overwhelmed with the number of kids in her classroom and their antics, she took it in stride and came up with creative group projects.
  • Mrs. Elmer: My eleventh grade history teacher and my twelfth grade psychology teacher, who made me believe that I could do what I wanted to in life. She had the passion to shoot for the stars and passed it on to others. Again she found a way to relate to each student, in her own way and make learning fun.

That is where I’ll stop. I had a number of professors through my seven year college experience that were amazing as well, but I would be here all day haha. I think that the early years are what matters most. That is when you are forming your view of the world and the people that are in your life and helping you really make a huge impact.

I hope you enjoyed my post today!

Please feel free to use the hashtag above, and comment below about your experience with great teachers! I would love to here some stories.

Gearing Up For The Baby!

Hey Everyone!

Today has been baby centered, fully. All for good reasons , no need for alarm.

This morning, my work held a small baby shower for my wife and I. It is pretty awesome that they do that sort of thing. It was during break and usually gets extended because everyone is still there. My wife came in to work just before break. The work bell rings and we all met up in the kitchen/dining area of my work. They had bought a full, big cake for everyone to enjoy. It had little booties and rattles on it. They asked a couple weeks ago what her favorite type of cake was and that was what they ordered. She picked lemon in case you were wondering.

They took a few pictures for our Human Resources department, and then presented us with a gift basket. I was full of goodies! We got things like lotion, oil, cream, bids, towels, and diapers. All great things to have more of. They told us that they had a few other things for us too but that they hadn’t come in yet. The girl in charge was mad at FedEx for not getting the items here in time and gave them a piece of her mind, behind closed doors of course haha. She is a girl who has just had two babies of her own so she knew what to get. We also gave them a copy of our most current registry. She is going to just bring the rest in to work when it gets here. That is totally fine with us. The thought really does count in this scenario. Most companies don’t go above and beyond for their employees, like this one does.

We are going to send the company a nice card thanking them again for putting it all on and for the gifts.

After that shower, my wife had a routine doctors appointment for the baby. She is at the point where she is now required to go every week until the baby is born. That means it is getting close! It is getting down to the wire and exciting. Her blood pressure is up, for her, but not for people in general so it was nothing to worry about. The babies heart rate was in the good range and everything is looking good. Just a little more waiting left to do then it’s time to rock and roll!

This takes me right up to lunch!

That’s all I have on this front for today! I hope you are enjoying the updates, and baby news, as much as I am. I hope to see you all back again Monday! 😀 😀
