Bit of Everything!

Hey Everyone!

Back on track a little bit today. Things are a bit more ‘normal’ you could say.

I got to get my hands a bit dirty today with some of our hardware in the server room. We are making room for a new setup to allow a mirrored set of servers running virtual servers. We are also making room for a new cloud backup, and a high availability array, to store over 9 terabytes of data. That was sort of fun and scary all at once. We were doing all that in a live environment. If anything was to get unplugged it would could have taken down a server that was currently in use, and mess some stuff up.

We had some left over cookout food from yesterday. That made for a nice lunch again today. I have also been binge watching Dr. Who season 5-11 which is only on Netflix in Europe, I believe. I have a new web browser that I am using. It is called Opera and it has a built in VPN or virtual private network, which makes it near impossible to trace back your location. Since I have mine on Netflix thinks I’m currently in Sweden. Its really cool actually.

I have a Masonic practice scheduled for tonight at 7 pm. We are going to cover the 2nd degree a bit since next week we have to preform one on our newest member. We shouldn’t be too long tonight since we should have most of it down pretty well.

That is all that is going on today! I hope you all have a great Wednesday and I’ll see you again tomorrow! 😀 😀

Nothing Is Ever Simple

Hey Everyone!

As you read from my last post my tub leaked somehow all throughout my house! DOH! I have it mostly figured out. It is one of three things and hopefully not a combination of all of them. The first and best possible scenario is that there is a pipe that is butt up against the overflow, and the seal is just gone. The second and third involve cutting an access panel into my wall. Scenario two is that there is no elbow pipe against the overflow. I would have to cut the access hole and buy a panel and the correct fitting and get back there and install it. If this is what is going on then any water that gets into that overflow valve is just going somewhere in my house. Scenario three is that all the the pieces are there, but part of the vertical pipe is cracked or broken. I am worried about a couple things first being,  I’m not sure if the pipe is old galvanized steel, copper, or pvc. If it is old steel I am worried that if I put pressure on it that it will crack or shatter. I am also worried about having multiple things going on in there, like having a broken pipe and missing an elbow joint to corral the water.

Now that you kind of understand the situation, you can imagine my frustration when step one is to pull off the overflow cover and not being able to do it! I have everything figured out and the simplest of tasks is standing in my way. All the the other fittings, from teh same company, fit with a certain size Allen wrench. There is a hole for the overflow and of course nothing fits it. On top of that I have no way to get a good look at it. The hole is facing at a downward angle and it is very close to the tub wall, even taking a picture with my phone isn’t working. I would like to take the cover off to see if there is indeed an elbow pipe and check the seal. If it is just that I don’t need a hole in the wall. Oh well, I’ll have to find some way to get it off without trying to hulk out and break it haha. Those little things get me super mad and I have to back up or I make it worse. Thankfully I know that about myself now.

In other news pay day is tomorrow for me, and I have couches coming on Thursday!

I bought my wife a gift out of the blue. She has a side photography business, and has run out of room to store all of here data. I went ahead and bought her a 3TB external hard drive made by Western Digital, and an internal hard drive of the same size for inside her PC. This will give her room to grow and be a a great way to keep those precious photos backed up. She had been wanting a solution for a little while now and I just got the itch to help out so I did. 😀

Our taxes are all ready to be sent in too! I can’t wait to get our refund, so we can pay the majority of this furniture off haha. I hate being in debt over everyday life items. Once that is all paid off I’ll start my hunt for a family sized vehicle for myself. I’ll be looking for something with all wheel drive, or four wheel drive, for our harsh winters. It also has to have back seats for the incoming little kiddo.

That is all for today! To ease the pain of my current bathtub issue, please comment about anytime you have had a seemingly simple task go haywire. I need a good laugh in good company! I hope to see you again tomorrow. 😀 😀

What A Monday!

Hey Everyone!

I left work a bit early yesterday, to get my furniture together and in place. I sadly don’t have any pictures, for an OK reason haha.

Everything that was supposed to come did, and it filled my porch! I got home and drug everything into my living room. I took the three boxes for the bed frame upstairs to the bed room, left the two boxes with the end tables downstairs, and was left with a huge box containing the dresser. I decided the best thing to do would be to clean the floor in the bedroom, roll out the rug, and get to work on the frame. It was very simple, to my surprise, to put together. The pieces were bulky and it was a bit tricky to get the rails in since they have to go in both ends and I’m only one man lol. I got it together and had to turn the whole thing around. DOH! Bad planning on my part.

I went down stairs and thought to myself “How am I going to get this dresser upstairs?” The box was wider than my stairwell, and I figured it was in pieces in the box waiting to be assembled. Wrong! I opened the box and to my surprise again, it was completely ready to go and heavy as all get out. I left that until later.

I quickly got moving on the next task, the end tables. They again were simple, the hardest part is opening the box and trying not to get Styrofoam all over the place. I assembled both of those tables in about an hour and had myself a half time beer. It taste great, like I expected.

So now I’m sitting in my living room staring at this big dresser and decided to text my brother, to see if he would come help me. Go figure yesterday was his first day back on first sift at work! He wouldn’t be free to help me until her got home from work, picked up his baby, and ate dinner with his fiance. So while I was waiting I did remember to take a picture of my tote storage! I know you are all excited. Here it is:

The five closest gray totes are empty and at the end we have our Christmas tree and other things that won’t or don’t go in totes. This fixture was already here but it was a cluttered mess. Up top we have extra flooring for our dining room and living room,as well as replacement tiles for our bathroom. It makes me feel much better knowing that we do have some room for stuff, since we are having a baby in May.

My brother came over and we went ahead and took all the drawers, which made the dresser a bit lighter in weight. We then carried it carefully up the stairs, so we didn’t chip any of the paint on the wall. We got it in the room and went back down to get the drawers. Once they were in we head up to Lowes to grab adhesive felt for the bottoms of furniture. I have been worried this whole time that our nice floors were going to get all jacked up by all this new stuff. He dropped me back off at home and I went to town putting those felt pads on everything. By the time I was done it was about 8:30 and I forgot to take any pictures. I may remember tonight so stay tuned!

That was my exciting night!

Thank you for stopping by, I really appreciate it. Since I have talked a lot about storage, let me know in the comments below what you use in your house as storage. Let me know if you like your current setup or not, as well as what your dream storage system would be! I’d love to see what you all do. I’ll see you all tomorrow! 😀 😀

What Did Your Weekend Involve?

Hey Everyone!

I had a pretty busy weekend, fun but busy. I am posting a bit early today because I am leaving work at noon. We are having our bedroom furniture delivered and I don’t want to be up until 11pm putting it together so I’ll do it during the day. 😀

I’ll skip right to Saturday. I went to my brothers to set up some tote storage in his basement. Check it out:

This is one of the two racks that we made. (That’s my brother) We made the big cuts to the plywood at my place with the table saw then brought it all to his house.

This is one of the four shelves we made. We cut the 2×4’s in his basement with his circular saw. He used left over wood from tearing apart his enclosed porch.

We finally got them up and together. He is going to fill that corner gap at a later date and maybe make one more.  For the time being it works well.

I couldn’t leave without seeing our work in action! We grabbed some of his totes from the attic and brought them down. Not too shabby if you ask me. 😉

Sunday my wife and I went to get groceries (God, I can’t ever spell that word), and while we were there I was inspired from the night before. We have a tote storage system in our basement but it was covered in junk, and not organized at all. I took it upon myself to change that. I bought 10 totes of my own from the store and got to work. I cleared everything I could and burnt what could be burnt. I am now left with six spots for totes and the rest are filled with Christmas decorations, and extra flooring.

While we were shopping I also grabbed some plumber’s caulking. Where our baseboard meets the wall, under our new kitchen pass through, is a gap for one reason or another. It looked like crap. I was able to fill it with a white silicone mixture and for never doing it before it looks great. I got quite a bit done with weekend.

Later that day of course we went to my parent’s house for the football game. I’m disappointed that the Patriots won only because now they are tied with the Cowboys for Super Bowl wins haha. We had about 10-12 people over for the game, so it was cozy in one room. We had homemade pizza and other little snacks. It looked like it was going to be a blow out there for a little while, and then I think Lady Gaga changed all that! After the first half it was a whole new ball game. The Pats scored 25 unanswered points to come back and tie the game. That’s pretty insane. The Patriots won the coin toss in over time and marched down the field and won the game with one more final touchdown. The Falcons had a chance to make it a two score game and didn’t capitalize, shame on them lol. The Pats made history in the fact that no team has ever won from a deficit of 14+ points, ever in a Super Bowl. Tom Brady of course went on to get his third SB MVP award, and his fifth Lombardi trophy.

That was my weekend, what did you do? Feel free to let me know in the comments below!

I’ll see you back again tomorrow, and I’ll let you know how my furniture turns out! C-ya 😀 😀
