Happy Thursday!

Hey Everyone!

I had some plans change yesterday and wasn’t able to get a post out yesterday. I kept thinking I forgot to do something all day and I think this was it haha. πŸ˜€ What happened was I scheduled a doctors appointment as soon as they were available, which was the middle of the day.

Since Saturday my back has been killing me. I have full range of motion but it hurt/hurts when I breath deeper. It was confusing to me and I couldn’t calm myself down about it, so that is what I did. Once I was done with my appointment I just went home. The PA-C determined that I strained my diaphragm. Just like doing curls with your arms all day would hurt your arm, I hurt my diaphragm by using it all day. The two points where, I guess, it meets other parts of the body are where it hurts and that is why it felt like two separate spots. He prescribed me some muscle relaxer for the evening and ibuprofen three times a day for inflammation. I have felt pretty good today, so far. I’m sure I’ll be fine to get back out there for the tournament.

In other news I am finally getting my car fixed and inspected Friday. I have to drop it off at the shop tonight, and I can’t forget. That is part of the reason I am telling you haha. πŸ˜€ If you didn’t know I totally forgot to get it inspected in May and didn’t realize it until July. It is now August and It will finally get the work done. Don’t worry, since I found out I haven’t driven that car. It has only taken this long because it needed brakes and calipers. The other reason it has taken so long was that one of our shops in town completely burnt down, so every other shop is backed up. I hope to be back in business next week.

Yesterday my wife’s family came down to see Everett So her grandma and mom were there when I got home. They brought some ice cream cake from DQ for all of our birthdays and bagels from our favorite spot in our college town. They make bagels daily and they are really delicious!

That is all for me today, I hope you have a great Thursday. I’ll be back tomorrow and hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

I had every intention to post yesterday, I promise! You see, I ran into a bit of an issue with timing. I received a phone call early yesterday from my wife. She told me that she had trapped a mouse in our attic. The mouse was trapped under a Lego type toy bucket. Her plan was to leave it under there until I came home, 7 hours later…

I didn’t really think that was the best plan for the mouse or us. I left right when my lunch break started, and headed home. I was a nice husband and picked up an Iced Capp for my wife, and a couple of subs from Tim Horton’s. Once I got home I slid a thin cutting board under the bucket and took the mouse beyond our backyard and let it go in some brush.

We have a few traps set in the basement, and we got one the other day. I was hoping we were good, but that wasn’t the case apparently! I’ll keep the traps out for a while longer, as well as fill a couple small holes they may be trying to come in, near the foundation. Honestly I can’t find a real spot that they are coming in. The only reason, I think, it was in the attic was that the cat brought it up. I don’t really think they scaled the wall all the way up and found their way into the attic. I could be wrong but that’s my guess.

Anyway, I have realized that I have a ton of softball this next month! This weekend we have the end of season tournament for our Sunday league. Every Wednesday until the 18th we have practice for our company team. Next weekend I am pitching in a co-ed tournament. We may be entering our Sunday team into another one pitch tournament. Lastly, on the 18th we do have the huge Industrial Tournament (the one the practices are for) The ability that a couple of the teams I’m on have, may make it 4 + games each tournament. Most of which take place all in one day. For the next few weeks I’m a full blown softball man! haha πŸ˜€

I hope you have a great Friday and a great weekend! I’ll be back again Monday and hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Not Catching A Break!

Hey Everyone!

I haven’t been able to catch a literal break in time this week. I, again, apologize for not being able to get a post out yesterday!

Yesterday started like any other, but quickly became one of the busiest days I have had in a long time. At work Around 9am I started deploying the 3 big ass printers for our 3 shipping locations. They had to be done in a live environment in order to avoid addressing conflicts, which can get a little hairy. I ran in to a snag after the first one and had to figure out why it was doing what it was doing. After picking the brains of my two co-workers I was able to find that the post number had to be changed in order for the printer to work. The old port number only worked for printers from 2009 or older. The new one was for everything newer. So that took about my whole day.

I left work early at 3pm. I had to pick Everett up from his baby sitter, and get him over to his Ear/Nose/Throat doctor. He was checked to see that his tubes were still in; they are. He was then tested again for his hearing, where they stick up in a room and play white noise sounds. He is gauged on how well he reacts, if at all, to those sounds. Before getting his tubes he was only reacting to sounds 45 decibels and up. After getting tubes he is where he should be, right around 20-25 decibels and up. So all good news there! πŸ˜€

We headed home and met my wife. She took Everett and played with him outside while I got ready to power wash the garage. I set it all up and found that I really didn’t have enough power to get any of the crap off the siding… :/ Our hose was old and had some small holes, so we took off and bought a new one and a new decorative holder for it at Lowes. Once home, I hooked it all back up, with no real change in the washer. I also noticed that the spigot was leaking too, so I tore it apart, and noticed that it was one of those frost guard ones that goes the whole way though your foundation into your house. This is so that in the winter months there is no water in the line outside at risk of freezing and breaking your pipe. I hopped back in the car and was hoping to just find a simple solution to fix the part that was leaking. No such luck. I returned home to pull the whole damn assembly out of the concrete block and take it back to Lowes for a third time, and get a replacement. I had to widen the hole in the block before it would fit. I also had to re-apply that plumbing tape to the threads two times because the first time it was dripping. Once it was water tight, I applied a Gorilla Glue caulking on the outside and inside to keep the bugs and what not out. Being about 9pm at this point I didn’t have a chance to test the pressure washer again haha. It is crappy out today so I may not be able to test it for a week, but at least I know that all the connections are now good for future needs.

Work today is just as busy, hence why I’m trying to get this post out a bit early. I know I’ll be really busty soon haha.

So that is all for me today! I hope you have enjoyed the post and your stay, and with any luck I’ll see you again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What A Day!

Hey Everyone!

I wasn’t able to get a post out yesterday, and for that I apologize. Aside from being swamped at work, I had to meet with the plumber once again, and take the dog to the vet.

This weekend was fun and now I’m sore. We played 5 softball games on Saturday with a fairly new younger team. Still the same core people but some nice additions. We will have a good team this year. It was a long hot day, but felt great to get back out there.

Back to yesterday.

First at work I have been setting up a few machines at the same time trying to get everything out at the right time. I have a ton of things in my office. If you didn’t know better you would start to think it was a storage shed haha.

Over the weekend our big sink that the washer drains into, was clogged. Without being able to do laundry or wash the paint sprayer, we were sitting ducks. So around 11 am I got the call that the plumber was on his way. I was with him at my house until about 1 pm. They were the same company that I used before. He took apart all of the fixtures to the sink and moved it out of the way.

1

Until we were left with just this pipe sticking out of the ground.

2

In that picture you can see the small trap on the floor and his snake. He ran that a couple of times before doing this.

3

This is a balloon mechanism that you feed water into. the end expands, like a balloon, in the pipe so a seal forms. It then uses a tight nozzle on the end to shoot water out in a jet stream and blast the gunk out of the small pipe in the the main line. Thankfully this worked and we were able to clear the pipe. He put every thing back together and back to work I went.

I was only at work for another couple hours before I had to leave early to pick up Everett. Once I got home I turned right back around with the dog and took her to the vet for her annual Lyme vaccine. She lost the winter weight, and they said she looks and sounds great. We will take that win! She is a real pain in the ass at the vet. She walks in the door every time and starts barking non stop until she is put in a room. They put her in one early because she was so annoying haha. Its always a struggle.

I finally made it home and changed my clothes, and headed out to paint some of the fence. The weather isn’t looking great for the end of this week so I wanted to make sure I used the good days while they were here. My paint is getting old and the latex is getting a bit chunky? I guess? So the sprayer is getting clogged and isn’t working well. I decided to hand paint all of the weird spots like the 4×4 posts, and 2×4 supporting beams. this way when I go get another fresh gallon tonight, I can just spray the boards and maybe be done! that would be great.

That was my busy weekend and even busier Monday! I hope you had a great weekend as well, and I hope to see you back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Life, Heckfire, & Ingress!

Hey Everyone!

I wasn’t able to get a post out yesterday. I was focused on finding a solution or possible solution to the dilemma I posed Monday. Although I haven’t been able to do so, I have gathered my thoughts enough to post today haha.

We are working on some change, not sure what entirely, but change none the less. It may be my wife taking another job. It may be downsizing our house. It may be moving to another area. It may also be building new. Lastly it could remain the same, with tweaks to our budget. We are not certain which is best, which is viable, or which we will choose. It will be sorted either way, sometime, hopefully sooner than later.

On a much lighter note, I have been playing a mobile game in my free time that has become quite addicting. It is called, “Kingdoms of Heckfire.”

21192501_1754692594835337_401992816648784491_n.png

It is a clan based game like most of the others, but it has a cartoon live vibe to it unlike the rest. You build your own kingdom, level your buildings, research to add strength, and join a clan. Once in a clan you follow their set rules. You can, depending on what you want to do, climb the ranks and become a top advisor to the leader. You can also branch out and make your own clan from scratch. Our clan is now the #5 clan in our realm. I am one of the three VPs and have a lot of power over what is done within the clan. We create and break alliances to better suit our needs, and being one of the most powerful we can force our might on smaller clans. Now in a way our clan in particular has taken communication toΒ  whole different level. We have created a few Discord channels, one for our clan with a sub group for our leaders, as well as the same set up for us and the other clans we have allied with. This actually keeps the game fresh all day long. Instead of relying on in game notifications, I can be pinged in Discord about what is going on in more of a real time way. In some ways this game is more stress than it is worth, but it, like most video games helps distract you from reality, and lets you become whatever you want. That to me is fun.

Speaking of fun mobile games, I am still playing Ingress as well. That is, when I can. I don’t have much free time anymore to just waste gas and drive to portals haha. I have been able to slightly take back my small city from the evil enlightened green guys. Screen shot below:

Screenshot_20180124-074442.png

I have made the majority of those fields and layered what I could. It may get taken out as we speak but for now it is covered. I have been doing most of the work myself, which is proving to be quite hard. I am low on resources all around. I do what I can. I have been playing for well over a year now and I have found myself capped as far as leveling due to badge progress. I need another gold badge to level up, and I have all of the ex to level just fine. I have been slow on some of the badges due to the area I play in and lack of travel. :/ It is understandable though and I’ll get there in time.

That is all for me I hope you have a great hump day, and I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend Update!

Hey Everyone!

I was unable to have a “Coffee Talk” on Friday. We, very oddly enough, were busy at work on a a Friday morning.

That being said I had a productive work day, and a great weekend. Saturday we tried our best to get some good sleep in. We didn’t have anything to do until we left around noon. Of course we got up and played with the babe. We left around noon to go back to my wife’s hometown. We would spend the day with her grandparents. Before that though we stopped at her dad’s house. This was to of course see them, and to get Everett his very first hair cut. Yes it has only been 5 months, but he came out with a head full of hair and it had to happen.

Here is Everett sitting with his grandfather and uncle! I think this was right before he got his hair cut. I don’t have a great before and after picture but it was a big difference.

20171104_163611

Here is him after the hair cut.

20171104_15434820171104_154524

His neck line is now all shaped up, and his hair around his ears is all trimmed nicely. He looks like a real little man haha. So cute.

I also got to spend some time with my little brother in-law Remington! Hes a handful. I introduced him to being tossed in the air and after that he never left my side haha.

signal-2017-11-05-095827

Again, back to spending the day with her grandparents. We left her dad’s and met her grandparents at Red Lobster. We ate a really nice dinner there and headed back to their house. Her grandfather makes wine, so I had to indulge. I don’t often get to really enjoy having a few drinks because we are always out with our boy, so it was nice to know we were in for the night and really have a few. Later that evening my wife’s brother and his family came over to see us. The real reason we were in town was for their son’s first birthday party, Sunday. We hung out with them and introduced Everett to him. It was cute, he is starting to walk on his own and looks like a little drunk guy.

My wife’s grandmother hurt her foot a while back and has it in a cast. She usually does everything around the house, including the cooking and cleaning. That next morning to help her out I made the breakfast for everyone and my wife helped clean around a bit. It was the least we could do. Afterwards we got ready for the birthday party.

Once we got to their barn, where they had the party, we showed Everett their goats!

20171105_130707

I’m not really sure what he thought about them haha. We currently live in the city, but if we ever get the chance to live out a bit further I would love to have chickens and goats!

This next picture is of the birthday boy himself! He didn’t destroy his cake the way other kids do, but he did enjoy himself and ate plenty of it.

20171105_142013

After they opened his gifts and had the cake we had to head home. Traveling with a baby is no joke! Just going all around with him all weekend was enough to make him fussy all last night. It is tough for him to get back in the swing of things after a weekend like that.Β  Once we were home we had clothes to wash, bottles to clean, and another birthday to celebrate!

That’s right, my dad’s birthday is technically today. We dropped all our crap at the door and headed back out to the buffet. Once we ate it was back to their house for some ice cream. It was very yummy! Then we finally got home for good. I gave Everett a bath and his hair naturally dries like this.

20171105_195408

And that was our weekend!

I hope you all enjoyed yours as well. I’ll be seeing you again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Plumbing Fun!

Hey Everyone!

I’m sorry for not having a post out yesterday, I was called just around lunch to go meet my plumber! I was told that they would call me with a time frame in the morning, of course that didn’t happen. Instead I received a call telling me that they were going to be at my house in 15 minutes. It was very short notice and I wasn’t able to get anything out.

That being said there were some wins and losses yesterday with the plumbing. I called them about three separate things. One being a PVC pipe leaking behind a wall where they had a shutoff valve. The second being a leaky supply line to the basement toilet. the third being that our system minorly backs up when the upstairs toilet is flushed.

He grabbed his snake and what not and started in on the main drain in the bathroom.

20171017_134712

After about a half hour he stopped and informed me that the trap in that main line was broken somewhere and full of mud. Somehow water is still making its way though, but it’ll need fixed sooner than later.

20171017_141646

That is mud, I promise! That is a major project and I need to talk to our insurance rep to see if I can get it covered at no cost to us for the repair. I would really hate to pay out of pocket for this. It would put at least our driveway paving on hold for a little while, which I don’t want.

He did fix the leaky pipe, with this piping.

20171017_150045

Before it had a shutoff valve, and now it doesn’t, but what do I care? The main shut off is right beside it. I’m pretty sure it is a hot line going to….well we couldn’t figure out where it goes haha. I didn’t get a picture, but he replaced out supply line to the toilet and now our floor is dry all the time. Yippie!!

Our plumber was there for about three hours, and was very friendly. They are going to get back to me about an estimate to fix the trap that is broken, and in the mean time I’ll just wait to get the bill… :/

Speaking of all of this broken stuff, our washing machine was “fixed” but it didn’t solve our issue. The appliance guys also quoted my timing piece for the dryer at $110, which I guess is pretty standard. He will be coming back to look at everything once the part comes in.

It was a pretty hectic day with potential bad news, if we have to pay for that pipe. The good news is that I got paid to day, so of course I am already out of money haha. Oh well, it gives me some breathing room for a few days. I’ll take it. πŸ˜€

That is all from me on this fine Wednesday, I hope to see you all back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Wedding & Productive Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

I would like to start off by saying sorry for missing Friday’s post. Whoopsies! In all seriousness I didn’t for get I was tasked with a really difficult project. It has all been sorted out as of this morning but it was something I was not very familiar with, so it took a while. It was a macro enabled Excel sheet that got all jacked up from the latest Office update. I has to go through the VBA code with the guy who wrote it and figure out what we could do. It really did take all day haha.

Secondly I want to send a shout out to Riley, from Riley’s Backpack! A while back you might remember him and his friends wanted to raise enough money on their Go Fund Me page to renew their domain and keep it ad free. I helped them out with what I could, and in return He send me a hand written letter. I wanted to say thank you and let you know you did indeed get my name correct haha πŸ˜€

g

Saturday the little family and I went to a wedding! It was not just any wedding, it was her father’s wedding to his long time girlfriend. They now have a baby boy well over one year old and finally got hitched. You can see all three of them below.

d

I know it isn’t the best picture but our little buddy kept getting fussy and we did end up leaving sooner than we intended to. It was a quaint little wedding in a nice Catholic church. The reception was on the lake in a really nice dining hall. The trip was a bit lengthy and I wasn’t super fond of that but it was all worth it.

Before we went to the wedding we stopped for lunch at my wife’s grandparent’s house. He had pumpkins waiting for him and wanted pictures with him up on his tractor. So that is what went down. Here is a shot of Everett Hugh and his great grandfather Francis Hugh!

s.jpg

Once we got home that evening we hit the hay.

Sunday started out pretty lazy, as intended, but wound up being quite productive. We didn’t quite have a frost but it was damn close. We had some morning coffee from our new coffee bar, and watched Netflix in our pajamas. We did have quite a bit to do and honestly got most of it done. We had your standard weekend cleaning, on top of laundry since we were gone the whole day before. I took out all the trash, hung Halloween lights, and mowed the grass. Later in the day I had a lady come look at the pellet stove I am selling, and I hope to hear back from her soon. My parents came over and brought Chinese for dinner. That was a great way to round out the weekend.

On a, probably over protective note, our boy has what looks like a small red-ish rash looking spot on his chin. Since we were around a bunch of people recently we don’t want him to have anything wrong with him. You hear all of the horror stories about babies getting bad viruses and we really hope it is nothing. I think I’ll call the doctor after lunch.

Again I apologies for missing Friday but I’ll be back again tomorrow. I’ll see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Animal Park & Weekend Update!

Hey Everyone!

I’m sorry for not getting a post out yesterday. We had something exciting happen! My wife entered a contest a while back for some Zac Brown Band tickets. In short she won! this being said I had to leave work at noon, pick up the baby, and drive a ways to go pick them up.

First I have to update you on the softball tournament. I hate to say it but we did terrible and I played like crap. I ended up getting frustrated with my personal performance and didn’t have a good time. Once we were out of the tournament I was able to calm down and enjoy watching my brother’s team fight their way to win second place! That is pretty exciting. The food was great and the weather was cooperative.

Back to leaving yesterday. We decided that if we had to make a round trip of 5 hours worth of driving, that we better make it worth our time. We went to an animal park and had a blast. One with the pictures! (This place is amazing)

We were able to feed the camels, water buffalo, deer, elk, zebras, ostrich, and more!

wagon (1)wagon (6)wagon (5)wagon (23)wagon (17)20170821_153815

I had to fight with this camel for my food bucket, as he tried to steal it out of the truck haha.

One more for fun! Feeding this guy was pretty scary. He went in hard and headbutt my hand each time. lol

After we went and picked up the tickets to the concert and went home. I had little time to get over to the funeral home, when we got in to town. My second family growing up had a loss in the family. We were instructed to wear bright clothing and make it a celebration. She was an amazing lady and she will be sorely missed.

That is all for today, again sorry I missed the post yesterday! I’ll see you back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

My Apologies!

Hey Everyone!

I feel like it has been a while since I posted last, and why is that? Oh! Because, I spur of the moment left work on Friday and called Monday off on a whim. I really did. All kosher of course I used my paid time off and let the appropriate people know first. I sadly forgot all about posting and didn’t let you know that I would be off. For this I am sorry to you all. I hope you missed me πŸ˜€ haha.

I did have a busy weekend. After I left Friday because it was a nice day, I started painting the rims on my truck. At first I didn’t think that this would take very long. Then I thought some more and realized that it would take quite a bit of time. I only have two jack stands, meaning that I can only take off two tires at a time. So I would have to take two off and completely finish them, put them back on then do the same on the other side. That ended up being exactly what I did. I had to take two off clean them, sand them, paint them, let them dry overnight, and put them back on. Repeating those steps took me all weekend. while the paint was drying I was able to do other things.

Saturday I went with my brother and his one friend to my dad’s land. We went up to do some manual labor on some of the trails. We want to clear cut some areas to plant fruit trees, and we have to level some hills that are in the way of the paths. We had his four wheeler up there and found some high ground and took shovels to the spots. We ultimately wantΒ  to have a nice trail to ride without much hassle. There was one spot in particular that was a mud hole. I dug out what I could of the side so the water will drain out, my brother and his friend gathered logs to lay horizontally on the ground. I later helped them with that part as well. We got about 15 logs laid across the mud hole and it looks and rides much better than it did. It was a hard day but fun being outside and working.

Sunday was my busy day. I was finishing up the painting of the second set of rims, when I was told that my family was going out of town for the day to visit with family and show off my baby niece. Of course I wanted to go and see everyone. I finished up what I could and put on decent clothes. I rode out with my family and spent the better part of the afternoon there. Once I got home I had to change into gym clothes to go play basketball with people from work. I again got a huge blister and still really suck at basketball lol.

With Monday off I took my time getting my tires back on my truck, but I did do it. My wife and I were able to hang out and relax for most of that day. We did some chores and that ate up the rest of the day. We popped into Dairy Queen for lunch, which I know isn’t healthy but it was damn good. I got the 6 piece chicken finger basket. Mmmm! She is an ice cream junkie, she would eat it every second of everyday if she could. We go there often haha.

That was my weekend. I hope you all had a great one as well. I will be back again tomorrow so don’t miss out. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
