Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

I missed posting yesterday, due to that darn UPS project again. I promise I’m not forgetting you! ๐Ÿ˜€

The idea of having a ‘Coffee Talk’ seems weird to me today, because my stomach is doing flips and I can’t really drink it. I feel like it wouldn’t sit well. We had a rough night last night. My wife was waking up out of a dead sleep and throwing up, Everett woke up with a bit of a cough, and now I’m feeling a bit weird in my stomach as well. I haven’t thrown up yet, and I’m not fully sure I will. I hope not because I’m at work, and how embarrassing would that be? ๐Ÿ˜€ Either way, I have a coffee poured I just haven’t been able to drink it.

We were supposed to go back to the water park this Saturday but that may not be happening now. :/ Oh well, our health is more important. Speaking briefly about my UPS project, I only have one more piece to the puzzle to be done with it! It is also the hardest and most important piece, but only one still. I still hope to be done with it by the end of June, that is my overall goal.

Everett has been clapping, which I’ve shown you before, he has been waving (using his whole arm), and now he is getting pretty good at picking up his bottles and sippy cups and drinking on his own.

He has also been mimicking movement pretty well. My wife was pushing and pulling a toy of his and he went right over and did the same thing. It is pretty neat.

That is all I have for you today, I hope we all feel better soon. I’ll hopefully be back Monday, and hope to see you then! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

We have had a bit of a roller coaster the past couple days.

Everett has had a fever since we got home from vacation. He woke up Wednesday night out of a dead sleep and threw up in his crib. He did that twice and continued to do it all morning. I chose to stay home with him yesterday and take him to the pediatrician. They didn’t find anything, which is good because it isn’t anything terrible. They think it is just something viral and should go away soon. He is home again today with my mom, and he did much better last night, so we hope he is coming out of it all.

In more happy news he just randomly started clapping the other day.

He is a smart boy! He is learning everyday, and we want to keep that up. I am back at work today getting caught up on all the things I missed. If you remember the UPS upgrade I was working on, I am deploying those PCs today, with any luck. The hard part will be decommissioning the old one and moving the database to the new PCs the right way. Fingers crossed! haha.

Do you all have anything fun planned for this weekend?

Thank you for hanging in there with me while my life gets sorted haha. ๐Ÿ˜€ I hope you all have a great weekend, with great weather. I’ll be back Monday, I hope to see you then. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Fun Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

So this weekend (more Saturday) didn’t go fully as planned but was still a good time. My wife was sick and it only got worse. The plan was to take her to her friends baby shower, then the dinos, lastly the photo shoot. What actually happened was, We got to the baby shower, only to hand over the gift and head to the walk in clinic. My wife found out that she had a sinus infection and needed an antibiotic. The time we had left between the two events we spent at her mom’s house trying to let her sleep, which didn’t work too well because she has crazy dogs. :/

When she got up and moving we headed to the dinosaur event. We knew Everett couldn’t really do anything, but we wanted to get him this exposure. I also want us to get used to planning trips like this so that we are used to it when he is old enough to do things. IT was a pretty neat event I took too many pictures so I’ll collage them below:

And for a special at the end…….I got a video of the crazy games that they kids were playing in the back. Enjoy this short bit of crazy!

We were able to make the photo shoot and I think it went well. It was an engagement shoot for a friend of hers. It was back in our college town, and that holds great memories for all of us. She now has to edit and get those pictures out, but good news is that with this payment she can buy her own domain. She is really working on getting her site built and her social media in working order. I’ll update you when I can.

Keeping on photography for a second, and mentioning something. My wife and I are taking a tip over memorial day week. We are heading to her Uncle’s house in Colorado! That being said, she is in a few photography groups and they sometimes swap sessions. She had interest from a photographer in Nebraska and it happens to be on our way to Colorado. If we can get it to line up we may stop in Omaha and exchange family photos sessions! That is pretty stinkin cool.

Sunday was a lazy sleepy, laundry, movie type of day. We watched three kids movies, napped, and did nothing haha. SO that is all from me.

I hope you all had a great weekend. I hope you enjoyed this post. Thank you for stopping by, I hope to see you back again tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Ermehgerd!

Hey Everyone!

WOW! I can’t keep anything straight this week lol. No morning post as you probably realized. :/ I have again been running non-stop since I got in to work today. My co-worker was supposed to have the day off so I ran everything my self this morning, then he decided to come in the rest of the day haha. Don’t ask me why anyone would want to do that! ๐Ÿ˜€

However, it is Friday! I’m excited for the weekend and for the time off. Last night I was able to program my garage door remote and get that all working for my wife. She will be very pleased now that she/me doesn’t have to lift the door manually anymore. ๐Ÿ˜€

We are all starting to get over out colds and hopefully we can have a sickness free weekend! I let you in on our weekend plans yesterday so I guess there is no need to go over them again.

I do have a bit of a rant that I’m sure you can all get behind. This morning, before work started, I had some bills to pay. Who doesn’t right? I was sitting here going through each bill online and paying them off, when I got to my quarterly garbage bill. (Disclaimer: I know it is a small bill and only quarterly, but this is about the principle haha) I noticed that it went from $74 to $86. That caught my eye and I dug a little deeper. I looked at the bill itself and saw that on top of a site fee, which I always have, I had a “Fuel Fee” of over $11. I then looked at all of my past bills and this fee was no where to be found. So since I deemed this ridiculous, in my own head I called them the moment they opened!

Once I got a lady on the phone I asked if she could tell my why my bill was 11 dollars higher than normal for the same exact service. I wanted to give them the benefit in case it was for a real reason. She said that they increased the fuel fee as of April 1. (I made sure to bold that word, because that means that she is passing this off as a pre-existing charge when it is not one.) I went right in on her a bit and said something along the lines of: “This is a fee that hasn’t been on any of my other bills and is an increase of over 10% to my total bill.” She instantly told me that she would see what she could do to lower it for me and put me on hold lol. I may have scared her a bit. Also it is about 15% higher once you do the math. She got back on the phone and lowered the $11 charge to a $2 charge and I was content enough lol.

How these, companies we are forced to use, can get away with this crap is beyond me. There was no notice that anything was changing and with something changing that drastically you would think they have to send out some sort of notice. I get that this amount quarterly isn’t a big deal, but lets consider how I’m being raped by my student loans and then you will get the idea. They have increased their interest rate 7 times on me in the last year! I went from a $300 payment to $400 in a year, that’s nuts. I certainly didn’t get a raise to coincide with that increase. That is when things like this get bad. I just can’t stand that they can do what they want and I have to try and keep my head above water. For Shame! lol.

Anyway that is all. I don’t want to work myself up again lol. I hope you all have a great weekend and with any luck I’ll be back Monday! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

HUMP DAY!

Hey Everyone!

It is hump day and pay day for me! I like getting paid, as do most people. I have been very busy today at work, and with my co-worker leaving to go on his annual golf trip I will be flying solo for the rest of the week. I have a full plate of things to work on and with any luck that will make the rest of the week fly by.

I have been thinking about calling my student loan companies and seeing if I get on an income based plan, if it may lower my payments. I have been making level payments for the past few years and it is pinching me pretty hard. If I can save a few hundred dollars a month that will only help my savings and or car buying process. They are a pain in the ass to call and talk to.ย  I’m not sure why all service people are terrible to talk to. Awful.

Everett kept us up literally all night last night. He had a fever and was coughing and thrashing around all night. We really got about an hour of sleep. At one point we fed him to see if that would help and he threw it all back up on me and the bed. It was just a really rough night. My wife kept him home today and we have an appointment after work to get him checked out. We both hate seeing him sick like this. Otherwise he is just as happy as ever, but since he has been like this he is more cuddly, so that my wife likes haha.

Another thing about work today is that I get my yearly review. I’m nervous, for really no reason. I think right after this I’ll get called into my boss’ office and get reviewed. A couple of weeks ago we had to compile a list of projects that we worked on or completed so he has that for reference. He will then bring up his review with his higher ups and that will determine where we fall for our profit sharing bonus and whether or not we get any raises. Let me tell you, I could really use a raise.

I forgot to mention anything about spring yesterday. I thought to myself why is that? I determined that since it was about 30 degrees outside and whipping wind, that it didn’t really feel like spring, so it just passed right through my mind haha.

That is all I have for you all today, I’ll be back again tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

What A Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was a fun one for me. I didn’t just sit at home the whole time and wish the weather was better.

We were trying to dodge the Flu though, and I think my wife lost that battle. I for one, am still doing fine for the most part. I have a stuffy head, but she is feeling all the aches and pains. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

We can start off of Saturday! I woke up bright and early and got ready, like normal, because….I had a Masonic seminar most of the day. It was about an hour and a half away and my cousin and one other guy were going with. We left our city at about 7am and teh meeting started at 9am. I corresponded with my wife’s grandpa, so I could drop offย  our documents for taxes. Two birds. One stone. ๐Ÿ˜‰ We arrived a bit early, like you should, and signed in. We continued down aย  line of tables and got our folder with information for the day and then the good stuff. Next came the doughnuts and coffee! I had too many doughnuts and that is all I’ll say, but they were good.

The meeting was for people looking to move through the ranks in lodge. It covered everything, in basic form, you would need to run a lodge as a Worshipful Master for a whole year. We were able to asks questions in an open format and have a couple good conversations. There were mentors and District Deputy Grand Masters there from all over the state. So, lots of knowledge there for the picking! These type of events are fun, because you can really get a sense of how big the organization is and how big of an impact they make on the community. For lunch we had some homemade sloppy Joe’s, egg salad sandwiches, veggies, soup, and apple pie. Afterwards we had a presentation of organ donation and blood donations. As a Mason, signed up for the blood club, you are able to ensure that if you ever need blood that we will get it. This is of course after insurance pays for what they can. It also covers your immediate family, so that is very nice to be a part of. We finished up our little lecture and were out of there around 1:30pm. We waited around a bit and my wife’s mom brought over some frozen goods we should have had the weekend we didn’t go back. I guess you can retract my previous statement and say we killed three birds with one stone. ๐Ÿ˜€

Sunday we wanted to get out a little bit since, other than my meeting, we had been cooped up for a while. Everett has gotten over the Flu and we figured some fresh are was much deserved. The weather was somewhat chilly but it felt good to me, with the appropriate attire. So we went for our first walk all winter! We made sure to bundle Everett up as best we could:

6

We were able to sit him up more since he is bigger. He seemed to like being able to see more. I was wondering how much he would remember since developmentally he hadn’t really been on a walk in months. He can now see further and start to understand his surroundings. We also had to stop and take a nice family photo along the way:

1

Everett didn’t seem overly thrilled but I assure you he had a good time. Our dog was with us too but good luck getting her to hold still!

After our walk we watched a movie, which was not particularly good. I would have reviewed it but I am fairly busy at work today. I can tell you it was Spectre, the James Bond flick. I know it is a couple years old, but I can tell you that IMDB.com has it at a 6.8 I would go lower than that. It was very disappointing in my eyes. The story was there but just about everything turned me off from it. Either way it was nice to stop doing everything and watch a movie. The rest of the day my wife edited some pictures, Everett played beside us in the attic, and I was able to get a few games in. Over all it was a good weekend.

Today I am jam packed with things to do. I have to collect a urine sample from our female dog, and get it tested again to make sure her UTI is gone. Then it is off to Everett’s nine month appointment. This is where he will get a ton of shots and be mad at us for a short time haha. By the way….Everett is nine months old, I failed to mention that last Thrusday! Woo!

That is all for me today, I hope you all had a great weekend, and I’ll see you back again tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Ill, Disaster, & Bringing It Back!

Hey Everyone!

Well it looks like we are all going to get sick like we thought. :/ My wife and I started feeling it yesterday or so. We are both at work today, because, well, you know. No time to take off haha. Well not entirely, but we have to be strategic about how we use it. I may be using some tomorrow, if I get worse, and she can’t take off to stay with Everett. By the way, he still have a slight fever so he is home the rest of the week. So if you don’t hear from me tomorrow, well, I’m not here. ๐Ÿ˜€ If I don’t take off tomorrow I’ll probably take of Monday, if I can, and If I’m still sick. I can only assume we are going to feel real bad this weekend, that is why I’m planning things this way. I really just hope that Everett doesn’t get this crap again after he gets rid of it.

In other news, my morning was going pretty well, until I spilled a whole cup of coffee on myself haha. It was a nice fresh cup, full to the brim. I think I went to grab at it, clearly missed, and dropped it. It went all over my desk on my shirt and pants, and all over my plastic floor mat. DOH! That felt good, thankfully I wasn’t burned in anyway. That would have been really embarrassing haha. ย  I do have a nice large stain on my shirt and pants for the rest of the day… :/ I’m going to try to stay in my office as much as possible the rest of the day. But heck with all that going on this morning, maybe I should have have “Coffee Talk” today lol. ๐Ÿ˜€

Keeping it scattered, I have been wanting to start drawling again. I am pretty good, nothing amazing I’m sure but I always excelled in most things art related. That being music, painting, drawing, stuff like that. I never continued much after the burden of real life bogged me down, but I would like to, even if just for a short time, get back into it. I have been thinking about bringing my wife’s secondary camera with me in the car, so that I can stop alone the road when I see an amazing landscape. I want to get a sketch pad and work on my fine lines and images. I had my ukulele out for a while and now I have it stored away with a dead tuner, so I haven’t touched that in a while.

I would love to get back into skateboarding, but I am for sure way too out of shape for that at the moment. I still have my last board, I could tool around on it this summer a bit. I may be able to even take it on walks with my family and dog. Who knows. I just want to bring back what used to give me so much joy. I have gotten too far away from things I used to love, and honestly still do. I just have excuses as to why I don’t do them anymore. I either don’t have time, or am just too lazy to do so. To be fair after a long day of work and with a new baby it is harder to find time, but maybe I can start squeezing some of this back into my life. Since college I have filled most of my free time with video games. I do love them too, but I have not done that other stuff because of it. Hell I even love working on cars, I just don’t have the money or the vehicle to fix or modify. lol

Hopefully I can work on these things. I hope you can reflect on things like this as well, and who knows maybe pick up something you put down years ago!

I’ll be back again tomorrow, maybe. I’ll see ya when I see ya! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Follow Up Appointment!

Hey Everyone!

I’m back with a little more content than yesterday haha. Last night, right after work, we took Everett to his follow up appointment. Now this was all of our first time going to this pediatrician, so we weren’t sure what to expect.

We pull up, after the 30 minute drive, and see a pretty normal somewhat small building. Once inside it really opened up. That place looked huge! You are met with a large purple waiting room that is divided for sick children and well children, which I though was really neat. They try to take an extra measure to keep the sick kids away from potential healthy ones. The waiting room of course had some toys, but also had neat things like large front wheeled bicycles hanging from the ceiling. Really cool. We registered in no time and went back shortly after. The hallways are lined with life size stuffed animals and more cool things. It was a very open concept of space with most people working right on that large hallway floor. Another thing to mention is that they are open until 8pm that is unheard of where we live. We are able to get out of work make the 30 minute drive and still be there with time for an hour long appointment. We were there an hour, and most times that would bother me, but it was no big deal. It went by in the blink of an eye because the doctor was very engaging and was helping us actually understand what was going on in the body of our child. She was very relate able, with three boys of her own, as well as knowledgeable. I really think we have found our forever pediatrician.

On to his appointment! We were told he is still breathing fine and that his croup seems to be getting better on its own, which is great. Once we told them that he wasn’t taking his steroids because he was throwing up she said not even to bother with them. Fun fact, I guess those steroids could stunt his growth, which we were unaware of. He is already going to be a shorty, we don’t need to aid that haha. To our surprise she did see that he may have an ear infection starting so she got us an antibiotic. Since Everett tends to get yeast infections while on antibiotics they gave us some sample boxes of probiotics to see if that would help stop the yeast infection. Again everything was just so well delivered that we didn’t even realize we were there so long. We also had them check him for the flu and RSV, both came back negative so we were good there too. ๐Ÿ˜€

Today he is back at the babysitters so we will see how that goes. I have been pretty busy at work today, unlike yesterday. We have had a printer that just up and stopped working. It is networked in and just quit. We have two patches, one on each end and a full run from the wall by the printer to the patch panel. That makes for 3 lines to test. Well….all the lines except the run tested fine, so we got out the super detailed testers and tested the whole thing again. this let us know that approximately 318 feet in on the orange wire there was a disconnect. Once finding that we took a shot in the dark and cut a particular section that could be the problem area and made new ends for the cable. Sure enough it worked. So we are back up and online with that printer. Time spent was probably 2 hours this morning. It feels good to get some really troubleshooting in.

Today was my pay day! Woo, that is until I realize it is all gone ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I paid off most of my bills, then my student loans, Everett’s college fund, my retirement, and have about 20 bucks for gas. R.I.P. my pay check, gone too soon. XD XD

That is about it for me today. I hope you all have a great hump day, and I’ll see you again tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

This & That

Hey Everyone!

I woke up with a very nice sore throat today, that is less than ideal. :/ I’ll be trying my best to not get sick, or get anyone in my house sick as well. That will be tough.

Tonight will be the last stated Masonic meeting of the calendar year. They are serving ham loaf, which sounds awful but is really good haha. We are electing officers tonight for the next Masonic year. I am debating on whether or not I’ll be going, since I don’t feel so great. I won’t be in an elected position, but will will be moving from one chair to another.

I have started working with Amazon’s Mechanical Turk program. I am skeptical and don’t think it will be what I am looking for but who knows, I’ll give it a shot. It seems like to start it is just really simple tasks for a single penny. If that is the case I can make like under $100 a month, which won’t really be worth it. If I can get some better tasks after I get started maybe it will be better.

I have also started watching American Horror Story on Netflix. It is one of those shows that will take a while to watch. You really have to be invested. It is also still currently being made so I won’t have every season available on Netflix. When it comes down to it will be able to watch close to all of the seasons then have to wait for the next ones to hopefully be put on. Oh, and try not to forget what has happened haha. The best news coming from Netflix is that the next season of Black Mirror will be released on the 29th of this month! Yes, yes, yes! I cannot wait to watch them all. If you haven’t seen it yet go watch it. One of my favorites. ๐Ÿ˜€

That is about it for me on this boring Wednesday. I hope to see you all again tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Lazy Tuesday!

Hey Everyone!

Back on a very lazy Tuesday, that is more like a Thursday. Last night I was on baby duty while my wife had an online training. I wanted to work on the snow blower but could not bring our boy out so that was a no go. With any luck and effort I might get to it tonight. Might. After baby duty I was able to sneak away and play a few games of Rainbow 6 with my old college roommate.

Today has been slow at work. It gets like this near a holiday. No one wants to report anything or take the time to let us know something isn’t working properly. This is all well and good but it makes for a pretty boring day. On the other hand we are having lunch for a retired employee today. She was with the company for 17 years. She requested meatball subs and the whole deal, so I’ll have a full belly and want to sleep all afternoon haha.

We are one step close to Thanksgiving and my plans have remained the same. We will be at my families on Thanksgiving and my wife’s on Friday. I also realized that the first day of buck and doe season is Saturday the 2nd here so I’ll be heading into the woods on the first to stay in the unfinished cabin and have an early Saturday hunt. I don’t have enough time to take from work to go out more than a couple days so odds are against me getting anything, but if I do I want to get it processed where my boss does. His deer sticks and bologna is delicious!

Everett seems to have the majority of his illness behind him now. He is feeling much better and has gotten a bunch of mucus out the last few days. We hope we can keep him healthy over the holiday. We are going to be making sure that no one in our families have any sickness before we go over to their place. If they do we will be either very cautious or have to not go, which would suck.

I have no further communications for you at this time. I will see you all again tomorrow and thanks for stopping by! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
