Yep It’s Monday!

Hey Everybody!

To be very honest, I did nothing all weekend long. My goal was to lounge and do nothing only on Saturday. This was achieved, no problem. Sunday I was supposed to have two softball games, these would be my first in 3 weeks due to my vacation. That got scratched real quick when I woke up to rain, rain, and more rain. ALl of the games were canceled by 9am and I was left with no reason to do anything. Again. haha. πŸ˜€

We all stayed home for the most part. We did focus on trying to get Everett back into his better eating habits. We tried introducing a few more foods and in different ways. He responded fairly well to getting back at it. His fever has finally broke and he is feeling much better.

My boss is off on vacation this week. He is going to help his daughter build a deck or something, and wanted to work on his own house. While we are still at work and expected to work, it just feels a bit more lax. I am ok with that. I ran into a snafu with the printers from the UPS program I was to use for the shipping upgrades, and am now dealing with the fallout. I am basically CC’d on all of the emails being sent from our Purchasing Manager, the Sales rep. I used (and shouldn’t have), and the UPS Rep. I’m just sitting here twiddling my thumbs while the argue about who is going to pay for what and how I did it all wrong haha. Whoops. At the end of the day it isn’t the worst thing in the world. If we have to buy the printers I still have a use for them. If we don’t…then great. It is just very awkward to be a spectator.

I would have had a movie review for you but, it may have been the worst movie I have seen in a long time and I didn’t want to go through the hassle of tearing it down on a Monday haha. It was Singularity if you were wondering. To be short, “Don’t bother!”

I did start watching Community over the weekend and was able to squeeze in about 40 episodes haha. I told you I didn’t do anything! πŸ˜€

I hope you are all having a less awkward Monday than I am haha. I hope to see you back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Mother’s Day Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

Soo Happy, belated, Mother’s Day to all of you moms out there!

We had a rainy weekend, but we made the best out of it. Everett was waking up 5:30am so a bit earlier than normal and throwing us off a bit. Saturday morning was lazy, we watched some TV and what not, nothing crazy.

Later we drove a bit out of the way and went to a place with a few big green houses. We picked up a couple of hanging basket ferns for my wife and I grabbed a nice hanging flower basket for my mom. Of course it was raining but it was all ok.

We still had a few minutes before our reservation for dinner so we stopped at a TJ Maxx and Michael’s, where my wife picked up a some stuff for her mom and a few things for a project she wanted to do.

When the time came we headed over to the Fuji Steak House.

It is a Hibachi style restaurant. So we are big fans haha.

This was Everett’s first time at a place like this. He was having a good time.

He wouldn’t let go of that rubber from for anything though haha. The first time he lit the grill on fire he didn’t know what to thing. He was mesmerized by the guy cooking the food and all his tricks with the utensils.

I picked up a fruity girly drink while I was there too, but it was delicious haha.

Once we came home we just spent some time together and watch a movie or two. We also got word that our normally scheduled softball games were canceled due to the weather, so we decided to have breakfast Sunday. This was with my whole family. we normally can only do dinner because we have games during the day. So Sunday morning came and I had hung up her hanging baskets.

Around 8:30am we went to a local spot for a nice breakfast. My brothers and their families were there too. In total we had 8 people and 2 kids.

Afterwards we took some pictures outside of the restaurant.

The only person not in the photos was my dad, because he was the one taking the pictures haha. We then gave my mom her flowers.

It is a big pretty basket so it filled that trunk! After we headed to Lowes to get the rest of the stuff for my wife’s project. I spent the day at home, watching movies, hanging pictures in the hall and other little things. I made spaghetti for her for dinner to end the evening.

Overall it was a great weekend, despite the rain. I hope you all had a great weekend as well! I’ll be back tomorrow, and hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Theta Chi Fraternity! OX

Hey Everyone!

Is is a rainy Tuesday here in Pennsylvania, and not the nice warm kind of rain. It is cold and windy, and looks like night time even though it isn’t. You know what I’m talking about!

I got a welcomed surprise in the mail yesterday. It was my fraternity member directory. You may have already seen it if you follow me on Instagram. (hint hint) πŸ˜‰ Go there: Instagram

I was told that it was backed up on the publishing end of things and that I wouldn’t receive it until sometime in January. Here we are in early December and it is here. I was approached, via phone call to order over a year ago. They told me that they would have to take some time to gather information from every member, and that it would take some time. I was OK with the wait. Because here it is:

This directory has a brief introduction followed by pictures of the members that participated, which I did. After that it has a full listing of brothers, first by chapter, then by location, and finally in alphabetical order. By now you may be wonder how big this thing is. Let me tell you that it is about 1000 pages with what I would say is size 10 font with not much spacing!

That picture does it pretty good justice. This is a nice hard back book that I will be able to keep forever and I am glad I made the purchase. I spent the whole rest of the evening thumbing through it to see who else from my chapter had their picture in. I also sent Snapchat messages to some of the brothers, showing them the book and their information. I found that there were three other brothers from my chapter that sent in information and pictures. I also found that there are quite a few brothers from the same geographic location as me. When it comes down to it, the best find of the night was finding out that my good friend from high school is a brother from the Akron Ohio chapter. I didn’t even know that. He pledged two years before me, and we have been in touch since and it has never come up. How crazy is that? I was at his wedding, he was at my wedding, and I have seen him a few other times since. Weird!

Going in another direction now, I want to ask you guys something about working from home, or remotely in any way. I guess first off do any of you do that sort of thing, in any capacity? If so give me some details if you can. I know my wife is looking for a better option for us and would love to stay home with Everett more. I have often though about it as well. Are there any tips you could offer, or places to visit? It is hard for me to think that I haven’t really been able to monetize the blog in any real way, since I do it everyday. I’m just not sure how to go about it since I’m not really selling a product or service. I know there are life blogs that make money but I don’t know the first thing about it. Maybe if any of you fine folk have insight on that and want to share, that would be A OK with me. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Anyway I hope you all have a great Tuesday, and I will do the same. Our year is winding down. Some may o out with a bang, others with a whimper. Either way you choose just make the best of it. I’ll be back again tomorrow, I’ll see you then. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Lazy Work Day!

Hey Everyone!

Today is Halloween! Here at work we had donuts and apple cider, in the morning. We also had a luncheon where people just brought a ton of stuff in. It was, of course, delicious andΒ  not good for you haha. A few people in the office dressed up, most did not, myself included. I suck haha. I am always behind the eight ball with gearing up for holiday outfits.

Tonight we are passing out candy to all the little ones. I went out in the cold last night and positioned my projector light where I wanted it. With the weather being bad and us being on a main road I didn’t want the weather to ruin it or have it get stolen. So I got it where I wanted it and then put it away until tonight haha. It’ll be a cold two hours sitting outside but it should be fun. My mom asked if we were coming over to their house at all, and I’m not really sure why. I told her we may come but I’m not to certain we have the time. Between us getting out of work and getting home by 4:30, my wife pumping and me setting the lights back up we would be cutting it close to have anytime over there at all.

Tomorrow is pay day and I’m glad it is haha. It is all spoken for of course but it will be a breath of fresh air. A weight will be lifted even if it is only for two days before I pay bills again lol. I have to work on saving hard again to get that plumbing issues resolved, fingers crossed. I don’t really have any plans until the weekend. We are going back to my wife’s hometown for our nephew’s first birthday party. We are going a day early to spend time with her grandparents.

That is all for my daily life post. I’ll see you again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Game 5, Binging & Halloween!

Hey Everyone!

I would like to report that I had a lazy and uneventful weekend! For me, this is a success haha. It was cold, rainy, blah and I made the most by staying inside, binging Stranger Things 2, and eating food that I shouldn’t. Side note, I have been slipping, well falling flat on my face, with my diet. Yikes! I have to try super hard to get back in the right mindset.

I stayed in, only leaving to get groceries, and take out the trash haha. I watched Ohio State beat Penn State in college football. That was a close back and fourth game jeez! I also watched three World Series baseball games. I don’t follow baseball very well, but when you have a weekend like this and the biggest series of the season it is easy to fall back in love with the sport. The Dodgers and Astros are making this one for the record books. Last night’s game five was a spectical to behold.Β  If you are interested here is the whole game, condensed into 28 minutes: Right………HERE!

We carved pumpkins! How could I forget that? Here is Everett’s first look at a pumpkin. Ever.

If that doesn’t crack you up you have no soul! He warmed up to it pretty nicely though.

Once we were done, there was nothing left but to put them on the porch and light them up!

The one I made on the right is a bit weird haha. I cut the top out and quickly realized there was no way in hell I was getting my hand in there. So I made sure I cut a mouth big enough to get the candle in haha.

Tomorrow night we will be passing out candy to all the youngsters. I’ll try to get a head count for your benefit and mine for future years.

That is all for me today I hope you all had a great weekend! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What A Fun Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was a blast. I mean nothing crazy happened, but it was an all around good time. It really started on Saturday. My wife left in the morning to get her hair done for the first time since having the baby. It was something she really wanted to get done, so I’m glad I was able to watch Everett while she did that.

Once she got home, I packed my stuff and headed to camp. Before I left I stopped at a place that over looks most of my whole city. I had a nice panorama, but it looked weird when I threw it on here.

Once I got to camp I helped my brother and dad, who got there before me. We brought wood and supplies to the site. Here are the 4″ pieces that we used to cover the cracks of the other boards.

When we were on the last board, we had to notch it. This was to ensure that it would fit around a stud. I was notching it out with a hand saw when it jumped up off the board and sliced my thumb. It was pretty bad but I got it wrapped up quickly.

It is a bit hard to do most things with your thumb covered like this haha. I had a glove over it so I would not get dirt and stuff in it. Plus, I was staying the night so I was going to be there a long time.

Anyway, with that set back out of the way we were able to get the pieces up!

Since we had more boards from the last time, we started work on one of the ends. It gets the most weather so we wanted to cover it up a bit. We are going to, possibly slat shingle the peaks, and cover the cracks with more 4′” boards like the front.

A couple of my brother’s friends showed up as well as my older brother. They hung around most of the day. But after a while I was getting hungry for that juicy steak I told you all I would get. I threw it down on our grill over some hot coals and let it ride.

While that was cooking up nicely, my brother’s friend Ben made me a drink. Stick with me as I explain what’s in it. He mixed bourbon and blueberry preserves in an empty water bottle. Once it was shaken together he poured it through a strainer and into my cup. Similarly, he mixed lemonade and club soda and poured that in too. To finish it off he squeezed a lemon in there and here is what we have!

It was really dang good. I had a couple of those and enjoyed my steak.

Once everyone left I hung out by the fire until it got dark. I threw a few more logs on because I wanted coals for breakfast.I decided to just roll my sleeping bag out in the cabin and stay there for the night. It looked creepy but it was better than a tent!

With my head lamp on I started into my new book! I only got a few chapters in before I turned in for the night.

I’m pretty glad I slept in the cabin because it rained pretty hard that night. Which did ruin my breakfast plans. I had no coals and with the clouds over head it stayed dark longer than I had hoped. When I woke up I packed my things and just headed home. You can see below what it was like on my way out.

I stopped off to get pop tarts for breakfast and brought them home for my wife. It is a craving she has somewhat often so I figured it was a good choice. We ran around Sunday and got groceries, as well as cleaned up around the house. My mother in-law came down and wanted to spend some time with Everett. That gave me some time to play a few video games. I checked the mail later and was pleased to find two pieces of mail from real people haha. First a card from my great aunt Arlene. It was a “First Halloween” card fro our son.

The second was a nice thank you from my brother and his wife.

We closed out the weekend with some Netflix and ice cream. Sounds good huh?

That is all for me. It was a fun weekend and I’m glad I got some time in the woods! I’ll be back tomorrow, see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Birthday Party, Crafts, & Football!

Hey Everyone!

IT”S FRIDAY!!!!!!!

We are starting to see the ass end of hurricane Harvey. It is just bringing some rain and that is about it. We have had one storm but it wasn’t very serious. I hope that it clears up a bit for tomorrow though. Tonight the wife and I are going to look for a 1st birthday gift for our niece. It is hard to believe that she is about to be a year old!

Here is a little baby pic of her:

To a week from being 1:

What a change! She is a beautiful little girl. They are having a party for her Sunday. The rest of the night we will just spend indoors cuddled up with something to keep us occupied.

Saturday, weather permitting, we are going to a craft festival. It is held each year at our local fairgrounds.Β  My wife’s family will come into town and meet us there. They have live music, great food, and local vendors a plenty! Our goal is to make a day of it, but again it will be reliant on weather cooperation.

Sunday, like stated earlier, we are going to my niece’s birthday party. That won’t take more than two hours I’m assuming. Then on to a great part of my year, football season. I am a fan of all things Dallas, so naturally my team is the Cowboys. Sunday night they play the Giants, which is a divisional game. This one is a big deal for us, since they were the only team during the regular season who beat us! That is something they plan on correcting from last year. On another great note, the Patriots, who most everyone hates, lost their very first game to the Chiefs last night. It was a beautiful thing. A few analysts predicted that they were better than last year, and would go 16-0, well so much for that! πŸ˜€ That made my night.

I’ll be back again on Monday and hope to have a few good pictures to show you all! I’ll see you then. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

How Busy Can One Man Be? (Pictures)

Hey Everyone!

Back again on a dreary, Monday. It is colder than it was all weekend and still rainy. That being said there were a lot of things being done this weekend. I’ll quickly go through them, since I have a few more pictures than I normally do.

First up I got what I could out of my frozen cider! It was a little more than 2 liters. This is what I expected from 2 gallons of cider. I wish it was a bit clearer, but its not bad. I had some and it is definitely alcoholic haha.

Saturday we were up nice and early and going to get some work done on the cabin. We put the rest of the roof up and they did a few more floor boards without me and a wall frame.

(Below) You have my little brother, trying his best to attache the roof, without sliding off of it. You can wee how wet it is.

(Below) My dad and older brother are probably in a discussion about that piece on the right going up a certain way. It was nice that my older brother could come up. he works second shift and his sleep is all messed up.

Later after I left I went home and took my wife to Olive Garden for dinner, then strolled the mall.

On our way back, we passed a dinner that I always want to make time for and never do. I asked her if she would want to go the next morning (Sunday) for breakfast, and she said yes. We got up and got there about 8:30-9:00am. It is a small place but with great food.

You can see the walls were decked out with old pop cans and signs.

The tables are are covered with a glass sheet, but have cards, records and ads from old magazines under it.

Here is just a shot of how small it really is. That is the kitchen there in the middle.

They also had some memorabilia, that boarded on the creepy haha. It was displayed liek this in a few spots. with old toys and dolls.

Here is the store front, and you could guess that it sits right on Rt. 62! Go figure.

To put it in perspective, here is what is directly across the street.

It was a good decision to stop there for breakfast. Later that day my wife’s grandparents made the trip and came over to see us. We went and looked at teh local dam, which is a huge tourist attraction. Later we headed to Applebees for a less than satisfying lunch.

After they left, I followed a thought I had had for a while and bought two Roku Express thingys, for my TVs.

They were super easy to set up and after restarting my router I connected just fine. Everything is fast and responsive. We now have three network enabled TVs in our home. My office is becoming complete haha. I also have a futon mattress being delivered Thursday! I’m very excited.

I hope you all had a great weekend, and hopefully better weather! I’ll see you all again tomorrow. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

The More You Know!

Hey Everyone!

Today has been one of those weird days down the rabbit hole, for me. cab84f342994cac8ca51f7cab0ccfdbd_400x400

Since I have been at work today I have been stuck on exploring all sorts of things online. I think it started with my favorite YouTuber Philip DeFranco talking about the seven new exoplanets. So it began with space exploration, which if you know me is always an interest of mine. This led me to learn a bit more about SETI (Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence) I have had my three PCs using their idle time to analyze data. I asked the leader of the Danish team I am on about what we were doing to help, and he told me this:

“Ok, here`s some info:
your computer analysis a data bit called “work unit” ( you might already know this πŸ™‚ )
it searches for some things called: Spikes, Pulses, Gaussians and Triplets and if they will appear more than once at the same spot/location where it was recorded
at the given radio telescope (Arecibo in Pueto Rico or the newer Green Bank, West Virginia)
hope that did give you some more info you were looking for.

I found out that they collect about 36GB of data per 24 hours. There are 140,000 work units in 36GB of data. Each work unit takes 30 hours to analyze fully! It was coming out to 4.2 million hours to process just one days worth of data! That is ridiculous, I see why they couldn’t just buy the computers themselves, it would cost a fortune. So lending your PC is a huge help.

I also found out that what they were looking for, those spikes and pulses, was to see those same things over and over again in the same spot in the sky. They want to see if there is anything out there emitting a signal from the same spot consistently, thus leading them to believe that something is there. Spooky!

Then I started to check out those observatories he mentioned. They are pretty neat and the one in West Virginia is only six hours away from me. πŸ˜€ I may check it out sometime. This lead me down a path of informational YouTube videos. I looked into Ted Talks on computer security, hacking, and the deep web. After that I went deeper into the abyss by watching Vice videos on Slab City in California, and a cult leader in Russia who believes that he is Jesus haha. Super random, I know but I could only pull myself away to write this up!

After all this I got a text from my wife saying that our couches were delivered! YAY!!! Here is the text I got:

I now am tasked with getting a haircut, bringing these in the house and unwrapping them, as well as getting the old couches over to my brother’s garage. this will be another night where I won’t be able to figure out my tub situation. Oh well, another day!Β  It is supposed to be super rainy and thunderstormy the next few days but I think we may still head up tomorrow after work and work on the cabin a bit.

Thanks for stopping in today, I really appreciate it! Feel free to let me know if you ever catch yourself getting caught up in weird videos, on off the wall topics. It doesn’t happen to me often but when it does it is pretty rough haha. I hope to see you all back again tomorrow, c-ya! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
