Weekend Update!

Hey Everyone!

Our plans for Saturday didn’t happen. We were going to go back to see my wife’s family and that all fell through. We spent the day at home, doing a bit of everything.

Sunday was similar up until dinner. We headed over to my parent’s house. It was Super Bowl Sunday and my parents always throw a party. Nothing crazy, just some family and what not. We, as I have stated before, weren’t going to stay for the majority of the game. We got there early and let everyone spend some time with Everett and all that good stuff. My brother and his little family came and my niece Rory had some nice little pig tails in.

Here is her and my dad putting her baby doll in the play set.

1

Her she is again trying to give Everett her doll. He was clearly watching the TV or someone else in the room lol.

2

Rory is sitting with my dad in this one talking with my Aunt.

3

We had homemade pizza and plenty of snacks. There was everything from veggies, to chips, venison balls, and brownies. We stayed a bit later than we planned, but I figured that would happen once people were there. It was a good night. We got home at a decent time and put Everett to bed around 9pm.

My wife has the week off to burn some vacation time. If she doesn’t use it she loses it so why not right? She sent me this picture of Everett playing in the new jumper I bought him Sunday.

He really seems to like it. The three buttons by the globe speak in English, Spanish, and French. It is a nice learning tool for that age. All sorts of things make noise on that thing haha.

So now I’m stuck at work while they are home all week. 😦 Oh well. I have to do what I have to do I suppose! That is all for me today. I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What A Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This has been a quick but full weekend. It was pretty fun, but that always means that it will go to quick.

Saturday morning started very normally. We got up had coffee, breakfast, and watched some local news. Everett was safely playing in our make shift area haha. Don’t mind the dog’s ass πŸ˜‰

20180106_102343

All was well and good. Later that day is when it got interesting. I went in to work with my co-worker to replace an old network location. It was out in the shop up on a mezzanine. I wasn’t able to get a shot of it all whole so here is the first one I took.

20180106_134711

Pretty messy right? Ya, we thought so too. Once that was done we pulled it off the wall and that is when the fun began.

20180106_142236

Our goal was to make sure that none of the fiber lines broke, make sure we knew where everything was supposed go again, and put it all back together nice and neat in this new rack.

20180106_172932

This is when we we getting close to being done. As you can tell it is getting dark. We have the switches at the top and patch panels below that. Further down we have a shelf for out laptop and a new battery backup at the bottom.

I had my co-worker send me a picture once he tidied up a bit. It is all up and running well today.

signal-2018-01-06-181528

The reason I had to leave, just before it was finished was because we were celebrating my little brother’s 28th birthday. It was at the local bowling ally, where were had our whole family gathered and ate pizza and wings.

Everett wanted to keep score with my dad and older brother, that is until he ripped the sheet haha.

20180106_181731

Notice that the corner of the sheet is gone in the next one and that he seems quite happy with himself haha.

20180106_183907_001

Later, after we played two games the birthday boy and his daughter got to go down to the end of the lane so she could try to hit the pins. The zoom sucks but it was a cute moment. We know the guy who runs the ally so he was cool with it all.

20180106_194506

We packed up and went to my parents house where we had ice cream cake from the DQ! That is always a bonus.

20180106_201553

20180106_201618

Everett was content with a pad of paper. Not sure why he is into such weird stuff.

20180106_201558

That was it for Saturday. As for Sunday we got some work done around the house. I shoveled the side walk. It was a lounge type of day since it was so busy Saturday. I was fine with the day ending like that, but it didn’t. Everett’s cough came on fast and barky. We dropped everything we were doing at about 4:30 and ran him to the local clinic, only to find out that they don’t see children that young. (Side note: That is F*cking stupid) Anyway, we called another clinic about 30 minutes away and were able to get him in there just fine. He has croup again, and they prescribed him a steroid. So great, we thought it would be better from there. It wasn’t, we took him home and gave it to him and he threw up instantly. We tried again after eating this morning and he instantly threw up his whole bottle. My guess is that he is allergic. He is back at the babysitter today and we are going to push through it. I think we go see our new pediatrician in a couple days for a follow up, so I’ll letΒ  you know how that goes.

We slept on the couch last night since Everett went down last night refusing his bottle. We didn’t want to wake him again, for fear of him not going back to sleep. Needless to say, but we are a little tired today haha.

Work is going well, the only down side is seeing the snow piling up today. I’ll have about 6-10 inches to shovel again after work. I try to think of it as a workout haha.

That is all for me, I hope you all had a great weekend. I’ll see you again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

I’m Back! (Reunion Update)

Hey Everyone!

Let me start by saying that this could easily fill a whole weeks worth of posts. It won’t because then I would have to spend waaaayyyy too much of my time splitting it all up haha.

So, I’m back from my week long family reunion, and boy did I have a great time! I think I overheard that the total number of people in attendance this year was around 90-95. That makes for a ton of good conversation, and a busy week. I got there one night before it started and helped with some last minute prepping. There were only a handful of us there then. One of the last things we needed to do was shop for the first two days worth of food. To make it harder we had to make sure that all foo and gluten allergies were taken into account. Here is the food receipt for the first two days lol.

round one of reunion food ~ whoa!!.jpeg

You really don’t want to know how much that came to haha.

To get a decent lay of the land here are a couple pictures showing where most people were staying:

IMG_2174IMG_2175

It is just a huge yard that we turned into a motel.

As people would arrive they could take the golf cart and trailer to unload their stuff for the week.

peace dude.jpeg

I had mentioned before that we had a few (understatement) kids coming. I can now tell you that off the top of my head there were more than 15 kids under the age of 10!

20170810_19030720170811_10502520170811_11273220170811_11333220170811_14285720170811_19414620170812_09052820170812_14182620170812_14183720170813_14255820170813_14274120170813_18274620170814_115209IMG_2220IMG_2256IMG_2257IMG_2266IMG_2287

Sometimes you party too hard haha!

mini donuts for silassilas having fun in sand & water table

Now if these pictures haven;t got you asking what are they doing in some of these I don’t know what will! Throughout the week there were games everyday. Some of the games were for kids only ( I played), some were for adults, most were for both. Our daily guideline board looked like this each day:

IMG_2168.JPG

Each day as split up and this was posted where we ate, in and off of the garage. With that many people we had birthdays each day!

Some of the activities were physical, others mental, and most of all very fun!

As you saw the kids played twister, well so did we!

20170810_185311IMG_1789

I’m there in the camo hat with the black shirt. I didn’t last very long haha. They guy in the green hat filming is my cousin who lives in Santa Barbara California. He is a film maker. He is putting together a short film about being here during the reunion, so he was everywhere as well.

Sometime during the week we also played a yard sized game of Memory, and had some scavenger hunts.

IMG_1849

That is me out there pointing. I was having a few of the kids help me with my guesses.

20170811_111544IMG_1856IMG_1898

When that was all said and done my team won by one pair! Go Pink Team!

The first ‘hunt’ was to match items in nature to the color swatches, it was a lot harder than we all thought. Here is what we gathered.

20170811_101136

Not bad! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

The next one involved finding clues to a puzzle leading you to other clues. It was as tough as it sounds as well.

IMG_2215img_2216.jpg

The finished image relates to the layout of where we were.

We had a relay race at some point and then played my favorite game of the week, Human Foosball!

IMG_1749

There was some ‘Skip-It’ action, Hula Hoops, and jump roping!

IMG_1755

The Foosball games were intense and fun. You had to hold on to the piece of PVC pipe and not let go. It was on rope just like the little guys in a Foosball table. First one to five wins!

IMG_2113IMG_2122IMG_2136

My team won and then I helped the little kids play after. Those pictures are up with the kids. When you could find a bit of down time people played cards.

IMG_1992.JPG

A little backstory is needed for this next activity. Months before the reunion we were asked to fill out a questionnaire. It was filled with questions like, what is you best advice, name a fact about yourself, etc… Well they turned it into a matching game. We all huddled up and tried to match the person to the answer! A lot of work went into that and it was fun to play. My best advice was to “Smell your milk” lol. Boy I’m special.

IMG_2015.JPG

I’m sure you have all seen things in the news about people painting rocks and hiding them in parks for people to find. Some are inspirational others are just spreading happiness. Well during the whole week we had a station dedicated to painting rocks, with a hashtag on the back for the reunion. We had everyone take theirs home with them and spread them around. We hope that we see the rocks again when people find them, by following the hashtag.

IMG_210720170814_194006

The kids dyed some shirts:

IMG_1906IMG_2178IMG_2179

A handful of the girls found a spot in the woods and made “‘Bear Camp’. We then made a thing out of it and showed everyone!

20170813_11110320170813_11370420170813_142104IMG_2201IMG_2205

Since this whole event is because of my great grandparents, we are fairly big into genealogy. My one cousin created a nice slideshow presentation covering some of that early history. he was able to present it four different times to different crowds throughout the week.

20170812_200357

Above is my little Everett, who is named after the guy below. His great great grandfather!

20170812_20051320170812_210158

It is really interesting to still have people alive at this reunion that can fill in some minor details that you would otherwise never get. Four of the remaining six children are still with us today. That being said there are some that couldn’t be with us and those of us who like that sort of thing, go to the cemeteries around to look for old relatives.

20170813_16263320170814_17490020170814_18353520170815_11131620170815_111338

This last picture is of my great grandfather’s, grandfather! This was the headstone that we were looking to find! Mission accomplished haha.

Nearing the end of this post I swear!

What family reunion would be complete without food and fires!?! We had great homemade food all week and treats from the Amish. We were also surprised to have a mini doughnut truck there one day!

20170810_080428

This was the first and most healthy breakfast I had. It was all downhill from there lol.

20170810_201652

Here we have the popcorn and cotton candy machine!

20170812_090109

These were pastries made by an Amish woman my great aunt Jackie knows. They were better than this picture could ever capture!

20170812_173126

We had a make your own pizza bar!

Then on to the doughnuts:

20170813_15265520170813_15294820170813_153054

We could choose from powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, or chocolate! Again, absolutely delicious. Straight out of the fryer and into your mouth!

And the fires!

20170813_21242620170814_210723

At the end of the week my dad was awarded with the MVP trophy and instantly awarded it back to my cousin who helped organized this whole reunion!

20170814_20121120170814_201253

And the remainder of the pictures fit in no category, so I’ll just post them here. Great family fun, and love everywhere you turned!

Birthday Weekend & Ingress Meetup!

Hey Everyone!

I have a few pictures here to help me tell you about my fun weekend.

Friday My wife took me out for an early birthday dinner at the Still House. We wanted to do something alone since on my actual birthday we spend it with family. I got a nice moonshine cocktail with dinner. I think it was black cherry shine, with unfiltered back berry juice, mixed in some sort of sprite or 7 Up. It was delicious either way. My diet/healthy lifestyle took a back seat this weekend. I had a very good black and blue burger with pizza logs that night.

20170714_181908

Saturday I took my time getting up, but was still up by 7am with my baby. I eventually got ready for the day. We had our annual Ingress picnic, in Kane Pa. this year. I made sure to get a corny ‘about to be on the road’ picture for you all haha.

20170715_111458

I made my way to Kane to meet up with the other members of the Wardens of the PA Wilds crew. We had eight people there this year. There was supposed to be a few more of us there, but little things pop up in life all the time. We met in one of the local parks, where we would do most of our game play later in the day. We soon left and went to Bob’s Trading Post for some pizza, and to wait for the other crew members to join us. I had not ever been to the trading post, but the food was delicious, and the outdoor seating was great for a nice day.

20170715_133421

The rest of the afternoon was spent playing the game around Kane and basically stocking up on all of the gear we could need in the near future. Over all the day was a success. The weather held off, the people were great as usual, the food was spectacular, and we did what we went there to do! πŸ˜€ I can’t wait until the next meet up.

Later that day I took a drive with my wife and baby. With Ingress still running through my veins, I wanted more. We drove out to a few scenic locations, while I blew up a few links and fields. But while we were there we took in some of the sights.

20170715_20131920170715_201818

That was a great way to close out the day.

Sunday morning I woke up with this little guy.

20170716_074206

It was also my 29th birthday! Woo, getting older!

I had my coffee and Everett and I watched some Longmire on Netflix. I didn’t have much time because our first softball game was at 9am. I pitched both games and made a few really nice plays from the ‘mound.’ We won the first game easily beating them by 10 in the 5th inning. We had a one game wait before our next game, so we hung out and watched the other game.

20170716_104747

The second game could have been very close, but we managed to keep our defense tight and our hitting average. We beat this team by 10 in the 6th, with a score of 20 to 10. So two convincing wins on the day, as well as decent weather. It did rain, for like, one inning then it stopped and got humid.

Later that day after I got all cleaned up, we headed out for my birthday dinner. Every year on our birthdays we get to pick where our family goes to eat. It is a nice tradition that has been going on for years now. I chose to go to the Forester. It is a small restaurant in the middle of nowhere. In the forest, go figure! Here is the little man in his flannel:

20170716_175712

I ordered the Flat Iron, which is a 10oz. piece of beef, with a side of perogies and veggies. Before I could do anything about it, it was gone….

20170716_184427

It was too good to not eat right when I got it. Afterwards we all went back to my parents house for ice cream cake! My niece Rory is pretty much interested in everything so here they are hangin out.

20170716_200402

We also decked her out with my older brothers hat. It doesn’t quite fit but she kept it on longer than we thought she would.

20170716_203319

That was a great way to round out the weekend. Once we got home it was pretty much straight to bed. I am still at work alone for the next two weeks, so we will see how this goes! Wish me luck.

I’ll be back again tomorrow, I hope to see you all then. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Dinner, Parking, & Being Productive

Happy Hump Day!!

Last night we were invited to a casual pizza dinner at a good friends house. She is married with a baby. Her brother and his wife were also there, he is also a good friend of mine. They have twin 2 year old boys. I think of that whole family as my second family. I have known then since I was five years old. I was with them most days from 5 to 18 years old. We got there right about 6:30pm and got right to dinner. All three of the kids were running around and having a great time. There was plenty of things for them to play with. My wife and I hadn’t been in their house yet so this was the first time. We didn’t take any kind of tour, but we did see a good portion of the house just being there. It was nice and spacious. This dinner was a good way to break up the monotony of everyday life. We all get stuck in a rhythm and patterns, and rarely break out of them. It was nice to see them and their kids. We were able to catch up on life and enjoy ourselves. We plan on doing this more often since we had a great time.

This morning and I guess all week, we haven’t been able to park in our usual lot at work. They are in the process of repaving it. This generally isn’t a big deal. Yesterday I apparently parked in a ‘No Parking’ spot. Someone called me and let me know. I guess I was parked in a spot that can sometimes block big Mac trucks from pulling into our garage bays (whoops). Again it was no big deal but it was kind of funny. I got down there and moved my truck in a matter of minutes, but its funny that we lost so much parking yet no one is really affected by it.

Today has been a good day. Not only is it the middle of the week, but I have been productive all day. It is a great feeling. My co-worker isn’t here today, and that isn’t even why I’m busy. I have been setting up a couple of new PCs for a few guys in the shop, I was able to figure out why I couldn’t get AVG for business running on my PC, I started setting up a third PC for a girl who will be starting next week in our HR department, and have been running around all day putting out minor ‘fires’ for people. In the mean time while cleaning all the technology out of a retired mans office I found his speakers. So instead of looking goofy with a make shift, one ear, headset I have speakers for the first time in my office. I also have a big fraternity paddle leaning on my wall that has gotten a ton of attention. It is the only decoration in my entire office. I would like to have a plant of two but I don’t have any windows to the outdoors. I might need a cactus or even one of those desk ecosystems. Anyway I’ll talk to you more tomorrow.

Have a great rest of the day! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
