Around The Water Cooler!

Hey Everyone!

Its Friday! Thank goodness, I’m ready for the weekend. I never got around to cutting the grass last night, so I’ll have to do that tonight.

Another thing I’m going to to tonight is go hit a bucket of golf balls with my co-worker. He wanted to anyway and since I’m play tomorrow as well he invited me along. I can use all of the help I can get.Β  πŸ˜€

Everett is obsessed with putting things away, and in containers lately. It is really kind of helpful and funny at the same time. For instance, he will walk over and put his dirty diaper in the correct trash bin, all we have to do is open and close it. He will also hold and put the dog food scooper back in the food bin when I am done feeding the dog. On the other hand he stacks his food on his sippy cups, and puts his shoes in the cabinets.

1

So either way its awesome! He cracks us up every single day.

He has just, in the last couple of days started to spin. You know how most babies will kind of waddle around in a large circle to turn around or just fall down and twist around? He was doing that too, but has now found enough balance to spin right around. He does it constantly and gets dizzy half the time. It makes him laugh to turn that fast.

Today I got a text from my wife about Everett being Everett. He is all over and into everything. Today she caught him crawling up and standing on his train.

2

For what reason? I have no idea, probably just to see if he could. He is at the stage where he will be climbing on everything and getting up the stairs and everything. He is more mobile everyday. We have a second room in our attic that we want to turn into a library of sorts, and my wife had the idea to turn it into a play area for him. While she is working in the other room he can be in there playing with free reign to go between the two rooms. All we need it to clean that room up a bit and get a gate for the top of the stairs and we would be in business. I really wish I had the money now to get a contractor in there and build those book shelves. Oh well, some day I hope. πŸ˜€

That is it for me today! I’ll be golfing tomorrow, and being lazy Sunday! I hope you have a great weekend, and I’ll see you all again Monday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Birthday Girl! (&Some Work Stuff)

Hey Everyone!

It was one of those days again, yesterday. It was a fairly calm day until just before lunch.

My co-worker called me up and needed me to bring him a tool. He was in our other shop location, and was sick of driving back and forth. He offered to buy me lunch, so of course I was in! πŸ˜€ That is why I wasn’t able to post yesterday. I was helping him gt the WiFi up and running at our other location. It took about an hour, then we stopped off and grabbed a sub from the local gas station that makes them pretty well. I picked up a weird taco sub, with Doritos, and your general taco stuff. It was really good! That busy momentum from before carried all the way through the afternoon.

If we go back a bit further, it was my wife’s birthday yesterday! I got up ad made her a breakfast sandwich, with some strawberries, and an iced coffee. I was able to fix Everett some breakfast too, taking some of the load off of her. She and Everett have been getting up later since she starts work later now, so she has been getting stuck making her own breakfast most days.

I ordered her a camera bag that she has wanted for some time. It was on back order for ever and still won’t ship out until the 31st but it is worth the wait. I let her know she had that coming and now she is super excited and can’t wait to receive it.

If you would like to take a look around that small shop click the link: Here!

After work let out, and my wife finished up working as well we got ready to go out for dinner. I let her pick where she wanted to go and she decided on the local Taco Hut! They have some of the best ‘south of the border’ food around us. My wife got some Fajitas, I got the steak tacos, and we split a nacho buffet! πŸ˜€

31.jpg

Everett picked off of our plates. He really seemed to like the beans more than anything, but also had rice and chips as you can see from his chin haha. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ That rounded out our day and we just spent the night watching New Girl re-runs and lounging.

Today, so far is a terrible day for the terminals in our shop. I came in to three of them not working correctly and have only been able to get 1 back online. I took a break from them to write this because they are driving me nuts.

These are the two models that have been failing hard lately. They are both about 20+ years old and need to be thrown out, but until we upgrade the whole thing they need to work. If you don’t already know 20 year old technology is not something you want incorporated in your modern business haha. πŸ˜€

that is all for me today! I hope you have a great hum day and I’ll be back again tomorrow! (as long as nothing drags me away again) πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

It is 7:54 am and I remembered! I came into this day knowing I had a lot going on. I have get a few things to my boss and continue the deployment of a couple PCs. I also have to contact the modular home company that we may be using, to get a quote for a house with and without a basement. In that same area I have to get a hold of our friend who would be willing to do our basement for us. Once we have all this information and are good on our end we will pass it on to her grandfather. From there he will see if he is able to do it for us 100% and with any luck it will start rolling! Then everything will be a big ol’ mess haha. Here is the plan we are looking at:

20180309_075917.jpg

It isn’t big, but it is bigger than what we have believe it or not. We would go without the garage for the time being and add a double later on.

Other than that, Happy Friday! We made it. Do you have anything going on this weekend? I know here in the east we are getting hit with another round of snowstorms, so we may stay in most of the weekend. Although, my wife has an engagement photo shoot scheduled for Saturday. The couple wanted snow pictures, so what better weekend haha.We have to travel a bit to get there, but we may go earlier and head to the book store to make a day of it.

I hope this work day slides right on through, so I can start my weekend! I’ll see you all again Monday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What A Day!

Hey Everyone!

Let me run down a recap of the rest of my Monday. I left work early to have enough time to gather my dog’s urine and take it to the Vet for further testing. She had a UTI and I wanted to make sure that it was all cleared up and that she was good to go! To be short, they called back and said she was all clear. Again I took her on the leash and slid a dinner plate under her haha. I scared her a little bit this time so she stopped going. I had to transfer the urine into a baggie because I didn’t have a different small container with a lid. It took some real skill to do all of this, I’m sure you can imagine haha.

I was all ready to head to the Vet and my wife had picked Everett up for his 9 month checkup. The timing was great. I was ready to go, and so was she. We grabbed Everett and headed out. We hit up the Vet first and then headed to his appointment. We made it there with about 30 seconds to spare. The called his name and back we went.

The appointment didn’t really go so well, unfortunately. :/ He only needed one shot, so that was good, but he seemed to be in rough shape other wise. He has another yeast infection on his bottom, and a double ear infection. This after he just got over the Flu. They gave us a referral to meet with an ear, nose, and throat doctor in Buffalo, for tubes. We have time to decide if he really needs them or not, but we may as well get the process started. After the appointment we had to grab some groceries. We hit up the local Wegmans and had some subs there, before shopping for food. That way we didn’t shop on an empty stomach. Everett was having the best time, because for the first time he was able to sit in the cart and see everything.

17-korea-unified-flag-olympics.w710.h473.jpg

He is still a bit tiny so we watched him closely but he did great. We finished grabbing groceries and headed home. Once we were back in town we had to pick up his two prescriptions at the local CVS. He needed stuff for his ears and cream for his baby butt.

By the time we really got home, it was about bead time. We unpacked, and put everything away, and that was that.

One thing I forgot to mention, was that Everett also bonked his head at daycare and had a nice bruise on his head. I just told her that he is now crawling and pulling himself up. I did all of this so that she would pay attention to him and make sure he wasn’t doing anything that was going to result in something like that. :/ I guess he pulled up on a toy and was bouncing around, while holding on to it. He fell forward and hit his face. He also got a bloody nose…DOH! I just wish they did a better job at watching him. Sadly there is nothing or no one in the area willing to watch kids this young. So again, our options are more than limited. I feel trapped a bit, because I have to have child care, but the care isn’t up to snuff. This then leads to us not feeling comfortable with him being there for safety reasons, but having no where to go.

We will see how today goes when I pick him up.

That is all from me today! I hope you are having a great Tuesday. I know I am taking some time to chill after yesterday’s all day affair haha.Β  I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What A Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was a fun one for me. I didn’t just sit at home the whole time and wish the weather was better.

We were trying to dodge the Flu though, and I think my wife lost that battle. I for one, am still doing fine for the most part. I have a stuffy head, but she is feeling all the aches and pains. 😦

We can start off of Saturday! I woke up bright and early and got ready, like normal, because….I had a Masonic seminar most of the day. It was about an hour and a half away and my cousin and one other guy were going with. We left our city at about 7am and teh meeting started at 9am. I corresponded with my wife’s grandpa, so I could drop offΒ  our documents for taxes. Two birds. One stone. πŸ˜‰ We arrived a bit early, like you should, and signed in. We continued down aΒ  line of tables and got our folder with information for the day and then the good stuff. Next came the doughnuts and coffee! I had too many doughnuts and that is all I’ll say, but they were good.

The meeting was for people looking to move through the ranks in lodge. It covered everything, in basic form, you would need to run a lodge as a Worshipful Master for a whole year. We were able to asks questions in an open format and have a couple good conversations. There were mentors and District Deputy Grand Masters there from all over the state. So, lots of knowledge there for the picking! These type of events are fun, because you can really get a sense of how big the organization is and how big of an impact they make on the community. For lunch we had some homemade sloppy Joe’s, egg salad sandwiches, veggies, soup, and apple pie. Afterwards we had a presentation of organ donation and blood donations. As a Mason, signed up for the blood club, you are able to ensure that if you ever need blood that we will get it. This is of course after insurance pays for what they can. It also covers your immediate family, so that is very nice to be a part of. We finished up our little lecture and were out of there around 1:30pm. We waited around a bit and my wife’s mom brought over some frozen goods we should have had the weekend we didn’t go back. I guess you can retract my previous statement and say we killed three birds with one stone. πŸ˜€

Sunday we wanted to get out a little bit since, other than my meeting, we had been cooped up for a while. Everett has gotten over the Flu and we figured some fresh are was much deserved. The weather was somewhat chilly but it felt good to me, with the appropriate attire. So we went for our first walk all winter! We made sure to bundle Everett up as best we could:

6

We were able to sit him up more since he is bigger. He seemed to like being able to see more. I was wondering how much he would remember since developmentally he hadn’t really been on a walk in months. He can now see further and start to understand his surroundings. We also had to stop and take a nice family photo along the way:

1

Everett didn’t seem overly thrilled but I assure you he had a good time. Our dog was with us too but good luck getting her to hold still!

After our walk we watched a movie, which was not particularly good. I would have reviewed it but I am fairly busy at work today. I can tell you it was Spectre, the James Bond flick. I know it is a couple years old, but I can tell you that IMDB.com has it at a 6.8 I would go lower than that. It was very disappointing in my eyes. The story was there but just about everything turned me off from it. Either way it was nice to stop doing everything and watch a movie. The rest of the day my wife edited some pictures, Everett played beside us in the attic, and I was able to get a few games in. Over all it was a good weekend.

Today I am jam packed with things to do. I have to collect a urine sample from our female dog, and get it tested again to make sure her UTI is gone. Then it is off to Everett’s nine month appointment. This is where he will get a ton of shots and be mad at us for a short time haha. By the way….Everett is nine months old, I failed to mention that last Thrusday! Woo!

That is all for me today, I hope you all had a great weekend, and I’ll see you back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Will You Be Following The Olympics?

Hey Everyone!

The winter Olympics are upon us! the coverage starts on the 8th (Tomorrow). The opening ceremony is on the 9th, those are always really cool to watch. These countries go all out.

There is some tension this year, like most years. This year may be a little more tense, with North Korea teaming up with their southern sister. This of course because of the looming Nuclear war, they may want to start. Also the Russians have been banned from this years winter Olympics, for doping the year before. Some Russian athletes are able to compete under a neutral flag, which is nice, since the actions of a few ruined it for the whole county. People spend their whole lives training to go to these games and compete for their country and now some of those people will not be able to do so. So yes some tensions will run a bit high this year, but I am hoping for the best. I want there to be nothing but good times at the games.

Here is a quick little schedule for the games.

Untitled

If that is too hard to see you can check the schedule here.

I am a big fan of the freestyle skiing and snowboarding, curling, and biathlons. I’ll try to watch those if time permits. I really don’t worry about skating or luges.

What are some our your favorites? Do you watch the winter Olympics at all? Let me know in the comments below! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Christmas #2, #3, #4!

Hey Everyone!

This is going to be somewhat of a picture post, since it was super busy this long weekend. I hope you had a great holiday weekend. Well We better get this started!

Sunday we celebrated Christmas #2 It was with my wife’s grandparents, her mother, and her sister. They made the trip even though there was supposed to be a big storm. Thank fully we didn’t get much of it. Side note, speaking of storms check out Erie, PA. I live about an hour and a half from there and they got record breaking amounts of snow this weekend. like over 50 inches in two days. Wow!

Everett is hanging out with his great grandma and her nice boot, in this first picture.

20171224_113355

Later we decided to get the party started and do some gift giving. We, of course, needed a picture of our baby in front of it all. A little drooly but still cute!

20171224_140134

Although he really doesn’t know what is going on, and only wants to eat everything he touches, it still looks like he was pretty excited. He knew this wasn’t a normal day.

20171224_140320(0)

Have you ever seen a 7 month old so excited to get a couple of DVDs?!?

20171224_140426

Opening gifts with his mom and grandma they decided it would be best for him to wear a ribbon until he could find a nice hat!

20171224_141259

Once he found a nice hat the ribbon was replaced and all was well within the baby world.

20171224_141441(0)

I’m not sure he knew how to conquer this next tower of gifts.

20171224_141708

The rest of the day was spent catching up with one another and having a nice meal. It was nice not to have to travel back for Christmas for once. His aunt got him this nice Teddy Bear and it was a challenge to get him to pose in anyway with it. It was his veryΒ  first Christmas morning, and Christmas #3 was held by just the three of us. πŸ˜€Β  He was trying to eat the tags and bow the whole time. haha.

20171225_084052

Later that day we prepared for Christmas #4 with my side of the family. Thankfully they only live one city block away. Before we left we tried to take a few family selfies, if anything they are memorable.

20171225_160144(0)

My two brothers, my parents, sister in-law, niece, and brother’s girlfriend were all at my parents house as well. Here is my dad feeding Everett his bottle.

20171225_184323

We again had a nice meal and were able to catch up with one another. We also had the Steelers game on since the rest of my family are Steelers fans. Makes sense right? I’m the odd one out. We loaded the car at the end of the night and headed home. We had our first Christmas experience as parents and I would say it was a huge success. We will have to do it again sometime πŸ˜‰

I forgot to mention the boy got a ball pit! At first he was pretty terrified and I almost passed out blowing it up, but he came around and so did I!

Lastly here is my baby boy hanging out in his crib yesterday as happy as could be!

signal-2017-12-26-124656

Again I hope you all had a great weekend, and were able to spend some time with your loved ones. If it is as bitter cold as is it here, bundle up and stay safe. If not, well…I’m jealous haha. Have a great day! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Nice Night To Go To The Dam!

Hey Everyone!

I was planning on going home after work and just cutting the grass. Sounds pretty boring right? My wife called me just before I left and asked what I was doing after work. She suggested that we go for a walk at the Kinzua Dam. I told her that I wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to do something with our family for cutting the grass haha.

Once I picked him up from daycare and got home, we got him ready to go!

20171010_164538

It is a little hard to get a picture of a baby that keeps moving, my apologizes haha.

We took off and made our way there. We went to a spot that wasn’t as much hiking, but rather a leisurely walk with some pre-made stairs and what not.

20171010_172318

Once you get closer to an overlook you can see the reservoir beyond the trees.

20171010_172432

Lastly you are greeted with this amazing view! This is a beautiful place anytime of the year. It is always worth a visit. We come here as often as we can, when we remember to actually do it lol.

20171010_172528

Of course with any small day trip you need a few family photos. It was very bright, as you will see. It was clear and sunny.

20171010_173347

We tried again back in the woods to get away from the direct sun light and we managed to get him to look and not cry haha. That is a win win if I’ve ever seen one.

20171010_174854

I love my little family and taking trips like this. They are the most important things in my life and I would be lost without them. The trip was great and was a much better way to spend the evening. πŸ˜€

Tonight I have a Masonic 3rd degree. It will take most of the evening and be late. It is the longest degree and the last degree to become a Master Mason. It will be fun, we are hoping a few of the NY guys come down to see it done our way.

This weekend it our Alumni homecoming and we will be going back for the festivities and to see friends. I’ll keep you posted! I hope you have enjoyed today’s post and I’ll see you all tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What A Fun Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was a blast. I mean nothing crazy happened, but it was an all around good time. It really started on Saturday. My wife left in the morning to get her hair done for the first time since having the baby. It was something she really wanted to get done, so I’m glad I was able to watch Everett while she did that.

Once she got home, I packed my stuff and headed to camp. Before I left I stopped at a place that over looks most of my whole city. I had a nice panorama, but it looked weird when I threw it on here.

20171007_105146

Once I got to camp I helped my brother and dad, who got there before me. We brought wood and supplies to the site. Here are the 4″ pieces that we used to cover the cracks of the other boards.

20171007_130105

When we were on the last board, we had to notch it. This was to ensure that it would fit around a stud. I was notching it out with a hand saw when it jumped up off the board and sliced my thumb. It was pretty bad but I got it wrapped up quickly.

20171007_135411

It is a bit hard to do most things with your thumb covered like this haha. I had a glove over it so I would not get dirt and stuff in it. Plus, I was staying the night so I was going to be there a long time.

Anyway, with that set back out of the way we were able to get the pieces up!

20171007_142054

Since we had more boards from the last time, we started work on one of the ends. It gets the most weather so we wanted to cover it up a bit. We are going to, possibly slat shingle the peaks, and cover the cracks with more 4′” boards like the front.

20171007_171443

A couple of my brother’s friends showed up as well as my older brother. They hung around most of the day. But after a while I was getting hungry for that juicy steak I told you all I would get. I threw it down on our grill over some hot coals and let it ride.

20171007_180928

While that was cooking up nicely, my brother’s friend Ben made me a drink. Stick with me as I explain what’s in it. He mixed bourbon and blueberry preserves in an empty water bottle. Once it was shaken together he poured it through a strainer and into my cup. Similarly, he mixed lemonade and club soda and poured that in too. To finish it off he squeezed a lemon in there and here is what we have!

20171007_181602

It was really dang good. I had a couple of those and enjoyed my steak.

20171007_183132

Once everyone left I hung out by the fire until it got dark. I threw a few more logs on because I wanted coals for breakfast.I decided to just roll my sleeping bag out in the cabin and stay there for the night. It looked creepy but it was better than a tent!

20171007_201634

With my head lamp on I started into my new book! I only got a few chapters in before I turned in for the night.

20171007_202237

I’m pretty glad I slept in the cabin because it rained pretty hard that night. Which did ruin my breakfast plans. I had no coals and with the clouds over head it stayed dark longer than I had hoped. When I woke up I packed my things and just headed home. You can see below what it was like on my way out.

20171008_071108

I stopped off to get pop tarts for breakfast and brought them home for my wife. It is a craving she has somewhat often so I figured it was a good choice. We ran around Sunday and got groceries, as well as cleaned up around the house. My mother in-law came down and wanted to spend some time with Everett. That gave me some time to play a few video games. I checked the mail later and was pleased to find two pieces of mail from real people haha. First a card from my great aunt Arlene. It was a “First Halloween” card fro our son.

20171008_132306

The second was a nice thank you from my brother and his wife.

20171008_132440

We closed out the weekend with some Netflix and ice cream. Sounds good huh?

That is all for me. It was a fun weekend and I’m glad I got some time in the woods! I’ll be back tomorrow, see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

So I Did A Thing!

Hey Everyone!

If you can remember, I had a long family reunion a month ago. Ever since then I have been thinking about something I learned from one of my cousins. That thing was sponsoring a child in need. I found out that my cousin, about my age, had been sponsoring a child for years. She had brought it up because she got exciting news that her child was graduating from the program that she had been supporting for all that time.I looked back at some of her older Facebook posts and found out that she had been going through a company called “World Vision” which seemed like a great option to start looking.

I went to their website and read through some of the stuff. I figured it was a decent one because the cousin I am referring to pays high attention to details and she would not let something shady go on. Although I have heard of organizations not allocating as much as they should to the children, this one wasn’t like that. So I took what I learned from that site and looked for more like it.

At this point I was really getting into the idea of doing this myself. Now I am not someone who has “extra” money laying around. This is something that had to be dear to me, and helping people has always been close to my heart. Since I switched gears in college and decided not to work with children I haven’t felt that sense of lending a “helping hand”, which is also my fraternity’s motto. I was going to be a special education teacher, that fell through. I was a camp counselor, at a camp for children with special needs for 5 years, that ended when I no longer had free time during the summers. I now work with computers only, and do nothing to help others. I mean sure I help my little family and try to get ahead, but nothing more. I lost a piece of myself when all of that ended and this may be what brings it back. Like I said I don’t have “extra” money. I mean hell I can’t even afford my own car at this moment. So justifying this was a little tough for me, but at $32 a month I think I can make it work without setting myself back at all on monetarily. That would never be enough for a car and insurance, and sure it could help towards that in the future. But in the future I will have what I need when I need it. Worse comes to worse, I would have to drop this all together if I was that strapped, but lets hope it doesn’t come to that.

Anyway, I found that most of these places were either super religious which is a no go for me, or that they were one of the organizations that didn’t quite do enough. I scoured the internet and found a place called Children International. They are not based in religion, which is a huge plus for me. They are focused on ending poverty and helping children, and that is what I wanted. I found their FAQ page and read though everything and all all seemed to line up. They are super transparent, going as far as posting their tax info on their public website. The contributions are all 100% tax deductible, which is another big perk. The money does not go to the child directly, but rather helps fund their community center, gives them medical, schooling, and a safe place. Each year they get gifts on their birthday and Christmas, and you can chose to donate more and specify what they should get.

So I was sold. there was way more to cover, but I was sold. I looked around and saw they chose ten of the poorest countries and set up their shops there. The worst area by far was Zambia, so that was where I wanted to help. They flagged kids who were the “most needy” which was determined by social workers, and based on their living arrangements and what not. So, again, that is where I wanted to help. They also had how long each kid was waiting to be sponsored, so I filtered my search to be in Zambia, most needy, and the kid waiting the longest. This is where I found my sponsor child! His name is Abel and he is 9 years old.

9

I hope to sponsor him until her graduates from the program. Their goal is to have these kids graduate healthy, educated, employed, and empowered to break the cycle of poverty. That is something I can back whole heatedly! I have sent him a letter, it may take weeks to get to him, but he should know he is sponsored soon. They are encouraged to communicate back as well. Heck you are even allowed to go visit if you were so inclined! Once you sponsor a child you get more access to their family information, and you can even request to see how they are doing in school.

I feel like this is the right thing to do and I feel great about my choice. Oh and I never said how long he was waiting…it was over 900 days! Yikes.

That is all for me. If you have any questions about this feel free to ask, I’ll try to have an answer for you! I’ll see you all again tomorrow. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
