Hey Everyone!

We are back after a long holiday weekend. I can’t say that I’m happy to come back to work but it is time to get going with everything.

Saturday we installed a couple of air conditioners for the second floor and attic. Later that evening my wife had a photo shoot. A girl that I went to college with and worked with for a while came down from about an hour and a half away to get her pictures taken. It was a couple field settings, in the late evening. They turned out great, from what I can tell! πŸ˜€ I was watching Everett while the whole thing was going on.

He was having a pretty good time in the weeds. The girl who came down had her son with her for the shoot, and the two of them got to interact a little bit which was nice.

Sunday we did indeed go to the cabin. My dad, brother, cousin, and brother’s friend came out for helping purposes. My wife, mother, and son came for the outdoors. Everett was only there with my wife for a little bit because it was calling for thunderstorms. It did rain for a bit but that was about it, so I was sad to see them go over that. Everett fell in the dirt a few times and didn’t really like that. Here he is with me in the cabin. πŸ˜€

My dad is seen here cutting another sheet of plywood for the ceiling. They were able to put up another four sheets.

My cousin and I took the four wheeler and went up and down the hill clearing the debris along the way.

We were able to get five or so trees cut and out of the way as well as maintain some other trails. We came back and hung out for about two hours around the campfire, it was a really nice day.

Monday was a bit rough for me personally because nothing was going my way. We went and got a gate for the attic to allow Everett to have a play room on the other side, and it is the worst gate I have ever seen. It didn’t help that the studs were impossible to find in the wall. I also bought expanding foam to fill the cracks in the other room to keep the bugs out. That is all well and good except the one main gap was way too big and now I need to cut all the foam to look good. It is hot up there and it was a huge pain in the ass. Some of it made its way onto the floor, which was about impossible to get off.Β  After that crap that took way too long, I gave up on the day. I played video games, ate bad food, and made no further progress haha. πŸ˜€ After that the rest of the night went OK after that.

That brings us to the lazy Tuesday. I don’t have much going on today and hope it stays that way. I really don’t feel like doing much. I did get a hold of a retired electrician to come look at my lights, I just have to find a date and time that works for us. If I can get the light in and the house looking back to normal I’ll be OK again.

That is it for me! I hope you have a great Labor Day weekend! I’ll see you again tomorrow!

Sick Boy, Website, & 401K!

Hey Everyone!

Update on the little man. He has, yest another, ear infection. We were told that this one was separate from the last one he just had. He is back on another form of antibiotic. He seems ok with it, at least he isn’t throwing it up instantly like the last one. They checked him for the flu again by jamming that pipe cleaner up his nose, he hates that. It came back negative so that is a plus. They also ran a blood test, just to make sure everything looked like it should, and it did. We have an appointment on the 29th for him to see the local ENT doctor. He most likely will get tubes now. It was a late night with him being at the doctors for two solid hours, but we are glad to have some answers. We kept him home yesterday, and he is home with his grandma again today. He still have a fever of around 100 degrees, so we want to see that go down.

In other news I am helping my wife get her photography media in order. She has been wanting to really make a go at this as a business, and hasn’t been able to get it all started alone. Her online presence is hit or miss, and not everything is on the same page, figuratively. I am working on making her a free website, for now, and going to seamlessly connect her Instagram and Facebook with it all.Β  It is tough but fun as a project. I’m not in webdesign, but with website builders, once you get the hang of it you can do some cool things. We don’t have the money to buy another domain yet, but when we do we will upgrade that. It will really depend on what we want to host on the site vs. what we want to just link out.Β  I’ll share it with you all when it is done, whenever that will be haha.

I have a 401K review meeting today at 2:40pm. They come every year to evaluate and let us ask questions about retirement, and yes I’m far from it haha. I have a pretty good thing going with it and just want to make sure I’m still in a good spot. I may ask them about what would happen if I were to leave the company, since that might actually happen. I want to know if I can still use the one I have or if I would have to roll it over. I know my current company won’t put into it but I want to see if I have to keep it stand alone or not.

Right after this I’ll call my loan providers again. I went to do it yesterday and the nor’easter, had their office shutdown! My luck right? haha. I’ll try again until I get them.

That is all for me today. I’ll see you all again tomorrow for “Coffee Talk” πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Moving Forward!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend we went back, yet again to my wife’s grandparent’s house. She had a photo shoot late in the day, so we came up and made a day of it. I made a cost breakdown sheet of the floor plans we were looking at and contacted the sales rep to verify pricing, and time frames. This information was presented to her grandfather, so that we could all be on the same page as to what we were looking for and how much we were willing to potentially spend, or buy.

We are a little uneasy with what comes next. He wants to see if we would be able to get approved for the amount needed on our own, which is what we wanted to avoid if at all possible. Only because we don’t want some unforeseen, bad thing to happen and leave us with two mortgage payments.Β  We would not be able to pay both. The idea is that he is going to deed us the land, gift us $25,000, and he will pay the mortgage if there is any over lap between selling our house and that one being complete. This is all great in theory, I just hope it plays out that way. I’m not a fan of uncertainty, at least not on this scale. We have worked hard to have what we do, and if we were to get stuck with two payments for whatever reason that would ruin us for a while.

On the other hand, if we are unable to get the loan even with all the help he would then resort to putting it down himself and letting us buy it from him. We still would rather this method, but if he wants us to try the other way first we really can’t argue. So it seems like things are moving in the direction that we want them to. I’m not sure of any time frames, but we were told not to wait if we wanted it all to be complete by next winter.

So it begins.

Like I said before, my wife met with her client around sundown for better lighting, and she took some nice engagement photos. We came home right after that and relaxed the rest of the evening.

Sunday was a day of house chores, mainly laundry. I sat down, while folding laundry and watched the Netflix series “Everything Sucks” It was really good! I went in to it not knowing what to expect. I thought that I would turn it off after one episode, instead I watched the whole season haha. There are no super famous actors, which I love, and it tackles some tough issues, that highschoolers are facing today. If you have a chance I would recommend watching it.

Today is the first day back at work since the time change….and it sucks. I’m sure I’ll get used to it soon, but blah for now.

I hope you all had a great weekend, and I’ll see you tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Photography Contest!

Hey Everyone!

First let me start out by saying that things seem to be ironed out with our baby sitter. She did not pic up when I called last night, but she did call me right back. I’m not sure if we believe her or not about not getting the other messages but the fact she called and spoke with me helped tremendously. I cleared the air about the tax thing and talked to her for a good 40 minutes.

Everett is still sick and has a small fever today so we may be keeping him home again tomorrow. He is still super active and having fun at home. My wife sent me this picture of him today.

At face value it doesn’t look like much, but if you look a bit longer you can see that he is standing on his own. He pulled himself up that jumper and is holding on alone. That is awesome or scary depending on how you take it haha. I think it is awesome!

Speaking about my wife, she entered some photography thing created by Shoot & Share. I think she just did it for fun without any real thoughts or feelings about making it very far. That being said she received a message today saying that they are down to the last 10.3% of photos entered in 25 categories. To scale this they started with 412,379 entries. With 10.3% left that means that there are only 42,543 entries left.Β  The contest has had 57 million votes and they this is the last week to vote. That is pretty exciting! There are prizes for the top 3 entries in each of the 25 categories. I think it is cool that she has made it this far in a public contest. Her pictures are great and I hope one day that we can get into a situation where she can do this for a living. Right now we just have too many things to pay for and not enough money to do it haha.Β  Even if she can get a better job with set hours and have some side time to pursue her photography career. We will have to wait and see. πŸ˜€

Oh if you were interested in looking at the contest and voting you can go to contest.shootandshare.com

I didn’t realize how big of a contest this really was haha.

If you want to check out some of my wife’s work you can checkΒ  her photography Instagram: Here!

Or her Facebook page: Here!

I guess this is a “Pimp My Wife” post haha I’m ok with it. πŸ˜€

That is all for me today! I hope you all have a great Tuesday, and I’ll do the same! C-ya tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Happy New Year! Baby Photo Shoot!

Hey Everyone!

I hope you had a happy and safe New Years Eve. With any luck we can carry it on through the year.

I don’t tend to make a big deal out of starting another calendar year, since nothing really changed and none of it really makes a difference, but it is nice to get together with family to ring it in. We went to my brother’s house and played a few games and almost made it to midnight. Our boy woke up, in not a great mood, about 20 minutes before. We packed our stuff and went home. Once we were home we turned on the TV and to our surprise we didn’t miss the ball drop. Just barely. We watched the countdown, kissed, and went to bed haha.

What did you do for New Years Eve?

My post is late, yes I know. Our ISP had some outages today and that killed our network. So for the last couple of hours our connection has been erratic. I wan’t sure I could post, but know I can. For that here is the mini photo shoot my wife had with Everett to close out the post, and start the year off right. (She is talented)

I hope that puts a smile on your faces. I’ll see you tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Welp, That Happened Again!

Hey Everyone,

I won’t make you guess, I got another sinus infection! I can’t believe it. I really think it is from taking our son to daycare, that is the only thing that has changed in our lives in the past few months. I get sick once or twice every five years, not twice in two months! What the hell? I’m hoping this doesn’t become a regular thing, not only do I have limited time off, it straight up sucks!

That all being said I missedΒ  Monday’s weekend round up , so I ‘ll muddle through it today. I am still feeling like crap and covering for a co-worker so its an early day for me today and tomorrow. Go figure I get sick when the most amount of responsibility is on my shoulders.Β  Well lets start on Friday night. We went to bed and that was the most exciting thing, until about 2 am Saturday morning, you know the day we are taking wedding pictures. I woke up not able to breathe through my nose and with a terrible sore throat, as well as a nice pounding headache. I made sure to try and finish getting some rest, but that didn’t go too well. We finally got the family up and had to get our son ready to go to his grandparents house all day and into the evening. We also had to finish pack up up our photography equipment and get our itineraries straight. To keep it short we were gone on assignment from 10 am until 7 pm. That is a nine hour work day, on a weekend, while sick, no thank you.

I traveled with the groom and his party, while they golfed, and got ready. While I had some time I took a few drone fly overs. I’ll like just this one, but the quality is crappy because it came off of my phone compressed. It will be in HD when we get it ready for them.

There will later be music added with a couple other videos and picture from the weeding added in a nice video/slide show for the bride and groom. I tried to make it all night, and I did succeed, but I felt like death and my whole body hurt.

I spent the whole day Sunday on the couch, being about good for nothing. My amazing wife did everything she could for all of us. I’m not a very easy person to be around when I feel like that. She deals with me pretty well. πŸ˜€ I must have done something right though because I started feeling a bit better late in the day, but still not well enough to do anything. I made the decision to not go into work, not knowing if I was contagious. I, instead went to the clinic Monday morning, and got on an antibiotic. I also had a meeting with the plumber to tell me that to fix our main water line that is broken, that it will cost about $2100 that I don’t have. So that is fun.

That brings me to today. I came in early to cover a co-worker. I made sure to go to bed early and get some sleep. everything has been going OK thus far, but I’m still achy and not in any mood for crap haha. I will get out about an hour before the others so that is nice. I have my antibiotic for ten days then I should be well in the clear. I really hope I don’t get this crap again. I hate being sick.

As for the plumbing, I think it is one of those things we just have to do, and we are going to have to bite the bullet and go for it. We should still have enough come tax season to waterproof the basement so that should still be a go.

That is all for me today, I may or may not be able to post tomorrow, we will see. I hope you had a much better weekend than I did. and I’ll see ya! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Company & Birthday Surprise

Hey Everyone!

My co-worker is finally back from his trip to Europe, and things may be getting back to normal, as soon as next week!

Yesterday we had a ‘Cost of Living’ meeting. In this meeting we go over what we project the rates to be for the year and they decide whether or not we get an increase to meet those standards. Well we found out that we will all be getting a 1.75% increase to keep up with the predicted trend! That’s a pretty decent increase. That will be more than a few hundred dollars added to our pay yearly.

We also officially welcomed our newly acquired company, J Tech! They were here with some of their highway safety trucks and what not. We also got some sweet shirts and hats for taking them on!

Here is their, pretty cool brand video!

When I got home I noticed that the last piece of my wife’s birthday present had arrived. Instead of make her wait until her birthday, which is when I will be at my reunion, I let her open those gifts last night. πŸ˜€ (Don’t mind our non renovated basement)

I bought her a back drop stand, clamps for the back drops, 5 different backdrops, two lights, and a reflector. When we do start work on our basement, this room will be white and outfitted for photography. My wife will be able to ave a small home studio in there.

Since she goes back to work Monday I wanted her to be able to have this before then as well. I would say she liked it because these are the photos I was sent earlier today. πŸ˜€

So it looks like he will be her test subject and her little “Potter Head” for a while.

Here at work I am busy setting up PC’s, ordering stock for the coming months, and catching up with my co-worker on all things, work related and trip related.

I hope you have enjoyed your stay with me today and I’ll see you tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What A Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

I hope you all have enjoyed your weekend, I know I did.

Friday after work the family and I went back to our college town for the night. Before we checked into our hotel we had to stop at the Sunset Grill for some great food, by the lake.

I got a dish called “Nick’s Pick”. It is Angus beef with sauteed mushrooms, onions, Swiss cheese, and a special sauce.Β  As you can tell it came on a marble rye toast. It was perfect, just what my stomach wanted!

From there we checked into our hotel and headed back into town. We parked the car by the small pond on campus and took a stroll around our old campus. Here we are at the main sign enjoying the day.

The rest of the night was filled relaxing in the hotel room. We had to be up early the next morning. My wife had to drive about a half hour and be on location for a photo shoot with my aunt’s family by 9am. I on the other hand had a meeting to prepare for at 10am.

I was just about to take my time and hang out in the room for a bit before my meeting, when my wife called me. She was out there taking pictures and she left her fully charged battery on the charger in the hotel room! This was probably because I was helping her get ready and what not and didn’t know what I was to be looking for. I had to run that battery out to her, quickly, and then get back to town for my meeting.

I made it back in time and got there as the campus police were opening the doors to the Alumni House, where our meeting was being held. Once inside we gathered as alumni and started the meeting. I did have to step down as Secretary this year, which is bitter sweet, but it had to be done. With the President ad Vice President absent I was in charge of running the meeting. That was new! As you can see we had a small turn out, partly because our active chapter is no more. We had brothers there as far back as the 70’s which is always nice to see.

Here are just a few shots of the cool things on display at our meeting location.

After the meeting was adjourned I snapped a picture of some of the guys looking through the old college yearbooks. They always have great stories about there time in school.

After the meeting the guys and I got lunch at a local bar, with the best burgers in town! the Empty Keg. Soon after I met up with my wife and we headed home. We quickly realized that our busy day had kept us from noticing that our baby boy was 2 months old Saturday!

That was him being drained from getting carted around all weekend haha.

Sunday morning was relaxing as well, since softball has come to a close. I missed the tournament, and I’m kind of glad I did. There is a family on our team, who had a falling out, to put it nicely. They had to quit the second game, while winning, to end our season. Embarrassing really. We did some house work and watched Netflix all day. Everett was all smiles!

Just a quick update, we finally got an AC unit in the attic and my wife sent me this picture as I was writing this, so why not share it out!

I have been swamped again at work, with my co-worker out for the week, but I’m hanging in there! He will be back I think Friday. That’s all I have, and again I hope you all had a great weekend! I’ll see you back here again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ ;D

The Weekend Has Come!

Hey Everyone!

Like I said yesterday to day and Monday’s blog posts will be shorter, since I am covering for a co-worker. As of right now I am out of work for the weekend in one hour. Today has been a lazy, yet normal day. The air outside is crisp and the sun is out. If it wasn’t for the fact that I don’t have a window and that there is road construction, it would be a great day haha.

After I get out of work I have to get home to pack and get ready to leave. We are going back to my wife’s hometown. We are having a big dinner tonight with her family, and Saturday she is taking maternity pictures of my sister in law. She is due in early November so she has quite the bump going on. We are only going to be back there for only one night, so it shouldn’t take me very long to get ready to go. I did tell my wife I would help her scan some documents before we go so I will be able to get that done too.

If I remember correctly I told you about possibly helping my co-worker with his churches IT support. Well, he received an e-mail about coming to map out what they have this weekend too. So the only time that would work for both of us is going to be Saturday after I get back. We are going to go over there and get a sense of what they have and what they don’t have. We will determine what they need and see what type of support they need. They are willing to pay for support but don’t really have enough to hire a company so it is an interesting situation. I would love the experience and really want to help them out. That is the fun stuff about my line of work. I can walk into a place and with the proper clearance determine all kinds of things and basically be a contracted consultant.

Sunday I hope to be watching some football games and later playing basketball with my work mates. We play 6-8pm at a local church. We usually get about eight people to show up. It is a good way for us to stay active in the winter months.

That is about all I have for you wonderful people. I thank you for stopping by, and I’ll see you all again Monday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

p.s. With a bit of good timing I may have a surprise announcement later. πŸ˜‰

Wedding Photography & Home Search

Happy Monday Everyone!!

I’m glad you all made it back. I had a very busy weekend like I knew I would. It went fast but it was fun at the same time. Friday night my wife came home from her week long training and we just went right to bed. We knew we had a long 10+ hour day on Saturday. We woke up early and made sure that we had everything that we needed for the wedding. It was overcast all day which believe it or not helps when taking pictures. You don’t have to play the sun and just have a good amount of natural light all over. I dropped my wife off at a house where the girls were getting ready and then hurried back to the reception hall. about an hour later the guys came filing in. My one best friend was in the wedding and had his two little twin boys with him, they were the ring bearers. I was in charge of shooting them while they got ready.

Once that was done I followed the guys to the ceremony spot. It was in a nice park with a small stone building. We had some time to kill before the girls arrived in their party bus. I was able to pose the guys in a few ways that the bride requested. Turns out the bus showed up super late for the girls and they were about a half hour late to the park. People were there and ready for a wedding, so when the girls got there it started instantly. Like I said, the venue was small but cozy and nice. It was a quick ceremony, so no one had time to get bored haha. Most of the people left and headed to the reception hall. We stayed behind with the bridal party, and families for more pictures. We ran through the list of photos that the bride wanted. The coolest part was for the last real picture they arranged themselves in a heart and let me take the drone up. I got a few good shots to make sure I had a usable photo. Again my favorite little twin ring bearers were obsessed with the drone so I flew it real low beside them and took a few photos of them. The flower girl got in on that action too.

We all left and went back to the reception hall, and fairly soon after they introduced the bridal party. Then the normal wedding festivities began. They did the dances and the cake cutting, eating, and following that they did the garter and bouquet toss. The rest of the time were were there they did a dollar dance, which is when you come up and pay a dollar and dance with the bride or groom for about 30 seconds. All the money goes to them for things that they will need as newlyweds. We got out of there at 9pm and we were beat. It is hard work being on your feet all day and holding a heavy camera. It hurts your back and knees more than you think it would. We got home and plopped into bed and that was that.

As for our home buying situation, we were supposed to draft a contract for one house today. We are doing a walk though of it at 6pm today, but we are pretty sure we don’t want it anymore. We found out that we really wouldn’t own the driveway and its next to a parking lot. We would have people blocking the garage all the time. It is really big, probably too big. It would work but we realized that if we only want to buy one house we want it to be what we want. So in light of that realization, we upped our price point to look at some houses that are at the top of our realistic budget. WeΒ  found one that has been on the market for four days, and its perfect. It has most everything that we wanted and needed. The yard is great, it has sheds, a garage, 3 bed , a finished basement, and in a really nice neighborhood. I want to jump on it before we are kicking ourselves when someone else buys it. The price is on the high end for us, but if it is a house that we want to live in for 30-40 years it would be worth paying for. We would have to manage our money well and I think we can do that. Anyway we are also looking at that house tonight and I would love to put in an offer for it instead.

That is all I have today guys I hope you have a great week! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
