Photography Contest!

Hey Everyone!

First let me start out by saying that things seem to be ironed out with our baby sitter. She did not pic up when I called last night, but she did call me right back. I’m not sure if we believe her or not about not getting the other messages but the fact she called and spoke with me helped tremendously. I cleared the air about the tax thing and talked to her for a good 40 minutes.

Everett is still sick and has a small fever today so we may be keeping him home again tomorrow. He is still super active and having fun at home. My wife sent me this picture of him today.

At face value it doesn’t look like much, but if you look a bit longer you can see that he is standing on his own. He pulled himself up that jumper and is holding on alone. That is awesome or scary depending on how you take it haha. I think it is awesome!

Speaking about my wife, she entered some photography thing created by Shoot & Share. I think she just did it for fun without any real thoughts or feelings about making it very far. That being said she received a message today saying that they are down to the last 10.3% of photos entered in 25 categories. To scale this they started with 412,379 entries. With 10.3% left that means that there are only 42,543 entries left.Β  The contest has had 57 million votes and they this is the last week to vote. That is pretty exciting! There are prizes for the top 3 entries in each of the 25 categories. I think it is cool that she has made it this far in a public contest. Her pictures are great and I hope one day that we can get into a situation where she can do this for a living. Right now we just have too many things to pay for and not enough money to do it haha.Β  Even if she can get a better job with set hours and have some side time to pursue her photography career. We will have to wait and see. πŸ˜€

Oh if you were interested in looking at the contest and voting you can go to

I didn’t realize how big of a contest this really was haha.

If you want to check out some of my wife’s work you can checkΒ  her photography Instagram: Here!

Or her Facebook page: Here!

I guess this is a “Pimp My Wife” post haha I’m ok with it. πŸ˜€

That is all for me today! I hope you all have a great Tuesday, and I’ll do the same! C-ya tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Wedding & Productive Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

I would like to start off by saying sorry for missing Friday’s post. Whoopsies! In all seriousness I didn’t for get I was tasked with a really difficult project. It has all been sorted out as of this morning but it was something I was not very familiar with, so it took a while. It was a macro enabled Excel sheet that got all jacked up from the latest Office update. I has to go through the VBA code with the guy who wrote it and figure out what we could do. It really did take all day haha.

Secondly I want to send a shout out to Riley, from Riley’s Backpack! A while back you might remember him and his friends wanted to raise enough money on their Go Fund Me page to renew their domain and keep it ad free. I helped them out with what I could, and in return He send me a hand written letter. I wanted to say thank you and let you know you did indeed get my name correct haha πŸ˜€

Saturday the little family and I went to a wedding! It was not just any wedding, it was her father’s wedding to his long time girlfriend. They now have a baby boy well over one year old and finally got hitched. You can see all three of them below.

I know it isn’t the best picture but our little buddy kept getting fussy and we did end up leaving sooner than we intended to. It was a quaint little wedding in a nice Catholic church. The reception was on the lake in a really nice dining hall. The trip was a bit lengthy and I wasn’t super fond of that but it was all worth it.

Before we went to the wedding we stopped for lunch at my wife’s grandparent’s house. He had pumpkins waiting for him and wanted pictures with him up on his tractor. So that is what went down. Here is a shot of Everett Hugh and his great grandfather Francis Hugh!

Once we got home that evening we hit the hay.

Sunday started out pretty lazy, as intended, but wound up being quite productive. We didn’t quite have a frost but it was damn close. We had some morning coffee from our new coffee bar, and watched Netflix in our pajamas. We did have quite a bit to do and honestly got most of it done. We had your standard weekend cleaning, on top of laundry since we were gone the whole day before. I took out all the trash, hung Halloween lights, and mowed the grass. Later in the day I had a lady come look at the pellet stove I am selling, and I hope to hear back from her soon. My parents came over and brought Chinese for dinner. That was a great way to round out the weekend.

On a, probably over protective note, our boy has what looks like a small red-ish rash looking spot on his chin. Since we were around a bunch of people recently we don’t want him to have anything wrong with him. You hear all of the horror stories about babies getting bad viruses and we really hope it is nothing. I think I’ll call the doctor after lunch.

Again I apologies for missing Friday but I’ll be back again tomorrow. I’ll see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Saturday Work Bee

Back Again!

After we left the Potter Fest we headed to the work bee!

My work for the after noon was to refinish these three chairs. I gave them a fresh coat of blue!

Here we have our solar lights getting a good charge, and the tent up for dining. We serve the food out of the garage all week.

Here is a sneak peak of everything in that big back yard!

We have my cousin repainting some chairs for the 11 children under 6 years old, coming this year!

My dad was tasked with pressure wash all the old tables and chairs.

My mother was cleaning some of the many toys and play things. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Here is a shot of just how big the yard is. We will all camp out around the perimeter.

Sunday we stayed home all day and hung out with our baby. My wife had to go back to work today so she wanted to just stay home and snuggle him, and that’s what she did! I woke up and eventually made a good hearty breakfast! I made us some scrambled eggs with pepper and onion, as well as bacon, bagels and homemade hash browns.

Lastly here is my boy on his first day going to his daycare! It has been a big day full of emotion.I dropped him off this morning and will see how it all went after work! πŸ˜€

Thanks for sticking around! I’ll be back tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Baby, Mobile Apps, & Opportunity!

Hey Everyone!

Another buys day for me. So that means another short post.

Our baby has his one month appointment today, meaning he is due for some shots! I bet he willlllll hate it. He didn’t think anything of them when we were in the hospital but that was then and this is now haha. We are still working on getting him on a decent sleep schedule, so that when my wife goes back to work we can get a little rest. We are going to meet with a potential baby sitter on the 5th of July, it is exciting because she has received a lot of praise from the people we have talked too, but they all say shes always booked. Well she has an opening and we are going to see whats up. Oh and here is his little one month old picture!

He is growing everyday and working on that neck strength haha.

In other news, since I haven’t had much time to play my normal video games I have resorted to mobile gaming. It is nothing like PC gaming in any way and the games are crap. I have found that ‘Golf Clash’ if fun for golf. It is simple and cartoony, you also play one hole at a time not a set of 9 or 18. Here is a YouTube video I made, quickly:

The other game I have been playing is ‘CSR Racing’ it is a simple construct but with amazing graphics.

You basically go up in the street racing ranks and modify you car and garage along the way. The controls are simple and the game is fun, to pass the time. You can join a crew and work together to get better perks, you can also race each other which isΒ  cool feature. You can do as much or as little as possible it is your choice. Both of these games, like most mobile games are pay to win kind of things, which is annoying but I get it.

It is Friday and I don’t really have any special plans for the weekend. Tonight after work and the baby appointment, I have to move our old mattress out of the house and replace it with the new one that came in the mail today. After that I don’t have any hard plans until softball sometime Sunday. I can take a little break and have a somewhat free weekend, that is alright by me.

A friend of mine on Facebook started working for MCA, basically posting ads about MCA products on social media. I am always skeptical about these offers and about how they all work, but she seems to be making real money. She was on maternity leave and never left once she started working for these guys. Since my wife is off I figured she might be interested too, who knows? Well she is curious, so I reached out to the girl and had her send information to my wife. Even if she does it part time on the side of her full time job, and extra money helps. I always just get worried about how the taxes get done on stuff like that. Is it taxed before it is deposited? After? or at the end of the year? I’m pretty sure you would have to make sure you have a 1099 form to write it all up if it is secondary income, but I hate that stuff and don’t know anything about it. It all seems too good to be true but if it is legit, she could make some real good money. Heck she could maybe quit her job and still make double her salary!

That’s all for me today, I hope you have a great weekend and I’ll see you back on Monday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Projects, Picnic, Softball, Blood Drive!

Hey Everyone!

I had a super busy weekend, but a successful one! There were a few minor set backs that were weather related so I had to find the best way to still get everything I wanted done. Over the course of the weekend I was able to fully redo the paint and carpeting on my porch and stairs. I have a few really neat side by side pictures below:

First is the bare wood floor after I ripped up the old stuff and after I put down the new!

Next we have the terrible cemented stairs before and after painting. I know they suck but I hate cement and I was sick of it haha.

Lastly we have the carpet down the stairs covering up the blemishes and protecting the stairs from future weather.

I may go back through and paint over the areas where the glue is showing, but I’m not sure yet. It will probably chip off easy enough once it is super dry .

Saturday was our company picnic. We stopped off at a local drive in diner, and ate with my wife’s grandma and mother. They have great milkshakes and well, everything.

From there it was off to the amusement park. We brought the baby, so some of the people I work with could see him for the first time. We also wanted to see how he would handle traveling a bit farther than normal. If you were wondering it went smoothly! Here are just a few shots of the park:

Of course, we had to hit up my favorite ride. The train! I don’t ride rides so the train gives me all the excitement I need haha.

Sunday was of course Father’s Day. This year I am a father, which feels super weird. My wife got me this awesome key chain. It is a really neat idea.

I actually woke up Sunday and finished the carpeting on the stairs first, then went and played softball. Our games sucked. We played like crap in the field and had too many errors. We lost the first game very convincingly. The second game was against arguably the best team in the league and we should have beat them but we gave it away. That game ended with a score of 32 to 31 in the bottom of the 7th. :/

After ball my brother and I got cleaned up and headed to my parents house to celebrate the day further. We had burgers and hot dogs on the grill. The two cousins were there together so we had a few pictures.

It was a great weekend overall. We had some heavy storms Sunday and rain on Friday but it was all good in the end!

Today At work we have a blood drive. I totally forgot all about, thats why this post is a bit late. I signed up to give double reds. I was surprised when the girl hooking me all up was a girl I went to high school with! I haven’t seen her in a full 10 years, so it was nice catching up with her while I was over there.

That’s all from me folks! I hope you had decent weather and were able to enjoy the weekend to the fullest extent. I may or may not be on here tomorrow. I come in to cover someone elses shift and have to be here at 6am blah! We will see. Have a good one! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Well That Could Have Been Better!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend wanted to be great but had some setbacks! As you will see below, things got a bit messy.

Friday was a night of gaming and Netflix. I was going to work on the cabin Saturday, even though the weather was crappy. Sunday we were planning to tour the hospital in Erie, PA. Most of that went as planned. Most.

Friday, was going well I was just telling my friend over Team Speak ( a voice chat software) how well things were looking and how quickly things were coming together with the house. Soon after I was going to let the dog out and give her a treat, when I walked down stairs and found this mess:

You can see the floor should be red. The small marks are from the cat haha, and mine are the bigger ones. There was about 2-5 inches of water through out my whole entire basement.

Everything was floating around like those baskets, and the cat liter box in the back.

And finally The back door gets opened and a huge drain pipe is backed up. I think this was the cause of most of it.Β  I don’t have ‘after’ cleanup pictures because, well I was beat. I spent all day Saturday, not building a cabin, but mopping up the remaining water. I cranked the heat and closed the upstairs vents. It was super hot but necessary. I mopped and mopped and mopped. Once it was all dry you could see what dirt was still left on the ground. I still need to re-mop everything or Swiffer it to finish it all off. After that whole day being rough I went and bought a six pack and had a few haha. It was a late night and I didn’t get much sleep.

Sunday I got up early for some unknown reason. I made breakfast for my wife and served it to her in bed. I also found a recipe online for a Tim Horton’s Iced Cappuccino and made it for her. We did get out to Erie and we went early to make it worth our while. We walked around the mall and stopped in the maternity store to get a few things. Next we hit up the local Barnes and Noble, to pass the time. When we were through there and getting hungry we stopped at a Hibachi restaurant, for an early dinner. Then it was off to the hospital , for the tour. We arrived about a half hour early and waited for the other couples to arrive. The tour did take a full hour like they said it would. In short it was amazing! The facility is perfect, maybe beyond that. They have five floors devoted to just maternity.Β  We are going to try our hardest to get out there to deliver the baby, when the time comes. By the time we got home it was time for bed, so we cleaned up and went to bed. My wife went back to work for the time being this week and wasn’t pleased to wake up to her alarm after having the week off haha.

That’s all for this post! I hope you had a somewhat better weekend than mine lol.

I’ll see you all again tomorrow! Speaking of that, when the baby is born I won’t be posting for like a week, since I won’t be at work. If I’m feeling up to it I may post some updates but who knows.Β  πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

How Busy Can One Man Be? (Pictures)

Hey Everyone!

Back again on a dreary, Monday. It is colder than it was all weekend and still rainy. That being said there were a lot of things being done this weekend. I’ll quickly go through them, since I have a few more pictures than I normally do.

First up I got what I could out of my frozen cider! It was a little more than 2 liters. This is what I expected from 2 gallons of cider. I wish it was a bit clearer, but its not bad. I had some and it is definitely alcoholic haha.

Saturday we were up nice and early and going to get some work done on the cabin. We put the rest of the roof up and they did a few more floor boards without me and a wall frame.

(Below) You have my little brother, trying his best to attache the roof, without sliding off of it. You can wee how wet it is.

(Below) My dad and older brother are probably in a discussion about that piece on the right going up a certain way. It was nice that my older brother could come up. he works second shift and his sleep is all messed up.

Later after I left I went home and took my wife to Olive Garden for dinner, then strolled the mall.

On our way back, we passed a dinner that I always want to make time for and never do. I asked her if she would want to go the next morning (Sunday) for breakfast, and she said yes. We got up and got there about 8:30-9:00am. It is a small place but with great food.

You can see the walls were decked out with old pop cans and signs.

The tables are are covered with a glass sheet, but have cards, records and ads from old magazines under it.

Here is just a shot of how small it really is. That is the kitchen there in the middle.

They also had some memorabilia, that boarded on the creepy haha. It was displayed liek this in a few spots. with old toys and dolls.

Here is the store front, and you could guess that it sits right on Rt. 62! Go figure.

To put it in perspective, here is what is directly across the street.

It was a good decision to stop there for breakfast. Later that day my wife’s grandparents made the trip and came over to see us. We went and looked at teh local dam, which is a huge tourist attraction. Later we headed to Applebees for a less than satisfying lunch.

After they left, I followed a thought I had had for a while and bought two Roku Express thingys, for my TVs.

They were super easy to set up and after restarting my router I connected just fine. Everything is fast and responsive. We now have three network enabled TVs in our home. My office is becoming complete haha. I also have a futon mattress being delivered Thursday! I’m very excited.

I hope you all had a great weekend, and hopefully better weather! I’ll see you all again tomorrow. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Thank You & Apple Jack Progress

Hey Everyone!

I want to thank you for the support and feed back about the new layout. Now that I have a bit more time to elaborate on it, I will! πŸ˜€ I came to the realization that there are a lot of people in this community that browse via tablet or mobile phone. I looked at my previous layout and saw that it had too many layers. It wouldn’t draw people in and to get to my posts it would take a few “clicks.” I wanted to change all of that. I know I work in IT and all but changing my layout scared me and I didn’t want to jack it all up haha. Once I figured out what I wanted I went after it. I think it turned out quite well. I want to work on a few things from here on out. I want to make sure that I have featured images so the “Recent Posts” page looks a bit flashier. This is mostly because the scheme is a bit dull, by design. I also want to work on titles, not sure how much that will happen. Lastly I want to start including content that isn’t just about my daily life. I won’t stop the daily life part but rather add this part to it. I just want to engage people with current events or topics that are close to me. That being said it won’t happen in this post haha.

On to our regular content!

Yesterday I did indeed get my to go baby bag packed. It took me a month to do it but it is done. It makes everything so much more real. I also started the process of freeze distillation with my Apple Jack! the time has come. Tonight I will see the finished product. I’ll be tight for time tonight but I’ll get what I can.

Here I have a shot of the transfer from the glass carboy to the jug that it got frozen in.

Using this method you have to make sure that gravity is working for you! To create the pressure all you have to do is blow through a straw at the top and it all comes out.Just like if you have ever blew into a Capri sun and let the science do the rest haha.

After it is transferred you have this gross mixture left over. It is all of the dead and discarded items left over from fermentation. This is part of the reason you wait so long, all of this stuff has to settle on the bottom before you should do anything. Check the next two pictures.

Its thick and soupy all at the same time and smells of mostly yeast. It generally comes right out with a rinse, but you definitely don’t want this in your drink!

What was transferred out at this point, before distillation, is just hard cider. I went a head and tried some. I also had to rep my college fraternity in the process! πŸ˜€

You can see that it is still a bit cloudy. I was hoping that it would have been clearer at this point, but I know it will be better once I distill it. I currently have the four jugs freezing at my parents house. I will grab them after work and bring them home. The process from there is to tip them upside down and capture the liquid. It will be strictly alcohol since it freezes at a much lower temperature than anything based in water. Once it melts a bit it will be time to stop the collection process. I will be left with a much smaller amount than the original 2 gallons, but should get a yield of about 2-3 quarts of 30-50 proof Apple Jack.

Part of my, getting things done mood, was getting the ever growing collection of water jugs refilled at the local spring. I had to fill about 10 jugs. I know have, I think, 33 gallons of water as well as a very delicious bottle of homemade wine in my basement. This is all just for natural disasters or outages of any kind. Better to be safe than sorry. It is said that each adult needs one gallon of water per day just for consumption. Every child needs one half gallon, as well as pets. So with an incoming baby and two pets we have enough for like a week or two. I want to grow it a little more and get some food down there too. I really want to finish that section of the basement but who knows!

That is where I will leave you beautiful people today! I hope to bring you some good topics and discussion in later posts. Again thank you for the feedback! I’ll see you Monday, have a great weekend! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Spaghetti Pie & To-DO List!

Hey Everyone!

Yesterday, my wife was still not feeling well. I also saw a recipe on Facebook and decided that I’d make dinner and try it out. It was a spaghetti pie, I guess? Real quick I’ll run through what I used/did.

  • Beat 3 eggs into a bowl
  • Add 2 cups of red sauce
  • Add 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • Add 2 TBSP of Oregano
  • Add cooked onions (optional)
  • Add 1 tsp of salt
  • Mix it all together
  • Stir in browned, 90% lean beef
  • Add strained noodles
  • Pour into a cake pan
  • Sprinkle Mozzarella cheese on top
  • Bake for 30 minutes at 375 degrees

After all of that I didn’t take a picture until most of it was gone haha here ya go!

Ahh it was so good! Super easy to make and delicious. Of course there are variations of this everywhere, doing things slightly different. The only unhealthy thing is the cheese used since it has a high fat content.

Speaking of food, we just had yet another retirement lunch here at work. It was pulled pork with a five bean salad, pasta salad, fruits, and veggies. They have cake too! I only enjoyed the healthy stuff to stay on track with my diet but it all looked so good.Β  I think after this lunch there will be two more in the coming weeks.

Not this weekend, but the following one we have our opening softball tournament. It is hard to believe that the season is already starting. My weekends are all shot until about June and I have soo much stuff to do. I have a few things that I wanted to finish up with the babies room, most of which is just cleaning up the room a bit and getting everything out that doesn’t belong. That being said I want to clear the other bedroom out too and do the trim. To add to the list of things to do would be to paint the fence, fix the stairs more, re-install outdoor carpeting down the stairs, and fix my leaky pipe. Since I mentioned the pipe it is only fair to let you know that I bought this tape called ER Tape. That should do the trick. If it does half as well as this video describes I’m in business haha.

WE are getting excited to welcome our baby into this world, and with each day getting a little bit nervous haha.

That is where I’ll leave you for the day. I hope you are enjoying your hump day, and I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Cabin Work & Sick Wife

Hey Everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend. Ours was so so. My wife got sick and is currently on an antibiotic. She caught it all very early and her and the baby will be just fine. She wasn’t feeling well at the end of the week and went to the walk in clinic in town. They told her that even though her Strep test came back negative, her throat still looked like Strep, so she hopped on some meds.

Friday, like I eluded to, we went to work on the cabin. We were going to work on the floor mainly, and I guess my dad and brother ran into an issue with it so we worked on the walls mostly.Β  This first picture is my brother starting the second wall: (you can see the first one in the background.)

Here is a better picture of the first one. It was a very tight fit and when we got it up, I fastened it with screws, to the top and bottom.

Here is another quick shot of my dad and brother trying to get the second wall squared up. I ended up doing the rest of that wall myself. My brother and I put it up when I was done.

With the two walls framed they decided to at least put two sheets of flooring down. So we cut them to length and screwed them in.

We are going to have to cut a third piece and make it fit. We also have to add the walls around the rest of the build. If we want to get this thing done, we better hurry haha.

I want to say Saturday morning I went to the grand opening of Dunham’s. It is a sporting store like Dick’s, but on a smaller scale. They have a modest amount of outdoor gear and sports gear. Our local mall is undergoing a huge transformation. We went from a full mall to nothing, back to a full mall soon. This is the first real store to come in and more are to follow. Here is the donuts, coffee, and candy that they had for everyone.

My wife was home sick, trying to rest and get better. It was a cold day and not much got done. She was supposed to go to her baby brother’s first birthday party and baptism but wasn’t able to.

Sunday I had a softball scrimmage. It was more for the other team than us, but the practice never hurts. They are a new team and we have been playing together for over ten years. They were getting a feel for what position their players would play, and who would hit where in the order. We played about six innings, and let everyone bat around at the end. It was about 70 degrees and sunny so I got a little sunburn. Nothing like the first one of the year. Speaking of softball, our opening season tournament is the 6th-7th of May. May is going to go by lightning fast. Softball, baby, bachelor party, wedding, masons meetings/initiations! It will be a whirlwind.

Today has been pretty busy at work. Everyone waits until Monday to come forward with their issues haha. I have been dabbling in HTML and Ruby programming languages, but who knows how long that will last. Coding for me is hard, I don’t tend to think the way a programmer does. It never sticks. I always try, and I learn a lot. But I never can keep the information in my head. It is very frustrating.

Anyway, that’s where I’ll leave it today! I hope you all have a great start to your week. I’ll see you all back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
