Outing & Craft Festival!

Hey Everyone!

We had a very productive, fun, and chilly weekend!

Saturday we had our combined company outing/picnic. We were out on the water by 10am kayaking from the dam down to the park. there were over 100 people signed up, and quite a few came. It took my wife and I about three and a half hours to make our way down. Here is my wife ad mom up in front:

About half way down there are some pretty mean rapids. We made it through ok, others were not so lucky. I helped a couple in a canoe that flipped right in front of us, ans when I got back in my kayak I saw another guy behind me flip right over as well. Everyone was safe just a bit wet and maybe a bit cold. It wasn’t raining but the sun never did come out.

Later we had catered pulled pork and chicken, from a place a few miles away. It was delicious. We had six corn hole boards up and running as well as a few for washer toss, and disc golf. Before we left I won a $25 gift card to Olive Garden, so my wife and I will have to make a trip out there soon!

Sunday we woke up and got ready to go to the local craft festival. It is once a year and we always make it a point to go. This year was really fun but it was raining. Here is the guy that was making balloon animals:

There were vendors from all over. Exhibiting things from art, to soups, and to guitars.

Oh and they had a tiny petting zoo!

On our way out we picked up 10 pounds of grass fed beef from a farm no more than 30 miles away from us, and some sugar coated almonds.

Once we got home I got my favorite purchase out!

It is a CAO cigar box turned into a 3 string guitar. It is tuned to G D G. There are pickups in it so you can plug it in to an amplifier, and sounds ok if played acoustically. There is a neat story behind the one that I picked. The guy who makes these was asked to make a small Ukulele from a different CAO box, for the Master Blender of the CAO company. I guess the lady knew him personally and wanted it as a gift. For payment he was given two large boxes of cigar boxes. In one of those two boxes was this cigar box. He said he has never seen one like it before and it was the only one like it that he had made. He told me that the small Uke he made was in the Master Blenders office to this day. That is a neat backstory forΒ  the guitar. πŸ˜€

I finished Sunday off watching my beloved Cowboys do absolutely nothing against the Panthers. At least I had a beer to enjoy with it!

I hope you have all had a great weekend, I know I did! I’ll be back again tomorrow, hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

Welcome and good morning. It is Friday and I’m ready for the work day to be over haha.

I am working on my second cup of coffee here at work and trying to squeeze this post in. I have been unusually busy this morning. Today at work we are all sporting our favorite NFL team stuff. Anything from hats to jerseys and hoodies. It is fun to see some of the teams people like. We have a new sales guy that is a Patriots fan and he is working with a full sales staff of Steelers fans lol. We have a couple Bills fans, a dolphins fan, raiders, and Cowboys (myself included). It makes the day a little fun, and goes by a little faster being dressed down a bit.

Today is Groundhog Day! I feel like residents of Pennsylvania should have this day off! Of course only saying this because I live here, and for no other reason than wanting another paid holiday. πŸ˜€ I don’t think that damn groundhog predicts much of anything but it is a fun way to get together and have a good time, so why not? I would clearly want him to not see his shadow, which would mean that winter would end sooner, but the odds are against that. He seems to see that shadow more often than not. I’m sure the hundreds of people don’t help either haha.

I ought to be getting back to work now. I hope you all have a great weekend! If you are doing anything for the Super Bowl let me know, I’d love to hear about it. see you all on Monday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Some Things & Some Stuff

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was very pleasant. Friday was like any other. At work I was able to clean up our messy data closet in our second building. I don’t have any before photos, but it is much better trust me haha.

20180112_142919 20180112_143905

Saturday we had some snow to shovel off the sidewalks and I ran the snowblower up and down my driveway about an hour. I was able to hit the side walk of my two neighbors too. Not my terrible neighbor but the other two haha. We were going to go as a family to a wedding on my mom’s side of the family, but we had a small indecent. I was getting in some much needed gaming time and my wife was hanging out with Everett down stairs. He has gotten to the age where he can lunge and really play. He can hold himself up while sitting and can stand with help. That being said, he decided it would be a great idea to lunge straight off the couch. He fell flat on his face onto the floor. It sounds pretty terrible, but He just got a bruise and a bloody nose. He was happy shortly after. Here you can see his bruise setting in nicely.

Poor little guy! His mommy was shaken up pretty bad because she was there when it happened. I all I can do is reassure here there is nothing she could have done and that it wasn’t he fault in any way. Hes getting to be a fast, slippery little guy. He is dong just fine today. πŸ˜€

So needles to say, I went to the wedding alone. I met my parents there but it was at a fish and game club on a side road. It was pretty messy.

The wedding was a very redneck, laid back wedding. It was my mother’s second cousin, who was getting married. They made most of the food on the buffet line and it was a fun time. I made a plate and brought it home for my wife when I left. When my parents made it out they stopped over and saw Everett for a bit. They don’t see him very often because we take him with us all the time, so we find some time to let them come over and hang out.Β  The rest of the night was spent watching the terrible football games. I hate watching the Patriots win and hate watching the team that has the best chance of beating them lose all in the same day (Steelers) haha. Now the worst thing that could happen in the NFL right now is if the Patriots and Eagles both win. That would be a super bowl I wouldn’t even watch. The ideal game in my eyes would be the Steelers v. Vikings. Since that can no longer be true the next best game, in my eyes would be the Jags v. Vikings.

Sunday we a relaxing day I played some games, we went and got some pizza for lunch. We just lounged, and snuggled our baby all day. In the evening we watched the last half of the Vikings game, and pretty much just went to bed.

Today I am very busy at work, and I’m glad I could get this post out at all.

That was my weekend. I hope you all had a good one as well. πŸ˜€ I’ll see you all tomorrow.

Weekend Roundup!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was spontaneously more fun than first planned. We honestly didn’t have any plans. Friday we stayed in, made dinner, put up the new Christmas tree,Β  and watched Netflix. I know it is a bit early but we just bought it and there is no reason to store it for a couple weeks and get it back out. Everett was intrigued to say the least.

Saturday we cleaned up around the house and lounged for a while. My brother and his family came over to help me move the stove out of the way, so my wife could park in the garage. He was also there to collect the money for the gift we all went in on for my mom.

After they we went and got groceries, and thought about what we could do the rest of the day. We had a light bulb turn on in our heads, game night! First we gathered intel on whether or not people even wanted to. Once we had the interest we got a hold of my parents, my brothers family, and my other brother who also brought a date. We had successfully had eight adults and two babies over for game night. We played a game called Telestrations. It is like the traditional telephone game except instead of whispering to each other you draw a picture and the next person has to guess what you drew. by the time it gets to seven people the word you started with is not what you ended with. It is quite comical. I failed hard at getting a picture. This is mostly in part due to the fact that no one other than my wife knows that I run this blog. So they see me snapping pictures and think I’m really weird.

My parents bought chicken wings for us to eat for dinner and we all sat at the table and had a nice meal. This was also the first time any of us met my older brother’s date. Her name is Taylor, and she fit right in. They seem like a good fit and I hope that it works out the best way it can. He deserves someone in his life and she could be that someone.

Sunday we did stay in. I played a few video games, we watched Netflix and later watched some NFL games. My wife isn’t a fan so I’m sure she didn’t have the best time through that haha.

Today we are dealing with internal struggles about finances. We have a sewer main pipe that is busted and in need of repair. I want to have it done before the snow really sticks. It is costly and we don’t have the money in hand. They will accept credit cards and that may be the way we go, but I don’t want to back myself into a corner I can’t get out of. I think realistically that we can do it it will just take some time to pay off. We are hesitant because we are trying to have the whole basement waterproofed this spring which will cost a real pretty penny. On top of this with winter coming and having to trade vehicles with my dad I want a snow blower to clear our driveway, but of course a new one is about $500 for a small one. This would all be OK if there were happening one at a time but they will all run together and ruin my stress levels haha.Β  So to counter act that and end this post here are two pictures my dad sent me from way back when. (I’m the one with dark hair)

Here I’m sitting with my older brother, while he reads books. I was about three in these.

Here is one of my little brother and I at the local barber shop.

So this was 1991. Enjoy! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Birthday Party, Crafts, & Football!

Hey Everyone!

IT”S FRIDAY!!!!!!!

We are starting to see the ass end of hurricane Harvey. It is just bringing some rain and that is about it. We have had one storm but it wasn’t very serious. I hope that it clears up a bit for tomorrow though. Tonight the wife and I are going to look for a 1st birthday gift for our niece. It is hard to believe that she is about to be a year old!

Here is a little baby pic of her:

To a week from being 1:

What a change! She is a beautiful little girl. They are having a party for her Sunday. The rest of the night we will just spend indoors cuddled up with something to keep us occupied.

Saturday, weather permitting, we are going to a craft festival. It is held each year at our local fairgrounds.Β  My wife’s family will come into town and meet us there. They have live music, great food, and local vendors a plenty! Our goal is to make a day of it, but again it will be reliant on weather cooperation.

Sunday, like stated earlier, we are going to my niece’s birthday party. That won’t take more than two hours I’m assuming. Then on to a great part of my year, football season. I am a fan of all things Dallas, so naturally my team is the Cowboys. Sunday night they play the Giants, which is a divisional game. This one is a big deal for us, since they were the only team during the regular season who beat us! That is something they plan on correcting from last year. On another great note, the Patriots, who most everyone hates, lost their very first game to the Chiefs last night. It was a beautiful thing. A few analysts predicted that they were better than last year, and would go 16-0, well so much for that! πŸ˜€ That made my night.

I’ll be back again on Monday and hope to have a few good pictures to show you all! I’ll see you then. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What Did Your Weekend Involve?

Hey Everyone!

I had a pretty busy weekend, fun but busy. I am posting a bit early today because I am leaving work at noon. We are having our bedroom furniture delivered and I don’t want to be up until 11pm putting it together so I’ll do it during the day. πŸ˜€

I’ll skip right to Saturday. I went to my brothers to set up some tote storage in his basement. Check it out:

This is one of the two racks that we made. (That’s my brother) We made the big cuts to the plywood at my place with the table saw then brought it all to his house.

This is one of the four shelves we made. We cut the 2×4’s in his basement with his circular saw. He used left over wood from tearing apart his enclosed porch.

We finally got them up and together. He is going to fill that corner gap at a later date and maybe make one more.Β  For the time being it works well.

I couldn’t leave without seeing our work in action! We grabbed some of his totes from the attic and brought them down. Not too shabby if you ask me. πŸ˜‰

Sunday my wife and I went to get groceries (God, I can’t ever spell that word), and while we were there I was inspired from the night before. We have a tote storage system in our basement but it was covered in junk, and not organized at all. I took it upon myself to change that. I bought 10 totes of my own from the store and got to work. I cleared everything I could and burnt what could be burnt. I am now left with six spots for totes and the rest are filled with Christmas decorations, and extra flooring.

While we were shopping I also grabbed some plumber’s caulking. Where our baseboard meets the wall, under our new kitchen pass through, is a gap for one reason or another. It looked like crap. I was able to fill it with a white silicone mixture and for never doing it before it looks great. I got quite a bit done with weekend.

Later that day of course we went to my parent’s house for the football game. I’m disappointed that the Patriots won only because now they are tied with the Cowboys for Super Bowl wins haha. We had about 10-12 people over for the game, so it was cozy in one room. We had homemade pizza and other little snacks. It looked like it was going to be a blow out there for a little while, and then I think Lady Gaga changed all that! After the first half it was a whole new ball game. The Pats scored 25 unanswered points to come back and tie the game. That’s pretty insane. The Patriots won the coin toss in over time and marched down the field and won the game with one more final touchdown. The Falcons had a chance to make it a two score game and didn’t capitalize, shame on them lol. The Pats made history in the fact that no team has ever won from a deficit of 14+ points, ever in a Super Bowl. Tom Brady of course went on to get his third SB MVP award, and his fifth Lombardi trophy.

That was my weekend, what did you do? Feel free to let me know in the comments below!

I’ll see you back again tomorrow, and I’ll let you know how my furniture turns out! C-ya πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Nerdin’ Out & the Super Bowl

Hey Everyone!

We made it, it is yet again another Friday. Yet again, another end to a tedious work week.

I did manage to get some excitement this morning. I got a text from our network admin here at work at about 7 am, saying that the internet was down for the whole company. If you aren’t sure what that means in the big picture I’ll explain. We still were able to work on internal projects, but anything that had to deal with other companies we couldn’t do. We did still have email since is it routed through another service, not hosted here on site. So, at 7 am I had to come in to find out what was wrong. It was a puzzle, I had to figure out what was stopping traffic and get it working again. This all while not having any coffee yet lol. From the information I was given it seemed to be the companies physical firewall., but when I came in it looked like it was operating just fine. I double checked what worked and didn’t work at my desk and went back into our server room. I noticed that our physical web filter was blinking a weird orange color and investigated. I came to the only conclusion that I could, I pulled the plug. I reset the web filter and everything instantly connected fr everyone. We then ran into a smaller, yet still significant, issue. We host mail relay on one of our services and even though everything was connected it still wasn’t relaying. This regarding things like when you go to scan something to yourself from a printer. We then got on the server where it was hosted and reset the service and we were able to watch all of the hung emails disappear. They were then being sent in real time and all was good in the world.Β  Well at least, you know, where I work haha. Now that I have completely confused most of you and made you lose interest in this post, lets switch gears.

This weekend We are going to focus on moving our books from my parents house and over to ours. This will help my parents clear out the upstairs of their house, and get us a little bit more moved in. I think while we are there Saturday we will start a pile of things that can be donated or thrown out, and a pile of things that we still want and need to get moved at some point. It will be a long day and will be very boring. I don’t want to do it at all but it has to be done. Sunday is the big game, the Super Bowl. Again although my team isn’t in it it will still be fun to be with family and watch a football game. I’ll let you know how it is later.

I found out today that my bed frame, dresser, and end tables are being delivered to my house on Monday! I also bought the nightstands to match yesterday because they were back in stock. One more thing to add to my credit card bill haha. when it is all said and done we will have furnished the dining room, living room, the babies room, and our bed room. So in the grand scheme of things it will be worth it. We will furnish the attic and the other bedroom as we go along and use them more. We would also like to finish putting up the quarter round trim on all the floors on the second floor. I still have to measureΒ  the other rooms before I can do that completely. The list never gets shorter, it only changes haha.

I hope you have all had a good week, and have a great weekend. Let me know if you have any plans for the Super Bowl, I’d love to see what other people will be doing. Let me know who you will be routing for, or if you just want to see a good game. C-ya Monday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What Should We Name Our Son?

Hey Everyone!

Last night our contractor did indeed come back. Thankfully he was only here for about 30 minutes. We secured the counter with caulking on the under side, and also lined the edges. He brought in his nail gun and put up the trim. So his work there is done! We, on our own, want to get trim for all of the corners, and paint a few of the small spots that we scuffed up from lifting the counter. Once that is done we will be officially finished with that project. We may run to the store soon, or wait a bit.

Tomorrow we are allowed to wear our favorite NFL team jersey, in good spirit for the football game Sunday. I will of course be wearing my Jason Witten jersey. As most of you know I am a Dallas Cowboys fan, and have been since I was a toddler in the early 90’s. They had a very good year this year, one of the best on record. It was cut short by the Packers in a very close comeback game. You could say, mistakes were made lol. That won’t change the fact that they are still my go to team and always will be. That’s is what being a true fan is about. πŸ˜€Β  Speaking of the Super Bowl, we will have our annual party at my parents house. We take all the weird little bets before the game, like how long the anthem will be and who will score first, stuff like that. We do all of that just for the fun of it. Most of my family comes over and we make homemade pizza mmmm. I’ll be sure to take some pictures and have it in a post next week.

I have a few quick fire things on my mind too. Here they are:

  • My wife and I are looking for awesome boy names
  • I have to pay my gas bill
  • Lost is killing me now that I’m a few episodes into season 6
  • I wonder what I’ll eat for dinner

I never said it was an exciting list, but that is the stuff that hits me all at the same time.

Feel free to share you ideas about baby boy names if you would like. I’ll gladly pitch them to my wife if they catch my interest. file_176589_0_baby_boy_names

That’s it for today folks. I hope you have enjoyed your stay today. I’ll see you back again tomorrow for a update on the weekend and possibly a couple of other things, who knows what! C-ya πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend Activities

It’s Monday Again!

This seems to happen every week.

Over the weekend my family celebrated Christmas with my grandfather. He leaves for Florida soon and likes to meet with his family for Christmas, so we have been doing it early. This was the last year that we are doing presents since it is a bit out of control being the first of October. We will continue the tradition of meeting up and having a good lunch/dinner, and catching up with each other. My cousin Zach has two kids now and one was born a day before my brothers. So we had three babies to keep us all company. It is nice to see our family getting bigger and carrying through generations.

Yesterday my wife and I stayed out in that area because we had a baby show for her brother and his wife. Their baby is due later in November. It was a dreary day but we all made the best of it. It was in her father’s barn. There was plenty of room, food, and good company. We watched her open her presents and had to leave soon after to get home.

Later that evening I played basketball with some co-workers. We play every winter to keep us somewhat active through the cold months. This was the first meet up this year. We play for two hours with a small break right in the middle. The teams and games depend heavily on who shows up. Last night we had 9 people, so we played 4v4 and let one person have a breather after each game. After that I got home, showered, and got ready for the Steelers game. Most of my family are Steelers fans so I end up watching them quite a bit. Even though I’m a huge Cowboys fan! My brother came over with his new daughter and we watched the Steelers demolish the Chiefs.

This morning I was feeling pretty sore form the basketball games, but I felt good at the same time. This work day has been moving by pretty quickly as well. That is something I will never complain about.

My wife and I are still on the hunt for the perfect house for us. We are now thinking about finding a plot of land and putting down a modular home. If we can find the right spot for the right price we might be good to go. I know it is a lengthy process but we have to start moving soon, or we will start to go crazy.

That is all for today, I hope you all had a great weekend. See you tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Truck, Football, and Home Buying?

Hey Everyone!

I left work at noon yesterday to work on my truck some more. I was able to get spark plugs and spark plug wires from Auto Zone. I went home and with out a jack and jack stands had one hell of a time replacing the wires. I did manage to get it all done in the few hours I had to work with. Not everything went well, I ended up ripping the old wires in half trying to get the out haha. So that really made me feel some pressure to get the new ones in, or I wouldn’t have had a car to drive today. I wans’t

*Pause while I helped “re-decorate” a co workers office with post its*

Hmmm not sure where I was going with the first two words of that last sentence so forget that was even written. πŸ˜‰

I had to order my cold air intake, and to my surprise I is here already. I will be picking it up today after work and putting that in tonight. I will hopefully remember to snap a picture or two so I can show you tomorrow.

The Steelers played the Redskins last night, and with most of my family being Steelers fans we were able to go to my brother’s house and watch the game. Having a new baby and all it was easier for them to have us over. It was a good game to watch and I love seeing the Redskins lose as a Dallas fan.

Today brought some excitement and stress. My wife told me to go ahead and start the process of putting in an offer on a house. It is a huge 3500sqft house. It is in the historical district of our city. It isn’t out of town and has a smaller yard but what it lacks there is made up for in the hugeness of the house. It is over 100 years old but very well built. We are going to meet up with the realtor again Monday I think. It is exciting and scary at the same time. I just want to know that if we get it that we can afford everything. I hope it moves fast and slow at the same time lol. The faster we can move in the better and the slower we get hit with expenses the better. I need to acclimate myself a bit.Β  I will keep you updated there as well.

I’ll see you all again tomorrow. I have some PC work to do now, byeee.Β  πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
