Happy New Year! Baby Photo Shoot!

Hey Everyone!

I hope you had a happy and safe New Years Eve. With any luck we can carry it on through the year.

I don’t tend to make a big deal out of starting another calendar year, since nothing really changed and none of it really makes a difference, but it is nice to get together with family to ring it in. We went to my brother’s house and played a few games and almost made it to midnight. Our boy woke up, in not a great mood, about 20 minutes before. We packed our stuff and went home. Once we were home we turned on the TV and to our surprise we didn’t miss the ball drop. Just barely. We watched the countdown, kissed, and went to bed haha.

What did you do for New Years Eve?

My post is late, yes I know. Our ISP had some outages today and that killed our network. So for the last couple of hours our connection has been erratic. I wan’t sure I could post, but know I can. For that here is the mini photo shoot my wife had with Everett to close out the post, and start the year off right. (She is talented)

I hope that puts a smile on your faces. I’ll see you tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Zac Brown Band & Cabin Build

Hey Everyone!

I am back from my long weekend!

for those who may not know, my wife and I went to a Zac Brown Band concert she won tickets to. Β The concert was Thursday evening at 7 pm, at Youngstown State University. I guess it was the first time they have ever had a concert, and people we having a blast.

The band Midland was the opener and play for about an hour. Here was our view, mind you it was still the opener and daylight so the stands weren’t full yet.

mher (2)mher (3)

Here is a quick clip of Midland from Thursday playing there no. 1 hit ‘Drinkin’ Problem.

The rest of the night was awesome. The Zac Brown Band is great live! They even covered Bohemian Rhapsody, I didn’t expect that. It was looking like rain and that held off. It was a ton of driving for one night but it was all worth it.

mher (5)mher (4)mher (6)mher (7)

The pictures aren’t great but I wanted something haha.

Here is a clip of their super famous song ‘Chicken Fried’.

You can really tell the crowd was into it. If you make it to the end you can see that they continue to just do awesome instrumentals for a whole minute.

We made our way home and arrived after 1 am. We went right in, thanked my mom for watching our son and hit the hay!

Friday was spent relaxing. Saturday and Sunday I went with my dad and brother to get some more work done on the cabin. We started on the ends first.

Here is my brother adding the first piece of plywood.

mher (9)

We have arch gaps to fill at the top but the windows are all in and framed.

mher (13)

The other side done the same, with the bigger window framed.

mher (14)

Here is just a shot of the outside.

mher (11)

Next we worked on framing in a couple of french doors that we no longer needed. They will not be doors at all, rather just tall windows with builtin blinds!

mher (10)

Here is where they will go, one on each side.

mher (16)mher (12)

Here they are mostly framed in, and I figured I should get a picture now or else I would forget. The first is with the blinds closed then open. It should be a great feature for light and style.

mher (1)mher (18)

It is moving right along. Once we frame in the real door, and cover the two ends we are going to seal it up. We are going to caulk the floor gaps, and use expanding foam around the roof and walls. Next will be to insulate the inside all while having the other people putting on the siding. from there we are going to put Amish rough cut wood on the front, and plywood the inside. Then it is just a matter of building the interior, as far as bunks counters, and moving in furniture. Still quite a bit to do but it should be ‘livable’ for a weekend by first snow.

I had a jam packed weekend, but it was all a good time. I hope you all had great ones as well. If you get a chance check out my last post. It is a short film review that I was requested to do. Kinda neat actually.

I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Emergency Room Scare!

Hey Everyone!

Like I thought, I wasn’t really able to post anything yesterday. I sometimes have to cover for a co-worker when she is off work, and yesterday was one of those days. She works a funky shift, and it is hard to get anything going. On top of that like the title states we had a bit of an issue the night before, that shift. Everything is, seemingly, fine now but meh.

Lets start Monday morning. I signed up to give blood at work, like I always do. The machine for double red blood cells was free, and I asked if I was able to give more. They checked everything over and cleared me to give double reds. They basically take more of your red blood cells and in the process put your plasma and saline back in periodically. I have done this before and it has been no big deal. Towards the end I felt a little light headed but nothing out of the ordinary after losing two pints of blood haha. After I sat down and have a juice, brownie, and pretzels to keep my energy up. I returned to work like normal and ran through the rest of my day. Later that evening I ran to Lowes with my brother and got a chest freezer and groceries with my wife. I kept the “heavy lifting” to a minimum, but maybe I still over did it. It was early to bed since I had to get up much earlier, but when I got off the couch I got some weird blurry vision and my head felt really weird. I went up stairs and started having a panic attack. So that surely didn’t help anything. I told my wife to pack up the baby and take me to the ER. I was feeling better for the most part but wanted to check it out anyway. I forgot to mention when they put in the needle to take my blood it wasn’t going in my vein easy so they have to mess with it. The doctor said that the red on my arm could be a blown vein or hematoma.

Either way I knew that it would bruise, I just didn’t think this was normal. I also had a weird fluid like pain in my ears when I moved my head, as well as a funny feeling in the back of my sinuses. The ER doctor and my aunt, who is in the medical field both thought it had nothing to do with giving blood, but I can assure you that none of this happened until right after I did. I slept that night and woke fine in the morning. Worked my early shift and went home. Once home I started getting a headache and that intense ear pain again. I still haven’t got any answers! I slept fine again and feel great yet again. I’m curious to see how tonight will go. Am I going to have this crap happen again? Who knows.

So long story short I didn’t have anything to post yesterday haha.

Here at work I did get my cork board and had it hung up!

I can now see all my stuff without having to find a file somewhere else. Yippie! I’m gearing up to work on a few more PCs that just came in the mail, and get ready to cover my other co-worker since he will be off for about a damn month in like two weeks. He is going on a church mission to 11 countries in Europe! How fancy is that? I wish I wasn’t afraid to fly because I would love to go to Europe.

Anyway that is about all from me today. I’ll keep you posted on anything new and exciting. Oh, I also finished the 5th season of “Orange is the New Black.” I won’t say anything because I know most people still haven’t finished it, but it is pretty good!

I’ll be back again tomorrow. I hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend Update!

Hey Everyone!

I hope you have enjoyed the hot weekend! But we are back with another weekend update, brought to you by Monday. πŸ˜€

Saturday morning I woke up and met my brother at my dad’s house. We got everything we needed to go work on the cabin for the day. We had some stuff out there already which is nice, that way we don’t always have to keep carrying everything through the woods all the time. We got to camp and started working on the floor. Here you can see my brother cutting a notch in a floor board:

Since the cabin is being made by complete amateurs it isn’t square. That being said, each piece needs a little TLC, to fit correctly. Here my brother is marking the part that needs to be cu down a bit:

We had my brothers dogs out there with us. They are zero help. haha. They like to watch what was going on and play in the creek. My dad brought one of his dogs, but he got attacked in a way, by the big black dog, so he stayed in the car. I felt bad for him, he is scared often but he loves coming out to camp, and wasn’t able to enjoy any of it. But on the bright side he ad a couple nice car rides!

Here we are finally done for the day. We could have worked much longer, but the problem with having no electricity and a limited amount of batteries is that they will eventually die. :/

We have three more boards to secure to the floor then we can frame the remaining three walls. Once that is done it is off to the races. We can get the door and windows in, as well as add the outside walls. It will come together quickly, and be a real place to stay after that. We will continue to work on the inside as well.

Sunday was a hot hot hot day to play softball, but we got it done! It got to about 92 degrees of just beating down heat with a clear sky. Like normal, we had two games. We won the first one and lost the second one, but we weren’t upset because we were just out played. In other news my boy Everett was able to come down to the fields for the first time in his life. Here you can see my mom feeding him:

Cale (1 of 6)

And again burping him πŸ˜€ :

Cale (2 of 6)

After the games my wife wanted a couple more pictures to commemorate the experience. So even though I look awful here they are haha:

Cale (5 of 6)Cale (6 of 6)

Later that night we had some homemade Stromboli for dinner and finished the night off with some ice cream. Much to my surprise I weight myself again for the first time in a little bit and look what I saw (pardon my gross feet):

For the first time in my ‘eating better’ diet I am under 200lbs! Woo! That is awesome. I’m still doing basically no exercise other than softball and the occasional pushups. I am just eating healthier and having better portions. It is a great feeling.

That was my weekend! I hope you had a great one too. I’ll be back again tomorrow. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Busy Mornings!

Hey Everyone!

Today has been insightful. My wife had her weekly baby appointment, and I got my free estimate for the basement.

My wife seems to be on track, as far as the doctors are concerned. She is in the good range of weight gain and, not having any pain in her belly or head. She is feeling it in other ways though. Her feet are swollen, as she is on her feet a lot for her job. Her back is hurting from carrying him around all day, and her shoulder has started hurting for an unknown reason. She was told that she could expect him at any time from here on out.Β  We are still very excited and nervous for what is to come. I was speaking with a college friend of mine last night about it a bit, because him ad his wife just had a baby a couple months ago. He told me it was an unexplainable experience, and I already agree. He is someone I have always looked up too so to be able to talk to him about it was insightful and reassuring.

As for the basement update, we had a guy come to my house today. He measured the basement and determined that it would be best to use a Water Guard drain around the interior perimeter of the house, and drain into a sump pump, with a battery backup. From there it would pump outside, and have an ice guard to still allow it to pump even if the pipes froze outside.

Here is what the cover of some of it looks like. Below is the actual estimate. It is damn expensive. It is only written for the pump without the battery. With the battery it is almost $900 more.

We are stuck between a rock and a hard place here. We need it to be done, so we can stop stressing about it. We want to finish the basement someday and don’t want mold. If we are going to do it we wanted to do it right. Well this is right… On the other hand, we don’t have any money and have a baby coming any day now. In the long run I think we agree that we should do it. They are back logged into July already, so we have to let them know soon.

One yet another note, we have our first softball game Saturday at 9am. We should beat the team we are up against but anything can happen in slow pitch!

I hope you all have a great weekend! I’ll see you again Monday with a weekend update. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Well That Could Have Been Better!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend wanted to be great but had some setbacks! As you will see below, things got a bit messy.

Friday was a night of gaming and Netflix. I was going to work on the cabin Saturday, even though the weather was crappy. Sunday we were planning to tour the hospital in Erie, PA. Most of that went as planned. Most.

Friday, was going well I was just telling my friend over Team Speak ( a voice chat software) how well things were looking and how quickly things were coming together with the house. Soon after I was going to let the dog out and give her a treat, when I walked down stairs and found this mess:

You can see the floor should be red. The small marks are from the cat haha, and mine are the bigger ones. There was about 2-5 inches of water through out my whole entire basement.

Everything was floating around like those baskets, and the cat liter box in the back.

And finally The back door gets opened and a huge drain pipe is backed up. I think this was the cause of most of it.Β  I don’t have ‘after’ cleanup pictures because, well I was beat. I spent all day Saturday, not building a cabin, but mopping up the remaining water. I cranked the heat and closed the upstairs vents. It was super hot but necessary. I mopped and mopped and mopped. Once it was all dry you could see what dirt was still left on the ground. I still need to re-mop everything or Swiffer it to finish it all off. After that whole day being rough I went and bought a six pack and had a few haha. It was a late night and I didn’t get much sleep.

Sunday I got up early for some unknown reason. I made breakfast for my wife and served it to her in bed. I also found a recipe online for a Tim Horton’s Iced Cappuccino and made it for her. We did get out to Erie and we went early to make it worth our while. We walked around the mall and stopped in the maternity store to get a few things. Next we hit up the local Barnes and Noble, to pass the time. When we were through there and getting hungry we stopped at a Hibachi restaurant, for an early dinner. Then it was off to the hospital , for the tour. We arrived about a half hour early and waited for the other couples to arrive. The tour did take a full hour like they said it would. In short it was amazing! The facility is perfect, maybe beyond that. They have five floors devoted to just maternity.Β  We are going to try our hardest to get out there to deliver the baby, when the time comes. By the time we got home it was time for bed, so we cleaned up and went to bed. My wife went back to work for the time being this week and wasn’t pleased to wake up to her alarm after having the week off haha.

That’s all for this post! I hope you had a somewhat better weekend than mine lol.

I’ll see you all again tomorrow! Speaking of that, when the baby is born I won’t be posting for like a week, since I won’t be at work. If I’m feeling up to it I may post some updates but who knows.Β  πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Gearing Up For The Baby!

Hey Everyone!

Today has been baby centered, fully. All for good reasons , no need for alarm.

This morning, my work held a small baby shower for my wife and I. It is pretty awesome that they do that sort of thing. It was during break and usually gets extended because everyone is still there. My wife came in to work just before break. The work bell rings and we all met up in the kitchen/dining area of my work. They had bought a full, big cake for everyone to enjoy. It had little booties and rattles on it. They asked a couple weeks ago what her favorite type of cake was and that was what they ordered. She picked lemon in case you were wondering.

They took a few pictures for our Human Resources department, and then presented us with a gift basket. I was full of goodies! We got things like lotion, oil, cream, bids, towels, and diapers. All great things to have more of. They told us that they had a few other things for us too but that they hadn’t come in yet. The girl in charge was mad at FedEx for not getting the items here in time and gave them a piece of her mind, behind closed doors of course haha. She is a girl who has just had two babies of her own so she knew what to get. We also gave them a copy of our most current registry. She is going to just bring the rest in to work when it gets here. That is totally fine with us. The thought really does count in this scenario. Most companies don’t go above and beyond for their employees, like this one does.

We are going to send the company a nice card thanking them again for putting it all on and for the gifts.

After that shower, my wife had a routine doctors appointment for the baby. She is at the point where she is now required to go every week until the baby is born. That means it is getting close! It is getting down to the wire and exciting. Her blood pressure is up, for her, but not for people in general so it was nothing to worry about. The babies heart rate was in the good range and everything is looking good. Just a little more waiting left to do then it’s time to rock and roll!

This takes me right up to lunch!

That’s all I have on this front for today! I hope you are enjoying the updates, and baby news, as much as I am. I hope to see you all back again Monday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Daddy-O-Five Scandal (Thoughts?)

Hey Everyone!

We just had another retirement lunch today at work. We have it catered and it is always very good. It was pulled pork, coleslaw, fruits, veggies, potato salad, and cake. I was also tempted with a full can of Monster today too! My co-worker went and bought one out of the machine and three fell out. How crazy is that?!? I did well, and want to let you know. I had a scoop of pork (no bun), a small scoop of coleslaw, and loaded up on the fruits and veggies. That’s it! I beat the temptation of cake and Monster haha.

Quick update, the Roku is amazing. We are going to wait on getting Hulu with it, but the Netflix and free channels that come with it are great. Until we have a need for more we are set. It was very easy to install, and quicker than anything I have every set up.

I am now officially on the hunt for a vehicle. I really want a truck, but it has to have back seats for the baby. I have a small truck now and it would be great, except it doesn’t have back seats. I have been searching around and found a truck similar to mine, but 4-door and with 4×4. I also have to have it be a reliable vehicle. This will be the first vehicle that I have actually owned, or rather on my wife’s name for me, for insurance purposes. It will be the first time I am responsible for everything for a vehicle. So it is kinda scary to me. I mean I have done maintenance and paid for some stuff over the years but not everything. Our company nurse may be hooking me up with a 09 Lincoln MKZ for way cheaper than it should be, but I have to get a hold of her about it. That is first on my list. My wife’s grandpa will give me his 05 Buick Century, but we aren’t sure how much longer it will last because it has 190,XXX miles on it. He keeps it maintained very well, but still. So I have some options, but I still want a truck so if those don’t get me what I want then I’ll still check out others.Β  I am starting the process of test drives and what not.

On to some community content! I have been a huge follower of Phil DeFranco over the years. He has a great view and great conversations on news and what not. If you haven’t seen the drama that the YouTube channel ‘DaddyOFive’ he covers it well. They actually blame him for the story blowing up in one of their response videos. I’ll like a couple of his videos below so you can get caught up.

This is the first video that he posted about it.

This one is when he was blamed.

There are others on his channel as well, but those are the two main ones. The videos were taken down but he had them all and was supportive to the authorities when they were looking for the deleted videos. Since this all blew up they have lost custody of two of the half siblings one of which being Cody who took most of the physical stuff. Him and his sister now live with their biological mom.

I would love to know your thoughts on this whole thing. I am at a loss for words that this was allowed to go on for so long. It makes me cringe just to know people out there do stuff like this or worse. I am glad that light was shed on this and that it is hopefully over. Please let me know your thoughts??

That is where I’ll leave you all today! I hope you have a great Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

How Busy Can One Man Be? (Pictures)

Hey Everyone!

Back again on a dreary, Monday. It is colder than it was all weekend and still rainy. That being said there were a lot of things being done this weekend. I’ll quickly go through them, since I have a few more pictures than I normally do.

First up I got what I could out of my frozen cider! It was a little more than 2 liters. This is what I expected from 2 gallons of cider. I wish it was a bit clearer, but its not bad. I had some and it is definitely alcoholic haha.

Saturday we were up nice and early and going to get some work done on the cabin. We put the rest of the roof up and they did a few more floor boards without me and a wall frame.

(Below) You have my little brother, trying his best to attache the roof, without sliding off of it. You can wee how wet it is.

(Below) My dad and older brother are probably in a discussion about that piece on the right going up a certain way. It was nice that my older brother could come up. he works second shift and his sleep is all messed up.

Later after I left I went home and took my wife to Olive Garden for dinner, then strolled the mall.

On our way back, we passed a dinner that I always want to make time for and never do. I asked her if she would want to go the next morning (Sunday) for breakfast, and she said yes. We got up and got there about 8:30-9:00am. It is a small place but with great food.

You can see the walls were decked out with old pop cans and signs.

The tables are are covered with a glass sheet, but have cards, records and ads from old magazines under it.

Here is just a shot of how small it really is. That is the kitchen there in the middle.

They also had some memorabilia, that boarded on the creepy haha. It was displayed liek this in a few spots. with old toys and dolls.

Here is the store front, and you could guess that it sits right on Rt. 62! Go figure.

To put it in perspective, here is what is directly across the street.

It was a good decision to stop there for breakfast. Later that day my wife’s grandparents made the trip and came over to see us. We went and looked at teh local dam, which is a huge tourist attraction. Later we headed to Applebees for a less than satisfying lunch.

After they left, I followed a thought I had had for a while and bought two Roku Express thingys, for my TVs.

They were super easy to set up and after restarting my router I connected just fine. Everything is fast and responsive. We now have three network enabled TVs in our home. My office is becoming complete haha. I also have a futon mattress being delivered Thursday! I’m very excited.

I hope you all had a great weekend, and hopefully better weather! I’ll see you all again tomorrow. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Almost Forgot!

Hey Everyone!

I thought I would get some stuff done around the house and clean up a bit, but that didn’t happen.

I had some reminders set, for good reason, for the masonic practice yesterday. I knew at the end of the day that I wouldn’t get much of what I wanted to done. I heated up some leftovers for dinner and checked my mail and what not. I hung out and watched some Netflix with my wife and that was that. At least for the practices you don’t have to dress up, I’m not a huge fan of wearing a shirt with the top button buttoned haha.

My dad came over and picked me up to go to practice. When we got there we thought we wouldn’t have much of a turnout, as we were the only people there. Within minutes more people showed up. We went over how to do the ballad box for voting and part of the 3rd degree. It was a fairly quick practice.

After practice, and on the ride home we discussed the cabin and how we need doors and windows. That lead to a conversation on cars, and other stuff. If I can’t find a vehicle when the baby is here, we will share vehicles until I can. Only living a block away is good for that. When I got home I loaded some boxes up and a pair of stained glass windows, to take to his house. We are going to use them on the ends of the cabin.

Today, after work I am going to pack my to go baby bag because I haven’t yet. I am also going to put the Apple Jack back into the original bottles, and freeze them at my parent’s house because I don’t have any freezer room. We are looking into getting a chest freezer, but ya know, that costs money that we don’t have haha. I also found out last night that we have another softball scrimmage tomorrow, so that will be fun.

That is all for today, sorry not a ton of content but it was a bit lax yesterday.

I hope to see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
