Life, Heckfire, & Ingress!

Hey Everyone!

I wasn’t able to get a post out yesterday. I was focused on finding a solution or possible solution to the dilemma I posed Monday. Although I haven’t been able to do so, I have gathered my thoughts enough to post today haha.

We are working on some change, not sure what entirely, but change none the less. It may be my wife taking another job. It may be downsizing our house. It may be moving to another area. It may also be building new. Lastly it could remain the same, with tweaks to our budget. We are not certain which is best, which is viable, or which we will choose. It will be sorted either way, sometime, hopefully sooner than later.

On a much lighter note, I have been playing a mobile game in my free time that has become quite addicting. It is called, “Kingdoms of Heckfire.”

It is a clan based game like most of the others, but it has a cartoon live vibe to it unlike the rest. You build your own kingdom, level your buildings, research to add strength, and join a clan. Once in a clan you follow their set rules. You can, depending on what you want to do, climb the ranks and become a top advisor to the leader. You can also branch out and make your own clan from scratch. Our clan is now the #5 clan in our realm. I am one of the three VPs and have a lot of power over what is done within the clan. We create and break alliances to better suit our needs, and being one of the most powerful we can force our might on smaller clans. Now in a way our clan in particular has taken communication toΒ  whole different level. We have created a few Discord channels, one for our clan with a sub group for our leaders, as well as the same set up for us and the other clans we have allied with. This actually keeps the game fresh all day long. Instead of relying on in game notifications, I can be pinged in Discord about what is going on in more of a real time way. In some ways this game is more stress than it is worth, but it, like most video games helps distract you from reality, and lets you become whatever you want. That to me is fun.

Speaking of fun mobile games, I am still playing Ingress as well. That is, when I can. I don’t have much free time anymore to just waste gas and drive to portals haha. I have been able to slightly take back my small city from the evil enlightened green guys. Screen shot below:

I have made the majority of those fields and layered what I could. It may get taken out as we speak but for now it is covered. I have been doing most of the work myself, which is proving to be quite hard. I am low on resources all around. I do what I can. I have been playing for well over a year now and I have found myself capped as far as leveling due to badge progress. I need another gold badge to level up, and I have all of the ex to level just fine. I have been slow on some of the badges due to the area I play in and lack of travel. :/ It is understandable though and I’ll get there in time.

That is all for me I hope you have a great hump day, and I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Christmas #1!

Hey Everyone!

Welcome back on this fine Monday. Lets see, I’ll fill you in on this weekend in this post. Friday was very normal and not much was going on. Saturday we woke up and my wife wanted to get some last minute Christmas shopping done. We headed about a half an hour away and hit up the T.J. Maxx. We brought Everett, like we normally do, and he was pretty fussy the whole time.Β  I ended up carrying him so that my wife could focus on getting what she came for. He is getting heavy enough now that he really hurts your back. We were also having a guy come buy our pellet stove finally! He was supposed to come at 3-3:30 Saturday and he called me while we were still out shopping, saying he was at our house! We were about 25 minutes away and definitely not home. I was able to tell him that I would get a hold of my dad and/or brother to meet him. By the time I got home he was gone and my dad handed me the money. That was the easiest thing I had to do all weekend haha.Β  So here is your typical ‘money shot’ after the sale haha.

You may remember me talking about a game called Ingress. It is a mobile augmented reality game. If you don’t play it, you should. You should also be sure to join the blue team (Resistance). πŸ˜‰ Anyway, every so often a group of us get together, hangout, and most times, play the game in a group. We also stop and have lunch or dinner.Β  We met up this summer and played for a while and had some awesome pizza. It being a terrible winter night, we all just met up for some food at a bar and caught up with each other on Saturday. We had the typical 7 people there, even though we were missing a few others due to sickness and car trouble. I’m sure they will see us at the next one. If you are thinking about trying it out just know that it is a huge game, played worldwide, and addicting as all get out. You can hook up with local players all over and join groups on things like Facebook, Google Hangouts, and Zello. Dinner was actually really dang good. I built my own blue cheese burger, while others got home made prime rib, and pizza. All of which got great reviews.

Sunday my wife’s dad and family came into town to celebrate Christmas with us. We are trying to start the trend of not really traveling on Christmas since we always travel to see them every.single.time. This year is working well so far, they came this weekend. Next weekend will be the rest of her family and possibly mine. We are probably going to my parents late Christmas day just because my brothers and I went in on gifts for my parents and it wouldn’t make since to not all be there. Back to yesterday though. They brought a nice spaghetti casserole, and we made salad and bread sticks. Nothing fancy but here is our little table spread.

Afterwards the boys played a bit and we opened gifts that we got for each other. Here is my brother in-law Remi playing with his dump truck.

Next we have Everett and his Grandpa Fred, hangin out on the couch. Look at those happy faces.

This one is just a group shot of everyone, except me that is, while opening gifts.

Here we have Everett with a bow on his head looking at his farm puzzle. He really likes chewing on those haha.

Everett and Remi are both playing with Remi’s puzzle in this one. I love seeing him sitting up and interacting with other kids.

We have two shots of him opening his big gift from his grandma and grandpa. He got a little sit on train with fun little buttons and lights on the sides. He can have it for a while and grow in to the rest of it.

Seriously how stinkin cute!

After that they headed home, they live about an hour and a half away. With it getting dark so early it is hard to stay very long anywhere. Once they left we gave Everett some of the spaghetti casserole.

He isn’t quite sure what to do or think about it all, and he is slow to bring real food to his mouth. We are trying to use a technique we learned from my cousins this summer called ‘Baby Led Weaning’ It is an approach to introduce solid food, to encourage the baby to self-feed. It is not done with any pureed food on a spoon. It isn’t to wean them off of milk but rather on to solids. Everett is now sitting with us and ‘attempting’ to eat what we eat. He can eat at his own pace, as well as as much or as little as he wants. He isn’t tied to only a few types and kinds of food. He is still getting breast milk and he is under very careful supervision. It seems to be going well. πŸ˜€ It is different from what people are used to and it freaks people out but it just fine for babies. I was freaked out at first, but not too much anymore. If you would like to read about it check this link out. Mama Natural.

That was about the end of our night. Oh, I am also testing streaming services to find what will work for us. I started my 7 day trial of Sling TV and can tell you now it isn’t what I want. I will be going to Hulu Live TV next weekend and think I will like it much more. I will also try to plug the coaxial cable right into my TV and pick up local channels. I’ll try to remember to let you know how it all goes.

I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Birthday Weekend & Ingress Meetup!

Hey Everyone!

I have a few pictures here to help me tell you about my fun weekend.

Friday My wife took me out for an early birthday dinner at the Still House. We wanted to do something alone since on my actual birthday we spend it with family. I got a nice moonshine cocktail with dinner. I think it was black cherry shine, with unfiltered back berry juice, mixed in some sort of sprite or 7 Up. It was delicious either way. My diet/healthy lifestyle took a back seat this weekend. I had a very good black and blue burger with pizza logs that night.

Saturday I took my time getting up, but was still up by 7am with my baby. I eventually got ready for the day. We had our annual Ingress picnic, in Kane Pa. this year. I made sure to get a corny ‘about to be on the road’ picture for you all haha.

I made my way to Kane to meet up with the other members of the Wardens of the PA Wilds crew. We had eight people there this year. There was supposed to be a few more of us there, but little things pop up in life all the time. We met in one of the local parks, where we would do most of our game play later in the day. We soon left and went to Bob’s Trading Post for some pizza, and to wait for the other crew members to join us. I had not ever been to the trading post, but the food was delicious, and the outdoor seating was great for a nice day.

The rest of the afternoon was spent playing the game around Kane and basically stocking up on all of the gear we could need in the near future. Over all the day was a success. The weather held off, the people were great as usual, the food was spectacular, and we did what we went there to do! πŸ˜€ I can’t wait until the next meet up.

Later that day I took a drive with my wife and baby. With Ingress still running through my veins, I wanted more. We drove out to a few scenic locations, while I blew up a few links and fields. But while we were there we took in some of the sights.

That was a great way to close out the day.

Sunday morning I woke up with this little guy.

It was also my 29th birthday! Woo, getting older!

I had my coffee and Everett and I watched some Longmire on Netflix. I didn’t have much time because our first softball game was at 9am. I pitched both games and made a few really nice plays from the ‘mound.’ We won the first game easily beating them by 10 in the 5th inning. We had a one game wait before our next game, so we hung out and watched the other game.

The second game could have been very close, but we managed to keep our defense tight and our hitting average. We beat this team by 10 in the 6th, with a score of 20 to 10. So two convincing wins on the day, as well as decent weather. It did rain, for like, one inning then it stopped and got humid.

Later that day after I got all cleaned up, we headed out for my birthday dinner. Every year on our birthdays we get to pick where our family goes to eat. It is a nice tradition that has been going on for years now. I chose to go to the Forester. It is a small restaurant in the middle of nowhere. In the forest, go figure! Here is the little man in his flannel:

I ordered the Flat Iron, which is a 10oz. piece of beef, with a side of perogies and veggies. Before I could do anything about it, it was gone….

It was too good to not eat right when I got it. Afterwards we all went back to my parents house for ice cream cake! My niece Rory is pretty much interested in everything so here they are hangin out.

We also decked her out with my older brothers hat. It doesn’t quite fit but she kept it on longer than we thought she would.

That was a great way to round out the weekend. Once we got home it was pretty much straight to bed. I am still at work alone for the next two weeks, so we will see how this goes! Wish me luck.

I’ll be back again tomorrow, I hope to see you all then. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Busy & Look Ahead

Hey Everyone!

Today will be another quick post. I am starving still after eating my lunch, which isn’t good since I have four more hours to go! I am very busy today, and running all over the place.

Over the weekend we didn’t do too much. I know that Sunday we played our normal two softball games and won them both. We stayed a bit later and played another team who had a forfeit. We are nice guys like that haha. So we had three games.

Over this next weekend I won’t have any posts until Wednesday. I have Monday and Tuesday off from work, for the holiday! YAY!!!

I really can use the break. It will be nice to have some time. We have a wedding to go to this Saturday. Monday we have the fireworks for the 4th, and Tuesday we have a parade that will go through town. We always have a nice picnic at my parents house after. This year we will have 10+ people there all from around the area, mostly family. It is nice when we can all get together and have a nice relaxing day of food fun and yard games.

Looking ahead to July, I will be busy at work since my co-worker is going to rome for a month! Jeez that must be nice. πŸ˜€ I have an Ingress picnic with the group of people I play with one weekend, an Alumni fraternity party/meeting another weekend, and a work bee a different weekend to get ready for our family reunion in August! All of this on top of having softball on Sundays haha.

That’s about it for me today! I hope you all are enjoying your Tuesday, as I am! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I’ll see you again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Quick Post

Hey Everyone!

I didn’t really have anything planned for lunch today so I was unable to eat. It was more or less my choice, so it is my fault. I’m still hungry either way lol. I may have to sneak over to the gas station across the street if I get too hungry.

I am very close to a level 10 in the mobile game “Ingress.” If you haven’t played it or seen it and you like real world games give it a shot. I have a few things, game related, that I feel the need to do after work. I hope that it will give me enough to level up once I complete what I had set out to do.

Tonight is the viewing for my future sister-in-law’s grandfather. I was reading his obituary in the news paper this morning and was amazed by the thing e had seen and done in his life. He passed away at the age of 94 he was born in 1922. That means hes was a child during the Great Depression, and WWII. He received the Purple Heart during said war. He later founded a garbage collection company in the 40’s that still services the area to this day. He was a member of a Masonic Lodge in the area, and the Consistory. I want to say that t said he was a 60 year member of the VFW as well. He had many accomplishments and a growing family, with strong blood lines. He truly seemed to live a good long life. My wife and I will be going to that viewing around 7pm, when she gets home from work.

The rest of the night will be nothing special. I have been wanting to get back out to my camp site too. The weather is too unpredictable and I don’t want to make the fairly long trip if I won’t be able to make good progress on my site. Maybe if the forecast isn’t terrible I’ll go this weekend, instead of being cooped up inside.

I don’t have much more for today. So I won’t bore you with long drawn out ramblings. I hope you have a good Hump Day! I’ll see you back here tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Slight Jumble

Good Morning/Afternoon/Night to you all!

Yesterday was very hectic with all the phone calls I had to make. It makes me nervous to transfer everything into my name for the first time. This home buying stuff is pretty intimidating. I’ll admit the people and agencies you deal with can really help you relax once you know they have done this a million times. I am usually scared of the unknown to a certain extent and this is a huge unknown. I think in the end everything will work out just fine. I trust that all of the work I have put in will pay off and everything will be in order. That is about as optimistic as one could be. Again we are closing on the 21st, less than a week from now. I still have a few things I need to inquire about but other than that it will be ‘smooth’ sailing.

Today at work, has been like most other days. I have two PCs to finish up and disperse this week, like normal. We have some exciting work ahead of us. Tomorrow is the big day, we get a brand new server. This will our first time working with virtual servers so it should be confusing and interesting. Today we did pull out an old server to make room in our existing rack. Also to make room for the guy coming to help with the installation we cleared out 10 + PCs for recycling. The only other real thing I want to get done today at work is to call the bank about home stuff. So, overall pretty chill.

My wife will be home a bit later than normal so I’ll pop in a pizza to move dinner along. I’ll get home and do the usual, feed the dog, cat, and humans lol. With any luck I’ll get a few rainbow 6 games in as well. Tonight the Flash is on the CW so we will be tuning into that at 8 pm Eastern Standard Time. Again pretty normal overall. We are mainly worried and anxious to get moving and hope that everything falls into place. Our biggest concern is getting a new refrigerator and putting up a fence asap for our dog.

Scattered move here, but I have been making pretty good headway on my Sojourner badge in Ingress. It is one of the hardest to get. You have to hack any one portal in consecutive 24 hour time periods. I am up to about 127 ish days. The next check point is 180 for Platinum, followed by 360 for Onyx. It is hardest to remember on the weekends when you just want to sleep in or go on a day trip. You really have to keep up on it and remember to hack with in the 24 hour time frame. I try to hack in the morning and evening just to get a good all around hack session going. That will allow me to hack anytime during the day on weekends and be just fine.

That’s all I’ll bore you with today! Have a great Tuesday and I’ll see you back here again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Short Day!

Hey There!

The title is a bit misleading. I don’t have any shorter of a day, I just started earlier. I came in to work at 6 this morning rather than 8. So I’ll be out of here by 2:30pm woo! That being said I don’t have a ton of time to push out a large post.

I just saw on my Ingress scanner that an Enlightened agent is currently taking out all our portals in town. So first thing first, I’m leaving work and cleaning up his mess. Once I get home I’ll pull something out of the freezer to get ready for dinner. Next I’ll get into some comfy clothes, since its cold and rainy here today, and play a few games.

My friend told me to download Heroes of the Storm, so I did that last night. I’ll be giving that a whirl tonight. We will then venture on to playing a few games of Rainbow 6: Siege. Side note, I didn’t know that the “Operators” in that game came with a full backstory. Its great to see companies really taking the time to make a complete experience in a game.

Friday night after work my wife and I are going to check out, yest another house. This set up will be a bit different as it is for sale by owner. I really hope we find something soon. I swear we have seen every house in the area, and yet nothing that would be practical. I still have hope and we have a pre-approval until the end of November. That hope will stay with me as long as I feel like we won’t run out of time, since I really don’t want to apply for a pre-approval again. With the winter months coming though it gets scary because a lot of people stop selling until spring and my god we don’t want that.

Over this weekend my weird family will celebrate Christmas with my grandparents since they travel to Florida for the winter months. It is very weird but nice to see everyone and celebrate a holiday like Christmas early. My wife and I will spend the night out that way because we have a baby shower that next day for her brother and his wife. They are due in November.

Let me know what plans you have for this weekend, I’d love to see what everyone is up to.

Until tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Welcome Back

Hey Everyone!

Sooo a little embarrassing, but I forgot it was even Labor Day weekend until about one hour before I left work on Friday. I mean, don’t get me wrong I was a big fan of finding this out, but I should have known. Partly because I have a huge calendar on my desk lol.

Anyway, as you know I had my last softball tournament of the season on Saturday. We came in 3rd place this year in the annual one pitch tournament. We ended up playing five games that day, so we were hot and tired. Over all it was a fun day, of course there was some controversy over the rules. This tournament has always been known as the tournament that seems to be thrown together in a weekend. No one is organized and the bracket changes two or three times the day of the tournament. The umpires don’t know the rules, even though they are there every year. It is a really weird tournament. Trust me on that, it’s hard to explain. Again, it was fun though.

Sunday I was pretty spent. My wife and I took our dog down town for the first time. We walked around town and played Ingress for a couple hours. It was another nice day, so we weren’t going to waste it. Later that night my brother and his fiance came over and we all ordered Chinese and hung out.

That brings me to Labor Day. We didn’t have much of a plan that day, but we did know we had a cookout at 1pm. In the morning we slept in a it. Once we got up we did some house work and got caught up on all the stuff we didn’t do the rest of the weekend. My brother and dad went to his land. I was going to go but My body still hurt from softball, and I didn’t want to wake up dragging today for work. We had a nice time in my parents backyard all afternoon. After we ate we took the dogs to the creek. My dog cannot be trusted to stay in one area so she needs to e on a leash. I wanted to try something different to give her an opportunity to feel like she was running free even though she wasn’t. We tied a 50+ ft rope to her harness and let her run and swim all over the creek. She was able to play with my brother’s Great Dane and not even feel like she was restricted. By the way she is a Norwegian Elk-hound. (This picture is two years old but she looks the same)

On a different note I will soon be getting a hold of my wife to see if the bank sent the preapproval letter for a house. We are looking to see how much we can afford. Last night we made up a mock budget using existing Excel templates. We over estimated the cost of all the bills to really give us a safe idea of what we can afford for a mortgage. We hope to be in a house before the end of the year, fingers crossed.

That is all for my weekend, I hope you all had a great one! I’ll see you tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Ingress Badge & Webpage

Hello Everyone!

I don’t have much to say today. To be honest my head is in another place right now, and It is already hard to focus on this haha.

Ingress has a recruiter badge, that requires you to get at least two new players to join. You send out requests via email to friends or family. They then go to the link in their email and download the game. They play the game and to my understanding they have to reach level three before it counts towards your badge. This is all well and good so far. I have my brother and my wife signed up. I have been working with my wife and she is now a level three. I was excited to see the progress on my badge, but to my surprise even a week later, nothing. It will generally show you that you have one if you did. I know I went through the process correctly so I’m very confused. Every other badge updates just fine.Β  I will soon be working with my brother to get him to that level as well, but I want to know that my hard work will pay off. Hmmm…I don’t know, I’m just thinking out loud at this point. I hope it works.

Now to what really has my attention at the moment, a webpage. Not just a quick free page that you can point and click to set up but a real one that I will be coding in HTML. I have been practicing here at work and looking at tutorials. I will go home and make one for real on my server. I think I will just make it for my PC repair business, but I’m not 100% on that. I want to make it really nice and have full functionality. I will have to sign up for some sort of FTP client to pull my files from my server to what ever free sight maker I choose. I found a really good tutorial that walks you through the basics very well. It is linked right here: . This guy, Tinkernut, has really good content on mainly tech related tricks. I recommend giving him a like and subscribe on YouTube. So that will consume the rest of my day.

Lastly I was just informed by my wife that we will be going to get ice cream when she comes home, because she has an addiction lol.

Have a great Tuesday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend Update

Hey everyone! I have to apologize I didn’t get around to posting yesterday. I Got really busy at work and wasn’t able to free up enough time.

Friday I was an extra hitter on my brothers co-ed softball team. they needed me to be in at least two regular season games, that way I could play in their end of season tournament. Since it was Friday night we played at 9pm under the lights of one of the three fields. That was all well and good until in the top of the second inning all the lights went out. It got very dark very quickly. We had to wait for a good half hour for the breaker to cool down and be switched back on. We thought we would have to reschedule, but right as we were about to pack up the lights kicked on. We finished the game with a win and that was that. It took longer than normal due to the delay. My wife and I had to be up the next morning at 6am to go back to our college town.

That next morning we were up early. Once we got to the college, I dropped her off to take her comprehensive exam for her Masters program. She then had a meeting with her internship professor, that would last until about 4pm. I on the other hand had a Theta Chi Fraternity meeting at 11am. I am the Secretary of our alumni chapter, and had to be there to jot down the minutes. I had about three hours to kill before the meeting and about 4 hours after. I decided to take the whole campus and more over in Ingress.13754464_10209673614052848_6225551991784551813_n13645317_10209673982902069_621879887825222453_n

The Photos above are as follows: 1st is my campus and all of the portals located on it. I capped them all and fully deployed. I then linked around the whole campus. The 2nd is the larger field I threw over it all for another layer. I know that it uses one of the same corners, and that is because as you can see, some jag off had thrown a bad link at the top right. I didn’t see it in time and didn’t want to Jarvis everything I already did.

On top of that I added two larger fields later above campus. I went to very uneventful meeting and stayed there as long as I had to. I love my fraternity and all but since the active members got their charter revoked the meeting lacks in attendance and the alumni don’t do much. I was easily the youngest person there by 25 years. After my meeting I met up with my little from the fraternity. He was at work at the local beer distributor. I hung out with him the rest of the time before I got the call that my wife was done.

We went home and rested the rest of the day since we woke up early ad stayed up late the night before. The next morning we had a double hearer softball day. We had a game at 11:30am and then a game wait before the next one at 2pm. The first game went well, we were in the lead for most of the game. Somehow we lost the lead late in the game and in the very last inning I drove in the winning run to take the victory.Β  The second game was the worst one we have played all year. We lost by 12 run in the fifth inning. We had too many errors to count and screwed everything up. It was like our team had never played ball before. Oh well, we the end of season tournament coming up so we will make a good day o two of that.

Yesterday I got really busy with work and then after my wife and I went and looked at a couple houses with a realtor. I really liked the one I’m just not sure if we could get the right amount of money in a loan. I would hope we could but my school debt would be a huge factor, as well as my wife not having a full time job since she is stil in school until August. Anyway that is all for today, again I’m sorry I couldn’t squeeze in a post yesterday. It just wasn’t in the cards.

Have a great Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
