Around The Water Cooler!

Hey Everyone!

Its Friday! Thank goodness, I’m ready for the weekend. I never got around to cutting the grass last night, so I’ll have to do that tonight.

Another thing I’m going to to tonight is go hit a bucket of golf balls with my co-worker. He wanted to anyway and since I’m play tomorrow as well he invited me along. I can use all of the help I can get.  😀

Everett is obsessed with putting things away, and in containers lately. It is really kind of helpful and funny at the same time. For instance, he will walk over and put his dirty diaper in the correct trash bin, all we have to do is open and close it. He will also hold and put the dog food scooper back in the food bin when I am done feeding the dog. On the other hand he stacks his food on his sippy cups, and puts his shoes in the cabinets.

1

So either way its awesome! He cracks us up every single day.

He has just, in the last couple of days started to spin. You know how most babies will kind of waddle around in a large circle to turn around or just fall down and twist around? He was doing that too, but has now found enough balance to spin right around. He does it constantly and gets dizzy half the time. It makes him laugh to turn that fast.

Today I got a text from my wife about Everett being Everett. He is all over and into everything. Today she caught him crawling up and standing on his train.

2

For what reason? I have no idea, probably just to see if he could. He is at the stage where he will be climbing on everything and getting up the stairs and everything. He is more mobile everyday. We have a second room in our attic that we want to turn into a library of sorts, and my wife had the idea to turn it into a play area for him. While she is working in the other room he can be in there playing with free reign to go between the two rooms. All we need it to clean that room up a bit and get a gate for the top of the stairs and we would be in business. I really wish I had the money now to get a contractor in there and build those book shelves. Oh well, some day I hope. 😀

That is it for me today! I’ll be golfing tomorrow, and being lazy Sunday! I hope you have a great weekend, and I’ll see you all again Monday! 😀 😀

Birthday Girl! (&Some Work Stuff)

Hey Everyone!

It was one of those days again, yesterday. It was a fairly calm day until just before lunch.

My co-worker called me up and needed me to bring him a tool. He was in our other shop location, and was sick of driving back and forth. He offered to buy me lunch, so of course I was in! 😀 That is why I wasn’t able to post yesterday. I was helping him gt the WiFi up and running at our other location. It took about an hour, then we stopped off and grabbed a sub from the local gas station that makes them pretty well. I picked up a weird taco sub, with Doritos, and your general taco stuff. It was really good! That busy momentum from before carried all the way through the afternoon.

If we go back a bit further, it was my wife’s birthday yesterday! I got up ad made her a breakfast sandwich, with some strawberries, and an iced coffee. I was able to fix Everett some breakfast too, taking some of the load off of her. She and Everett have been getting up later since she starts work later now, so she has been getting stuck making her own breakfast most days.

I ordered her a camera bag that she has wanted for some time. It was on back order for ever and still won’t ship out until the 31st but it is worth the wait. I let her know she had that coming and now she is super excited and can’t wait to receive it.

If you would like to take a look around that small shop click the link: Here!

After work let out, and my wife finished up working as well we got ready to go out for dinner. I let her pick where she wanted to go and she decided on the local Taco Hut! They have some of the best ‘south of the border’ food around us. My wife got some Fajitas, I got the steak tacos, and we split a nacho buffet! 😀

31.jpg

Everett picked off of our plates. He really seemed to like the beans more than anything, but also had rice and chips as you can see from his chin haha. 😀 😀 That rounded out our day and we just spent the night watching New Girl re-runs and lounging.

Today, so far is a terrible day for the terminals in our shop. I came in to three of them not working correctly and have only been able to get 1 back online. I took a break from them to write this because they are driving me nuts.

These are the two models that have been failing hard lately. They are both about 20+ years old and need to be thrown out, but until we upgrade the whole thing they need to work. If you don’t already know 20 year old technology is not something you want incorporated in your modern business haha. 😀

that is all for me today! I hope you have a great hum day and I’ll be back again tomorrow! (as long as nothing drags me away again) 😀 😀

Around the Water Cooler!

Hey Everyone!

Yesterday was a sorry, not sorry day haha. I was invited to go to our other building, by a co-worker to have pizza ate lunch. That is something I couldn’t pass up! 😀 I wasn’t able to post because of it though. 😦

I’m back now though, and the good thing about being around a water cooler vs. coffee talk is that you can have it any time of day haha. So here we are!

Some what of a project summary for me right now would be a few things. I have been roped in to helping a local nursing home extend their network with my co-worker. We went there last night to get the lay of the land. I have spent some time today gathering a list of items that they would want to get as upgrades, as well as drew up their current and proposed network in some free software. If everything gets agreed upon we could be in there getting that project done in a month.

The gas plant project is coming along slowly. I have been ready for a week to do some work for them, and they are in the process of making me a key like I said in an earlier post. I think I have everything I need to map the segment of the network I’d be in and address the gas chromatographer.I really hate that word, it’s to large and complicated haha. Here is the little guy causing all of the issues at that plant:

Here at work we are working on starting out huge ERP upgrade. We are talking a couple milion dollars here. We will be upgrading our current system in its entirety. We are going from a company we have used for over 30 years to a completely different one. It will involve our 4 man department a ton, and will probably take a couple years to implement fully. Yikes! :S

In personal life, I hope to mow the grass tonight. My wife’s friends are coming tomorrow to spend the day and go to the county fair. In the morning tomorrow I’ll be helping build the cabin a bit, I hope to get a few pictures to keep you all updated on that progress as well. 😀

That is it for me today! I hope you all have a great weekend, and I hope to see you back on Monday! 😀 😀

Weird News Wednesday!

Hey Everyone!

Lets try this haha.

One student was credited with saving a squirrel’s life thanks to the hit show “The Office.”

index.jpg

There is a scene in one episode where they brought in a CPR trainer, to try and teach the people of the office, well CPR. She was using the stereotypical “Stayin Alive” song we all know and love haha. Natalie Belsito, a Central Michigan University student, saw the squirrel drowning in a pond. She saw it being slow to move and saw its head dipping under the water frequently. With the help of another person she was able to get the squirrel out of the pond. It is then that she noticed that it wasn’t breathing! She admitted to not really knowing CPR, but did remember the episode from “The Office.” She was quoted saying “I was literally signing that song as I tried to do it.”

Once the squirrel was breathing again she nursed it back to health in her room. Once she thought it was ready to be released that is exactly what she did. She, along with her group of friends, released it back into the wild campus! haha. Her twitter video captured it all.

In even more amazing news the Actor, Robin Lynch, who played Rose (the CPR Trainer) on “The Office” caught wind of this and Tweeted out to her. She congratulated her on saving the life of the squirrel. How amazing is that?

There, that is some nice pick me up news for ya! I hope this post has brightened your day, I know it brightened mine. 😀 😀

I’ll be back again tomorrow, I hope to see you then! 😀 😀

Discover The Dinosaurs!

Hey Everyone!

I have been keeping very busy at work, which is a great thing. It makes my entire day go by so fast! I am already ready for the weekend haha. I have been working some more on the UPS upgrades at work and even created a nice spreadsheet to present my work when the time comes. I have also been working closely with a company in Florida, to repair and replace our IBM terminals in the shop. They are old and have to be, to work with our somewhat dated system. Lastly I have finally placed my April order to replace workstation PCs, and even got some monitors and battery backups! 😀 I kinda squeeze those things in sometime for stock purposes. If someone needs something I try my best to have it.

Speaking of the weekend a bit ago, our Saturday just went from fairly dull to something I am looking forward to. My wife has a baby shower in the morning for one of her friends so I’ll travel with her to that and just kinda hang out. Afterwards, I just bought tickets to “Discover The Dinosaurs: Time Trek” It will be at a local convention center. I’m not sure Everett will ever remember such a thing, but it fills the time gap that we have.

DinoEblast.jpg

Here is the write up for the event:

At Discover the Dinosaurs: Time Trek, you’ll be transported through our special Time Lab where you can observe enormous prehistoric dinosaurs and glimpse at mythological, magical dragons. This experience is all about hands-on family fun! Kids will love the larger-than-life creatures, and activities like Design-a-Dino, Prehistoric Poop, or the Race Through Time Labyrinth will keep everyone entertained. Families can compete in the Cretaceous Challenge Zone, visit the Time Trek Theater to meet baby dinosaurs, and test their dino-knowledge in our family and individual trivia contests.

PLUS at our Dragon Edition events, we’ve incorporated famous dragons and lore from three very distinct cultures – dragon legends are thought to have started with the discovery of unknown dinosaur fossils!”

I think it will be pretty neat. I’m not really going in with any expectations, so i can’t really be disappointed haha. I’ll be sure to take some pictures and show you all what it was like.

After that fun, my wife scheduled a photo shoot with a couple. We will meet them at the desired upon location around 6:30pm and then travel home. So you can see we really packed that day with plenty to see and do.

On another note I was please to receive a phone call from the garage door people, telling me that they came to my house and fixed my door! I’ll get the bill in the mail, but they fixed it! It hasn’t worked since we moved in over a year ago, and I just got around to having it fixed. I have been picking it up and putting it down this whole time for my wife. It will be amazing to click a button and have it actually work haha. they changed out the gear box and attached the missing arm that connects the motor to the door. They were going to go back and apply weather stripping to the sides to eliminate the gaps on the sides. I’m not sure I have ever been this excited about a garage that I don’t even get to park in. 😀 😀

That is all for me today, I hope you enjoyed the post. I’ll be back again tomorrow, I hope to see you then! 😀 😀

Quick Post!

Hey Everyone!

Today is Valentines Day, and my post will…not really be about it haha.

My wife and I have no plans, I got her flowers and that is about it. We will spend the night together at home with our boy and that will be enough. 😀

This boy:

signal-2018-02-13-202304.jpg

Last night we went and got groceries after work. That is where that picture was taken. We had some homemade chicken quesadillas for dinner and watched the gold medal mixed doubles curling game. Over all it was a good time. My wife made brownies, which doesn’t help either of us stay or get healthy haha, but they are good! 😀

We are about to have a Valentines Day luncheon at work so I am trying to get this post out a bit quicker than normal. We have homemade lasagna, as well as some snacks and other goodies.

In other news, I have found a couple jobs in the area we are looking to move to. I am scared to apply because that will make it all real to me. Real that I would have to leave my current job. Real that we would be up rooting our life. Real that we would be putting a house down and selling ours. Don’t get me wrong, I think it would be the best for us, it is just going to have a few awful things involved and a few very stressful months. Timing is still key. If I apply and get a job there I’ll have to leave and live with her grandparents until our house sells and the new house is in. If I get a job late, then I’ll have to stay put while they move out, if our house has sold. Its all really crazy and it isn’t very easy. More to come on this later, I’m sure.

That is all for me today, I hope you have a nice Valentines Day, and I’ll see you all again tomorrow! 😀 😀

Will You Be Following The Olympics?

Hey Everyone!

The winter Olympics are upon us! the coverage starts on the 8th (Tomorrow). The opening ceremony is on the 9th, those are always really cool to watch. These countries go all out.

There is some tension this year, like most years. This year may be a little more tense, with North Korea teaming up with their southern sister. This of course because of the looming Nuclear war, they may want to start. Also the Russians have been banned from this years winter Olympics, for doping the year before. Some Russian athletes are able to compete under a neutral flag, which is nice, since the actions of a few ruined it for the whole county. People spend their whole lives training to go to these games and compete for their country and now some of those people will not be able to do so. So yes some tensions will run a bit high this year, but I am hoping for the best. I want there to be nothing but good times at the games.

Here is a quick little schedule for the games.

Untitled

If that is too hard to see you can check the schedule here.

I am a big fan of the freestyle skiing and snowboarding, curling, and biathlons. I’ll try to watch those if time permits. I really don’t worry about skating or luges.

What are some our your favorites? Do you watch the winter Olympics at all? Let me know in the comments below! 😀 😀

Tuesday, Waiting For Spring!

Hey Everyone!

Again my little boy is home with his mom this week. So I am getting pictures from home, making me just want to leave work haha.

f

You can really see the intense drooling going on!

a

He is getting bigger each day and starting to look more and more like a little boy than a baby. Soon he will be walking, talking, and getting into everything. Seems crazy.

My wife told me just a little bit ago that our nice neighbor shoveled our sidewalk today. I usually run the snowblower down his walkway and shovel out his end of the drive way as well. That is a nice give and take, just to be supportive neighbors. We rarely run into each other but when I see him again I’ll have to thank him for helping out.

I’m about over snow already. I know it seems too early to be bowing out but I have so many more things I want to be doing. I haven’ owned a home before and have never had projects that I needed to complete. Now, I do! I can’t wait for the weather to get better to continue on everything I didn’t complete before winter. I need to wash the garage as well as finish it, and stain the fence and fix it a bit. Little touches of paint are also needed on the back deck, its red and we aren’t a fan but it is chipping a bit. With Everett being bigger now I can’ t wait to take him to camp and work on the cabin again, and take him out to the Kinzua dam, and the local play grounds. Oh well, I guess it will happen soon enough. I’ll wait a little longer.

That is all for me today. I hope you have a great Tuesday, and I’ll see you all again tomorrow! 😀 😀

Nice Night To Go To The Dam!

Hey Everyone!

I was planning on going home after work and just cutting the grass. Sounds pretty boring right? My wife called me just before I left and asked what I was doing after work. She suggested that we go for a walk at the Kinzua Dam. I told her that I wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to do something with our family for cutting the grass haha.

Once I picked him up from daycare and got home, we got him ready to go!

20171010_164538

It is a little hard to get a picture of a baby that keeps moving, my apologizes haha.

We took off and made our way there. We went to a spot that wasn’t as much hiking, but rather a leisurely walk with some pre-made stairs and what not.

20171010_172318

Once you get closer to an overlook you can see the reservoir beyond the trees.

20171010_172432

Lastly you are greeted with this amazing view! This is a beautiful place anytime of the year. It is always worth a visit. We come here as often as we can, when we remember to actually do it lol.

20171010_172528

Of course with any small day trip you need a few family photos. It was very bright, as you will see. It was clear and sunny.

20171010_173347

We tried again back in the woods to get away from the direct sun light and we managed to get him to look and not cry haha. That is a win win if I’ve ever seen one.

20171010_174854

I love my little family and taking trips like this. They are the most important things in my life and I would be lost without them. The trip was great and was a much better way to spend the evening. 😀

Tonight I have a Masonic 3rd degree. It will take most of the evening and be late. It is the longest degree and the last degree to become a Master Mason. It will be fun, we are hoping a few of the NY guys come down to see it done our way.

This weekend it our Alumni homecoming and we will be going back for the festivities and to see friends. I’ll keep you posted! I hope you have enjoyed today’s post and I’ll see you all tomorrow! 😀 😀

What A Fun Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was a blast. I mean nothing crazy happened, but it was an all around good time. It really started on Saturday. My wife left in the morning to get her hair done for the first time since having the baby. It was something she really wanted to get done, so I’m glad I was able to watch Everett while she did that.

Once she got home, I packed my stuff and headed to camp. Before I left I stopped at a place that over looks most of my whole city. I had a nice panorama, but it looked weird when I threw it on here.

20171007_105146

Once I got to camp I helped my brother and dad, who got there before me. We brought wood and supplies to the site. Here are the 4″ pieces that we used to cover the cracks of the other boards.

20171007_130105

When we were on the last board, we had to notch it. This was to ensure that it would fit around a stud. I was notching it out with a hand saw when it jumped up off the board and sliced my thumb. It was pretty bad but I got it wrapped up quickly.

20171007_135411

It is a bit hard to do most things with your thumb covered like this haha. I had a glove over it so I would not get dirt and stuff in it. Plus, I was staying the night so I was going to be there a long time.

Anyway, with that set back out of the way we were able to get the pieces up!

20171007_142054

Since we had more boards from the last time, we started work on one of the ends. It gets the most weather so we wanted to cover it up a bit. We are going to, possibly slat shingle the peaks, and cover the cracks with more 4′” boards like the front.

20171007_171443

A couple of my brother’s friends showed up as well as my older brother. They hung around most of the day. But after a while I was getting hungry for that juicy steak I told you all I would get. I threw it down on our grill over some hot coals and let it ride.

20171007_180928

While that was cooking up nicely, my brother’s friend Ben made me a drink. Stick with me as I explain what’s in it. He mixed bourbon and blueberry preserves in an empty water bottle. Once it was shaken together he poured it through a strainer and into my cup. Similarly, he mixed lemonade and club soda and poured that in too. To finish it off he squeezed a lemon in there and here is what we have!

20171007_181602

It was really dang good. I had a couple of those and enjoyed my steak.

20171007_183132

Once everyone left I hung out by the fire until it got dark. I threw a few more logs on because I wanted coals for breakfast.I decided to just roll my sleeping bag out in the cabin and stay there for the night. It looked creepy but it was better than a tent!

20171007_201634

With my head lamp on I started into my new book! I only got a few chapters in before I turned in for the night.

20171007_202237

I’m pretty glad I slept in the cabin because it rained pretty hard that night. Which did ruin my breakfast plans. I had no coals and with the clouds over head it stayed dark longer than I had hoped. When I woke up I packed my things and just headed home. You can see below what it was like on my way out.

20171008_071108

I stopped off to get pop tarts for breakfast and brought them home for my wife. It is a craving she has somewhat often so I figured it was a good choice. We ran around Sunday and got groceries, as well as cleaned up around the house. My mother in-law came down and wanted to spend some time with Everett. That gave me some time to play a few video games. I checked the mail later and was pleased to find two pieces of mail from real people haha. First a card from my great aunt Arlene. It was a “First Halloween” card fro our son.

20171008_132306

The second was a nice thank you from my brother and his wife.

20171008_132440

We closed out the weekend with some Netflix and ice cream. Sounds good huh?

That is all for me. It was a fun weekend and I’m glad I got some time in the woods! I’ll be back tomorrow, see you then! 😀 😀
