Tuesday!

Hey Everyone!

We are back after a long holiday weekend. I can’t say that I’m happy to come back to work but it is time to get going with everything.

Saturday we installed a couple of air conditioners for the second floor and attic. Later that evening my wife had a photo shoot. A girl that I went to college with and worked with for a while came down from about an hour and a half away to get her pictures taken. It was a couple field settings, in the late evening. They turned out great, from what I can tell! πŸ˜€ I was watching Everett while the whole thing was going on.

3

He was having a pretty good time in the weeds. The girl who came down had her son with her for the shoot, and the two of them got to interact a little bit which was nice.

Sunday we did indeed go to the cabin. My dad, brother, cousin, and brother’s friend came out for helping purposes. My wife, mother, and son came for the outdoors. Everett was only there with my wife for a little bit because it was calling for thunderstorms. It did rain for a bit but that was about it, so I was sad to see them go over that. Everett fell in the dirt a few times and didn’t really like that. Here he is with me in the cabin. πŸ˜€

1

My dad is seen here cutting another sheet of plywood for the ceiling. They were able to put up another four sheets.

2

My cousin and I took the four wheeler and went up and down the hill clearing the debris along the way.

4

We were able to get five or so trees cut and out of the way as well as maintain some other trails. We came back and hung out for about two hours around the campfire, it was a really nice day.

Monday was a bit rough for me personally because nothing was going my way. We went and got a gate for the attic to allow Everett to have a play room on the other side, and it is the worst gate I have ever seen. It didn’t help that the studs were impossible to find in the wall. I also bought expanding foam to fill the cracks in the other room to keep the bugs out. That is all well and good except the one main gap was way too big and now I need to cut all the foam to look good. It is hot up there and it was a huge pain in the ass. Some of it made its way onto the floor, which was about impossible to get off.Β  After that crap that took way too long, I gave up on the day. I played video games, ate bad food, and made no further progress haha. πŸ˜€ After that the rest of the night went OK after that.

That brings us to the lazy Tuesday. I don’t have much going on today and hope it stays that way. I really don’t feel like doing much. I did get a hold of a retired electrician to come look at my lights, I just have to find a date and time that works for us. If I can get the light in and the house looking back to normal I’ll be OK again.

That is it for me! I hope you have a great Labor Day weekend! I’ll see you again tomorrow!

Industrial Softball Tournament!

Hey Everyone!

This was a great weekend, spent with family down at the ball park. We started off Friday night with a game at 8:30pm. We won that game by one point, keeping us in the winners bracket for the next day.

Saturday we started bright and early with a game at 9:15am. We promptly lost that game in the wet conditions, and weren’t feeling the best at that point. The next game couldn’t have been a more fun match up, because we played our other company team! We beat them pretty convincingly, but it was fun all the same. Now up until this point I hadn’t hit the ball very well. I was 3 for 11, which is terrible for me. I was in my own head and needed to snap out of that. Everett was my official bat boy all weekend!

312

He really wouldn’t let that thing go haha. Later Saturday we played one last team. We beat them by 26 points and we were ready to play again Sunday morning. I hit really well that game and the rest of the tournament. What was interesting, was that my brother’s team lost and now had to play us in that game. We got there and the nerves were there. I knew their team was good, and I knew we had to hit well to win. In short we did. We won the game by a few runs, and secured a 3rd place finish.

Next on the agenda was the team that beat us before. We again had to show up and play the way we did the two games before. We did fall short yet again and lost to the same team twice. :/ we really wanted to beat these guys and didn’t get to. It just wasn’t happening, we had too many mistakes in the field and gave up too many runs. As far as my hitting went the last three games I went 11 for 11 with three home runs. That brings my overall stats for the weekend at 14 for 22 with three home runs. That is much better than what it was looking like at the start. We did spend the rest of the day watching that team lose terribly to the team that won it all, and that was fun! πŸ˜€Β  Everett was just chilling in his cousins little chair.

67

Watching the games and having a bottle haha. πŸ˜€

We finally got together and had a family picture. My brother changed his shirt to root for us when he got back to the fields. My dad was on the other company team, and Everett and I.

5

And finally, my main man and I holding the third place trophy! πŸ˜€

4

That was a great way to spend the weekend. It was full of family fun, and great food. There were highs and lows but at the end of the weekend we were all proud of what we accomplished. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Great Surprise & Happy Birthday To Me!

Hey Everyone!

I was sitting at work Friday trying to figure out if I wanted to even try to cut the grass in the heat after work. When out of no where I receive a text from my brother. About four weeks early, my new niece Bridget Jo was coming into this world! We all now assume that the due date was a bit off as she is of a normal height and weight. She was 6lb 13.3oz and was 18.5in long. She was born at 2pm on the dot, Friday the 13th! My plans to cut the grass took a back seat, to visiting them in the hospital.

54132

Everything went well from what we know and we look forward to watching her grow, like her sister!

I must admit I have more pictures for this post, from this weekend. Do you think for a second that I could transfer them from my phone to my PC when I needed them? NOPE, me either! haha If they come though I’ll post them. As I was typing this those first set of pictures came through, but none of the other ones. Darn computers! πŸ˜€

So as you can tel our Friday was exciting! Saturday was busy. We headed out to a local park near my wife’s family, for her family reunion. Her uncles were back in town and we wanted to see everyone. Everett had a great time on the playground. Afterwards we stopped in to see her dad, and his family. We don’t make it out to see them as long as we want to so I think we are trying to plan a weekend just for them in the near future. Once that was said and done, we headed to yet another party. My cousins co-ed bridal shower. It was also at a nice park, with games and volleyball. They had a silent little aution that was put together by the wedding party, as well as a somewhat catered bbq for dinner. It was pretty freakin delicious! πŸ˜€

Sunday, my brother and I woke up and had a double header in our slow pitch softball league. If you can remember back a bit, I have been telling them that I’m the reason we have been winning, since the only two weekends we have lost were the two I missed being in Colorado. I’m glad to say that I will be saying that heading into the end of season tournament in two weeks, because we won them both again. This year out of 17 teams we are 4th with a record of 12 and 4 I believe. We were 2 in 4 after the 3rd week, but have won the last 5 weekends in a row! We will be seeded in the ‘A’ league for the tournament and hope to do as well as we can. If it stays as hot as its been I’m ok with only playing a few games haha. After our games we stopped at my brother’s house to have a nice family lunch for my birthday.

That brings us to today, by actual birthday! Woo and Nooo, all at once. I am the big 30 this year. It is bitter sweet. I think this is about the age where as a younger boy I thought that was the age of old people haha. Something about it makes it a bit sad. The rest of me is fine with it. I know I have a somewhat older than myself audience, and by no means am I trying to say that I am ‘old’, but I think this is a milestone year for most where they feel a little more divided from the younger generations. Just a day ago I could play ball with a 19 year old and it seemed pretty normal, all of a sudden its a teen and a 30 year old man haha. I’m not really too bothered by it. πŸ˜€ My wife and son will go have a nice dinner tonight to celebrate. I didn’t really want a party of any kind so we are keeping it quiet tonight. Just the fact that our family is growing and I got to see everyone is A OK with me! πŸ˜€

P.S. Totally unrelated, I put in the last damn piece to that crazy UPS project this morning. I have had to wait and wait and wait to do this thing and I did it! Everything is looking good and I’m going to wash my hands of it all haha.

That is all for me today! I hope you have a great day today, because it is my birthday! πŸ˜€ I’ll be back again tomorrow, and I hope to see you all then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

I’m Back!

Hey Everyone!

I have been gone for a week and it feels like an eternity!

I’m really not even sure where to start, or what you guys want to see? For those of you who may not know, my little family and I drove from Pennsylvania to Colorado last weekend. We drove back this weekend. It is a 22 hour drive and took us two days each way. We were able to stop along the way in/around Des Monies Iowa to rest for the night both ways.

While we were in Colorado we stayed in Aurora. It was mainly on two major highways and that was that. What was nice was that we could go North or South at our leisure. We bounced around from Boulder to Colorado Springs, to Denver. Depending of the weather that day and the family that we could meet up with.

The first full day we were there it was rainy and crappy so we went to the Morrison Natural History Museu.

20180528_174032.jpg

This place was really neat, they had real live dino nerds give you a tour of everything. Most things there were found right in Colorado. While we were on our tour there was a giant storm and some hail. Thank goodness we were inside!

20180528_184842.jpg

The next day we headed to Colorado Springs where we took a trolley though Garden of the Gods, and drove up the over 14,000 ft Pikes Peak!

20180529_175150.jpg20180529_183026.jpg

It was pretty exhilerating driving up Pikes Peak. Once we were at the top we did feel dizzy due to the altitude, but we snagged some great pictures while we could. We also had some fresh doughnuts while we were up there.

I believe Wednesday we took the whole day and went to the Denver Zoo! It was so much fun. Everett had never been to a zoo before, and this one and the other are both on the top 10 best zoos in America.

This zoo was really cool and freaking huge! We ended it with a Peacock and ice cream. If you are wondering what his shirt says its: “I flexed so hard the sleeves came off” haha. πŸ˜€

Lets see….hmmm.. what did we do Thursday? Ah that’s right. We went to the Pearlt Street Mall in Boulder! It was about 5 city blocks of a walking mall. The weather was great and we did some shopping. πŸ˜€

20180531_14002520180531_13593720180531_135950

This place was beautiful and full of people and neat shops. πŸ˜€

20180531_141730

My personal favorite spot was this store that was dedicated to honey! They had all sorts of kinds to try, and even sold Meade.

Everett was not a fan of these water things haha. he didn’t make a single face other than that one haha. πŸ˜€ Later that day we met up with my wife’s uncle for dinner in Longmont.

Friday we met up with my cousin in Colorado Springs, where she cooked us an amazing breakfast. We hung out there with her and her three little kiddos for a bit before heading to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo! You guessed it! It is on a mountain.

20180601_133639

At the zoo they donate $0.75 per each visitor to help wildlife. We got to drop them in this thing to pick and choose the cause we helped. It is a great idea.

20180601_142612

These misters should be in every zoo haha. They saved the day! πŸ˜€

I had to take a selfie with a Giraffe, we were able to feed and pet them so we became friends fast. πŸ˜€

The whole week we had great food! We ate all over and never the same place twice. Most places we had never been to before. We ate at a steakhouse, IHOP, Bean Sprouts, BJs brewery, EdelweissΒ  (German), At both zoos, Bent Fork, Boulder Beer, and lastly a Joe’s Crab Shack.

Food Overload Below!

We Started the drive home Saturday a bit late on purpose, because part way through we met up with another photographer from a Facebook group that my wife is in. She and this other girl swapped family photo sessions. It was really neat. We met them in some park in Omaha Nebraska. We changed into nice clothes in the parking lot haha. I don’t have any of those pictures yet because neither of them have edited them yet, but I’ll share when I have a chance too! πŸ˜€

We stopped in Atlantic Iowa for the night, around 9:30pm. We only got to ‘sleep’ for a couple hours before Everett was screaming his head off, so we left Sunday morning around 3:45am….We drove until we got home around 7:30pm. That was a long day, I’m sure you could guess haha. We made it. It was a blast. We will cherish those memories forever!

Thank you for reading though this huge post. I’m still super tired and surprised I made it into work today! I hope to see you all again tomorrow! (I’ve missed you) πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Quick Post!

Hey Everyone!

Today is Valentines Day, and my post will…not really be about it haha.

My wife and I have no plans, I got her flowers and that is about it. We will spend the night together at home with our boy and that will be enough. πŸ˜€

This boy:

signal-2018-02-13-202304.jpg

Last night we went and got groceries after work. That is where that picture was taken. We had some homemade chicken quesadillas for dinner and watched the gold medal mixed doubles curling game. Over all it was a good time. My wife made brownies, which doesn’t help either of us stay or get healthy haha, but they are good! πŸ˜€

We are about to have a Valentines Day luncheon at work so I am trying to get this post out a bit quicker than normal. We have homemade lasagna, as well as some snacks and other goodies.

In other news, I have found a couple jobs in the area we are looking to move to. I am scared to apply because that will make it all real to me. Real that I would have to leave my current job. Real that we would be up rooting our life. Real that we would be putting a house down and selling ours. Don’t get me wrong, I think it would be the best for us, it is just going to have a few awful things involved and a few very stressful months. Timing is still key. If I apply and get a job there I’ll have to leave and live with her grandparents until our house sells and the new house is in. If I get a job late, then I’ll have to stay put while they move out, if our house has sold. Its all really crazy and it isn’t very easy. More to come on this later, I’m sure.

That is all for me today, I hope you have a nice Valentines Day, and I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend Update!

Hey Everyone!

Our plans for Saturday didn’t happen. We were going to go back to see my wife’s family and that all fell through. We spent the day at home, doing a bit of everything.

Sunday was similar up until dinner. We headed over to my parent’s house. It was Super Bowl Sunday and my parents always throw a party. Nothing crazy, just some family and what not. We, as I have stated before, weren’t going to stay for the majority of the game. We got there early and let everyone spend some time with Everett and all that good stuff. My brother and his little family came and my niece Rory had some nice little pig tails in.

Here is her and my dad putting her baby doll in the play set.

1

Her she is again trying to give Everett her doll. He was clearly watching the TV or someone else in the room lol.

2

Rory is sitting with my dad in this one talking with my Aunt.

3

We had homemade pizza and plenty of snacks. There was everything from veggies, to chips, venison balls, and brownies. We stayed a bit later than we planned, but I figured that would happen once people were there. It was a good night. We got home at a decent time and put Everett to bed around 9pm.

My wife has the week off to burn some vacation time. If she doesn’t use it she loses it so why not right? She sent me this picture of Everett playing in the new jumper I bought him Sunday.

signal-2018-02-05-075840

He really seems to like it. The three buttons by the globe speak in English, Spanish, and French. It is a nice learning tool for that age. All sorts of things make noise on that thing haha.

So now I’m stuck at work while they are home all week. 😦 Oh well. I have to do what I have to do I suppose! That is all for me today. I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Coffee Talk

Hey Everyone!

This is a little later, but a “Coffee Talk” all the same.

This is there first time I have been at my desk for more than 2 minutes all morning. I’m super glad it is Friday!

Tomorrow we go back to my wife’s home town. We have made our appointment with the lady at the modular home company. We will meet with her and do a walk through as well as explore our other options with them. I was able to talk with my co-worker who also got a home from the same area, although it was 10 years ago. I think the rates are very similar still. He got a 2 story house for around $118,000 and had his own basement done for another $50,000. We had a single story ranch priced with a full basement for around $169,000. It is over our price point I think, for what we want but the rates seem to even out a bit. We will just have to wait and see. We need to not get ahead of ourselves as we still have to speak with her grandparents about the whole thing.

Like I mentioned I have been busy all morning and hope I can have some down time the rest of the day. Fingers crossed haha. Not necessarily “down” time but slower requests.

The depressing part of my day is realizing that my student loan payments come out today. 😦 It is tough to see $700 disappear in an instant haha. This also reminds me of my Children International sponsor child Abel! My auto payment for that comes out the same day as my student loans. I am still waiting on a response to the food and gift I sent for him and his family. His birthday is January 9th, so I sent his family some traditional food items, and I bought him a soccer ball and some orange Fanta. I guess that is huge over there. They, from what I hear, send pictures when the family comes and gets the items at the local town center. I am patiently waiting to see his face again. πŸ˜€

That is about it. I hope you all have a great weekend, and I’ll try to do the same. I’ll see you all again Monday with an update on the weekend! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

It is 8:05 am and I am starting my early morning ‘Coffee Talk’ off right. I just had my first cup of coffee and I am ready to end this day! haha.

I get a nice four day weekend and a ton of family time this weekend, so the quicker this day goes the better. That being said today won’t be a bad day by any means. Here at work they are having an ugly sweater contest, that I failed to enter. :/ I know, I know. I was late to the game and tried to find one last night. I went to five different stores and failed each and every time. Maybe next year. We are also having a Christmas luncheon. Most departments in our company agreed to bring in certain items and we will have a nice lunch.

I’m guessing my day will be pretty lack luster. Not may people like to report any issues on a Friday, and definitely not on a Friday with a long weekend. After lunch my wife will be bringing Everett into the office. He came in when he was just a month or so old, and I have had some requests from some employees to see him again. She works a half day-ish today so she is bringing him in.

Speaking of Everett, he is exactly seven months old today! It is hard to believe, I know, but it is true. He is sitting, rolling, and working on crawling and standing. To be honest I see him standing and walking before he crawls haha. He has mumbled a few things that sound like words, and has started to gnaw on some solid foods.

What are your plans for the holiday weekend? Are you doing any traveling? How many people are you going to see? Do you have any fun holiday traditions? Let me know in the comments below.

Remember I will be back Wednesday the 27th with, I’m sure, a giant weekend update. I’ll see ya then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Lazy Tuesday!

Hey Everyone!

Back on a very lazy Tuesday, that is more like a Thursday. Last night I was on baby duty while my wife had an online training. I wanted to work on the snow blower but could not bring our boy out so that was a no go. With any luck and effort I might get to it tonight. Might. After baby duty I was able to sneak away and play a few games of Rainbow 6 with my old college roommate.

Today has been slow at work. It gets like this near a holiday. No one wants to report anything or take the time to let us know something isn’t working properly. This is all well and good but it makes for a pretty boring day. On the other hand we are having lunch for a retired employee today. She was with the company for 17 years. She requested meatball subs and the whole deal, so I’ll have a full belly and want to sleep all afternoon haha.

We are one step close to Thanksgiving and my plans have remained the same. We will be at my families on Thanksgiving and my wife’s on Friday. I also realized that the first day of buck and doe season is Saturday the 2nd here so I’ll be heading into the woods on the first to stay in the unfinished cabin and have an early Saturday hunt. I don’t have enough time to take from work to go out more than a couple days so odds are against me getting anything, but if I do I want to get it processed where my boss does. His deer sticks and bologna is delicious!

Everett seems to have the majority of his illness behind him now. He is feeling much better and has gotten a bunch of mucus out the last few days. We hope we can keep him healthy over the holiday. We are going to be making sure that no one in our families have any sickness before we go over to their place. If they do we will be either very cautious or have to not go, which would suck.

I have no further communications for you at this time. I will see you all again tomorrow and thanks for stopping by! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What A Fun Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was a blast. I mean nothing crazy happened, but it was an all around good time. It really started on Saturday. My wife left in the morning to get her hair done for the first time since having the baby. It was something she really wanted to get done, so I’m glad I was able to watch Everett while she did that.

Once she got home, I packed my stuff and headed to camp. Before I left I stopped at a place that over looks most of my whole city. I had a nice panorama, but it looked weird when I threw it on here.

20171007_105146

Once I got to camp I helped my brother and dad, who got there before me. We brought wood and supplies to the site. Here are the 4″ pieces that we used to cover the cracks of the other boards.

20171007_130105

When we were on the last board, we had to notch it. This was to ensure that it would fit around a stud. I was notching it out with a hand saw when it jumped up off the board and sliced my thumb. It was pretty bad but I got it wrapped up quickly.

20171007_135411

It is a bit hard to do most things with your thumb covered like this haha. I had a glove over it so I would not get dirt and stuff in it. Plus, I was staying the night so I was going to be there a long time.

Anyway, with that set back out of the way we were able to get the pieces up!

20171007_142054

Since we had more boards from the last time, we started work on one of the ends. It gets the most weather so we wanted to cover it up a bit. We are going to, possibly slat shingle the peaks, and cover the cracks with more 4′” boards like the front.

20171007_171443

A couple of my brother’s friends showed up as well as my older brother. They hung around most of the day. But after a while I was getting hungry for that juicy steak I told you all I would get. I threw it down on our grill over some hot coals and let it ride.

20171007_180928

While that was cooking up nicely, my brother’s friend Ben made me a drink. Stick with me as I explain what’s in it. He mixed bourbon and blueberry preserves in an empty water bottle. Once it was shaken together he poured it through a strainer and into my cup. Similarly, he mixed lemonade and club soda and poured that in too. To finish it off he squeezed a lemon in there and here is what we have!

20171007_181602

It was really dang good. I had a couple of those and enjoyed my steak.

20171007_183132

Once everyone left I hung out by the fire until it got dark. I threw a few more logs on because I wanted coals for breakfast.I decided to just roll my sleeping bag out in the cabin and stay there for the night. It looked creepy but it was better than a tent!

20171007_201634

With my head lamp on I started into my new book! I only got a few chapters in before I turned in for the night.

20171007_202237

I’m pretty glad I slept in the cabin because it rained pretty hard that night. Which did ruin my breakfast plans. I had no coals and with the clouds over head it stayed dark longer than I had hoped. When I woke up I packed my things and just headed home. You can see below what it was like on my way out.

20171008_071108

I stopped off to get pop tarts for breakfast and brought them home for my wife. It is a craving she has somewhat often so I figured it was a good choice. We ran around Sunday and got groceries, as well as cleaned up around the house. My mother in-law came down and wanted to spend some time with Everett. That gave me some time to play a few video games. I checked the mail later and was pleased to find two pieces of mail from real people haha. First a card from my great aunt Arlene. It was a “First Halloween” card fro our son.

The second was a nice thank you from my brother and his wife.

We closed out the weekend with some Netflix and ice cream. Sounds good huh?

That is all for me. It was a fun weekend and I’m glad I got some time in the woods! I’ll be back tomorrow, see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
