Happy Thursday!

Hey Everyone!

I had some plans change yesterday and wasn’t able to get a post out yesterday. I kept thinking I forgot to do something all day and I think this was it haha. πŸ˜€ What happened was I scheduled a doctors appointment as soon as they were available, which was the middle of the day.

Since Saturday my back has been killing me. I have full range of motion but it hurt/hurts when I breath deeper. It was confusing to me and I couldn’t calm myself down about it, so that is what I did. Once I was done with my appointment I just went home. The PA-C determined that I strained my diaphragm. Just like doing curls with your arms all day would hurt your arm, I hurt my diaphragm by using it all day. The two points where, I guess, it meets other parts of the body are where it hurts and that is why it felt like two separate spots. He prescribed me some muscle relaxer for the evening and ibuprofen three times a day for inflammation. I have felt pretty good today, so far. I’m sure I’ll be fine to get back out there for the tournament.

In other news I am finally getting my car fixed and inspected Friday. I have to drop it off at the shop tonight, and I can’t forget. That is part of the reason I am telling you haha. πŸ˜€ If you didn’t know I totally forgot to get it inspected in May and didn’t realize it until July. It is now August and It will finally get the work done. Don’t worry, since I found out I haven’t driven that car. It has only taken this long because it needed brakes and calipers. The other reason it has taken so long was that one of our shops in town completely burnt down, so every other shop is backed up. I hope to be back in business next week.

Yesterday my wife’s family came down to see Everett So her grandma and mom were there when I got home. They brought some ice cream cake from DQ for all of our birthdays and bagels from our favorite spot in our college town. They make bagels daily and they are really delicious!

That is all for me today, I hope you have a great Thursday. I’ll be back tomorrow and hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Not Catching A Break!

Hey Everyone!

I haven’t been able to catch a literal break in time this week. I, again, apologize for not being able to get a post out yesterday!

Yesterday started like any other, but quickly became one of the busiest days I have had in a long time. At work Around 9am I started deploying the 3 big ass printers for our 3 shipping locations. They had to be done in a live environment in order to avoid addressing conflicts, which can get a little hairy. I ran in to a snag after the first one and had to figure out why it was doing what it was doing. After picking the brains of my two co-workers I was able to find that the post number had to be changed in order for the printer to work. The old port number only worked for printers from 2009 or older. The new one was for everything newer. So that took about my whole day.

I left work early at 3pm. I had to pick Everett up from his baby sitter, and get him over to his Ear/Nose/Throat doctor. He was checked to see that his tubes were still in; they are. He was then tested again for his hearing, where they stick up in a room and play white noise sounds. He is gauged on how well he reacts, if at all, to those sounds. Before getting his tubes he was only reacting to sounds 45 decibels and up. After getting tubes he is where he should be, right around 20-25 decibels and up. So all good news there! πŸ˜€

We headed home and met my wife. She took Everett and played with him outside while I got ready to power wash the garage. I set it all up and found that I really didn’t have enough power to get any of the crap off the siding… :/ Our hose was old and had some small holes, so we took off and bought a new one and a new decorative holder for it at Lowes. Once home, I hooked it all back up, with no real change in the washer. I also noticed that the spigot was leaking too, so I tore it apart, and noticed that it was one of those frost guard ones that goes the whole way though your foundation into your house. This is so that in the winter months there is no water in the line outside at risk of freezing and breaking your pipe. I hopped back in the car and was hoping to just find a simple solution to fix the part that was leaking. No such luck. I returned home to pull the whole damn assembly out of the concrete block and take it back to Lowes for a third time, and get a replacement. I had to widen the hole in the block before it would fit. I also had to re-apply that plumbing tape to the threads two times because the first time it was dripping. Once it was water tight, I applied a Gorilla Glue caulking on the outside and inside to keep the bugs and what not out. Being about 9pm at this point I didn’t have a chance to test the pressure washer again haha. It is crappy out today so I may not be able to test it for a week, but at least I know that all the connections are now good for future needs.

Work today is just as busy, hence why I’m trying to get this post out a bit early. I know I’ll be really busty soon haha.

So that is all for me today! I hope you have enjoyed the post and your stay, and with any luck I’ll see you again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Sick Boy, Website, & 401K!

Hey Everyone!

Update on the little man. He has, yest another, ear infection. We were told that this one was separate from the last one he just had. He is back on another form of antibiotic. He seems ok with it, at least he isn’t throwing it up instantly like the last one. They checked him for the flu again by jamming that pipe cleaner up his nose, he hates that. It came back negative so that is a plus. They also ran a blood test, just to make sure everything looked like it should, and it did. We have an appointment on the 29th for him to see the local ENT doctor. He most likely will get tubes now. It was a late night with him being at the doctors for two solid hours, but we are glad to have some answers. We kept him home yesterday, and he is home with his grandma again today. He still have a fever of around 100 degrees, so we want to see that go down.

In other news I am helping my wife get her photography media in order. She has been wanting to really make a go at this as a business, and hasn’t been able to get it all started alone. Her online presence is hit or miss, and not everything is on the same page, figuratively. I am working on making her a free website, for now, and going to seamlessly connect her Instagram and Facebook with it all.Β  It is tough but fun as a project. I’m not in webdesign, but with website builders, once you get the hang of it you can do some cool things. We don’t have the money to buy another domain yet, but when we do we will upgrade that. It will really depend on what we want to host on the site vs. what we want to just link out.Β  I’ll share it with you all when it is done, whenever that will be haha.

I have a 401K review meeting today at 2:40pm. They come every year to evaluate and let us ask questions about retirement, and yes I’m far from it haha. I have a pretty good thing going with it and just want to make sure I’m still in a good spot. I may ask them about what would happen if I were to leave the company, since that might actually happen. I want to know if I can still use the one I have or if I would have to roll it over. I know my current company won’t put into it but I want to see if I have to keep it stand alone or not.

Right after this I’ll call my loan providers again. I went to do it yesterday and the nor’easter, had their office shutdown! My luck right? haha. I’ll try again until I get them.

That is all for me today. I’ll see you all again tomorrow for “Coffee Talk” πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What A Day!

Hey Everyone!

Let me run down a recap of the rest of my Monday. I left work early to have enough time to gather my dog’s urine and take it to the Vet for further testing. She had a UTI and I wanted to make sure that it was all cleared up and that she was good to go! To be short, they called back and said she was all clear. Again I took her on the leash and slid a dinner plate under her haha. I scared her a little bit this time so she stopped going. I had to transfer the urine into a baggie because I didn’t have a different small container with a lid. It took some real skill to do all of this, I’m sure you can imagine haha.

I was all ready to head to the Vet and my wife had picked Everett up for his 9 month checkup. The timing was great. I was ready to go, and so was she. We grabbed Everett and headed out. We hit up the Vet first and then headed to his appointment. We made it there with about 30 seconds to spare. The called his name and back we went.

The appointment didn’t really go so well, unfortunately. :/ He only needed one shot, so that was good, but he seemed to be in rough shape other wise. He has another yeast infection on his bottom, and a double ear infection. This after he just got over the Flu. They gave us a referral to meet with an ear, nose, and throat doctor in Buffalo, for tubes. We have time to decide if he really needs them or not, but we may as well get the process started. After the appointment we had to grab some groceries. We hit up the local Wegmans and had some subs there, before shopping for food. That way we didn’t shop on an empty stomach. Everett was having the best time, because for the first time he was able to sit in the cart and see everything.

He is still a bit tiny so we watched him closely but he did great. We finished grabbing groceries and headed home. Once we were back in town we had to pick up his two prescriptions at the local CVS. He needed stuff for his ears and cream for his baby butt.

By the time we really got home, it was about bead time. We unpacked, and put everything away, and that was that.

One thing I forgot to mention, was that Everett also bonked his head at daycare and had a nice bruise on his head. I just told her that he is now crawling and pulling himself up. I did all of this so that she would pay attention to him and make sure he wasn’t doing anything that was going to result in something like that. :/ I guess he pulled up on a toy and was bouncing around, while holding on to it. He fell forward and hit his face. He also got a bloody nose…DOH! I just wish they did a better job at watching him. Sadly there is nothing or no one in the area willing to watch kids this young. So again, our options are more than limited. I feel trapped a bit, because I have to have child care, but the care isn’t up to snuff. This then leads to us not feeling comfortable with him being there for safety reasons, but having no where to go.

We will see how today goes when I pick him up.

That is all from me today! I hope you are having a great Tuesday. I know I am taking some time to chill after yesterday’s all day affair haha.Β  I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Busy Day Today!

Hey Everyone!

I have been super busy with work today, which is welcomed any time. Just a quick run down of things I’ve done will follow. I have corrected a couple networking errors, set up a Sales Department Kiosk PC, had a meeting with Purchasing about the transfer of one of their employees and the addition of a new one, set up a laptop for said transferring employee to use while training, helped set up a new printer in our other building, fielded a few tech help questions, and solidified the use of the new Debit/Credit form I created. Now if that is too large of a sentence, good! That was a ton of stuff all in the matter of a couple hours. It doesn’t end here either. When I get done writing this I’ll be off to finishΒ  setting up that printer for a few people, as well as creating another PC for the new employee coming Monday.

Last night my wife and I had a little discussion about the home situation. Her mother gave us some insight that, having one built or placed on the property by her grandparents is not out of the question. To me that is a good sign. We just have to voice the question out right and see where we land. He may straight up say no. He may straight up say yes. He maaayyy say yes with a stipulation that we build rather than place one down. He mayΒ  want to pick his own contractor, or have say in what is built (which we don’t want). there are still a bunch of unknowns but for now I like the fact that they just haven’t said no yet haha.

Everett has his 8 month checkup today right after work, so I’ll pick him up from day care and grab his mama, and be on our way. I am excited to see how a routine checkup goes there. Again we are at the new pediatrician, that we love so far. We have a few questions about his diaper rashes and what not but other than that it should be pretty straight forward.

I have finished season four of Game of Thrones, and still love it dearly. I will not spoil anything, just in case there are people new to the series, like I was. It is just amazing how they can keep the intensity up while having a great story line.

That is all for me today, I hope you have a great Tuesday! I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Follow Up Appointment!

Hey Everyone!

I’m back with a little more content than yesterday haha. Last night, right after work, we took Everett to his follow up appointment. Now this was all of our first time going to this pediatrician, so we weren’t sure what to expect.

We pull up, after the 30 minute drive, and see a pretty normal somewhat small building. Once inside it really opened up. That place looked huge! You are met with a large purple waiting room that is divided for sick children and well children, which I though was really neat. They try to take an extra measure to keep the sick kids away from potential healthy ones. The waiting room of course had some toys, but also had neat things like large front wheeled bicycles hanging from the ceiling. Really cool. We registered in no time and went back shortly after. The hallways are lined with life size stuffed animals and more cool things. It was a very open concept of space with most people working right on that large hallway floor. Another thing to mention is that they are open until 8pm that is unheard of where we live. We are able to get out of work make the 30 minute drive and still be there with time for an hour long appointment. We were there an hour, and most times that would bother me, but it was no big deal. It went by in the blink of an eye because the doctor was very engaging and was helping us actually understand what was going on in the body of our child. She was very relate able, with three boys of her own, as well as knowledgeable. I really think we have found our forever pediatrician.

On to his appointment! We were told he is still breathing fine and that his croup seems to be getting better on its own, which is great. Once we told them that he wasn’t taking his steroids because he was throwing up she said not even to bother with them. Fun fact, I guess those steroids could stunt his growth, which we were unaware of. He is already going to be a shorty, we don’t need to aid that haha. To our surprise she did see that he may have an ear infection starting so she got us an antibiotic. Since Everett tends to get yeast infections while on antibiotics they gave us some sample boxes of probiotics to see if that would help stop the yeast infection. Again everything was just so well delivered that we didn’t even realize we were there so long. We also had them check him for the flu and RSV, both came back negative so we were good there too. πŸ˜€

Today he is back at the babysitters so we will see how that goes. I have been pretty busy at work today, unlike yesterday. We have had a printer that just up and stopped working. It is networked in and just quit. We have two patches, one on each end and a full run from the wall by the printer to the patch panel. That makes for 3 lines to test. Well….all the lines except the run tested fine, so we got out the super detailed testers and tested the whole thing again. this let us know that approximately 318 feet in on the orange wire there was a disconnect. Once finding that we took a shot in the dark and cut a particular section that could be the problem area and made new ends for the cable. Sure enough it worked. So we are back up and online with that printer. Time spent was probably 2 hours this morning. It feels good to get some really troubleshooting in.

Today was my pay day! Woo, that is until I realize it is all gone 😦 I paid off most of my bills, then my student loans, Everett’s college fund, my retirement, and have about 20 bucks for gas. R.I.P. my pay check, gone too soon. XD XD

That is about it for me today. I hope you all have a great hump day, and I’ll see you again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Projects, Projects, Projects!

Hey Everyone!

My doctors appointment went as well as it could yesterday. Thank you all for the support. I have to go pick up Cortisone lotion for the burns since they are chemical and not heat related. Once I use that for a few days I should be back to normal. I spent quite a bit of time trying to pull dried concrete out from under my finger nails. Not pleasant!

I did manage to get one of my many projects started yesterday. If you follow me on Instagram you may already know. I wanted to build a firewood rack for my house. It had to be able to hold kindling and have a shelf on top for our electronics in that area. I threw together this design, with as many dimensions, supplies, and prices that I could.

Here is what I ended up with, it is smaller because I over guessed my space. It is still mostly the same design.

If I were to do it again I would have put the vertical legs on the ground and just cut the front piece shorter. We had to “toenail” the verts and it was tough. From here I have to have the glue all dry, cut the tops even, sand it all, and get that stain on it. It was fun to make, even though sometimes my dad and brother can be a bit much to handle. We all have our own ideas, even though I had the whole thing drawn up. So sometimes we all butt heads at once and it gets less fun. At the end of the day it is going in my house so I have the final say, done!

My next project will be putting a mail box down on our lawn, because I want to work with my steps some more and do it right. I don’t want to be pressured to get them done, yet I still want my mail to be delivered. We are going to dig about a two foot deep hole and put in a 4×4 post. Next we will attach the mailbox we used at our wedding and we will be good to go. I have to call and let the post office and let them know that the issue is resolved. I hope to get that done tonight.

The rest of the night I hope to make the cuts on the other, other project haha. I will be making cubby shelf storage for in the baby’s room. I need it taller than the crib and nice. I am going to stain it the same as the firewood rack to save some money. It is Minwax Espresso, a darker brown that will fit well with both. Here is another mock up of the dimensions.

It is really only going to take two boards. Each one will be 1″ thick, 12″ wide, and 12′ long. All of the cuts are lined out there in the picture. I will have to glue the bottom of all but one of the middle verticals, as there will be no good way to get a nail in there. I will be able to nail the tops so it would be good. Once that is all done and put together it will go through the same process as the firewood rack. When it is all done I think we will get 4 gray fabric drawers for it and then keep books and toys in the empty ones.

Thank you for reading about my upcoming projects! I hope you enjoy some of these technical and informational posts. I’ll see you all again tomorrow with some updates! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Rough Night

Hey Everyone!

I’m going to keep this one a little shot, I jacked my hand up a bit.

Last night I was very prepared to work on the firewood rack and the cubby storage for the baby’s room, until I got home. I check and saw that for the 4th day in a row we didn’t get any mail. I called the post office since It closed in like 10 minutes. I know the post master and he is a good family friend. He told me that they had a hold on our mail because our steps were getting too bad. I have been wanting to repair them, but I had to wait until the weather broke. It snowed last week, how should I have fixed them?? Anyway, they didn’t us any notice it all just stopped coming. My brother and I did go get all the supplies that we needed for the other projects, but I also grabbed the stuff needed to fix my stairs. That was now my priority. The weather still isn’t cooperating but at this point I don’t have a damn choice. We picked up 60lbs of concrete patch and had to mix it by hand because my drill didn’t fit the egg beater. Well not knowing that it isn’t good for your skin, I had used my hand to scoop out the concrete and slap it on the stairs while my brother used the trowel to smooth it all. Being in a rush when mixing and fighting daylight, I had a small wet piece hit my eye. I had to rinse it out and get back to work. Well after we got done with what we could I cleaned up. My hands were super dry and that is when I looked it up. when it is a wet mix it is about a ph of 13 or 14. I have a couple of burns on my fingers and my arm from open cuts. I have a doctor appointment at 2pm to make sure that I am treating them right and to see if there is any chance of them spreading or getting worse. I also want him to check my eye to make sure everything it good. I would go to an eye doctor but we don’t have vision insurance. Time to look into that haha.Β  Anyway I have been typing thins with about 5 fingers instead of 10 and it’s pretty tough.

I hope to get out out the doctors office and get back to work on those other projects. My brother should be coming over again to help me but if not it’ll be no big deal to do it myself. I’ll try to keep you updated. I have also kind of applied to be a transcriber. It would be work as many or as few hours as you would like and do it all from home. I can really use any extra cash I can get with all these repairs and builds. Fingers crossed it would be a good fit!

That’s it for me today everyone, thanks for reading about my unknowing, self-inflicted suffering haha. I’ll be back again tomorrow, with hopefully better news! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
