Middle Ground!

Hey Everyone!

I want to take this time to spotlight something I have been hooked on lately. As most of you know I watch a lot of YouTube. I have seen the Jubilee channel before and have watched some of their videos, and to be honest wasn’t that impressed. I have now found their series called Middle Ground. Look this up if you want to see some real talk, on many topics. They take two sets of people, put them in a small group. They have questions asked one at a time and chose to agree or disagree to each. They each have time to speak and converse about the topic. It is a small enough group that nothing gets out of control. It really is a great series, if you are curious at all please check it out. Here are some of the ones I have seen and enjoy.

(There is minimal arguing, and more coming together than you would think.)

There are plenty of topics discussed and it is fun to see both sides of any one particular issue.

I hope you enjoy this post and check these out! 😀 😀

Coffee Talk (Incident)

Hey Everyone!

Good Morning. I hope you all have had a bit of caffeine already! 😀

I’d like to talk about what was going on around us last night. It was pretty scary, and had the potential to be more dangerous than it was.

My wife, small child, and I were just hanging out in our living room when she noticed that there was a Sheriff’s truck with its lights on no more than three houses up from us, across the street. At this point it could be anything, really, so we didn’t worry about it. Once this started going on we knew something else was up:

There were about 5 local police cars there, as well as the Sheriff, and an EMS vehicle. The officers and deputies were carrying their side arms, shotgun, and/or a semi-auto rifle. By the time that we went out to see what was going on the whole ordeal was over, as far as public safety is concerned.

You can see that the guy towards the left is in handcuff and was escorted to the hospital for an evaluation before heading else where. Thank you scanner app on my phone for those details haha.

We caught wind that what happened was the guy in handcuffs, is the son to the lady in the light gray house. He broke into her safe and was going to kill himself. I’m not sure who alerted the authorities, but they did it quick and nothing happened. There were teens next door who were told to seek shelter before things quieted down.

This brings up plenty of concerns for citizens in this area. I’m not going to get political in this post, about guns, at all, because that isn’t the cause of these events it is the reaction. The real matter with this incident is that he was not in the right state of mind, and clearly needed/needs some help. I really hope that he does get the help he needs in any capacity and that he can live a long healthier life than, quite possibly, his lowest point as of yesterday.

We are in a very quiet area, with not a ton of crime near us, but raising a family in a world that seems to be falling apart is scary and this was just a reminder of that.

I just wanted to highlight what went on yesterday, since this is a daily blog. I’m not really meaning to make any statements, but rather just reflect on an event that occurred very close to us last night.

I hope you all are having a great Friday, I know I am! I hope to see you all back again Monday. Have a great weekend! 😀 😀

Weekend Round Up & Police!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was pretty interesting. To be honest I can’t really remember what was going on Friday. As for Saturday we just hung out, and relaxed. But Sunday, Sunday was a whole other story! The majority of it was good and productive, the rest was blood boiling. I woke up and did the breakfast thing, and was sick of looking at our unorganized panty. So, I fixed it right up! 😀

I noticed Saturday that we had a bunch of old stale bread and muffins. Once my wife and I were up and about we went to one of the local parks and fed the ducks as you can see here:

We avoided the geese at all costs because they can be mean haha. The rest of the day was spent getting all of the old plants out of the garden, and staining my two projects. I ran through and got a few wheelbarrows full of dead plants. I started a small fire to burn the scraps and that is when stuff headed south for no reason. I kept seeing my neighbor look over our fence from their deck. Not more than five minutes later her husband, showed up in our driveway and peered over the fence. He told us that we couldn’t burn that stuff and it had to be 25′ from any structure, if it was an open fire. I thanked him for being neighborly and told him that I would go get a portable fireplace from my parents house and that I wouldn’t burn that stuff again. I took the remaining garden stuff to my parents and grabbed the fireplace. I looked up the city laws and saw that I was allowed to have that 15′ from every structure. So I thought everything was well and good. We will be back soon! I started staining the projects that turned out great. Here take a look:

Mid way through staining the cubbies, the cops showed up at my house. They were called by my damn neighbors about the fire I had. I just had the stuff that was on fire from before smoldering in there because it was already on fire at the point of our conversation. I don’t know why they would have called the police after having a conversation with me about the rules, and having me agree to get the portable fireplace, and not burn that stuff again. WTF! I thought they were being good neighbors and giving me a heads up, yet they still called the damn cops. Anyway I showed the cops that I was only burning scraps and they told me that in the future I could only burn wood in the portable fireplace. They gave me a paper with the city laws on it, which I had looked up before they got there, and left. I hope these neighbors know they burned a pretty good bridge with me and my family. I am not going to lash out or seek revenge. I will just follow the laws and be good. I won’t stoop to their level. I will not however, help them with anything they need at any time.

We put the remaining smoldering scraps out and filled the fireplace with ashes and tiles from the old spot that was too close to the garage. I took it to my parents house and dumped it. Once I got home I finished the cubbies. So with that being said we got a lot done, but had to deal with some pretty stupid shit! Internally I am angry and still annoyed but hopefully writing and sharing it with you all will help me let it go.

I’m here at work again, and had a few things going on this morning but all in all it has been a good start to the week. I think when I get home I am going to rack my Apple Jack and try to get it to clear up before freezing it.

That is all from me today! I hope you had a good weekend. Feel free to share what you did this weekend in the comments below! I’ll see you all again tomorrow. 😀 😀

How is your driving record?

Hey Everyone!

Welcome back on this fine Tuesday afternoon.

I had the opportunity to watch the movie ‘Arrival’ recently and it was different haha. arrival_hk

It is about some alien things coming to earth to ‘help’ humanity. I won’t go into much detail for those of you that haven’t seen it. It has Amy Adams as the lead actress, followed by Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whitaker. It is a slow movie that provokes thought, rather than portray action. If you are into that kind of thing check it out. With the Oscars being held so recently it must be said that they were nominated for eight Oscars, winning only one. It is a good movie at about two hours long. I just wanted to put that out there because it was fresh on my mind.

I have been trying to figure out a way to keep track of my bills and what not so I don’t forget to pay them. I have Outlook through work, and just started to use the calendar. For now I have all day appointments set for a couple days after my bill should post. I will try that out for month or two. If that doesn’t work well, then I might try to make it just two days a month to pay them all, if I’m able to. It really just seems like there is no good way to keep track of seven plus monthly bills that post on different days, and require different payment methods. Gah, it is so much more added stress that isn’t needed. It could be partly due to the fact that this is the first time I have paid for all of the bills in a household. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but should I really have to get used to it? I should try to find a really good way that works for me. I’ll tweak it when I can. I also have a fairly basic Excel sheet that keeps track of my bills per month/year. It can tell me what I have paid in total per month, how much I paid per year in each category (gas, electric, water, etc…), and how much I paid total all year. I have the sheet copied and ready for the next five years haha.

It is hard for me not to look at the big picture and freak out. I have so much stuff that I want to do to/in that house, and I can’t see a time that I can do most of it. Some being money related, others being time related. On top of that starting a family and trying to potentially finding a car is stressing me the F*ck out. Again, I’m sure it will be fine and I am just having a moment, but this moment keeps reoccurring lol. I have thought about just keeping my truck and only taking the baby in my wife’s car and seeing how much of a big deal it will be. It really may work out fine. That would be one less thing to worry about. One day I will need a new vehicle but our plan is to put it in my wife’s name and just have me as a primary driver, to keep costs, down.

If you don’t know, and you wouldn’t I have had a not great past when it comes to driving records. I have had my license taken away three separate times. When I was younger, and kind of still now, I didn’t really agree with the speed limits. I racked up enough points in my state and other states, for speeding only, to lose it. In doing so at one point I got my whole family kicked off of their insurance completely, and the rates skyrocketed. I have been scared ever since to get my own insurance for fear of not being able to afford it. I know, even now years late, that the rates are still high from that stuff. That is why I would just hop on with my wife. The more you know! 😉

I have seen this in my rear view mirror more times than I can remember! Even just in finding this picture I can feel myself getting a tight chest. I get really defensive around police officers and internally frustrated. I do my best to maintain a good demeanor knowing that it comes from a place in the past and not of the present but it just happens in an instant.

If you don’t mind sharing, what run ins with the ‘fuzz’ have you had? If none, great! Not that it needs written but if you don’t feel like sharing you don’t ever have to. It is just fun sometimes to start a conversation. 🙂

That’s it for today, I hope you enjoy my stress and awful driving record! I’ll see you all again tomorrow! 😀 😀
