Monday Photo Dump!

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to the start of the week! We did quite a bit this weekend. Friday we went to Pizza Hut with my parents for dinner and Everett was being a normal goofball.

Saturday morning we headed back to the cabin. We are hoping to have the beds in before the start of the hunting season. We added stairs to the front and added boards to the ceiling. Some of the wall pieces are missing, because they are all pieces we have to cut to a custom size.

This area will be the bed room, with bunks on the right and left.

This next one is looking from the kitchen area to the bedroom. We have that half wall up to divide the room.

While I was at camp my wife’s two friends came into town. One of them has a little three month old. We got ready and went to the county fair for a few hours.

Next is a must have golf cart. Just sayin. πŸ˜€

Towards the end we lowered Everett’s stroller and he passed right out!

Sunday we went out to visit my wife’s dad. He has been in a nursing home for a little bit now. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a while ago and can no longer live on his own. It is pretty sad because he isn’t very old. He remembers us and Everett and loves holding him.

We were able to meet with his wife and their kid Remi and take him to the courtyard. The kids ran around like crazy.

The lady in the wheelchair is Lois. She has sort of been watching over my wife’s dad while people aren’t around. She came out with us and loved seeing the boys.

Everett and Uncle Remi are playing here with some cars on the little bench.

Later to round out the day and make the most out of it we met with her grandparents and brother’s family for lunch. It was at a very nice golf course in the area. They have great food and service.

If you have your volume on you can hear Everett slurp up his noodles haha. if you look close you can even see his top teeth! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Once we got home, we got in our comfy clothes and watched some New Girl. Everett has been looking though his legs so my wife was doing it too and he was laughing hysterically.

That was our weekend! We did a lot and it was, like always, worth it. I hope you had a great weekend too! I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Exciting News & Eagles!

Hey Everyone!

I had a late night, for myself. I had my typical Masonic meeting, that went fast, and for good reason. We sped through what we needed to get done, so that we could enjoy the evening’s program. My cousin, Mike, got a state game warden to come give a presentation on the Bald Eagle, the the rehabilitation in our area.Β  It was really informative and fun to listen to. Here is a link to the live feed of a nest cam in PA. As I am watching there is an Eagle in there right now, it is really neat. GO HERE!

After the presentation, we had brownies and ice cream for desert. I was sitting with my cousin and the game warden and we had some good conversation. By the time I got home it was past 10pm, so Everett was asleep, and my wife was about the same haha. She had mentioned that she had to talk to me about something , but it had gotten too late.

This morning she asked if I was ready to talk a bit about it. I said I was, and she said that her grandfather called her and said that he was finding a way to build a house for us! I still want to confirm everything before I get too excited and nervous, but that is a very different story than when we talked to him last weekend. He wants us to get a firm estimate on the house we would want and the layout. She asked if he was aware that we would only be able to buy it from him when our house sold, and he seemed to be ok with that. So fingers crossed this may work out well. We will have to get a price and layout to him as soon as we can to get things rolling. The moment we actually break ground I will let my boss know that we will be moving, around a certain date, estimated completion kind of thing. From there I will scout for a job and hopefully they will allow me to start when the house is complete. IfΒ  they won’t and I still want that job I’ll let him know and have to put in my 2 weeks notice. It may be sooner and it may be later but that will play out. That is the scary part for me is leaving my job that I like, and the people somewhat high and dry. I’m not sure they would replace me until I left which would be terrible timing because our other co-worker is retiring.

I’ll keep you posted when I can. Work has been busy again today. I set up two full computers for people and deployed one of them. The other will go out tomorrow. Our conference room upgrade is still going smoothly as well. I was told to get a list of projects I was involved with this last year, for my annual review. I normally pass with flying colors and hope to again. If I do stay for some reason, this will help determine what I get in a profit sharing check and whether or not I get any raises. I really should track these as I do them haha. I’m sure it will be fine.

That is all for me today, I’ll try to see you bright and early for a “Coffee Talk!” See ya! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend, Anti-Phil, & Super Bowl!

Hey Everyone!

I can’t wait for Friday to come and go haha. My wife has the next week off so I won’t be taking Everett to daycare! The little things make all the difference in a work week.

This weekend we are going to head back, yet again, to my wife’s families place and spend the day. We have some tax information stuff to give her grandfather and I hope, fingers crossed, that we can talk more about getting a house out there.

Sunday we will not be watching the Super Bowl, because the two worst teams, in my opinion, are in the game. To me there couldn’t be a worse game to sit down and watch. Being a Cowboys fan my entire life, it pains me to see the Eagles at the big game. Growing up with a family full of Steelers fans I have been accustomed to also not liking the Patriots. My parents hold a get together each year to watch the game and this year I just really don’t want to watch the game. We are going to stop over for dinner and leave before the game starts. This way my mom won’t be mad that I didn’t come over and spend time with the family. I understand where she is coming from, but I’m not going to sit there for 4 hours and put myself through watching that game. If, and only if I was forced to make a derision about who I would rather win, it would be the Patriots.

Today at work we had a groundhog day luncheon. Our company has a long standing tradition of splitting in two, on and around this day. There the supporters of Phil and then we have the Anti -Phil supporters, (Kill Phil). They have separate luncheons on different ends of the shop each year and even had shirts made a few of the years haha.

Tomorrow, at work, we are allowed to wear gear from our favorite NFL team. I, of course, will be wearing my nice Jason Witten jersey that my wife got me a while back. I know of a few other Cowboys fans at this company so I don’t get ragged on too bad haha. I mean lets be real here, we have a few Browns fans still floating around haha.

That is all for me today, I’ll see you all again tomorrow morning! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Gearing Up For The Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

If you haven’t checked it out yet look at my last post. It was a fun app review that got a little longer than expected haha.

I wanted to make a second post just as a life post.

Today is my mother’s birthday, who knows how old she really is. I’m sure she wouldn’t mind people forgetting haha. We are going out to dinner tonight at a local place called the Plaza. It is a little dive, that has good food and great pie. We may head back to our place for further conversation and possibly board games. We really aren’t sure though since we both have little kids. Anyway, Happy Birthday to my mom! πŸ˜€

Tomorrow my little family is going on a day trip to the city to use up some remaining gift cards to Babies-R-Us and a few other places. I’m sure we will get some grub and hit up the book store while we are there. I have been wanting to read a book lately, but really need it to be a good one. I’m a crappy reader and need something that really gets me hooked. I’m leaning towards looking into the series of Jack Ryan, written by Tom Clancy. I see the first one in the logical series to start with is Without Remorse. If I can find it I may just have to purchase it. πŸ˜€

As far as Sunday, I currently have plans to go with my dad and brother to work on siding the cabin. We also have some insulation, but I think we need to seal the floor and what not first. Either way It’ll be fun to get back at it. If we can have it closed up before snow fall we will be grinning!

Big success I was able to mow my lawn finally haha. I know you were all wondering!

I’ll be sure to get some pictures and report back on Monday!

See you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Poor Baby, Pellet Stove, & Dead Switch!

Hey Everyone!

Yesterday was going to be a lazy day full of rest. Well, that wasn’t the case. We all have head colds and we found out that little Everett has an ear infection. He is doing better now and is on antibiotics.

After his doctor appoint I had a fire lit under my ass, for whatever reason. I wanted to move my treadmill to the curb and give it away, as well as dismantle my pellet stove setup and get it out to the garage. I’m in the process of selling it for some cash to either finish up the garage or get bookshelves made.

I had my brother coming to help me, and before he got there I took the treadmill out and had it on the curb. he saw it and asked why I was giving it away, and if it worked? I told him we didn’t use it or have space for it, and yes it worked. He pulled right in and we loaded it in his truck. haha His broke and he hasn’t had one since, until now lol.

Once that was done we started to dismantle the pellet stove. Here is the removal of the intake hose from the outside of the house:

Next was taking apart the exhaust pipe from the outside.

Then the inside, of course. Sorry for the bad picture, We were busy.

Once we removed the piping we took the sheets of wood off. This was an old window so it is window sized lol. We needed to make sure to patch this all up so we didn’t just have a huge hole into our basement. We placed OSB on the inside, and put better plywood on the frame. I then painted it with outdoor green paint to match the rest of our basement trimmings.

Then it was on to the inside. We dropped the treadmill off at my brothers house and grabbed some insulation from his attic.

Once it was cut to size we stapled it in place.

With the remaining pieces of ‘good’ plywood we covered the inside and there it is!

It is now well insulated and good to go. We moved the 330+lb stove into the garage and I posted it for sale in four different garage sale groups in the area. I am hoping to get it moved out quick so we can move on to other projects.

His is a picture of my little buddy not feeling well. He is feeling much better with three doses of antibiotic in him.

Late last night I received a text from my co-worker telling me that in the afternoon, once I left, that our switch died. This is a pretty big deal. All network traffic that would be going though that switch no longer could. That included our data collection system, no bueno!

So once I got to work today we had our hands full. Here is the mess we had make to re route everything, fun huh?

Looks like a rats nest. Once we are all done we hope to get it organized again. We have a switch that should be delivered today so we can configure it and set everything back to the way it was.

We also had our health screening today at work and even though I have lost 40+ lbs I still have higher cholesterol GRR! What does a man have to do! I took out a ton of carbs and watch all of my diet. At this point I’m sure it is just genetics. Oh well, we all die someday , right?

That is all for me. I hope I feel better today at some point, my head feels like it is in a fish bowl. I’ll see you all tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

College Ball, Pig Roast, & Camping!

Hey Everyone!

I’m back after a nice long weekend. It was a bit cold the first two days but we made the best of it!

Saturday we met up at my dad’s house, like we planned. People started to arrive around noon, for some good food and college football. It was the coldest day this weekend, which made watching the games outside a bit more difficult, but we managed.

My dad’s old referee buddies came and we had ribs and homemade BBQ sauce, it was all delicious. We watched Penn State blow out Akron and Texas get beat out by Maryland. They stayed to watch the Michigan game but I was too cold and went back home.

Sunday was another big day. We got up and got ready to head to my wife’s dad’s house. He was having a big pig roast! We got there around noon-ish, and there were already a bunch of people there.

Here is a shot of our baby boy being held by his soon to be “grandmother.”

Here he is with his great grandfather. Our boy’s middle name is his middle name. He is a great man with a better head on his shoulders.

Here is what we were there for!

Above is a 120lb pig, chickens, and baked potatoes. On the side they boiled five dozen ears of corn from my grandfather in-law’s fields. We stopped off at the grandparents house after the pig roast and grabbed some more vegetables, and what not. It was a late night and we got home just in time for bed.

Monday we had a campfire cookout at our camp. We also got the peaks covered and brought out the door and frame we are going to use.

We had a little guest in the cabin when we first got there! He ran off fairly fast.

Like you saw we had camp food, and relaxed around a nice fire to keep the bugs away. We all can’t wait to finish that cabin up a bit more to move stuff inside. It was a busy weekend that was full of family, great food and good football! Can’t beat that.

Coming up this week, we come off of our Masonic ‘summer break’ and have a meeting and initiation tomorrow. I also have to come in early and cover for my co-worker on Thursday.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend, as we did. I’ll be back again tomorrow, I hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Blood Orchid & Garage Update!

Hey Everyone!

**Quick update! My friends over at Riley’s Backpack need a bit of help keeping their domain. If you can spare a buck head over to their GoFund me Here! Thanks all!***

Today has been another slow day. Last night I decided that there is no good way to get my work bench off of my wall. That means that a whole section of my garage wouldn’t get insulated. I determined that it is no longer worth it to insulate it at all if that is the case. I sent the insulation back and grabbed four 8′ sheets of OSB plywood. I’ll be covering the walls and then working on finishing some of the details, like shelves, and peg board. In other exciting news, somewhat related, I just bought A drill, circular saw, reciprocating saw, and a jig saw from amazon! I haven’t ever had my own tools and I and pumped to be getting some. I have borrowed from my family, but want to slowly get my own. I opted for the 20V cordless tools, so I wont have a tangled mess. My dream is to have a charging station on my bench and be able to mount tools on the wall. I have stuck with Black and Decker as the brand because the leaf blower my wife got me on my birthday is that brand as well. I will have three batteries and two chargers after this order arrives. So after work I’ll be working on the walls! It is hard for me to wait all day at work knowing I could be home doing real work. :/ Oh well, have to have a way to fund my projects haha.

In video game news, I have progressed in Rainbow Six: Siege to the rank of ‘Platinum III’ This is the highest I have ever been and I love it. They guys I watch that stream the game and make money from it are lower ranks. That hasn’t happened with me before. It is neat. I am only three ranks from the top rank in the game. That’s not bad at all for playing with random people each game!

Staying within the realm of R6, they dropped their ‘Blood Orchid’ update and I need it in my life. You can check out the full update at this link here. The main things that people will really care about are the three new operators. They have introduced one attack and one defense Chinese ops, and one Polish op. The attacking Chinese op is named Ying and she has the ability to detonate a cluster of flash bangs. The defensive Chinese op is named Lesion and he deploys cloaked mines that poison his enemies and slows their movement speed. My favorite is the new Polish operator, Ela. She can place or throw concision mines that detonate by proximity. They have also introduced a ‘Theme Park’ map. Of course this is all one top of the behind the scenes fixes. All of which are listed in that link above.

Here is Ying:

That is all from me today! Ooh the dentist was an OK experience yesterday, nothing bad to report haha πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Dentist & Garage Finishing!

Hey Everyone!

Today has been really boring and it is driving me crazy. I haven’t really had anything to do here at work. I am not able to order anything new until the beginning of the next month, so I’m sort of stuck. To make it all a bit better/worse I have a dentist appointment at 2pm. So yes, I get out of work and end the boring work day, but at the same time I have to get two cavities filled! Gah, not good. I should be out of there by 3pm, which is when I will have to go pick up my son. With a numb face. *facepalm* I m really not lookinf forward to going to the dentist, or paying the bill.

Yesterday, towards the end of the day, a co-worker of mine dropped a Lowes gift card on my desk. It was for helping his son build a computer, and troubleshooting the issue they were having. It was $50 which is better than the $0 I had before. I decided that I would put it to good use after work. I went home and swapped vehicles with my dad, because I needed a truck. I headed to Lowes where I bought a 6′ ladder and a pack? container? thingy? of R-13 batt insulation for my garage. My framing is 2′ on center and the batt insulation was the only kind that was wide enough to fill those gaps.

Over the next few weeks I want to start on getting the insulation up, and bought. This will be a bit tricky on the ceiling and behind my work bench. I have to detach my bench from the wall that is currently boarded up and move it. Afterwards I have to take the existing plywood off and install the insulation. I won’t be able to put the bench back until the sides are complete since it stick out about 2′ from the back wall. Β Other than those two parts the rest of the walls should be fairly easy. I will try my best not to get fiberglass in my eye and hurt myself in anyway. I can’t guarantee anything though!

Well that is all for me. Depending on how I feel when I get home I may change out of my work clothes and start insulating. I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Zac Brown Band & Cabin Build

Hey Everyone!

I am back from my long weekend!

for those who may not know, my wife and I went to a Zac Brown Band concert she won tickets to. Β The concert was Thursday evening at 7 pm, at Youngstown State University. I guess it was the first time they have ever had a concert, and people we having a blast.

The band Midland was the opener and play for about an hour. Here was our view, mind you it was still the opener and daylight so the stands weren’t full yet.

mher (2)mher (3)

Here is a quick clip of Midland from Thursday playing there no. 1 hit ‘Drinkin’ Problem.

The rest of the night was awesome. The Zac Brown Band is great live! They even covered Bohemian Rhapsody, I didn’t expect that. It was looking like rain and that held off. It was a ton of driving for one night but it was all worth it.

mher (5)mher (4)mher (6)mher (7)

The pictures aren’t great but I wanted something haha.

Here is a clip of their super famous song ‘Chicken Fried’.

You can really tell the crowd was into it. If you make it to the end you can see that they continue to just do awesome instrumentals for a whole minute.

We made our way home and arrived after 1 am. We went right in, thanked my mom for watching our son and hit the hay!

Friday was spent relaxing. Saturday and Sunday I went with my dad and brother to get some more work done on the cabin. We started on the ends first.

Here is my brother adding the first piece of plywood.

mher (9)

We have arch gaps to fill at the top but the windows are all in and framed.

mher (13)

The other side done the same, with the bigger window framed.

mher (14)

Here is just a shot of the outside.

mher (11)

Next we worked on framing in a couple of french doors that we no longer needed. They will not be doors at all, rather just tall windows with builtin blinds!

mher (10)

Here is where they will go, one on each side.

mher (16)mher (12)

Here they are mostly framed in, and I figured I should get a picture now or else I would forget. The first is with the blinds closed then open. It should be a great feature for light and style.

mher (1)mher (18)

It is moving right along. Once we frame in the real door, and cover the two ends we are going to seal it up. We are going to caulk the floor gaps, and use expanding foam around the roof and walls. Next will be to insulate the inside all while having the other people putting on the siding. from there we are going to put Amish rough cut wood on the front, and plywood the inside. Then it is just a matter of building the interior, as far as bunks counters, and moving in furniture. Still quite a bit to do but it should be ‘livable’ for a weekend by first snow.

I had a jam packed weekend, but it was all a good time. I hope you all had great ones as well. If you get a chance check out my last post. It is a short film review that I was requested to do. Kinda neat actually.

I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Picture Update: Kitchen Edition

Hey Everyone!

This is my update to the kitchen project. I have a few pictures here showing what we have so far. (Don’t mind the mess, we have no where for anything to go at the moment)

This first one is of the lights themselves. They are hanging by a braided rope, into a stainless steel fixture. They each have an individual switch and are also connected to a switch on the wall beside them. You can”t really tell in this picture but they are the bulbs with the funky filament, which looks cool. They give off a warm light, not a bright white.

This next one shows you from the dining room looking into the kitchen. You can kind of see the small width of the kitchen here. It really opens everything up. The counter top isn’t fastened or caulked yet but we have some primer on this side. The kitchen at this point is completely painted that blue gray color you see. We will be painting this wall lighter than that left wall, but darker than the kitchen. We aren’t a huge fan of the tan counter tops but it works for now. (Again, don’t mind the mess)20161227_190823

This last one is another angle from the dining room into the kitchen. You can see the wall outlet and switch in this picture as well as how narrow the kitchen is. This has been a huge process but it really was worth it. It has taken much longer than we had originally planned but it will look good. 20161227_190903

Whats left? The trim still has to go on the bottom of the dining room side, under the counter top. We also need to paint the dining room wall. Next will be touching up some of the paint in the kitchen. The contractor will also have to come back for the fastening and caulking, but other than that we can put this project in the books. About time haha

Once we get it all done and cleaned up I’ll try to get a better picture of the finished product. Thank you for stopping by. Feel free to share your thoughts, or ask questions. I’ll be back tomorrow, I hope to see you all then! : D: D
