Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

I had every intention to post yesterday, I promise! You see, I ran into a bit of an issue with timing. I received a phone call early yesterday from my wife. She told me that she had trapped a mouse in our attic. The mouse was trapped under a Lego type toy bucket. Her plan was to leave it under there until I came home, 7 hours later…

I didn’t really think that was the best plan for the mouse or us. I left right when my lunch break started, and headed home. I was a nice husband and picked up an Iced Capp for my wife, and a couple of subs from Tim Horton’s. Once I got home I slid a thin cutting board under the bucket and took the mouse beyond our backyard and let it go in some brush.

We have a few traps set in the basement, and we got one the other day. I was hoping we were good, but that wasn’t the case apparently! I’ll keep the traps out for a while longer, as well as fill a couple small holes they may be trying to come in, near the foundation. Honestly I can’t find a real spot that they are coming in. The only reason, I think, it was in the attic was that the cat brought it up. I don’t really think they scaled the wall all the way up and found their way into the attic. I could be wrong but that’s my guess.

Anyway, I have realized that I have a ton of softball this next month! This weekend we have the end of season tournament for our Sunday league. Every Wednesday until the 18th we have practice for our company team. Next weekend I am pitching in a co-ed tournament. We may be entering our Sunday team into another one pitch tournament. Lastly, on the 18th we do have the huge Industrial Tournament (the one the practices are for) The ability that a couple of the teams I’m on have, may make it 4 + games each tournament. Most of which take place all in one day. For the next few weeks I’m a full blown softball man! haha 😀

I hope you have a great Friday and a great weekend! I’ll be back again Monday and hope to see you then! 😀 😀

Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

It is nice and early at about 7:35am, I just rolled into work and grabbed my coffee. I gotta let you know that I got super busy at work yesterday, and I will be very busy today, with any luck that will move my day along nice and fast.

Another thing you must know is that today is Friday the 13th. I personally don’t believe that a day can bring bad luck, but it is fun to dabble in the day. You can scour the internet and find people claiming origins back to biblical eras, but lets be real the only reason it blew up was due to the slasher movie “Friday the 13th” You had Jason Voorhees scaring the crap out of people, and made that movie a cult favorite for a decent audience.

Creepy right? Here are a few links to some further detailed explanations of the origins of the day (if you are interested):

I will be going about my day as normal, but if something unlucky does happen, I may at least think twice about the day haha. 😀

Are you a believer of luck, good or bad? I mean at its simplest definition is is really anything that happens by chance, but do you believe that something like a day of the week labeled with a number that we have determined can bring different kinds of luck? Let me know below!

I’ll see you all again on my 30th birthday! (Monday) 😀 😀 I hope to see you then! 😀 😀

Coffee Talk (World Cup)

Hey Everyone!

So the World Cup started yesterday. There are games going on from June 14th-July 15th. The World Cup is huge! Even people like myself who don’t follow the sport year round, stop for a while and watch. My brother and I grew up playing soccer. I played from age 5 until age 15, he played from age 5 until now. He still plays indoor soccer at a local YMCA now that I think about it lol. 😀  We both like the sport but it is hard to get access to it in the United States, it seems. Well, until the World Cup starts, and even then it isn’t advertised heavily. In total they play 64 games to see who will reign supreme. As most people heard a while back the US team did not make it in this time, which is sad. But to be honest we have always had a better women’s team. 😀 I have two personal friends in the Netherlands and they are upset they don’t have a team either. Normally I root for them because I have ties with people there, but I can’t even do that this year.

I know here in the Eastern Standard time zone that we have games at 8am this morning, 11am, and 2pm today. I’ll try to have them on in the background somehow. I think the only game that will be worth a real watch might be the 2pm game between Portugal and Spain. I have the Egypt v. Uruguay game on Hulu right now.

This all being said, do you watch the world cup? Do you have a favorite country that partakes? I used to be a huge Brazil fan back in the day. Let me know in the comments below. If you are watching the games let me know if you do anything fun for them, like watch in groups and have parties? Just a thought. Enjoy your day and the weekend!

I’ll see you all again Monday! 😀 😀

ps just informed that Egypt hasn’t been in the world cup in 28 years! wow.

Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

We have had a bit of a roller coaster the past couple days.

Everett has had a fever since we got home from vacation. He woke up Wednesday night out of a dead sleep and threw up in his crib. He did that twice and continued to do it all morning. I chose to stay home with him yesterday and take him to the pediatrician. They didn’t find anything, which is good because it isn’t anything terrible. They think it is just something viral and should go away soon. He is home again today with my mom, and he did much better last night, so we hope he is coming out of it all.

In more happy news he just randomly started clapping the other day.

He is a smart boy! He is learning everyday, and we want to keep that up. I am back at work today getting caught up on all the things I missed. If you remember the UPS upgrade I was working on, I am deploying those PCs today, with any luck. The hard part will be decommissioning the old one and moving the database to the new PCs the right way. Fingers crossed! haha.

Do you all have anything fun planned for this weekend?

Thank you for hanging in there with me while my life gets sorted haha. 😀 I hope you all have a great weekend, with great weather. I’ll be back Monday, I hope to see you then. 😀 😀

Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

Welcome, on this fine Friday. It is chilly here with a decent amount of sun.

May car is in the shop today getting a tune up/oil change/tire rotation. Things are going fairly well.

I’m feeling good about the day. I’m going to take it easy and let things that come at me roll off my back.

This weekend will hopefully be the same way. I just got a text from my brother asking if we could go work on the cabin Saturday, so if it is nice out maybe I can take the family out too. I do hope to start work on the garage this weekend at some point as well. I have saw horses now so I can take the wood outside and cut it. It would make the whole process more enjoyable.

So what are you all doing on your weekend? I hope whatever it is, you have some fun with it! Even if it is a slow weekend in the house.

That’s it for me. I’ll see you all again Monday! 😀 😀

Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

It is 7:54 am and I remembered! I came into this day knowing I had a lot going on. I have get a few things to my boss and continue the deployment of a couple PCs. I also have to contact the modular home company that we may be using, to get a quote for a house with and without a basement. In that same area I have to get a hold of our friend who would be willing to do our basement for us. Once we have all this information and are good on our end we will pass it on to her grandfather. From there he will see if he is able to do it for us 100% and with any luck it will start rolling! Then everything will be a big ol’ mess haha. Here is the plan we are looking at:

It isn’t big, but it is bigger than what we have believe it or not. We would go without the garage for the time being and add a double later on.

Other than that, Happy Friday! We made it. Do you have anything going on this weekend? I know here in the east we are getting hit with another round of snowstorms, so we may stay in most of the weekend. Although, my wife has an engagement photo shoot scheduled for Saturday. The couple wanted snow pictures, so what better weekend haha.We have to travel a bit to get there, but we may go earlier and head to the book store to make a day of it.

I hope this work day slides right on through, so I can start my weekend! I’ll see you all again Monday! 😀 😀

Ill, Disaster, & Bringing It Back!

Hey Everyone!

Well it looks like we are all going to get sick like we thought. :/ My wife and I started feeling it yesterday or so. We are both at work today, because, well, you know. No time to take off haha. Well not entirely, but we have to be strategic about how we use it. I may be using some tomorrow, if I get worse, and she can’t take off to stay with Everett. By the way, he still have a slight fever so he is home the rest of the week. So if you don’t hear from me tomorrow, well, I’m not here. 😀 If I don’t take off tomorrow I’ll probably take of Monday, if I can, and If I’m still sick. I can only assume we are going to feel real bad this weekend, that is why I’m planning things this way. I really just hope that Everett doesn’t get this crap again after he gets rid of it.

In other news, my morning was going pretty well, until I spilled a whole cup of coffee on myself haha. It was a nice fresh cup, full to the brim. I think I went to grab at it, clearly missed, and dropped it. It went all over my desk on my shirt and pants, and all over my plastic floor mat. DOH! That felt good, thankfully I wasn’t burned in anyway. That would have been really embarrassing haha.   I do have a nice large stain on my shirt and pants for the rest of the day… :/ I’m going to try to stay in my office as much as possible the rest of the day. But heck with all that going on this morning, maybe I should have have “Coffee Talk” today lol. 😀

Keeping it scattered, I have been wanting to start drawling again. I am pretty good, nothing amazing I’m sure but I always excelled in most things art related. That being music, painting, drawing, stuff like that. I never continued much after the burden of real life bogged me down, but I would like to, even if just for a short time, get back into it. I have been thinking about bringing my wife’s secondary camera with me in the car, so that I can stop alone the road when I see an amazing landscape. I want to get a sketch pad and work on my fine lines and images. I had my ukulele out for a while and now I have it stored away with a dead tuner, so I haven’t touched that in a while.

I would love to get back into skateboarding, but I am for sure way too out of shape for that at the moment. I still have my last board, I could tool around on it this summer a bit. I may be able to even take it on walks with my family and dog. Who knows. I just want to bring back what used to give me so much joy. I have gotten too far away from things I used to love, and honestly still do. I just have excuses as to why I don’t do them anymore. I either don’t have time, or am just too lazy to do so. To be fair after a long day of work and with a new baby it is harder to find time, but maybe I can start squeezing some of this back into my life. Since college I have filled most of my free time with video games. I do love them too, but I have not done that other stuff because of it. Hell I even love working on cars, I just don’t have the money or the vehicle to fix or modify. lol

Hopefully I can work on these things. I hope you can reflect on things like this as well, and who knows maybe pick up something you put down years ago!

I’ll be back again tomorrow, maybe. I’ll see ya when I see ya! 😀 😀

Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

I got busy yesterday at work and wasn’t able to post. We have little boxes in each of our CNC machines that allow them to communicate via wireless. Two of them went down and needed to be re-programmed. The hard part was that these were the only two that relied on a bridged connection and we haven’t been super familiar with those. The boxes basically have two network interfaces and two MAC addreses. Once configured it basically acts like a pass through from the control in the machine to a wireless connection. Anyway, you don’t care about that haha.

In cute and funny news, Everett loves his Baby Einstein jumper!

He will sit there and bounce like this fora long time. I stopped recording when he slowed down, but right after that he just kept going. He is also wearing his astronaut pajamas, which we love.

Today is Friday! I’m grateful for that haha. This week has dragged a bit for me and I look forward to a nice weekend. My wife is having a friend from work come over with her daughter Saturday. She is going to take some pictures of her. I like to see her use some of that stuff I got her for a home studio. I know the basement is in no way a finished product but I don’t want to see that equipment go to waste. That means I’ll have to be wearing pants Saturday haha.

The opening Olympic ceremony is going on this morning. If you are able to catch it you should. They are always really neat. I think I heard that the US was there with well over 200 of their own athletes. I also know that there is still tension running high with protests over the Koreans running under a neutral flag. With South and North Korea competing together they are using a white flag with the outline of North and South Korea, which most South Koreans disapprove of. They are holding the winter games this year and won’t even be marching with their own flag. That’s messed up, to me. Here is the flag they are using.

At the end of the day the athletes just want to compete, but it is rubbing a lot of people the wrong way.

This weekend looks to be blustery in my area so I’ll be sure to stay indoors and watch what games I can. Are you doing anything fun this weekend? Let me know in the comments below! 😀 😀

P.S. I was just sent this about a baby Octopus being born how cool?!?

Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

Welcome and good morning. It is Friday and I’m ready for the work day to be over haha.

I am working on my second cup of coffee here at work and trying to squeeze this post in. I have been unusually busy this morning. Today at work we are all sporting our favorite NFL team stuff. Anything from hats to jerseys and hoodies. It is fun to see some of the teams people like. We have a new sales guy that is a Patriots fan and he is working with a full sales staff of Steelers fans lol. We have a couple Bills fans, a dolphins fan, raiders, and Cowboys (myself included). It makes the day a little fun, and goes by a little faster being dressed down a bit.

Today is Groundhog Day! I feel like residents of Pennsylvania should have this day off! Of course only saying this because I live here, and for no other reason than wanting another paid holiday. 😀 I don’t think that damn groundhog predicts much of anything but it is a fun way to get together and have a good time, so why not? I would clearly want him to not see his shadow, which would mean that winter would end sooner, but the odds are against that. He seems to see that shadow more often than not. I’m sure the hundreds of people don’t help either haha.

I ought to be getting back to work now. I hope you all have a great weekend! If you are doing anything for the Super Bowl let me know, I’d love to hear about it. see you all on Monday! 😀 😀

Coffee Talk

Hey Everyone!

This is a little later, but a “Coffee Talk” all the same.

This is there first time I have been at my desk for more than 2 minutes all morning. I’m super glad it is Friday!

Tomorrow we go back to my wife’s home town. We have made our appointment with the lady at the modular home company. We will meet with her and do a walk through as well as explore our other options with them. I was able to talk with my co-worker who also got a home from the same area, although it was 10 years ago. I think the rates are very similar still. He got a 2 story house for around $118,000 and had his own basement done for another $50,000. We had a single story ranch priced with a full basement for around $169,000. It is over our price point I think, for what we want but the rates seem to even out a bit. We will just have to wait and see. We need to not get ahead of ourselves as we still have to speak with her grandparents about the whole thing.

Like I mentioned I have been busy all morning and hope I can have some down time the rest of the day. Fingers crossed haha. Not necessarily “down” time but slower requests.

The depressing part of my day is realizing that my student loan payments come out today. 😦 It is tough to see $700 disappear in an instant haha. This also reminds me of my Children International sponsor child Abel! My auto payment for that comes out the same day as my student loans. I am still waiting on a response to the food and gift I sent for him and his family. His birthday is January 9th, so I sent his family some traditional food items, and I bought him a soccer ball and some orange Fanta. I guess that is huge over there. They, from what I hear, send pictures when the family comes and gets the items at the local town center. I am patiently waiting to see his face again. 😀

That is about it. I hope you all have a great weekend, and I’ll try to do the same. I’ll see you all again Monday with an update on the weekend! 😀 😀
