Monday Funday!

Hey Everyone!

We had a pretty good weekend, I hope you did as well.

Friday our little family went to dinner at Red Lobster. It was nice to go out to eat for once and spend some time out and about.

Saturday I had that softball tournament. Our first game was at 9am. We didn’t do as well as we had hoped but still managed to be 4th in the league and get 3 games in the tournament. Now follow me here, We beat this team by the ten run rule, we then played the best team and lost by one. The third game knocked us out, via a team we have beaten before. The weird thing is that the team we beat by ten went on to knock out the best team and take second place in the whole tournament! We were stunned! We easily beat them by ten, how in the world did they beat those other teams? I understand it happens and I’m glad for them playing that hard, but it is just weird lol 😀

My wife was able to attend the first and most of the second game, until she had to go get ready to shoot a wedding. Everett and my mom stayed at the fields.

Saturday while my wife was away, and after the tourny, Everett and I went to my parent’s house. They were cleaning out their garage attic, and wanted some help getting things out. Everett found my first grade Halloween costume (Red Power Ranger), and spent some time smacking my mom’s dog lol 😀 He is still learning how to be nice.

Sunday we visit with my wife’s father. He was sent to the hospital, to get checked out. He has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I believe, and was having some weird things happening. They found him to be dehydrated mostly. We saw him there for a couple hours.

4

Afterwards we hit up the Olive Garden, and Barnes and Noble. It was a dreary, overcast day with some rain sprinkled in. When we got home we decided it was time to just watch a movie. My wife has been wanting to re-watch the Lord of the Rings movies, so we started with the 3 hours Fellowship! 😀

Here we are Monday afternoon, I have been working hard to get these darn terminals under wraps. I have a few orders placed and am waiting their arrival. Oh, other big news. My boss is retiring this April! That is good news to me. I will be bidding on his job, more than likely won’t get it. Based on who we all think might get it, I may be able to move up and take his job. I’m hoping to be the new Network Coordinator by May. I’m not sure if it will affect the blog or not. One day I may get too busy to run this thing, who knows!

That is all for me today! I hope you are all having a great Monday, and I’ll see you tomorrow! 😀 😀

Getting Back To Normal!

Hey Everyone!

Today, and partly yesterday, we have been trying to get everything back to ‘normal.’ We had been gone for a week. We were two time zones away, eating, and sleeping was all out of wack.

At least for me, I have had two great nights of sleep since we have returned. We are still sleeping on a futon mattress in the Everett’s room to get him used to his crib, but better sleep still! I finally woke up today feeling somewhat rested, after I got moving a bit.

We have had to catch up on our mail, our cleaning, laundry, dishes, yard, and a variety of other things. I have taken care of a few bills, and have caught up on my work emails as well. It has been just one giant game of catch up, but I think I’m winning. haha.

We have also had to reintroduce Everett, to better eating habits, and back into his daycare setting, this since he was only there a week and then we left. It is taking him some time but he will be back in the swing of things soon. Speaking of Everett he had his one year check up and did pretty ok. He is just at the bottom of the growth curve for height and head circumference. His weight on the other hand is not great at all. He lost weight since his last check up. He still only weighs 18lbs! We have tried just about everything we could, so we are now trying to supplement him with some Pediasure, if he likes it. He is getting whole milk and real food, but I think the problem is with the fact he still doesn’t have any teeth. :/ I think once a couple come in he can really tear into some good protein and what not. I’ll keep you updated.

In other news, I have some of those photos from our stop in Nebraska! Enjoy:

A very big thank you to Anna Mostek Photography for these wonderful pictures! You can check her page out at the link above. 😀 😀 She did a great job we are loving these!

That is all I have for today I hope you have a great day and I’ll see you all again tomorrow! 😀 😀

Smooth As Silk!

Hey Everyone!

Everything was smooth yesterday. I picked Everett up from daycare, he seems to be getting better, got him home, fed, and chillin. I was instantly on a cleaning spree for seemingly no reason. I mean from the moment I hit the door I was cleaning. I fed the animals, started laundry and did three loads, folded and srted those loads as well. I separated and picked up toys, and threw away a bunch of random crap laying around. I had my wife move her clothing clutter mess, and also did some dishes. It was non stop action. She went ahead and made a nice spaghetti dinner and we fed some to Everett. Once he was good and messy I gave him a bath, those are always fun. We opted to sleep in the living room with him again, this time I’m honestly not sure why. I have gotten decent sleep down there and don’t mind it. I think my wife likes it because it is warmer downstairs for her and Everett. Who knows where we will sleep tonight.

During the night we started to hear this loud revving noise, coming from out furnace. We have a gas furnace and it hasn’t made that noise before. It seemed to do it right before the air would kick on. I haven’t found a reason online that matches the description of the noise we had, but I’ll go home tonight and check the filter and go from there. Not sure what it is. If you are a furnace person hit me up haha.

Today at work I drafted an online will for myself, and I think my wife will do one too. I also did a living will and a power of attorney thing. I know there are a million ways to do it but this was upfront and all encompassing. We can sign them in front of people at the court house and have them notarized if need be. I’m sure if we don’t they would still hold up in court if anything were to go sideways. We thought about getting that done now since we have a kid. We don’t want anything to happen and not have a plan. If I show her mine and she doesn’t like it we can explore other options.

That is all for me on this unnatural warm day in January. Enjoy the rest of your day and I’ll see you bright and early for “Coffee Talk” in the morning. (If I remember haha) 😀 😀

Wedding & Productive Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

I would like to start off by saying sorry for missing Friday’s post. Whoopsies! In all seriousness I didn’t for get I was tasked with a really difficult project. It has all been sorted out as of this morning but it was something I was not very familiar with, so it took a while. It was a macro enabled Excel sheet that got all jacked up from the latest Office update. I has to go through the VBA code with the guy who wrote it and figure out what we could do. It really did take all day haha.

Secondly I want to send a shout out to Riley, from Riley’s Backpack! A while back you might remember him and his friends wanted to raise enough money on their Go Fund Me page to renew their domain and keep it ad free. I helped them out with what I could, and in return He send me a hand written letter. I wanted to say thank you and let you know you did indeed get my name correct haha 😀

Saturday the little family and I went to a wedding! It was not just any wedding, it was her father’s wedding to his long time girlfriend. They now have a baby boy well over one year old and finally got hitched. You can see all three of them below.

d

I know it isn’t the best picture but our little buddy kept getting fussy and we did end up leaving sooner than we intended to. It was a quaint little wedding in a nice Catholic church. The reception was on the lake in a really nice dining hall. The trip was a bit lengthy and I wasn’t super fond of that but it was all worth it.

Before we went to the wedding we stopped for lunch at my wife’s grandparent’s house. He had pumpkins waiting for him and wanted pictures with him up on his tractor. So that is what went down. Here is a shot of Everett Hugh and his great grandfather Francis Hugh!

Once we got home that evening we hit the hay.

Sunday started out pretty lazy, as intended, but wound up being quite productive. We didn’t quite have a frost but it was damn close. We had some morning coffee from our new coffee bar, and watched Netflix in our pajamas. We did have quite a bit to do and honestly got most of it done. We had your standard weekend cleaning, on top of laundry since we were gone the whole day before. I took out all the trash, hung Halloween lights, and mowed the grass. Later in the day I had a lady come look at the pellet stove I am selling, and I hope to hear back from her soon. My parents came over and brought Chinese for dinner. That was a great way to round out the weekend.

On a, probably over protective note, our boy has what looks like a small red-ish rash looking spot on his chin. Since we were around a bunch of people recently we don’t want him to have anything wrong with him. You hear all of the horror stories about babies getting bad viruses and we really hope it is nothing. I think I’ll call the doctor after lunch.

Again I apologies for missing Friday but I’ll be back again tomorrow. I’ll see you then! 😀 😀

Low Key Night

Hey Everyone!

Yesterday, after work, we headed to the doctor’s office for our baby’s four month checkup. He is still small in stature only being in the 23rd percentile in height and 8th percentile in weight. Of course he is only four months old so not really a big deal. He also had to get a couple shots in his legs. He tends to scream bloody murder for about 20 seconds then he is OK again lol.

Afterwards we got home and cleaned up a bit around the house. My friend from grade school came over for the first time since we bought our house. He is working in town again so we had to catch up. I showed him around and we just talked for a while. He is staying at his parents house while his wife stays in the city, where they reside. It was great to have someone over and break the norm a bit.

Early this morning my boy woke up in, what would seem like, pain. We assume it was from his shots, so we got out the infant Tylenol. He went back to bed so that is a plus! 😀

Here at work today I will be staying late. We are doing the tidying up of the server room. I have spent a couple days making Ethernet cables to the correct length. About 40 or so, which if you don’t know the process can take a toll on your fingers. I’ll post a video below if you feel inclined to know more.

I have the exact same cable tester, and when you use it they should all light up green in the correct order. It is simple, but it is tedious and making that many takes a while. I’ll take pictures if I can to show before and and after.

That is all for now! I’ll see you all again tomorrow! 😀 😀

Where Have I Been! (For Shame)

Hey Everyone!

You may have thought that I fell off the flat parts of the Earth. Even though it seems that way it isn’t the case, I promise!I had every intention to post Thursday and Friday.

Let me explain. As you may know my baby had an ear infection, and my wife and I had head colds. He was already started on his antibiotic and starting to feel better. I was still feeling a bit under the weather. I woke up Thursday feeling worse. I came into work anyway because I didn’t want to take time off and not really have a medical reason. I quickly realized that I couldn’t think full thoughts and even walk in a straight line, without having a shooting pain in my head stopping me in my tracks. I spent the next hour trying to contact my family doctor only to have their line be busy over and over and over again…. Their phone system must have been messed up. I finally made the decision to leave and go to the walk in clinic at the hospital. Of course only to find out that they didn’t open for another hour…. I was clearly not in the right state of mind. When I arrived, at the correct time, I was seen and told that I had a bad sinus infection. At this point it was hurting in my ears and still shooting pains in my head. They sent me a script for some big horse pills. I took the next day, Friday, off as well because I was feeling worse than the day before. I really couldn’t even move the slightest bit without the worst pain I have felt in a long while. By the end of that day I did start feeling better, I wasn’t sure how much better, but it was significant.

I went to bed hoping that I would feel more ‘like normal’ in the morning. That was indeed the case. I woke up still congested but I was able to walk and bend down with out the pain. I was indeed clearing up. Just in time too! My dad and I were signed up for the company men’s outing that day. It started at 8am, but we didn’t go until noon. We were signed up for the horseshoe tourney and the cornhole tourney. I decided that this would be a good test of how I felt and maybe get some fresh air. We stayed and have lunch, dinner and some giveaways. The event was held at the local Amvets gun club. The weather was unbeatable, and the food and company was better. All around it was a great day. Here are just a couple pictures I grabbed.

Sunday, since I felt like a loser for not pulling my weight, we spent most of the day cleaning and tidying up. Early on we got groceries, which was nice because no one was there at 8:30 am lol.  We later went for a walk around the neighborhood. I tried watching the Dallas game, but they had a lightning delay in Denver and then proceeded to get their asses kicked 😦 It was rough.

Today I am BACK! Back at work, back at blogging, and back to normal.  I have some catching up to do here in the office, so my post will be early. Sorry for going dark, but I’m back at it now!

I’ll see you all tomorrow! 😀 😀

Learning & Housekeeping!

Hey Everyone!

Not much going on here today. At work today I was shadowing a co-worker on how to replace and send back our old data collection terminals. the scanning guns tend to break and the terminals are older than dirt. From what I have heard on the grape vine, they are finally fazing them out. That is good and bad. Good for the reason that they are old and suck. they are also bad because until they replace them I have to learn all about them, which can seem like a waste of time. Before this said co-worker retires I have to learn that, how to create some sort of cards, and die cards. I already know her day to day and how to run it, which is what I’ll be doing tomorrow. I also have to take over ordering the toner for the as400 printers. With any luck her whole position will be dissolved. I will be taking over parts of it and another will take over the rest. I doubt that it will come with any raise, but in due time my work will be recognized.

As for tomorrow I probably will not be posting. I will be into work early to cover her. That means I get to leave at like 2-2:30, that’s the good part. 😀 Sad news, is that I have to come in early and won’t really be able to push out a post. 😦

I was able to make a decent amount of zucchini bread last night. It was tasty if you are wondering. I cleaned up around the house quite a bit last night. I made myself a bit of a housekeeper. I hit up some laundry, made dinner, did the dishes, fed the pets, cleaned up a bit and helped with the baby. It was very productive, too bad it will all be for nothing in a day lol.

This weekend the wife and I are going to a craft festival at our fair grounds. It happens every year and seems to get great results. There are vendors that make their own goodies, and their own handmade crafts. Everything is for sale, and most everything is of solid quality. Generally it is early enough that the weather is not to warm and not too cool. I’ll be sure to take a few photos. 😀

That is about it for me today, and again I’ll be back Friday! Hope to see you then. 😀 😀

Saturday Work Bee

Back Again!

After we left the Potter Fest we headed to the work bee!

My work for the after noon was to refinish these three chairs. I gave them a fresh coat of blue!

Here we have our solar lights getting a good charge, and the tent up for dining. We serve the food out of the garage all week.

Sunday we stayed home all day and hung out with our baby. My wife had to go back to work today so she wanted to just stay home and snuggle him, and that’s what she did! I woke up and eventually made a good hearty breakfast! I made us some scrambled eggs with pepper and onion, as well as bacon, bagels and homemade hash browns.

Lastly here is my boy on his first day going to his daycare! It has been a big day full of emotion.I dropped him off this morning and will see how it all went after work! 😀
