Coffee Talk!

Hey Everyone!

It is nice and early at about 7:35am, I just rolled into work and grabbed my coffee. I gotta let you know that I got super busy at work yesterday, and I will be very busy today, with any luck that will move my day along nice and fast.

Another thing you must know is that today is Friday the 13th. I personally don’t believe that a day can bring bad luck, but it is fun to dabble in the day. You can scour the internet and find people claiming origins back to biblical eras, but lets be real the only reason it blew up was due to the slasher movie “Friday the 13th” You had Jason Voorhees scaring the crap out of people, and made that movie a cult favorite for a decent audience.

Creepy right? Here are a few links to some further detailed explanations of the origins of the day (if you are interested):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friday_the_13th

https://www.history.com/topics/friday-the-13th

I will be going about my day as normal, but if something unlucky does happen, I may at least think twice about the day haha. 😀

Are you a believer of luck, good or bad? I mean at its simplest definition is is really anything that happens by chance, but do you believe that something like a day of the week labeled with a number that we have determined can bring different kinds of luck? Let me know below!

I’ll see you all again on my 30th birthday! (Monday) 😀 😀 I hope to see you then! 😀 😀

Amazing (Busy) Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

Back from another great and productive weekend! 😀 😀

Friday wasn’t fun by any means but I did get to cross something off the to do list. After work Friday I picked Everett up from his last day at daycare, went home and started working on our tub. I had to chip, pull, and chisel the old caulking out. That was the worst thing I have done in a long while, even worse than painting our fence. After that it was time to clean and re-caulk it. I tried for the first time the hand squeezed tubes of sealant, thinking it would be easier in that tight space, but I really didn’t like it. I went through 4 of the little things and at the end of the day would have liked more, but that amount at least filled the space back up. So on that note everything is looking good.

Saturday was our super busy day. We woke up, had breakfast and headed to my wife’s mom’s house. We got to her place and cooked out on the grill, fr lunch. Everett was having a great time under the patio umbrella.

1

My wife was invited as a guest to the wedding of her dad’s, wife’s, mother’s wedding. She was also there to take pictures of the event. At the same time I was heading out to my best friends 30th birthday party that his wife threw him. They happened to be the same time and in different directions, so I missed the wedding. I was able to catch up with him and his family for a couple of hours before heading back to the reception on the lake. There they had a beautifully decorated ball room on the ground level over looking part of the lake.

2

The dinner consisted of everything on my plate haha. Keep it short and sweet! 😀

3

Once it was time to leave the reception we stopped to visit my wife’s dad. He isn’t in the greatest health anymore and it has come on all of the sudden. His brother and sister in-law were there too. We hung out for a bit and then stopped back at her mom’s to get Everett. By the time we made it home again it was 10:30pm and we were beat!

As days go, Sunday was next on the list. We had 2 softball games in the middle of the day. In short we won both games pretty convincingly. I pitched the second game until it was a blow out and then we all swapped positions. I hit a big home run in the second game, but other than that a quit hitting day for me with only a .500 average.

4

When I got home I just stayed in my ball pants and mowed the grass, and trimmed the edges. Everett was outside with him mom enjoying the sun and the pool we inflated. When I got finished I just stripped down and laid in the pool. Then the randomness started. We wanted to head back to the local Ollie’s Bargain store to look around. We wanted to get something for the yard. We we did and headed home. More on that in a bit. My mother and wife decided to take the initiative and weed what they could of our massive garden. It is over run with that Morning Glory crap and it is everywhere.

9

So it all looks like that up top

610

They got this back half looking pretty good, but had to stop due to time and lack of room in the truck bed lol. If they could do this for another 3 solid days they could weed all of the flower beds in the front and back yard, if they hustled. 😀 In the mean time I was draining the pool to move it for our big purchase! I was in the background setting it all up.

7

We bought this nice offset umbrella for the yard as well as the bug net, four chairs, and glass table all for $200! 😀 I’m grinning at that price all day. 😀

Lastly a nice look from within. If you look close you can see Everett ‘helping’ in the last four pictures haha. He stood out there with them the whole time, just holding on to the wheel barrow.

8

Once I was done unloading the scraps at my parent’s house, we called it a night and here we are. It was a great weekend I would do it all over again in a heartbeat if given the chance. I hope you all had an amazing weekend as well. I’ll be back again tomorrow for another daily post, and hope to see you then! 😀 😀

Coffee Talk (Incident)

Hey Everyone!

Good Morning. I hope you all have had a bit of caffeine already! 😀

I’d like to talk about what was going on around us last night. It was pretty scary, and had the potential to be more dangerous than it was.

My wife, small child, and I were just hanging out in our living room when she noticed that there was a Sheriff’s truck with its lights on no more than three houses up from us, across the street. At this point it could be anything, really, so we didn’t worry about it. Once this started going on we knew something else was up:

There were about 5 local police cars there, as well as the Sheriff, and an EMS vehicle. The officers and deputies were carrying their side arms, shotgun, and/or a semi-auto rifle. By the time that we went out to see what was going on the whole ordeal was over, as far as public safety is concerned.

1

You can see that the guy towards the left is in handcuff and was escorted to the hospital for an evaluation before heading else where. Thank you scanner app on my phone for those details haha.

We caught wind that what happened was the guy in handcuffs, is the son to the lady in the light gray house. He broke into her safe and was going to kill himself. I’m not sure who alerted the authorities, but they did it quick and nothing happened. There were teens next door who were told to seek shelter before things quieted down.

This brings up plenty of concerns for citizens in this area. I’m not going to get political in this post, about guns, at all, because that isn’t the cause of these events it is the reaction. The real matter with this incident is that he was not in the right state of mind, and clearly needed/needs some help. I really hope that he does get the help he needs in any capacity and that he can live a long healthier life than, quite possibly, his lowest point as of yesterday.

We are in a very quiet area, with not a ton of crime near us, but raising a family in a world that seems to be falling apart is scary and this was just a reminder of that.

I just wanted to highlight what went on yesterday, since this is a daily blog. I’m not really meaning to make any statements, but rather just reflect on an event that occurred very close to us last night.

I hope you all are having a great Friday, I know I am! I hope to see you all back again Monday. Have a great weekend! 😀 😀

Successful Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

We had another very successful weekend visiting family. We traveled a bit and visit my wife’s dad and his family.

Before we left, my parents also came back from an early weekend trip to see Tim Tebow play in the AA league! They sat right behind first base and their dugout. It is always neat to see someone in action that was once at the top level of any sport. If you didn’t know he was a great college QB (football) and was drafted by the Denver Broncos where he on;y had a small impact. He is now playing baseball and enjoying that. Here he can be seen stretching out that hamstring haha.

1

We went shopping first to find outfits for that photo shoot we are doing later in May. Once we were done with that we met at her dad’s house. Here you can see that Everett is very interested in what his Uncle Remi is doing on the cell phone.

7

6

We attempted to get a couple family pictures, but the weather was not cooperating. It was freesing cold and starting to sleet. That combo with two small children was a no go. We tried it, but it really didn’t work haha.

Once we ditched that idea we sat down for some homemade dinner. It was great! We had a nice Cesar salad with a baked pasta dish. Here you can see Everett trying to eat food or the big fork haha.

5

We finished Saturday up with my wife getting highlights in her hair, compliments of her mother in-law.We stayed up later than we should have and didn’t get to bed until about midnight. Which may not see like a lot, but when your average bed time has become 9pm you are really draggin ass the next morning haha.

Sunday morning came all to quickly, and our boy can testify to that haha. Even though he did sleep for a while we was still tired, and fell a sleep on me and his grandpa.

4

Once we got up and had some breakfast and coffee we all got our hair cut. Literally everyone except the hair dresser herself got their hair cut lol.

So here is Everett sporting his new do! Gah he is handsome..

3.jpg

We hung out at the house most of the day and once it got nice out we headed to the porch. It was one of those days where it feels good to be in the sun and the breeze was just a nice way to keep the balance.

2

After we left we stopped to get some ice cream for the ride home and off we went.

Once we were home and mostly unpacked I got a strong urge to do stuff. Don’t ask me why! I got all the yard stuff out and cut the grass, ran the weed whacker, and blew away the clippings. I then started to hand paint some of the hard to reach areas of our fence, and then shop-vac’s up the leaves on our patio. It was a lot to do in a short time, but all is well that ends well.

Today I am back at work and getting in the swing of things.

I hope you all had a great weekend, and I’ll see you again tomorrow! 😀 😀

Holy Moly!

Hey Everyone!

Holy Crap!

I absolutely meant to have a post out yesterday, but I got hammered with stuff to do. Like really hammered. We have our annual profit sharing meeting today at 10:15am, so it only makes sense that all of the presenters haven’t finished their presentation… I was running back and fourth from our main building to our recreation hall, helping four different people with different aspects of their presentation. lol. One guy wasn’t done with his PowerPoint. One guy couldn’t get his videos to play. Another guy was using the wrong slide format. The President of the company didn’t know how to get his .gif the right way and wanted the screen to be bigger haha. It was a mess. So needless to say I was too busy to do anything during or after lunch.

In the morning while all was well, I was able to automate our list of PCs in the building a bit. I set up macros to retire old PCs with a click of a button. I also set up a button that brings up a form to add a PC to the active list, and then organized the workbook to look nicer. That part was fun.

Heck even this morning I have been hit with a curve ball! I walked into the building and was immediately called by one of the guys in accounting. His PC wouldn’t boot up and would flash a red LED. Doh! That means it was seeing an error on his mother board. This could be nothing, or it could be awful haha. Thankfully with a little tweak here and there I got it working again but that was scary for a Friday morning.

So I’m hoping the rest of my day just breezes by once we have our meeting. Most people just leave work after since they won’t get much done anyway. So it should be fairly quiet. Fingers crossed.

We will be traveling, yet again this weekend to go spend the weekend with my wife’s dad and his family. He is only 50 something, but has been diagnosed with Alzheimers :/ shitty I know. So he has been slowly losing it since I’ve known him. It has been getting worse by the day and progressing faster now, so we want to be sure to spend some time with him, as we don’t normally get to. Everett, and possibly myself, will get our hair cut by his wife. We both desperately need a trim. there son is only 2 or so years old so he will be fun to chase around as well. It’ll be a good weekend. Then it will be back to painting that fence of mine!

That is all for me this morning. I hope you all have had a less stressful couple days than I have! I’ll see you all again Monday (The last day in April) 😀 😀

Fun Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

So this weekend (more Saturday) didn’t go fully as planned but was still a good time. My wife was sick and it only got worse. The plan was to take her to her friends baby shower, then the dinos, lastly the photo shoot. What actually happened was, We got to the baby shower, only to hand over the gift and head to the walk in clinic. My wife found out that she had a sinus infection and needed an antibiotic. The time we had left between the two events we spent at her mom’s house trying to let her sleep, which didn’t work too well because she has crazy dogs. :/

When she got up and moving we headed to the dinosaur event. We knew Everett couldn’t really do anything, but we wanted to get him this exposure. I also want us to get used to planning trips like this so that we are used to it when he is old enough to do things. IT was a pretty neat event I took too many pictures so I’ll collage them below:

And for a special at the end…….I got a video of the crazy games that they kids were playing in the back. Enjoy this short bit of crazy!

We were able to make the photo shoot and I think it went well. It was an engagement shoot for a friend of hers. It was back in our college town, and that holds great memories for all of us. She now has to edit and get those pictures out, but good news is that with this payment she can buy her own domain. She is really working on getting her site built and her social media in working order. I’ll update you when I can.

Keeping on photography for a second, and mentioning something. My wife and I are taking a tip over memorial day week. We are heading to her Uncle’s house in Colorado! That being said, she is in a few photography groups and they sometimes swap sessions. She had interest from a photographer in Nebraska and it happens to be on our way to Colorado. If we can get it to line up we may stop in Omaha and exchange family photos sessions! That is pretty stinkin cool.

Sunday was a lazy sleepy, laundry, movie type of day. We watched three kids movies, napped, and did nothing haha. SO that is all from me.

I hope you all had a great weekend. I hope you enjoyed this post. Thank you for stopping by, I hope to see you back again tomorrow! 😀 😀

Ermehgerd!

Hey Everyone!

WOW! I can’t keep anything straight this week lol. No morning post as you probably realized. :/ I have again been running non-stop since I got in to work today. My co-worker was supposed to have the day off so I ran everything my self this morning, then he decided to come in the rest of the day haha. Don’t ask me why anyone would want to do that! 😀

However, it is Friday! I’m excited for the weekend and for the time off. Last night I was able to program my garage door remote and get that all working for my wife. She will be very pleased now that she/me doesn’t have to lift the door manually anymore. 😀

We are all starting to get over out colds and hopefully we can have a sickness free weekend! I let you in on our weekend plans yesterday so I guess there is no need to go over them again.

I do have a bit of a rant that I’m sure you can all get behind. This morning, before work started, I had some bills to pay. Who doesn’t right? I was sitting here going through each bill online and paying them off, when I got to my quarterly garbage bill. (Disclaimer: I know it is a small bill and only quarterly, but this is about the principle haha) I noticed that it went from $74 to $86. That caught my eye and I dug a little deeper. I looked at the bill itself and saw that on top of a site fee, which I always have, I had a “Fuel Fee” of over $11. I then looked at all of my past bills and this fee was no where to be found. So since I deemed this ridiculous, in my own head I called them the moment they opened!

Once I got a lady on the phone I asked if she could tell my why my bill was 11 dollars higher than normal for the same exact service. I wanted to give them the benefit in case it was for a real reason. She said that they increased the fuel fee as of April 1. (I made sure to bold that word, because that means that she is passing this off as a pre-existing charge when it is not one.) I went right in on her a bit and said something along the lines of: “This is a fee that hasn’t been on any of my other bills and is an increase of over 10% to my total bill.” She instantly told me that she would see what she could do to lower it for me and put me on hold lol. I may have scared her a bit. Also it is about 15% higher once you do the math. She got back on the phone and lowered the $11 charge to a $2 charge and I was content enough lol.

How these, companies we are forced to use, can get away with this crap is beyond me. There was no notice that anything was changing and with something changing that drastically you would think they have to send out some sort of notice. I get that this amount quarterly isn’t a big deal, but lets consider how I’m being raped by my student loans and then you will get the idea. They have increased their interest rate 7 times on me in the last year! I went from a $300 payment to $400 in a year, that’s nuts. I certainly didn’t get a raise to coincide with that increase. That is when things like this get bad. I just can’t stand that they can do what they want and I have to try and keep my head above water. For Shame! lol.

Anyway that is all. I don’t want to work myself up again lol. I hope you all have a great weekend and with any luck I’ll be back Monday! 😀 😀

HUMP DAY!

Hey Everyone!

It is hump day and pay day for me! I like getting paid, as do most people. I have been very busy today at work, and with my co-worker leaving to go on his annual golf trip I will be flying solo for the rest of the week. I have a full plate of things to work on and with any luck that will make the rest of the week fly by.

I have been thinking about calling my student loan companies and seeing if I get on an income based plan, if it may lower my payments. I have been making level payments for the past few years and it is pinching me pretty hard. If I can save a few hundred dollars a month that will only help my savings and or car buying process. They are a pain in the ass to call and talk to.  I’m not sure why all service people are terrible to talk to. Awful.

Everett kept us up literally all night last night. He had a fever and was coughing and thrashing around all night. We really got about an hour of sleep. At one point we fed him to see if that would help and he threw it all back up on me and the bed. It was just a really rough night. My wife kept him home today and we have an appointment after work to get him checked out. We both hate seeing him sick like this. Otherwise he is just as happy as ever, but since he has been like this he is more cuddly, so that my wife likes haha.

Another thing about work today is that I get my yearly review. I’m nervous, for really no reason. I think right after this I’ll get called into my boss’ office and get reviewed. A couple of weeks ago we had to compile a list of projects that we worked on or completed so he has that for reference. He will then bring up his review with his higher ups and that will determine where we fall for our profit sharing bonus and whether or not we get any raises. Let me tell you, I could really use a raise.

I forgot to mention anything about spring yesterday. I thought to myself why is that? I determined that since it was about 30 degrees outside and whipping wind, that it didn’t really feel like spring, so it just passed right through my mind haha.

That is all I have for you all today, I’ll be back again tomorrow! 😀 😀

Moving Forward!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend we went back, yet again to my wife’s grandparent’s house. She had a photo shoot late in the day, so we came up and made a day of it. I made a cost breakdown sheet of the floor plans we were looking at and contacted the sales rep to verify pricing, and time frames. This information was presented to her grandfather, so that we could all be on the same page as to what we were looking for and how much we were willing to potentially spend, or buy.

We are a little uneasy with what comes next. He wants to see if we would be able to get approved for the amount needed on our own, which is what we wanted to avoid if at all possible. Only because we don’t want some unforeseen, bad thing to happen and leave us with two mortgage payments.  We would not be able to pay both. The idea is that he is going to deed us the land, gift us $25,000, and he will pay the mortgage if there is any over lap between selling our house and that one being complete. This is all great in theory, I just hope it plays out that way. I’m not a fan of uncertainty, at least not on this scale. We have worked hard to have what we do, and if we were to get stuck with two payments for whatever reason that would ruin us for a while.

On the other hand, if we are unable to get the loan even with all the help he would then resort to putting it down himself and letting us buy it from him. We still would rather this method, but if he wants us to try the other way first we really can’t argue. So it seems like things are moving in the direction that we want them to. I’m not sure of any time frames, but we were told not to wait if we wanted it all to be complete by next winter.

So it begins.

Like I said before, my wife met with her client around sundown for better lighting, and she took some nice engagement photos. We came home right after that and relaxed the rest of the evening.

Sunday was a day of house chores, mainly laundry. I sat down, while folding laundry and watched the Netflix series “Everything Sucks” It was really good! I went in to it not knowing what to expect. I thought that I would turn it off after one episode, instead I watched the whole season haha. There are no super famous actors, which I love, and it tackles some tough issues, that highschoolers are facing today. If you have a chance I would recommend watching it.

Today is the first day back at work since the time change….and it sucks. I’m sure I’ll get used to it soon, but blah for now.

I hope you all had a great weekend, and I’ll see you tomorrow! 😀 😀

Exciting News & Eagles!

Hey Everyone!

I had a late night, for myself. I had my typical Masonic meeting, that went fast, and for good reason. We sped through what we needed to get done, so that we could enjoy the evening’s program. My cousin, Mike, got a state game warden to come give a presentation on the Bald Eagle, the the rehabilitation in our area.  It was really informative and fun to listen to. Here is a link to the live feed of a nest cam in PA. As I am watching there is an Eagle in there right now, it is really neat. GO HERE!

After the presentation, we had brownies and ice cream for desert. I was sitting with my cousin and the game warden and we had some good conversation. By the time I got home it was past 10pm, so Everett was asleep, and my wife was about the same haha. She had mentioned that she had to talk to me about something , but it had gotten too late.

This morning she asked if I was ready to talk a bit about it. I said I was, and she said that her grandfather called her and said that he was finding a way to build a house for us! I still want to confirm everything before I get too excited and nervous, but that is a very different story than when we talked to him last weekend. He wants us to get a firm estimate on the house we would want and the layout. She asked if he was aware that we would only be able to buy it from him when our house sold, and he seemed to be ok with that. So fingers crossed this may work out well. We will have to get a price and layout to him as soon as we can to get things rolling. The moment we actually break ground I will let my boss know that we will be moving, around a certain date, estimated completion kind of thing. From there I will scout for a job and hopefully they will allow me to start when the house is complete. If  they won’t and I still want that job I’ll let him know and have to put in my 2 weeks notice. It may be sooner and it may be later but that will play out. That is the scary part for me is leaving my job that I like, and the people somewhat high and dry. I’m not sure they would replace me until I left which would be terrible timing because our other co-worker is retiring.

I’ll keep you posted when I can. Work has been busy again today. I set up two full computers for people and deployed one of them. The other will go out tomorrow. Our conference room upgrade is still going smoothly as well. I was told to get a list of projects I was involved with this last year, for my annual review. I normally pass with flying colors and hope to again. If I do stay for some reason, this will help determine what I get in a profit sharing check and whether or not I get any raises. I really should track these as I do them haha. I’m sure it will be fine.

That is all for me today, I’ll try to see you bright and early for a “Coffee Talk!” See ya! 😀 😀
