What A Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was a fun one for me. I didn’t just sit at home the whole time and wish the weather was better.

We were trying to dodge the Flu though, and I think my wife lost that battle. I for one, am still doing fine for the most part. I have a stuffy head, but she is feeling all the aches and pains. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

We can start off of Saturday! I woke up bright and early and got ready, like normal, because….I had a Masonic seminar most of the day. It was about an hour and a half away and my cousin and one other guy were going with. We left our city at about 7am and teh meeting started at 9am. I corresponded with my wife’s grandpa, so I could drop offย  our documents for taxes. Two birds. One stone. ๐Ÿ˜‰ We arrived a bit early, like you should, and signed in. We continued down aย  line of tables and got our folder with information for the day and then the good stuff. Next came the doughnuts and coffee! I had too many doughnuts and that is all I’ll say, but they were good.

The meeting was for people looking to move through the ranks in lodge. It covered everything, in basic form, you would need to run a lodge as a Worshipful Master for a whole year. We were able to asks questions in an open format and have a couple good conversations. There were mentors and District Deputy Grand Masters there from all over the state. So, lots of knowledge there for the picking! These type of events are fun, because you can really get a sense of how big the organization is and how big of an impact they make on the community. For lunch we had some homemade sloppy Joe’s, egg salad sandwiches, veggies, soup, and apple pie. Afterwards we had a presentation of organ donation and blood donations. As a Mason, signed up for the blood club, you are able to ensure that if you ever need blood that we will get it. This is of course after insurance pays for what they can. It also covers your immediate family, so that is very nice to be a part of. We finished up our little lecture and were out of there around 1:30pm. We waited around a bit and my wife’s mom brought over some frozen goods we should have had the weekend we didn’t go back. I guess you can retract my previous statement and say we killed three birds with one stone. ๐Ÿ˜€

Sunday we wanted to get out a little bit since, other than my meeting, we had been cooped up for a while. Everett has gotten over the Flu and we figured some fresh are was much deserved. The weather was somewhat chilly but it felt good to me, with the appropriate attire. So we went for our first walk all winter! We made sure to bundle Everett up as best we could:

6

We were able to sit him up more since he is bigger. He seemed to like being able to see more. I was wondering how much he would remember since developmentally he hadn’t really been on a walk in months. He can now see further and start to understand his surroundings. We also had to stop and take a nice family photo along the way:

Everett didn’t seem overly thrilled but I assure you he had a good time. Our dog was with us too but good luck getting her to hold still!

After our walk we watched a movie, which was not particularly good. I would have reviewed it but I am fairly busy at work today. I can tell you it was Spectre, the James Bond flick. I know it is a couple years old, but I can tell you that IMDB.com has it at a 6.8 I would go lower than that. It was very disappointing in my eyes. The story was there but just about everything turned me off from it. Either way it was nice to stop doing everything and watch a movie. The rest of the day my wife edited some pictures, Everett played beside us in the attic, and I was able to get a few games in. Over all it was a good weekend.

Today I am jam packed with things to do. I have to collect a urine sample from our female dog, and get it tested again to make sure her UTI is gone. Then it is off to Everett’s nine month appointment. This is where he will get a ton of shots and be mad at us for a short time haha. By the way….Everett is nine months old, I failed to mention that last Thrusday! Woo!

That is all for me today, I hope you all had a great weekend, and I’ll see you back again tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Follow Up Appointment!

Hey Everyone!

I’m back with a little more content than yesterday haha. Last night, right after work, we took Everett to his follow up appointment. Now this was all of our first time going to this pediatrician, so we weren’t sure what to expect.

We pull up, after the 30 minute drive, and see a pretty normal somewhat small building. Once inside it really opened up. That place looked huge! You are met with a large purple waiting room that is divided for sick children and well children, which I though was really neat. They try to take an extra measure to keep the sick kids away from potential healthy ones. The waiting room of course had some toys, but also had neat things like large front wheeled bicycles hanging from the ceiling. Really cool. We registered in no time and went back shortly after. The hallways are lined with life size stuffed animals and more cool things. It was a very open concept of space with most people working right on that large hallway floor. Another thing to mention is that they are open until 8pm that is unheard of where we live. We are able to get out of work make the 30 minute drive and still be there with time for an hour long appointment. We were there an hour, and most times that would bother me, but it was no big deal. It went by in the blink of an eye because the doctor was very engaging and was helping us actually understand what was going on in the body of our child. She was very relate able, with three boys of her own, as well as knowledgeable. I really think we have found our forever pediatrician.

On to his appointment! We were told he is still breathing fine and that his croup seems to be getting better on its own, which is great. Once we told them that he wasn’t taking his steroids because he was throwing up she said not even to bother with them. Fun fact, I guess those steroids could stunt his growth, which we were unaware of. He is already going to be a shorty, we don’t need to aid that haha. To our surprise she did see that he may have an ear infection starting so she got us an antibiotic. Since Everett tends to get yeast infections while on antibiotics they gave us some sample boxes of probiotics to see if that would help stop the yeast infection. Again everything was just so well delivered that we didn’t even realize we were there so long. We also had them check him for the flu and RSV, both came back negative so we were good there too. ๐Ÿ˜€

Today he is back at the babysitters so we will see how that goes. I have been pretty busy at work today, unlike yesterday. We have had a printer that just up and stopped working. It is networked in and just quit. We have two patches, one on each end and a full run from the wall by the printer to the patch panel. That makes for 3 lines to test. Well….all the lines except the run tested fine, so we got out the super detailed testers and tested the whole thing again. this let us know that approximately 318 feet in on the orange wire there was a disconnect. Once finding that we took a shot in the dark and cut a particular section that could be the problem area and made new ends for the cable. Sure enough it worked. So we are back up and online with that printer. Time spent was probably 2 hours this morning. It feels good to get some really troubleshooting in.

Today was my pay day! Woo, that is until I realize it is all gone ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I paid off most of my bills, then my student loans, Everett’s college fund, my retirement, and have about 20 bucks for gas. R.I.P. my pay check, gone too soon. XD XD

That is about it for me today. I hope you all have a great hump day, and I’ll see you again tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Happy Baby!

Hey Everyone!

I just got done working in the shop all morning. We had 14 cables ran and they all needed ends and wall plates. I will try to keep this post short for my own sake, since while working in the shop I cut my middle finger and it is all taped up. I have typed 6 words incorrectly just in this paragraph because of it haha.

Last night we gave Everett some pizza crust while we were eating and he seemed to like it.

Told ya so haha. Such a cutie!

After we got him all cleaned up, and in his jammies he rode his train that his grandparents got for him. We have to still hold him up but he was loving every second of it.

Insert Title Here…

Hey Everyone!

Today has been pretty busy with my co-worker being in Florida. I have had a large number of small fires to put out around the shop and offices today. At this point in time things have come to a lull. Speaking of my co-worker though, he text me something interesting yesterday. He said he had a business proposition for me. At this point it could be anything, knowing him. He proceeded to tell me that the church that he and his family attends, which is also a catholic school, was large enough to warrant some IT support. He was going to possibly do it on the side, and would like to rope me in to do it with him. I think I like that idea. I worked in a high school tech building for a summer and really enjoyed it. I can only assume that they would want help with laptops and smart boards. They may even want some cable run throughout the building, who knows. But I can always use any extra money that I can get. It would be fun bottom line. He said he would tell me more about it when he comes back, which will be tomorrow. I’ll keep you updated.

With hunting season ever approaching, I can’t help but find myself watching videos about butchering your own venison. This is of course assuming that I get a deer this year. We normally take it to a local butcher, but he is old and has had a few major health problems since last year. On another downer note the guy my dad wanted to go to shot himself two days ago. So it is safe to say he won’t be doing it either. Enough about that bad stuff! I found a great You Tuber by the name of Scott Rea his channel can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCs_t4Om5siqqFtVGd639Z0Q . I don’t know about you but he isn’t the kind of person I would look at and think “He is a butcher.” He is however and hes damn good. If you want to butcher anything he would be the man to watch. Again I like his videos on deer since that is mostly what I hunt. I would love to do the work myself this year if I get the chance to. It seems like you can get more out of the animal if you do it your self. Less would go to waste which I love.

Last night I downloaded an app called ‘Animation Throwdown’ It is essentially a watered down Magic the gathering, and a closer rival to Hearth Stone . Except the cards are all Adult Swim-ish character related. They use shows like the Simpsons, family Guy, Futurama, Kill of the Hill, and American Dad. It is interesting to say the least. They have a few cool features, like being able to research combos for cards and playing different game modes. If you are into that style of play its worth a look. It will pass the time that’s for sure. I quickly added two game play videos of it on my YouTube channel that can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCng86RsvYqkXHOr4o53ClQg . And it was just recorded with my phone’s built in recording software so it isn’t the best but it does get the job done haha.

I guess I’ll quit rambling. Tonight we have our home inspection so fingers crossed. Tomorrow I have a district wide masonic practice at our home lodge, so that will be fun. I’ll see you all back here tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
