Thursday Goings On!

Hey Everyone!

We are certainly making our way through the week.

I have been busy today helping set up multiple stand up desks for the people at work. I am also starting back up running the daily routine on the database side of things here as well. It is a big change from what I normally do, and it is very tedious. I would like to help minimize it and automating it as best I can.

The rain here has finally let up, and the sun is back out! πŸ˜€ I’ll be able to mow my grass tonight as long as it stays nice. I haven’t been able to mow for a little bit due to weather and the ball tournament.

My golf outing is this Saturday. I’m pretty excited to golf again. I haven’t been since my brother’s bachelor party, which was a while ago. We are in teams of four and doing a scramble. We will be doing a full 18 holes and having dinner after. The company is paying for most of it. The cost for each individual is only $22.50 for 18 holes, a cart, and dinner. That is a damn good price! I hope I do well. I have been thinking about getting into golf, but only if I have a way of doing it often enough. Either way this Saturday will be a fun one! πŸ˜€

I’ll have to get back to work, we are still short staffed this week. I’ll be back again tomorrow! I hope to see you then. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Keep On Rollin’!

Hey Everyone!

Last night I met with a guy who helped run the gas plant that needed some IT help. I wan’t able to fix anything last night but I was able to determine what I thought could be done to help. I’m still in the dark on a ton of things that they have going on, but I have a direction for the issue that I saw. They have a machine that measures the amount of certain gases in other gases? I guess? It is pretty cool either way. It isn’t communicating with the PC that runs the software. I believe that they are clearly not on the same network based on their IP addresses and therefore cannot communicate. Coming in late to the game I have no idea how or why this is. I have them calling the company to confirm, and left myself open as a contact for further issues. I hope I can help a few more times.

This morning work as been a bit hectic. I have been tasked with taking care of all of the ‘dummy’ terminals in the shop, since our co-worker retired. Well, its a bit of a mess. I ran around all morning getting the make, model, serial number, status, and location of all terminals and scanners. It was not terribly fun, in any way. I have since entered them in a simple Excel sheet to keep track. It will have to be updated every time we send one out, replace one, or get new ones. After this I’ll run over to our other shop and do the same.

Tonight we will have our first company softball practice that huge softball tournament. I am excited to see if we get a decent turn out. I’ll be pitching so I’ll be sore tomorrow, after pitching to, potentially 20 people. With a bit of luck we can determine who is good at what and who can hit. If we hold a couple more practices before the tourny we should have a pretty darn good team. Our company hasn’t come close to placing and getting a trophy for years now, so it would b nice to bring something back! πŸ˜€

That is all for me today! I’ll be back again tomorrow, and hope to see you then. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What A Day!

Hey Everyone!

Let me run down a recap of the rest of my Monday. I left work early to have enough time to gather my dog’s urine and take it to the Vet for further testing. She had a UTI and I wanted to make sure that it was all cleared up and that she was good to go! To be short, they called back and said she was all clear. Again I took her on the leash and slid a dinner plate under her haha. I scared her a little bit this time so she stopped going. I had to transfer the urine into a baggie because I didn’t have a different small container with a lid. It took some real skill to do all of this, I’m sure you can imagine haha.

I was all ready to head to the Vet and my wife had picked Everett up for his 9 month checkup. The timing was great. I was ready to go, and so was she. We grabbed Everett and headed out. We hit up the Vet first and then headed to his appointment. We made it there with about 30 seconds to spare. The called his name and back we went.

The appointment didn’t really go so well, unfortunately. :/ He only needed one shot, so that was good, but he seemed to be in rough shape other wise. He has another yeast infection on his bottom, and a double ear infection. This after he just got over the Flu. They gave us a referral to meet with an ear, nose, and throat doctor in Buffalo, for tubes. We have time to decide if he really needs them or not, but we may as well get the process started. After the appointment we had to grab some groceries. We hit up the local Wegmans and had some subs there, before shopping for food. That way we didn’t shop on an empty stomach. Everett was having the best time, because for the first time he was able to sit in the cart and see everything.

17-korea-unified-flag-olympics.w710.h473.jpg

He is still a bit tiny so we watched him closely but he did great. We finished grabbing groceries and headed home. Once we were back in town we had to pick up his two prescriptions at the local CVS. He needed stuff for his ears and cream for his baby butt.

By the time we really got home, it was about bead time. We unpacked, and put everything away, and that was that.

One thing I forgot to mention, was that Everett also bonked his head at daycare and had a nice bruise on his head. I just told her that he is now crawling and pulling himself up. I did all of this so that she would pay attention to him and make sure he wasn’t doing anything that was going to result in something like that. :/ I guess he pulled up on a toy and was bouncing around, while holding on to it. He fell forward and hit his face. He also got a bloody nose…DOH! I just wish they did a better job at watching him. Sadly there is nothing or no one in the area willing to watch kids this young. So again, our options are more than limited. I feel trapped a bit, because I have to have child care, but the care isn’t up to snuff. This then leads to us not feeling comfortable with him being there for safety reasons, but having no where to go.

We will see how today goes when I pick him up.

That is all from me today! I hope you are having a great Tuesday. I know I am taking some time to chill after yesterday’s all day affair haha.Β  I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Busy Day Today!

Hey Everyone!

I have been super busy with work today, which is welcomed any time. Just a quick run down of things I’ve done will follow. I have corrected a couple networking errors, set up a Sales Department Kiosk PC, had a meeting with Purchasing about the transfer of one of their employees and the addition of a new one, set up a laptop for said transferring employee to use while training, helped set up a new printer in our other building, fielded a few tech help questions, and solidified the use of the new Debit/Credit form I created. Now if that is too large of a sentence, good! That was a ton of stuff all in the matter of a couple hours. It doesn’t end here either. When I get done writing this I’ll be off to finishΒ  setting up that printer for a few people, as well as creating another PC for the new employee coming Monday.

Last night my wife and I had a little discussion about the home situation. Her mother gave us some insight that, having one built or placed on the property by her grandparents is not out of the question. To me that is a good sign. We just have to voice the question out right and see where we land. He may straight up say no. He may straight up say yes. He maaayyy say yes with a stipulation that we build rather than place one down. He mayΒ  want to pick his own contractor, or have say in what is built (which we don’t want). there are still a bunch of unknowns but for now I like the fact that they just haven’t said no yet haha.

Everett has his 8 month checkup today right after work, so I’ll pick him up from day care and grab his mama, and be on our way. I am excited to see how a routine checkup goes there. Again we are at the new pediatrician, that we love so far. We have a few questions about his diaper rashes and what not but other than that it should be pretty straight forward.

I have finished season four of Game of Thrones, and still love it dearly. I will not spoil anything, just in case there are people new to the series, like I was. It is just amazing how they can keep the intensity up while having a great story line.

That is all for me today, I hope you have a great Tuesday! I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Happy New Year! Baby Photo Shoot!

Hey Everyone!

I hope you had a happy and safe New Years Eve. With any luck we can carry it on through the year.

I don’t tend to make a big deal out of starting another calendar year, since nothing really changed and none of it really makes a difference, but it is nice to get together with family to ring it in. We went to my brother’s house and played a few games and almost made it to midnight. Our boy woke up, in not a great mood, about 20 minutes before. We packed our stuff and went home. Once we were home we turned on the TV and to our surprise we didn’t miss the ball drop. Just barely. We watched the countdown, kissed, and went to bed haha.

What did you do for New Years Eve?

My post is late, yes I know. Our ISP had some outages today and that killed our network. So for the last couple of hours our connection has been erratic. I wan’t sure I could post, but know I can. For that here is the mini photo shoot my wife had with Everett to close out the post, and start the year off right. (She is talented)

Plumbing Fun!

Hey Everyone!

I’m sorry for not having a post out yesterday, I was called just around lunch to go meet my plumber! I was told that they would call me with a time frame in the morning, of course that didn’t happen. Instead I received a call telling me that they were going to be at my house in 15 minutes. It was very short notice and I wasn’t able to get anything out.

That being said there were some wins and losses yesterday with the plumbing. I called them about three separate things. One being a PVC pipe leaking behind a wall where they had a shutoff valve. The second being a leaky supply line to the basement toilet. the third being that our system minorly backs up when the upstairs toilet is flushed.

He grabbed his snake and what not and started in on the main drain in the bathroom.

20171017_134712

After about a half hour he stopped and informed me that the trap in that main line was broken somewhere and full of mud. Somehow water is still making its way though, but it’ll need fixed sooner than later.

20171017_141646

That is mud, I promise! That is a major project and I need to talk to our insurance rep to see if I can get it covered at no cost to us for the repair. I would really hate to pay out of pocket for this. It would put at least our driveway paving on hold for a little while, which I don’t want.

He did fix the leaky pipe, with this piping.

20171017_150045

Before it had a shutoff valve, and now it doesn’t, but what do I care? The main shut off is right beside it. I’m pretty sure it is a hot line going to….well we couldn’t figure out where it goes haha. I didn’t get a picture, but he replaced out supply line to the toilet and now our floor is dry all the time. Yippie!!

Our plumber was there for about three hours, and was very friendly. They are going to get back to me about an estimate to fix the trap that is broken, and in the mean time I’ll just wait to get the bill… :/

Speaking of all of this broken stuff, our washing machine was “fixed” but it didn’t solve our issue. The appliance guys also quoted my timing piece for the dryer at $110, which I guess is pretty standard. He will be coming back to look at everything once the part comes in.

It was a pretty hectic day with potential bad news, if we have to pay for that pipe. The good news is that I got paid to day, so of course I am already out of money haha. Oh well, it gives me some breathing room for a few days. I’ll take it. πŸ˜€

That is all from me on this fine Wednesday, I hope to see you all back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Busy Day At Work!

Hey Everyone!

Today started slow, and picked up rather quickly. I have been working on setting up a couple PC’s for the ladies in our sales department. I got in the zone and lost track of time setting them up. Before I knew it they were both done. I was installing one and that took me well into my lunch break. Yes I could have stopped and gone back to it but I was moving and didn’t want to haha. I ate my lunch late and went back to set up the other one. Until just now!

That is all that has been going on today.

Last night I was able to read a bit further in my book, Warcross. I have to say I still love the idea of this book and most of the story. I have come across three things that don’t add up and to me that can really put a sour taste in your mouth. I’m going to read the rest of it to see if any of it makes sense later, but I’m doubting it. I would love to be able to ask the author how some of these simple things could have been looked over? It bothered me so much that I downloaded a note taking app and documented the chapter and pages of the mismatching information haha, I think I’m insane lol. For a person who barely ever reads, this is a bit of a disappointment. Does that stuff bother you guys? Just curious.

That is all for me. I will go back to my hectic day! I hope you enjoy the rest of your day and I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Prepping For A Yard Sale

Hey Everyone!

It was a toss up yesterday, on whether or not I would mow the lawn or go to my parent’s house and set stuff out for a yard sale. As you could tell from the title I didn’t mow the lawn!

After work we met at home and grabbed the baby and the dog, and headed over. They only live a literal block away. A little back story, we lived with them for two years while my wife finished grad school and I got established at my current career. We stored a ton of stuff in their basement, andΒ  now was the time to go through most of it. We took what we wanted back to our house, but the majority of it could be sold. They are having a sale this weekend and I really hope they can get rid of most, if not all of it. I don’t even care if they give stuff away at this point. The rest of the stuff, that is ours, in their basement is garbage. It can be thrown out or burned in their yard.

We had a ton of nice wall decorations, that no longer fit the look of our house. I had an old bass guitar amp in there that should be good to go. Everything else is typical of a normal yard sale.

That now just leaves us with a closet full of stuff we want. Once that comes to our place we will be fully out of theirs haha. We have some bigger stuff like my gun safe in there, and I’ll need help with that.

Today work has been steady. I have been putting out a few new computers, and running into some weird issues with a new piece of software that is out of my control. After work I will most likely mow the lawn tonight, if it doesn’t rain. Who knows?!? I don’t really want to tonight.

That is it for me today, we are all feeling better and working on getting our colds fixed up. I’ll see you all tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Animal Park & Weekend Update!

Hey Everyone!

I’m sorry for not getting a post out yesterday. We had something exciting happen! My wife entered a contest a while back for some Zac Brown Band tickets. In short she won! this being said I had to leave work at noon, pick up the baby, and drive a ways to go pick them up.

First I have to update you on the softball tournament. I hate to say it but we did terrible and I played like crap. I ended up getting frustrated with my personal performance and didn’t have a good time. Once we were out of the tournament I was able to calm down and enjoy watching my brother’s team fight their way to win second place! That is pretty exciting. The food was great and the weather was cooperative.

Back to leaving yesterday. We decided that if we had to make a round trip of 5 hours worth of driving, that we better make it worth our time. We went to an animal park and had a blast. One with the pictures! (This place is amazing)

We were able to feed the camels, water buffalo, deer, elk, zebras, ostrich, and more!

wagon (1)wagon (6)wagon (5)wagon (23)wagon (17)20170821_153815

I had to fight with this camel for my food bucket, as he tried to steal it out of the truck haha.

Above you will notice that most animals don’t have their upper teeth for safety.

Kangaroo Jack, just chilling waiting for the rain.

One more for fun! Feeding this guy was pretty scary. He went in hard and headbutt my hand each time. lol

After we went and picked up the tickets to the concert and went home. I had little time to get over to the funeral home, when we got in to town. My second family growing up had a loss in the family. We were instructed to wear bright clothing and make it a celebration. She was an amazing lady and she will be sorely missed.

That is all for today, again sorry I missed the post yesterday! I’ll see you back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Busy Work Day & 1 Month Old Baby!

Hey Everyone!

I have a short amount of time to post and I am late already. I have been swamped with work today and that is a good thing! I cam in at my normal time, and started setting up the new PCs I got in the mail a day or so ago. While doing that and running updates I got pulled away to help rearrange someones office. They need me there to make sure that everything gets unplugged correctly and plugged back in the right way. I was helping a fellow co-worker through my lunch break, with a parts list for a PC build for his kid. He has a son that has saved up enough money to buy his own gaming PC. He wants to surprise him and throw in a couple hundred dollars more, as a good gesture and reward, for managing his money so well. His son built a complete parts list and he gave it to me to look over and change since he added more money to the budget. I can say that I have spec-ed out a pretty good full size gaming rig for the budget of $1200. His kid will love it! Later this afternoon I have spent my time helping one of our summer design engineer inters with his issues. He is having problems with his Auto CAD and Inventor programs crashing. It has happened a few days in a row and twice today, so it was time to do something about it. I researched a few things and think I found a solution to his problem. I reverted his PC to use Direct X 9 instead of 11, deleted the junk out of his temp folder, updated is graphics driver while disabling the on board Intel one, and changed a series of variables within the programs themselves for better performance. I know this all sounds like gibberish to you guys but it was a fun day filled with technical issues that really got my brain moving!

In other news I am feeling much better, even though I never got any answers from the doctors I spoke with. I won’t be feeling good when my $150 bill from the ER comes through though :/ the weather here is crappy, and I can’t really do anything so I, will continue to take it easy. I mowed my grass yesterday when it was still nice out so that is a plus!

My baby boy Everett is officially 1 month old today! Dear god, they aren’t kidding when they say it fly’s by! I can’t imagine what I’ll think when he turns 18 and leaves haha. He is working on the sleep thing, and has been working out those neck muscles. We are still camped out in the living room because it is easier for my wife in the middle of the night.Β  That and my dog peed all over our mattress and ruined it! We aren’t very fond of her at this moment haha.

That’s all for me, I’m sorry this is jumbled and ran together. Please forgive me! I’ll be back tomorrow, and I hope to see you all then. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
