Around The Water Cooler!

Hey Everyone!

A bit late today but never the less, I am here.

I had a few unexpected events happen today. First I was asked by my coworker to go give blood. It was out of the blue and I hadn’t done it in a while so I figured, why not? So around 10:45am we left the office ans went and gave blood across town. It was at his wife’s place of business so it was laid back and kinda fun.

Later, after we arrived back at the office, I was invited to go out to lunch with one of our vendors. This particular vendor comes from an hour and a half away and hits multiple client spots all in the same day. This time he was taking us out to lunch and just chatting about our current projects. We went to a nice little dive in town that I had never eaten atΒ  before, surprisingly. I ordered a turkey panini with cajun french fries. It was really good! I’m going to have to take my wife there some time soon.

In other news Everett woke up today not feeling well, I guess. My wife called me and told me that he was just laying and staring. He wasn’t very active and looked like he wasn’t having a good morning. 😦 He seemed fine last night and slept all night without any issues. She thinks that he may be just teething and we both hope it is nothing more. I just text her and she said he was playing a bit more than he was, so hopefully he is feeling better.

This weekend we have a few things to do around the house, like taking down our pool and possibly our umbrella in the yard. Saturday we have my niece’s second birthday party, down at the park where we play softball. It should be a good time, and if Everett is up for it, he can play with his cousins. I’m not sure if we have anything going on Sunday, but we may go work on the cabin some more to try and button things up for winter.

That is all from me today. I hope you all have had a great Friday, and I hope you have a great weekend! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Projects, Picnic, Softball, Blood Drive!

Hey Everyone!

I had a super busy weekend, but a successful one! There were a few minor set backs that were weather related so I had to find the best way to still get everything I wanted done. Over the course of the weekend I was able to fully redo the paint and carpeting on my porch and stairs. I have a few really neat side by side pictures below:

First is the bare wood floor after I ripped up the old stuff and after I put down the new!

Next we have the terrible cemented stairs before and after painting. I know they suck but I hate cement and I was sick of it haha.

Lastly we have the carpet down the stairs covering up the blemishes and protecting the stairs from future weather.

I may go back through and paint over the areas where the glue is showing, but I’m not sure yet. It will probably chip off easy enough once it is super dry .

Saturday was our company picnic. We stopped off at a local drive in diner, and ate with my wife’s grandma and mother. They have great milkshakes and well, everything.

From there it was off to the amusement park. We brought the baby, so some of the people I work with could see him for the first time. We also wanted to see how he would handle traveling a bit farther than normal. If you were wondering it went smoothly! Here are just a few shots of the park:

Of course, we had to hit up my favorite ride. The train! I don’t ride rides so the train gives me all the excitement I need haha.

Sunday was of course Father’s Day. This year I am a father, which feels super weird. My wife got me this awesome key chain. It is a really neat idea.

I actually woke up Sunday and finished the carpeting on the stairs first, then went and played softball. Our games sucked. We played like crap in the field and had too many errors. We lost the first game very convincingly. The second game was against arguably the best team in the league and we should have beat them but we gave it away. That game ended with a score of 32 to 31 in the bottom of the 7th. :/

After ball my brother and I got cleaned up and headed to my parents house to celebrate the day further. We had burgers and hot dogs on the grill. The two cousins were there together so we had a few pictures.

It was a great weekend overall. We had some heavy storms Sunday and rain on Friday but it was all good in the end!

Today At work we have a blood drive. I totally forgot all about, thats why this post is a bit late. I signed up to give double reds. I was surprised when the girl hooking me all up was a girl I went to high school with! I haven’t seen her in a full 10 years, so it was nice catching up with her while I was over there.

That’s all from me folks! I hope you had decent weather and were able to enjoy the weekend to the fullest extent. I may or may not be on here tomorrow. I come in to cover someone elses shift and have to be here at 6am blah! We will see. Have a good one! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

House & Blood Drive

Hey There Everyone!

We are closing in on getting a house! We are going to meet with the realtor today at about 4 pm. We have an accepted offer and are moving forward. This is all super new to us and we are excited to get it all done with and be in a space of our own. I am anxious to see what all the payments will be, I’m not a fan of not knowing certain things. One of them being prices and costs of items. It is a house on the North side of town just by the outskirts. It is small but they use the basement and attic space so it seems much larger. There is a deep one stall garage and a decent back yard. We were looking for a bigger yard and maybe a two stall garage but this will work well. It is a 4 bed, 2 bath house which is great. the best part is that the house is finished. There is no need for anything other than paint on the inside, for now. We would like to fence in the yard and maybe pave the driveway but who knows.

I gave blood today at work. We have a local blood bank come every so often and I make sure to go every time. Knowing that you can single handedly save three lives just by donating is a great feeling. I have been donating since high school pretty regularly. So that is about 10 years now. I had it timed just right so when I got done it would be time for lunch haha. My planned worked amazingly.

I just received two new PC here at wok and need to get working on them. One will be replacing my own. Hopefully nothing goes wrong. I don’t think it will and I don’t think it will effect my posting but in case you don’t hear from me I may have blown everything up haha.

Again I am leaving work early to work with our realtor so this is a quicker post. If you have any advice for us as we move forward in buying a house it is welcomed. I’ll be sure to see you all tomorrow. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Truck Bed, Blood Drive, & Thoughts

Good Wednesday afternoon.

As you many of you may know I left work early yesterday, partly to enjoy the nice weather and to paint the sides of my truck bed. I have a 2000 Chevy s10 so it is a relatively small job. What makes it kind of a pain in the ass is that I’m doing it all by hand. That doesn’t mean an electric hand sander, it means a piece of sandpaper in my hand. It takes so long to get the paint scuffed up enough to apply the paint. It is very rewarding though, it makes me proud to look at it and know that I have logged so many man hours painting it. I have focused on more random parts of my truck than any other vehicle I have ever driven. The only thing left to do is the door sides, and front bumper. One more ‘session’ and it should be all done. As a reminder I am painting it with a rough bed liner. It is a matte finish with a rough finish that protects the vehicle from dents and dings. It took me about 4 hours to sand down the two sides, clean off all the paint dust, paint it, wait, and put on a second coat. Since I am using a spray can and since the paint is rough and goopy, I have to make sure that I use all of it because if I don’t it will most likely clog up. So what ever was left over in the last two cans I used to touch up spots in the actual bed and on the grill.

Today at work we had a blood drive. I have given blood many times before so this isn’t anything new for me. I was all set to go at 10:30am and even had a conversation with a co worker about how I hope I don’t forget to go over at the right time. Well once I was 20 minutes late I got paged by our nurse haha. I got caught up and totally forgot to go. It was all OK I just went over late and did everything like normal. Everything went off without a hitch. My levels were good, and so was my temperature. They made sure I wasn’t infected with that sweet Zika virus and I was off to the races. It only took about ten minutes for me to fill the pint sized bag. The needles don’t bother me but I still don’t like to watch them jab me. I grabbed some snacks afterwards and headed back to work. Which didn’t take long since it was in the building across the street. If you are able to give blood and have no real reservations about it you should. It really doesn’t take long and generally doesn’t hurt. The feeling that you get from knowing that you personally have helped or will help dozens of people is an amazing feeling.

As far as my thoughts for to day go, I am on an automotive kick. I still want to use my ukulele more, camp more, game more, etc etc. But for know it is working on my truck. Part of me says don’t bother it is 16 years old and have 90,000 miles on it. But the other part of me says it still may have 60,000 more miles in it, and you love that thing. So on top of finishing the paint job, I think I want to lower it and swap out the exhaust system. I found a kit that is $160 to replace the exhaust, and I want to do that myself for the experience. As far as the lowering, I may leave that to the pros. Further than that, which may be years or never since I am tight for money, I would like to get new tires and rims. This is almost all cosmetic, but I would also like to try modifying any small thing I can with the engine or intakes and what not. I went through an automotive class in school but never perused it further, which I regret sometimes. I love working with my hands and making things better. Who knows how far I will get it. I know that soon I think I may have children and a house of my own so I know that my options are limited, but at the same time I may end up with a different vehicle entirely. Anyway have a great Hump Day and I’ll see you tomorrow for the last installment until Tuesday. Byyyeeee! πŸ˜€
