Outing & Craft Festival!

Hey Everyone!

We had a very productive, fun, and chilly weekend!

Saturday we had our combined company outing/picnic. We were out on the water by 10am kayaking from the dam down to the park. there were over 100 people signed up, and quite a few came. It took my wife and I about three and a half hours to make our way down. Here is my wife ad mom up in front:

About half way down there are some pretty mean rapids. We made it through ok, others were not so lucky. I helped a couple in a canoe that flipped right in front of us, ans when I got back in my kayak I saw another guy behind me flip right over as well. Everyone was safe just a bit wet and maybe a bit cold. It wasn’t raining but the sun never did come out.

Later we had catered pulled pork and chicken, from a place a few miles away. It was delicious. We had six corn hole boards up and running as well as a few for washer toss, and disc golf. Before we left I won a $25 gift card to Olive Garden, so my wife and I will have to make a trip out there soon!

Sunday we woke up and got ready to go to the local craft festival. It is once a year and we always make it a point to go. This year was really fun but it was raining. Here is the guy that was making balloon animals:

There were vendors from all over. Exhibiting things from art, to soups, and to guitars.

Oh and they had a tiny petting zoo!

On our way out we picked up 10 pounds of grass fed beef from a farm no more than 30 miles away from us, and some sugar coated almonds.

Once we got home I got my favorite purchase out!

1011

It is a CAO cigar box turned into a 3 string guitar. It is tuned to G D G. There are pickups in it so you can plug it in to an amplifier, and sounds ok if played acoustically. There is a neat story behind the one that I picked. The guy who makes these was asked to make a small Ukulele from a different CAO box, for the Master Blender of the CAO company. I guess the lady knew him personally and wanted it as a gift. For payment he was given two large boxes of cigar boxes. In one of those two boxes was this cigar box. He said he has never seen one like it before and it was the only one like it that he had made. He told me that the small Uke he made was in the Master Blenders office to this day. That is a neat backstory forΒ  the guitar. πŸ˜€

I finished Sunday off watching my beloved Cowboys do absolutely nothing against the Panthers. At least I had a beer to enjoy with it!

I hope you have all had a great weekend, I know I did! I’ll be back again tomorrow, hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Cable Work, Birthday, Home Coming!

Hey Everyone!

It has been a nice slow day here at work. In a way I enjoy it and in a way it makes the day drag on.

Tomorrow will be a different day. I have 30 patch cables that need ends. That means 60 ends total, possibly more. We are cleaning up our server setup so it no longer looks like a rat’s nest from the switch dying. Again most likely tomorrow we will work on the new set up for the conference room on the second floor. We have 4K TVs and all sorts of goodies going into that room.Β  This should keep us quite busy for a little while.

I was unable to mow the lawn last night due to my wife getting out of work a bit late. I wasn’t able to watch the baby and mow haha. I am hoping that she will be home before me today so I can get right to it. It isn’t fun to cut grass when it it over 80 degree and humid, from all the hurricane rain leftovers. But, it must get done, so I’ll do it!

Friday is also the day my mother was born all those years ago! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ haha Jokes aside we are going to all go eat at a place of her choosing. That is a tradition in my family since as long as I can remember. Fingers crossed that my baby will behave haha.

I was able to book my hotel for my universities home coming events. We go back most every year to see friends and watch the parade and what not. We met in college and we love the town the university is in. If we had it our way we would live there. Thankfully we are only about an hour and a half away, and can visit when ever we want. There may be pipe dreams of the future of buying a lake house out there but we will have to wait and see if that ever becomes a reality.

That is everything from me today, I hope you are enjoying your week day slide into the weekend! I’ll see you all back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What A Monday!

Hey Everyone!

I left work a bit early yesterday, to get my furniture together and in place. I sadly don’t have any pictures, for an OK reason haha.

Everything that was supposed to come did, and it filled my porch! I got home and drug everything into my living room. I took the three boxes for the bed frame upstairs to the bed room, left the two boxes with the end tables downstairs, and was left with a huge box containing the dresser. I decided the best thing to do would be to clean the floor in the bedroom, roll out the rug, and get to work on the frame. It was very simple, to my surprise, to put together. The pieces were bulky and it was a bit tricky to get the rails in since they have to go in both ends and I’m only one man lol. I got it together and had to turn the whole thing around. DOH! Bad planning on my part.

I went down stairs and thought to myself “How am I going to get this dresser upstairs?” The box was wider than my stairwell, and I figured it was in pieces in the box waiting to be assembled. Wrong! I opened the box and to my surprise again, it was completely ready to go and heavy as all get out. I left that until later.

I quickly got moving on the next task, the end tables. They again were simple, the hardest part is opening the box and trying not to get Styrofoam all over the place. I assembled both of those tables in about an hour and had myself a half time beer. It taste great, like I expected.

So now I’m sitting in my living room staring at this big dresser and decided to text my brother, to see if he would come help me. Go figure yesterday was his first day back on first sift at work! He wouldn’t be free to help me until her got home from work, picked up his baby, and ate dinner with his fiance. So while I was waiting I did remember to take a picture of my tote storage! I know you are all excited. Here it is:

The five closest gray totes are empty and at the end we have our Christmas tree and other things that won’t or don’t go in totes. This fixture was already here but it was a cluttered mess. Up top we have extra flooring for our dining room and living room,as well as replacement tiles for our bathroom. It makes me feel much better knowing that we do have some room for stuff, since we are having a baby in May.

My brother came over and we went ahead and took all the drawers, which made the dresser a bit lighter in weight. We then carried it carefully up the stairs, so we didn’t chip any of the paint on the wall. We got it in the room and went back down to get the drawers. Once they were in we head up to Lowes to grab adhesive felt for the bottoms of furniture. I have been worried this whole time that our nice floors were going to get all jacked up by all this new stuff. He dropped me back off at home and I went to town putting those felt pads on everything. By the time I was done it was about 8:30 and I forgot to take any pictures. I may remember tonight so stay tuned!

That was my exciting night!

Thank you for stopping by, I really appreciate it. Since I have talked a lot about storage, let me know in the comments below what you use in your house as storage. Let me know if you like your current setup or not, as well as what your dream storage system would be! I’d love to see what you all do. I’ll see you all tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Exhaust, & Farewell For Now

Happy Thursday people!

I got home last night and took a look under my truck. There was a lot more room under there then I had thought. Like, you could sleep under the bed no problem. Anyway back to why I was under there in the first place. I was scoping out my current/stock exhaust system. Along with painting the truck with bed liner I wanted to change out the exhaust system. For one reason the muffler has a hole in it and is rusting out, and the second reason is because it will be something I can do on my own. I haven’t done a modification like this before but everything I have seen has been fairly straight forward, since I will be going with a bolt on system. Since I also don’t have any damn money, I bought a budget system from Summit Racing at http://www.summitracing.com . If you are interested the part number is SUM-680030. It is not a a ‘true’ cat back system but its damn close. If I went with a name brand and a true cat back it would cost me $500+, whereas this one is $160. Again, since I will be doing it myself there will be no labor costs in sight. To install it I’m going to need to cut the intermediate pipe right after the Catalytic converter. I will first have to lay out the new system under the truck to know where to cut it off so I get the correct length. It will utilize a couple of adapters then head right into the muffler. The one I bought is a turbo style, which I’m hoping will be a good quality sound, without being obnoxiously loud. It is a tiny 4 cylinder after all. I saw that the mounts are welded so I will have to find a way around that. I might have to drill a few holes and use the mounts provided. That won’t be too hard. The current system is all welded so once I take it off the mounts and cut it the whole thing will come out in one piece. From there I will install the adapters, then then muffler. Next the remaining pipes just slide on and get mounted and clamped and I should be good to go. I am not sure if my spare tire will be in the way or not but if it is I’ll just take it out.Β  At some point I would like to paint the stock rims with the same bed liner. The only thing that will take a long time is taking each tire off one at a time since I don’t have a lift. I would spray them when they are on but I don’t want to spray the brakes.

As you all should know I will be leaving work today, and grabbing the rest of my stuff. The wife and I will be driving to North Carolina to spend the weekend with our friend that lives there. She will be moving to Arizona, I think, at the end of the summer. We will be there for two nights and we will be home Monday. As I stated in a previous post, I will not be posting Friday or this next Monday for that reason. I will tell you all about it Tuesday when I am super tired and sick of driving haha. The weather sounds like it will be OK so we shouldn’t run into any weird driving conditions. We are going to hang on the beach and go to some beer festival in the area. We will also be sleeping on an air mattress and that is about all I know. So I hope you all finish the week strong and head into the weekend with a smile. I’ll see you all Tuesday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend Fun!

Hello everyone!

I woke up Friday morning in a great mood that carried me through the weekend. Of course I still hadn’t packed my things yet for my three day weekend away. I quickly gathered what I thought I would want/need. I threw everything into the truck and was ready to go at about 10:45am. I got in the truck and wanted to be on the open road, until I looked at my gas gauge…empty. I ran across town to get gas and made sure to grab a small pizza and Red Bull for my lunch on the road. OK. Now I was ready to get going. It was a very pleasant drive. I had to oddly navigate through three states, mainly Interstates. After two hours of driving I arrived. Alone. There was no one there, or home for that matter. I checked the Facebook page and made sure I was there on time, and I was. That didn’t stop me, I started unloading my truck. I took all my stuff into the yard and pitched my tent. I made my bed area up and set out my folding chair. Once everything was said and done I pulled out the ukulele and began to play. Ten minutes later one of the hosts showed up and invited me in, apologizing for no one being there. (not a big deal) We caught up for a bit and had a few beers. She informed me that Her husband and a few guys went out golfing that morning and should be back any time.

Once the guys got back we helped get some last minute things ready. This included going to get the three kegs of beer for the weekend. Everything was good to go and soon the people came rolling up. Friends from school and some local friends as well. We dined on deep fried chicken wings and pasta with meatballs. Later on we played a game called ‘Stump’ I’ll explain. You get a nice level cut, fairly large stump, and set as many nails in for the amount of players. The nails were about four inches. You just have them set in the wood so that they won’t fly out when hit with the hammer. You then take turns. Whoever is up has to flip the hammer and catch it. However you catch it, is how you have to hit it. If you re-grip you forfeit your turn. If you flipped the hammer once you get one swing at another players nail. If you flip it twice you get two swings at other players nails and so on. If you drop the hammer your turn is over. You win by being the last person with your nail not smashed all the way in. You gauge whether or not a nail is done by if you can slide a fingernail under it or not. If you hit a players nail and bend the shit out of it you either take it out or hammer it all the way in and give them a fresh nail. We of course do this while drinking, so if you hit a nail and it glances off making a spark, you call “SPARRK!” and everyone drinks. It gets really fun/dangerous the longer you play. If you bleed you wipe it on the stump and keep going. Friday night ended with huge bon fire.

Saturday morning there were only three of us awake at 6:30am so we decided to go to the diner down the street for breakfast since there was nothing else to do. It was delicious, I had corn beef hash and Rye toast, and a ton of coffee. πŸ˜€ By the time we got back others were awake and jealous, as they should have been. All day Saturday was spent hanging out with old friends and playing yard games. We then had another large fire and went to bed. Sunday was the day we all dread. It is the day you wake up and pack it all up. You don’t want to leave but you know you have to. I get up early and put my stuff away so I can enjoy what little time is left. I help clean up the yard where I can so other people don’t have to. Once everyone is up some of us say our good byes and others, like myself head to the diner for a group breakfast. Again the food was amazing, I had a bacon and cheese omelet with hash browns, toast, and more coffee. I was another great year for a party weekend. The weather was great and the people were amazing as always. It is really great when you can get people together as friends every once and a while.Β  Just take people out of everyday monotony and have the time to catch up. I mean we have people who are married with children down to people fresh out of college, so its nice to all get on the same page once a year. It was a good reflective ride home. It makes you appreciate everything you have and the friends you have met along the way. I can’t wait, already, for next year. Speaking of next year, I hope my wife will be able to join me since she will be done with school. πŸ˜€

I’m kind of out of time for today, I’ll see you all tomorrow!
