Monday Funday!

Hey Everyone!

We had a pretty good weekend, I hope you did as well.

Friday our little family went to dinner at Red Lobster. It was nice to go out to eat for once and spend some time out and about.

Saturday I had that softball tournament. Our first game was at 9am. We didn’t do as well as we had hoped but still managed to be 4th in the league and get 3 games in the tournament. Now follow me here, We beat this team by the ten run rule, we then played the best team and lost by one. The third game knocked us out, via a team we have beaten before. The weird thing is that the team we beat by ten went on to knock out the best team and take second place in the whole tournament! We were stunned! We easily beat them by ten, how in the world did they beat those other teams? I understand it happens and I’m glad for them playing that hard, but it is just weird lol πŸ˜€

My wife was able to attend the first and most of the second game, until she had to go get ready to shoot a wedding. Everett and my mom stayed at the fields.

Saturday while my wife was away, and after the tourny, Everett and I went to my parent’s house. They were cleaning out their garage attic, and wanted some help getting things out. Everett found my first grade Halloween costume (Red Power Ranger), and spent some time smacking my mom’s dog lol πŸ˜€ He is still learning how to be nice.

Sunday we visit with my wife’s father. He was sent to the hospital, to get checked out. He has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I believe, and was having some weird things happening. They found him to be dehydrated mostly. We saw him there for a couple hours.

Afterwards we hit up the Olive Garden, and Barnes and Noble. It was a dreary, overcast day with some rain sprinkled in. When we got home we decided it was time to just watch a movie. My wife has been wanting to re-watch the Lord of the Rings movies, so we started with the 3 hours Fellowship! πŸ˜€

Here we are Monday afternoon, I have been working hard to get these darn terminals under wraps. I have a few orders placed and am waiting their arrival. Oh, other big news. My boss is retiring this April! That is good news to me. I will be bidding on his job, more than likely won’t get it. Based on who we all think might get it, I may be able to move up and take his job. I’m hoping to be the new Network Coordinator by May. I’m not sure if it will affect the blog or not. One day I may get too busy to run this thing, who knows!

That is all for me today! I hope you are all having a great Monday, and I’ll see you tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Homecoming Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend we traveled back to our Alma mater, for their homecoming celebration. We both met and attended the same university so we like to go back when we can. This weekend was homecoming. We left in the afternoon Friday, and checked in to our hotel, soon after. It was getting close to dinner time so we set out to find a place that wasn’t packed to eat. We didn’t want to go anywhere that there was a wait, since we had Everett with us. We ate at the local Quaker State. I had a decent steak sandwich and loaded fries, and a 22oz. Yuengling.Β  We couldn’t really go out to the bars, which is traditional on those kind of weekends, so we hung out and did a few things in the city before heading home. My wife and I are taking pictures for a wedding this weekend, and she normally rents a better camera. This time she is biting the bullet and buying the one she wants. It is expensive but worth it, since she is just trowing that money away renting it a few times. The local Best Buy ordered it for us and it should be here before this weekend. Just in time for the wedding. Our last stop was the book store and then back to the hotel.

The next morning was foggy as you can tell from the view of my breakfast table…

It would soon go away and be a beautiful day. We were in contact with one of Jordyn’s friends and met up with her at the parade.

The parade was super hero themed and kind of fun. It isn’t like it used to be but it was still fun.

This next one is a pumpkin catapult. Later that day they go launch a bunch of them in a field.

Like any function from our university it is accompanied by the sounds of bagpipes!

We took time for our friends that stopped by as well. We also needed a family picture, of course!

This is my old roommate Zoser and his little baby Emma. We came to school the same year and I had been friends with him for a few before we lived together. I don’t see him as often as I would like.We both had kids, I think less than a month apart. It was a surprise to see him and awesome to catch back up with him.

I met up with another roommate and fraternity brother too. We lived together for a couple years before I moved in with my now wife. He now lives in Maryland so I don’t see him much either, He has invited us to come down and someday, sooner than later, that would be cool.

After the parade we left to come home. There really isn’t much more we could do there with a baby. We grabbed lunch at Perkins when we got back home because neither of us wanted to cook haha. I was able to cut the grass and we cleaned the house up a bit and caught up on laundry.

Speaking of laundry we had a guy come “repair” our washer and get parts for our dryer. Everything was great until we tried the washer again. It still isn’t spinning all of the water out of our clothes. I have yet to call the guy, because he is going to get a hold of me later for the dryer anyway. That will just be more time off from work that I am quickly running out of for the year. None of this is the guy’s fault of course it just sucks that it didn’t work. It’ll pan out in the end.

Sunday we stayed lazy at home. I was able to finish my Warcross book. It had some nice twists and turns toward the end. It does leave you wanting more. I was able to predict a bit more than I would have liked to, and I did find two instances of things not lining up. That can be overlooked since it doesn’t really change the story line in any way. I hope she comes out with her 8th book as a sequel!

That is all for me today. I am here bored at wok for another four hours haha. I’ll see you all tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Birthday, Shopping, Cabin!

Hey Everyone!

This weekend was jam packed with a little bit of everything. Friday was my mom’s birthday. We all met down town and had dinner at a nice restaurant. Afterwards we bought some pie from the same place and headed to our place. My brother’s family had to go early to put their baby down for the night. We stayed and played a couple of games of Yahtzee! My wife and mother did better than my dad and I. Not a great picture but still captures the moment haha.

That was the end of our night. Saturday my little family took a trip to the city to get a few things. We had some Olive Garden for lunch. I had a nice grilled chicken flatbread. YUM! Everett was very well behaved, and a few people stuck up a small conversation with us. All around good time.

We stopped at Babies-R-Us to use up a gift card and a returned item to buy a few things. Jordyn bought a few milk storage bags and what not, and the big purchase was a 4Β  in 1 convertible Graco car seat!

He will be able to use that seat until he doesn’t need one anymore. It converts all the way to a backless booster seat. It will take a little time to get used to but it is really nice. And just think we really got it for free, can’t beat that.

My wife then wanted to visit Kirkland’s for the first time. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it is a very nice home decor store. Most things are reasonably priced, and fairly well made. She had thoughts of getting a few little things there and then going to Hobby Lobby, but that didn’t quite pan out. I’ll tell you why. She, almost instantly, found a stand that would fit perfectly in our house. It was a large item and we didn’t think we had a way to even get it home. I eventually broke down and went and bought a set of ratchet straps and put it on the roof haha. Once we got it home, it really did transform the space. Check it out:

So there you have it, we now have a coffee bar! It fits so well. Just before we left to come home we stopped at Barnes and Noble. I was looking to start a Tom Clancy series, then realized that his books are bible large and that may not be the best for me. If you follow my Instagram you will already know what I got, but I did get something different. I picked up a book from an author I know I like. From the author of the Legend, Prodigy, Champion trilogy, comes my newest edition, War Cross!

I’m not sure how much time I will have to start reading this book but I really want to. I enjoyed that named trilogy above tremendously.

Sunday my dad, brothers, and I went to camp to work on the cabin some more. It is really starting to take shape as a real structure. They already had siding on the back, as shown:

We were going to be working on insulating the inside as well as putting up some rough cut boards on the front. Here is what it looked like before we started:

Here are the 40+ rough cut boards we had to carry into the woods:

My mom came out and helped my brother put up some insulation:

My dad and I measued and cut each board to fit around the roof rafters and screwed them into place. We are later going to rip a few boards into four inch wide pieces to go over the gaps between the boards. We will also draw a straight line along the bottom and cut the bottom straight, but that is for another day.

We may end up staining it in the future so it lasts longer but we aren’t sure yet. For now we want it boarded up and ready for winter. We will have to frame the door a bit more and finish the two ends. While at camp I cut a bunch of kindling from the scrap rough cut wood. I was going to go home and start putting wood in my storage container. You know the one I made a little while ago. Here’s how it looks!

I really like the way this piece turned out! I can’t wait to have a few fires, and not have to trudge through the snow to go get more wood.

That rounded out my weekend. My baby has his four month check up today after work and I have one of my best friends from high school coming over to meet him after. I haven’t seen him in a while so it will be a good time catching up a bit.

That is all for me today, I hope top see you all back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Gearing Up For The Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

If you haven’t checked it out yet look at my last post. It was a fun app review that got a little longer than expected haha.

I wanted to make a second post just as a life post.

Today is my mother’s birthday, who knows how old she really is. I’m sure she wouldn’t mind people forgetting haha. We are going out to dinner tonight at a local place called the Plaza. It is a little dive, that has good food and great pie. We may head back to our place for further conversation and possibly board games. We really aren’t sure though since we both have little kids. Anyway, Happy Birthday to my mom! πŸ˜€

Tomorrow my little family is going on a day trip to the city to use up some remaining gift cards to Babies-R-Us and a few other places. I’m sure we will get some grub and hit up the book store while we are there. I have been wanting to read a book lately, but really need it to be a good one. I’m a crappy reader and need something that really gets me hooked. I’m leaning towards looking into the series of Jack Ryan, written by Tom Clancy. I see the first one in the logical series to start with is Without Remorse. If I can find it I may just have to purchase it. πŸ˜€

As far as Sunday, I currently have plans to go with my dad and brother to work on siding the cabin. We also have some insulation, but I think we need to seal the floor and what not first. Either way It’ll be fun to get back at it. If we can have it closed up before snow fall we will be grinning!

Big success I was able to mow my lawn finally haha. I know you were all wondering!

I’ll be sure to get some pictures and report back on Monday!

See you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Catching Up!

Hey Everyone!

Another long day at work yesterday. Working through break and straight up until the bell. I’ll hopefully get this one out early before the ‘storm’ hits again today haha. Saturday, long time ago I know, my wife and I took a day for ourselves. It was much needed and a good way to relax. We left town and spent the day together. I mean we brought the kid too but hes ok πŸ˜€

We were able to go out to lunch at Texas Roadhouse, which was delicious! We kept the day going by going to Hobby Lobby, which is a black hole. They have the best home decor stuff and we tend to spend hundreds of dollars every time we go haha. We bought vases, picture frames, and a nice lamp for our end table. Further down the road we hit up the local Barnes and Noble, where my wife picked up a first year pregnancy book and I got a few more Funko Pop Vynls. To round out the day we stopped at Babies ‘R Us and picked up a few things, most importantly a baby carrier. You know like the strap you to my chest kind. πŸ˜€

Sunday I had two softball games. We won the first one and lost the second. It was annoying a little bit, because we were down a guy and still almost won, so I can’t help but think if we had another guy we would have won easily. Oh well, its just a game for fun right?

Lets see, my wife bought photos for the frames we bought and they came in last night. I had the ‘privilege’ to hang them all up last night haha. Here are a couple different angles of the frames and photos we bought. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Oooh and you can see the lamp we picked up in the last photo! πŸ˜€ Woo!

Today I have a meeting with our UPS rep, and will be swapping out some PCs today. It is looking like another busy day. It is also pouring down rain here today, I’m pretty sure it rained all night as well. I’m really hoping we don’t get any flooding in the basement today. Fingers crossed! I hope you enjoy your Hump Day! To wrap it up here is my dinosaur!

Easter Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

Back after a great Easter weekend. I hope you all were able to enjoy some time with your families and friends.

I guess we will just jump right into it here. Friday I was off of work for Good Friday, and we used the sunny warm weather to get some more of the cabin done. Remember, we have a goal to have it done enough to use by the last week of May. That is coming quick. We got up and headed to Lowes for supplies.

We picked up about half of the metal roofing we needed because that was all that they had. We also got the plywood for the roof.

Once we got to camp, and carried everything into the woods (awful) we got to work. We started by getting all of the plywood boards up and nailed into place. After that we started to add the painted metal roofing.Β  Towards the end this is what we had:

You can see some light through the top there because we didn’t cap the top, as we don’t have all metal roofing yet. We had the rest ordered and should be here within the week. That took the whole day Friday and we were beat.

Saturday was a little bit more relaxing. We didn’t have anywhere to go, or anything we had to do. It was supposed to rain all day and only sprinkled for a short time. We decided to take the dog for a walk, and go feed the ducks again. It really was a nice day. We got some thingsΒ  done around the house. We saw our grass was getting high and we wanted to cut it. Small problem though, we didn’t have a mower lol! Back to Lowes we went. After getting a mower and some spray paint we were ready. It looked like rain when I was done setting up the mower, so that has to wait until today. I did however paint the portable fireplace with heat resistant paint, annnd this lovely rock in front of our house haha. 20170415_165149

It wasn’t intended to be so bright, but what are you going to do! We may rough it up a bit and put our house number on it. It’ll get fixed up soon. The rest of the day was spent touching up some things in the new office space, and hanging out.

Sunday was the big day! Easter was here and we had a ton of stuff to do. We woke up early and headed to Erie, PA. We had to bring a few things to the baby store to return. In the process we ordered a few things for our baby with the money and gift cards we had. We were able to purchase our diapers bags, pack and play, and sheets. The book store was open so we ended up there for a while since we had an hour to kill before going to my aunts house. I ended up starting my Funko Pop collection as shown below:

I know it isn’t a great picture but it was after a long day haha, cut me some slack! I figured I’d start it with some old school cartoons. The Animaniacs, was where it was at. I got the three main characters, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot. My wife got a book for the baby, kind of a fill in the blanks about how we met and came to be and then how we became three. It is a neat book, we filled some of it out late last evening. It was time to finally go to my aunts. We were there before everyone because we were already in town. We watched as everyone showed up one by one. When it was all said and done we had about 20 people there. The fun part is that we now have five kids under the age of five. We ate and then hid some eggs for the little kids. It was the first time in years that we had an Easter egg hunt, and it brought a ton of old memories back. Good ones. πŸ˜‰ We had a few family pictures before we had to our next destination. Then we were gone.

We left my aunts and headed to my wife’s grandparent’ house for more food, and good company. We were both pretty full, so we didn’t over do it. We realized on the way over that this would be one of the last times that we will be traveling out there for a while, since we are having a baby.Β  We are going to have people come to us more often. That will be a big change. My wife’s Uncle Mike was in town from Indiana, as well as her brother and sister. Our little nephew Carter was there too of course. We stayed there for about three hours, and played a dominos game. After we left my wife had to stop at the local ice cream place that just opened back up for the season. Finally it was time to turn right around and drive all the way home. We didn’t read the driveway until about 9pm and again we were beat. The weekend went fast and three days really felt like one!

As of today I may be taking my mini fridge back home to use in the office, which would be awesome. I could stock it full of goodies. I have to remember to mow the grass at our new house for the first time ever, and get the weed eater out too. It is hard getting back in the swing of things after a long weekend.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my weekend, if you did anything special let me know! I hope you all had great weekend. I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
