What A Day!

Hey Everyone!

Let me run down a recap of the rest of my Monday. I left work early to have enough time to gather my dog’s urine and take it to the Vet for further testing. She had a UTI and I wanted to make sure that it was all cleared up and that she was good to go! To be short, they called back and said she was all clear. Again I took her on the leash and slid a dinner plate under her haha. I scared her a little bit this time so she stopped going. I had to transfer the urine into a baggie because I didn’t have a different small container with a lid. It took some real skill to do all of this, I’m sure you can imagine haha.

I was all ready to head to the Vet and my wife had picked Everett up for his 9 month checkup. The timing was great. I was ready to go, and so was she. We grabbed Everett and headed out. We hit up the Vet first and then headed to his appointment. We made it there with about 30 seconds to spare. The called his name and back we went.

The appointment didn’t really go so well, unfortunately. :/ He only needed one shot, so that was good, but he seemed to be in rough shape other wise. He has another yeast infection on his bottom, and a double ear infection. This after he just got over the Flu. They gave us a referral to meet with an ear, nose, and throat doctor in Buffalo, for tubes. We have time to decide if he really needs them or not, but we may as well get the process started. After the appointment we had to grab some groceries. We hit up the local Wegmans and had some subs there, before shopping for food. That way we didn’t shop on an empty stomach. Everett was having the best time, because for the first time he was able to sit in the cart and see everything.

He is still a bit tiny so we watched him closely but he did great. We finished grabbing groceries and headed home. Once we were back in town we had to pick up his two prescriptions at the local CVS. He needed stuff for his ears and cream for his baby butt.

By the time we really got home, it was about bead time. We unpacked, and put everything away, and that was that.

One thing I forgot to mention, was that Everett also bonked his head at daycare and had a nice bruise on his head. I just told her that he is now crawling and pulling himself up. I did all of this so that she would pay attention to him and make sure he wasn’t doing anything that was going to result in something like that. :/ I guess he pulled up on a toy and was bouncing around, while holding on to it. He fell forward and hit his face. He also got a bloody nose…DOH! I just wish they did a better job at watching him. Sadly there is nothing or no one in the area willing to watch kids this young. So again, our options are more than limited. I feel trapped a bit, because I have to have child care, but the care isn’t up to snuff. This then leads to us not feeling comfortable with him being there for safety reasons, but having no where to go.

We will see how today goes when I pick him up.

That is all from me today! I hope you are having a great Tuesday. I know I am taking some time to chill after yesterday’s all day affair haha.Β  I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Hey Everyone!

I missed Friday’s post due to this weird co-worker cover shift crap. We have divider her job between three of us and it is a pain in the ass. I get caught off guard by getting her work put on my desk at different times each day. They have also been running into some issues so the delay means I can’t predict when I’ll get my part to do. Just today I am still not done with my part, but last week sometime I was able to get it all done by 9:30 so who knows.

This weekend was not great by any means. I think we pissed off our babysitter some how and Everett has the Flu. Allow me to elaborate. We were supposed to be going to to my wife’s grandpartent’s house. That all fell apart when Everett came one Friday with a fever. We decided to stay home and make him an appointment for Saturday morning. While we were home bound for the night I figured I would try my hand at doing our taxes online for the first time. I got to the section about child care, and needed my child care providers SSN, if under a single person operation, or EIN if she was operating under a daycare status. Not thinking any thing of it I text her and asked for either. I got a poorly worded text back saying that she was not a daycare, just a babysitter. That lead me to believe that I would then need her SSN. I asked her for that so that I could finish my taxes up and I got no response. So I waited, maybe she was busy. As time passed my wife and I realized that she was most likely working 100% under the table, which would make sense, as to why, maybe, she was offended?

Saturday came, after being ignored all evening, and Everett had his doctor appointment. We figured he had an ear infection again and that we would leave from there to go back. Well, that was until he came back positive for Influenza A. So we headed on home, as not to get anyone else sick. Not hearing back from our baby sitter, we wanted to call her and clear the air about the tax thing and let her know that Everett was sick as well. This was late in the day mind you. I called her home phone with no answer. I then called her cell phone, with no answer, and left her a messages saying ” Hey, its Cale. I just wanted to clear the air with the whole tax thing, we weren’t aware that you operated under the table, and we are fine with that. In other news Everett tested positive for the Flu, please call me back when you can, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Bye.” Sounds very calm and non aggressive to me?!? The rest of the evening went by without hearing from her. Everett was on a regiment of Tylenol and Ibuprofen.

Sunday morning arrived and we had another hell of a night sleeping in the living room with Everett being fussy. Around mid morning I tried giving our baby sitter another call, since it had now been about two days since she first ignored me. I got no answer on her home phone, and her cell phone was off so it went to voicemail. I didn’t leave one because I didn’t want to be that super annoying guy. I just wanted to speak with her. Still nothing as of, after dinner. That meant that I haden’t heard from her since Friday afternoon and I still wasn’t able to contact her directly about Everett being sick. So around 7pm Sunday I called again. No answer on the home phone, and no answer on the cell. I left a message saying, “Hey, its Cale. I hope you got my other voicemail. If not, Everett tested positive for the Flu, and wont be able to come to day care until his fever has broke for a full 24 hours. The soonest he would be back is Tuesday, we will keep you posted. Thanks. Bye.” That was that. Even now on a day where she watches kids I haven’t heard back. I don’t know if she is avoiding me because of the tax thing, that I don’t even mind, or for some other reason. Why, wouldn’t she call me back? My wife and I are mad about it all and when we do bring him back it is going to be super awkward. We don’t really feel comfortable sending him back there if she is mad at us for some reason, or because she failed to communicate with us as an adult running an illegal business.

My guess is that I will call her again tonight to let her know that he will be out for tomorrow too and likely be back Wednesday. I’m banking on her not picking up the phone :/ The real issue here is that we don’t have many options when it comes to legit daycare centers, and most people that do watch kids don’t report it on their taxes, so we would never get a tax break. That being said we really don’t mind it and can’t, because if she is really mad with us she can just say she isn’t willing to watch Everett anymore and we would be fucked. (Sorry for the language, but its true) We are kinda stuck.

We would love to just send him to another sitter entirely, but around here you can’t fins anyone. I just got off the phone with my wife. I may call the babysitter this afternoon, knowing that she is home with kids and try getting them to answer the phone. Who knows.

Here a couple pictures of my sick boy. He is still active and eating well enough. We hope he is over this by Wednesday.

That is all for me today! I hope you have a great Monday and I’ll see you tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What A Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

This has been a quick but full weekend. It was pretty fun, but that always means that it will go to quick.

Saturday morning started very normally. We got up had coffee, breakfast, and watched some local news. Everett was safely playing in our make shift area haha. Don’t mind the dog’s ass πŸ˜‰

All was well and good. Later that day is when it got interesting. I went in to work with my co-worker to replace an old network location. It was out in the shop up on a mezzanine. I wasn’t able to get a shot of it all whole so here is the first one I took.

Pretty messy right? Ya, we thought so too. Once that was done we pulled it off the wall and that is when the fun began.

Our goal was to make sure that none of the fiber lines broke, make sure we knew where everything was supposed go again, and put it all back together nice and neat in this new rack.

This is when we we getting close to being done. As you can tell it is getting dark. We have the switches at the top and patch panels below that. Further down we have a shelf for out laptop and a new battery backup at the bottom.

I had my co-worker send me a picture once he tidied up a bit. It is all up and running well today.

The reason I had to leave, just before it was finished was because we were celebrating my little brother’s 28th birthday. It was at the local bowling ally, where were had our whole family gathered and ate pizza and wings.

Everett wanted to keep score with my dad and older brother, that is until he ripped the sheet haha.

Notice that the corner of the sheet is gone in the next one and that he seems quite happy with himself haha.

Later, after we played two games the birthday boy and his daughter got to go down to the end of the lane so she could try to hit the pins. The zoom sucks but it was a cute moment. We know the guy who runs the ally so he was cool with it all.

We packed up and went to my parents house where we had ice cream cake from the DQ! That is always a bonus.

Everett was content with a pad of paper. Not sure why he is into such weird stuff.

That was it for Saturday. As for Sunday we got some work done around the house. I shoveled the side walk. It was a lounge type of day since it was so busy Saturday. I was fine with the day ending like that, but it didn’t. Everett’s cough came on fast and barky. We dropped everything we were doing at about 4:30 and ran him to the local clinic, only to find out that they don’t see children that young. (Side note: That is F*cking stupid) Anyway, we called another clinic about 30 minutes away and were able to get him in there just fine. He has croup again, and they prescribed him a steroid. So great, we thought it would be better from there. It wasn’t, we took him home and gave it to him and he threw up instantly. We tried again after eating this morning and he instantly threw up his whole bottle. My guess is that he is allergic. He is back at the babysitter today and we are going to push through it. I think we go see our new pediatrician in a couple days for a follow up, so I’ll letΒ  you know how that goes.

We slept on the couch last night since Everett went down last night refusing his bottle. We didn’t want to wake him again, for fear of him not going back to sleep. Needless to say, but we are a little tired today haha.

Work is going well, the only down side is seeing the snow piling up today. I’ll have about 6-10 inches to shovel again after work. I try to think of it as a workout haha.

That is all for me, I hope you all had a great weekend. I’ll see you again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Winter Is Here!

Hey Everyone!

I’m a bit early with the post today, because I know I will be busy around lunch time today. It is not often that I know when I will be busy, so it is kind of a welcomed thing. Ya know?

I hinted that I may have to use my snow blower last night, but the snow didn’t really start accumulating until late in the evening. That being said I woke up this morning to a ton of snow haha. We still have lake effect snow warnings and watches until mid day today. We went from no snow two days ago to about 11-18 inches. This is pretty typical though where I live, we are just an hour and a half away from Lake Erie and get all the heavy stuff. There was only a two hour delay for schools today even though all the main roads and hills are still covered. We are, mostly, pretty decent at driving in this weather since we see it all the time. For reference I took a picture off of my porch this morning after I already shoveled the sidewalk.

From this picture alone you can see that it was piling back on right as I went. I’m sure it looks like I didn’t do much at all by now haha. This evening when I get home I will for sure fire my snow blower up and give it it’s first real ride. Everything is ready and waiting. The only thing I couldn’t find this morning are my leather gloves but I can grab others. My driveway is long and narrow so the hard part is going to be finding a safe place for the snow to go. I don’t want to hit the house or windows, or throw it on my neighbors driveway beside mine, so I’ll have to be careful.

On another note, I wish I knew that trying to do car seat things in the snow was going to be as awful as it is. I try my best not to fall down the stairs out of the house. Then I try my best to not fall walking to the car. Keeping him out of the elements is hard on top of trying to get him in the car without snow falling on him haha. I guess it is better than pouring down rain, if I had to find a silver lining. πŸ˜€Β  This is when I wish we would have found a house for the right price with a two stall garage. I have been texting my wife when Everett and I are both safely at or destinations to keep her mind at ease. The little girls at his daycare always laugh when I get him inside and pull his winter hat off. His little hat hair is funny.

Where you live have you received any snow yet? Do you at all? Let me know in the comments below, so I can share in your pain or be jealous that you are living the dream in a warmer climate haha. I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Zac Brown Band & Cabin Build

Hey Everyone!

I am back from my long weekend!

for those who may not know, my wife and I went to a Zac Brown Band concert she won tickets to. Β The concert was Thursday evening at 7 pm, at Youngstown State University. I guess it was the first time they have ever had a concert, and people we having a blast.

The band Midland was the opener and play for about an hour. Here was our view, mind you it was still the opener and daylight so the stands weren’t full yet.

Here is a quick clip of Midland from Thursday playing there no. 1 hit ‘Drinkin’ Problem.

The rest of the night was awesome. The Zac Brown Band is great live! They even covered Bohemian Rhapsody, I didn’t expect that. It was looking like rain and that held off. It was a ton of driving for one night but it was all worth it.

mher (5)mher (4)mher (6)mher (7)

The pictures aren’t great but I wanted something haha.

Here is a clip of their super famous song ‘Chicken Fried’.

You can really tell the crowd was into it. If you make it to the end you can see that they continue to just do awesome instrumentals for a whole minute.

We made our way home and arrived after 1 am. We went right in, thanked my mom for watching our son and hit the hay!

Friday was spent relaxing. Saturday and Sunday I went with my dad and brother to get some more work done on the cabin. We started on the ends first.

Here is my brother adding the first piece of plywood.

mher (9)

We have arch gaps to fill at the top but the windows are all in and framed.

mher (13)

The other side done the same, with the bigger window framed.

mher (14)

Here is just a shot of the outside.

mher (11)

Next we worked on framing in a couple of french doors that we no longer needed. They will not be doors at all, rather just tall windows with builtin blinds!

mher (10)

Here is where they will go, one on each side.

mher (16)mher (12)

Here they are mostly framed in, and I figured I should get a picture now or else I would forget. The first is with the blinds closed then open. It should be a great feature for light and style.

mher (1)mher (18)

It is moving right along. Once we frame in the real door, and cover the two ends we are going to seal it up. We are going to caulk the floor gaps, and use expanding foam around the roof and walls. Next will be to insulate the inside all while having the other people putting on the siding. from there we are going to put Amish rough cut wood on the front, and plywood the inside. Then it is just a matter of building the interior, as far as bunks counters, and moving in furniture. Still quite a bit to do but it should be ‘livable’ for a weekend by first snow.

I had a jam packed weekend, but it was all a good time. I hope you all had great ones as well. If you get a chance check out my last post. It is a short film review that I was requested to do. Kinda neat actually.

I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
