Around The Water Cooler!

Hey Everyone!

Last night we ran to the store, and ended up picking up some slippers for Everett. They are too cute not to share so here we go!

That was last night as well as him climbing on his Diaper box and dancing to the theme from Gilmore Girls.

This morning he was still loving them.

I hope my boy can brighten your Friday! I hope to see you back again Tuesday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Around The Water Cooler!

Hey Everyone!

Since I haven’t been taking in any cafinated drinks it didn’t seem fair to post a ‘Coffee Talk’ morning segment. That being said i do now go fill up my water bottle and get to typing! So welcome to the first ever ‘Around The Water Cooler!’ piece. Where I will detail some morning thoughts and cover the happenings of the prior day.

This morning I’m feeling overwhelmed, but at the same time I’m ok with it. I have to call the bank about some real estate taxes and what not, as well as talk to them about mortgage insurance. While I’m not looking forward to that I don’t think it will be a big deal. I also have to learn some more coverage of the operations end of things at work before, well, next week haha. I have to call the pediatrician about Everett’s iron supplement, and look in to how to fix the GC machine at the gas plant that I’m doing on the side. So, sort of a busy Friday. I’d also like to get the grass cut in the yard if at all possible.

On to what we dealt with last night! I wanted to move all of the weeds we pulled from our yard and dump them over the bank behind my parent’s house, then I needed to drop off my car to get fixed up, followed by running to the store for some stuff.

I got home and took our a frozen pizza for dinner since I knew we were going to be a bit busy. The pizza finished and I went to move it form the oven to the counter. The moment I was in that transition Everett decided it was a good idea to run over to the stove door that was down and slam his hands on it! You know where it goes from here. It was a 400 degree oven that he slammed his hands on. Unlike some babies he did take his hands off very quickly and started balling, as most people would probably do. I quickly, but calmly, grabbed him and ran his hands under some cool water. My wife finished up her work day and came down to help me out. We called the doctor and they told us a couple things, we basically already knew. We applied Aloe to his hands from one of our many Aloe plants. It helped him immediately.Β  While that was going on I gathered those weeds and got rid of them so we could head out the door and get the other stuff done. Once I dropped off the car and made it to the store we picked up a gauze kit to wrap his more burnt hand over night. We have pictures, nothing gross though, so no advisory needed.

12

He has a couple fairly large (for his size) blisters on the palm of his hand, so we put more Aloe on before bed and wrapped him up.

This morning he was back at it getting into everything.

3

Then, since this is how it always happens,Β  I get this picture sent to me this morning.

4

Everett just got a fresh wrap job and dunked his hand in my wife’s coffee first thing this morning! DOH!

That was my night and while it had some low points we got everything sorted as needed, and we all made it though!

I hope you have a great Friday and weekend! I’ll see you again Monday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Hey Everyone!

Today is the day. My boy is one year old today! It has all happened so fast in our minds, when in reality it was a whole year haha. He has grown so much from the moment we first saw him!

20170522_172854

He was the cutest little baby we have ever seen, partially because he was our own. But lets be honest, he’s a cutie!

20170523_130016

He was small, but a healthy small. Everything about him did and still does light up our lives in a big way. We cannot imagine life without him. πŸ˜€

Cale (1 of 6)

It is hard to believe that he was created by the two of us. We often just stare at him in amazement and wonder. The fact that we have the ability to create human life is something that can’t be fully understood until, you yourself create it.

KODAK Digital Still Camera

There is no other feeling like it in the world. I’ve grown up knowing how and why people have children and that someday I too would want children of my own. There was never any real meaning or feeling behind those thoughts and words. I thought it was just something people did, because they were supposed to. It wasn’t until our baby boy was brought into this world that we started to realize the true impact he would have on our lives. I have never felt a bond or a closeness so strong before in my entire life!

To my son: Today at 5:20pm Everett Hugh you will be one year old exactly. Your mother and I love you very much and can’t wait to see all of the great things you do. We want to watch you grow, and learn all there is to learn, and see all there is to see. I’m sure we will be proud of the person you become. I’m sure there will be hard times, and things that we won’t see eye to eye on, but I hope you always know that we love you. We are not perfect, and for that I hope you can forgive us, but remember that we are only trying to do our best, to do what is best for you. We hope to raise you in a way that you can stand on your own two feet and take on the world armed with all of the tools you need to have a full and happy life.Β  We love you more than anything! ❀ ❀

My wife had an impromptu photo shoot with Everett a few days ago. I mentioned it in an earlier post I’m sure. So what better time to share them with all of you then on his first birthday! πŸ˜€ Please enjoy these amazing photos!

New Hobby!

Hey Everyone!

Yesterday was our anniversary, and thank you for all of the kind words! We both know and understand that material items aren’t what creates/prolongs a relationship, but we like to do something a little extra for things like this.

My wife asked for a bike years ago so that we could go riding together. I was never able to get her one. Our life then got really hectic with moving and a family. I’m glad I could finally get her one! It is a nice new Trek, in a California Blue. It is a 13″ because she is a shorty haha.

1

She surprised me with a Ukulele, but not just any Uke! It was the Kala Waterman. You have most likely never heard of it, and that is ok. It is a plastic Uke, but not really a toy. It is totally see through, can take a beating, and best of all is water-resistant! I have wanted one since I knew they were a thing. πŸ˜€

It is great for camping our floating down the river, which I plan to do both this summer! πŸ˜€ It is a soprano size, so the smallest of the main sizes. It is the traditional size.I absolutely love it! It doesn’t sound like an amazing instrument, well because it isn’t meant to. It does hold a tune and is great to take with you.

So with my wife having a bike now, we can ride right? Well not exactly. What about our boy? We hit up the Wal-Mart and were able to find him an infant helmet that he modeled for us at home haha.

He isn’t exactly a fan but we did manage to get a few of him smiling haha. He just has to get used to it is all. He doesn’t like that he can’t just rip it of. We looked or a cradle seat for the back of my bike but they didn’t have one. We then hit up the local cycle shop and they didn’t either. They were however able to check for me and let me know what options I have. They should be calling me today and if the price is right I’ll be getting one. Theeennn, we can go for a ride! πŸ˜€

That is about all we did yesterday, besides watching Holes on HBO Now haha.

I’ll see you all again tomorrow morning! Hope to see you then. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

One Day Surgery!

Hey Everyone!

Sorry for not posting yesterday. I came into work and realized that the sinus pressure building in my head was stopping me from doing anything at work. I left work at around 10am and took myself to the walk in clinic. They got me hooked up with an antibiotic and,Β  honestly I fee much better even after three doses.

Last night was a little tough, because we knew in the morning that Everett was getting tubes in his ears. If anyone doesn’t know what they are or what they do I’ll tell ya! They are literal tubes that are inserted in the ear drum to allow fluid to drain properly, and not build up and cause infections. For babies like Everett, must be put to sleep for a few minutes since they move a lot and don’t listen, so that is the freaky part. So my wife and I had a restless night thinking about things that could go wrong.

This morning we got up around 5:50am and had to get him there by 6:30am. So it was an early start. They checked him over and then had us get him ready in his little gown. He was tired and not sure what was going on.

12

After a little while they gave him the pre-op medicine that made him loopy, which was kind of funny after it kicked in. You can tell he was getting goofy.

34

His head was getting heavy and he was getting sleepy again. The doctors and anesthesiologist came out ad talked us through everything.

56

Here is a short video of Everett just feeling the loopy juice.

They took him back, which was hard for us, because we didn’t have control over what was going to happen for the next 10 minutes. We sat in the waiting room and tried to stay as calm as we could. When they were done we were called in to talk with the doctor and go over how everything went. He let us know everything went perfectly and that we could go see him in post-op. He was still coming out of the anesthesia, so he was floaty and not sure what to think. So he was crying and not happy. We were able to feed him before we left, since he hadn’t eaten in 12 hours.

7

By the time we got him in the car he was asleep. I hope when we comes out of his nap that he is feeling a ton better.

8

I am clearly back at work and trying to play catch up from the last two days.

That is it for me today! I hope you are having a great Wednesday, and I’ll see you all back tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend Travel!

Hey Everyone!

It’s Monday again, Blah! Other than that things are going pretty well. Our weekend was fairly successful. Saturday morning we got up and hurried to get ready. We left the house around 9am so that we could make our appointment at 11am with the modular home people. It was very overcast and rained most of the day but held off while we were walking through the lot of homes. We learned a ton of things from the sales rep, who was very nice by the way. We narrowed it down to the specific building company we liked and the styles we liked. Once we were done with the touring part we sat down in his office and went over more details and other floor plans.

With that done and over with we headed to her grandparent’s house for some lunch. My wife’s friend came over to see her as well, since we don’t make it back very often. You can see everyone on the floor playing with Everett.

20180127_143215

Not a great picture, I know, but I have to be sneaky haha. No one I know other than my wife knows I even blog remember.

We were supposed to ask if her grandparents would help us by putting a house down for us on their land, and allow us to buy it once ours sold, but my wife never posed the question. That being said they are still all for us moving back. I spoke with her grandfather at some length about it. He just wants us to weigh all our options. Little does he know, we kind of have haha. If we had our way we would be back tomorrow. Most of the process would be determined by timing. We would either have a house to go to or not, we would sell fast or slow, I could find a job in a month or six, ya know what I mean? So once the ball gets rolling we would like to have as many constants as we can and knowing that we would have a place already would be awesome. I don’t know if that will happen or not.

Later that day we met with my wife’s friends for an early dinner. One of her girlfriends is getting deployed for the first time to Afghanistan. We surprised her at this local bar and had a nice time.

Sunday we stayed in for the most part, I went and grabbed some groceries, while my wife cleaned the house a bit. Everett was enjoying his ball pit.

This one is a week late but Everett is over 8 months old now and getting really fun to play with. He is still a little guy for his age as far as charts go but he will catch up just fine.

What a ham! Every time you point a camera at him he smiles right at it. His mom has him trained haha.

I was able to squeeze in some gaming time as well and I have reached my highest rank ever in Rocket League Solo play! In Solo Doubles you can see I’m Platinum II and in Solo Threes I am Platinum I for the first time. I’m pretty excited about this since I haven’t played as much as I normally do. It was a welcomed surprise.

That was my weekend! I hope you all had great ones as well. I’ll be back tomorrow, and I’ll see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Milestone, Weather, Masons, & Weight!

Hey Everyone!

First Hump Day of the year wooo! Here we are on third day of the new year and, hopefully, feeling good.

I woke up this morning with a bit of a sore throat, which may have something with Everett going back to day care. So not super happy about that, but what are you to do? Oh well! It has gotten better throughout the day so I hope it just goes away haha.

Yesterday I didn’t think I would even post and look at me go! I got two out, surprise haha. I was super swamped at work and still, sort of, am. This is the lull in the eye of the storm in a manner of speaking.

Last night was the first night that we put Everett to bed, with out him coming with us. He is still in our room and in his bassinet but we made the decision to put him upstairs right after his last bottle, and see how it goes. We had the monitor on, and with minimal fussing he went right to sleep. He slept well the rest of the night and I think we have a good thing going with this. I am confident that he can sleep in his own room, but my wife would like to still hold off on that for a bit longer. I’m OK with that decision. So that was a big win for us I think.

This winter weather is hitting our area pretty hard, and right now it is bitter cold. Schools in surrounding areas have been closed due to the low temperatures. In some areas it is reaching -20 F. We make sure to bundle Everett up as best we can, and keep him out of it as much as possible. I however notice that my facial hair freezes up instantly if it is even a tiny bit wet. I can lick my lips and it will freeze right up. I was shoveling the snow off of my sidewalk the other day, wearing big winter gloves, and my fingers were still numb by the end of it. Our water company as issues a warning about pipes freezing. We are supposed to have the water on to at least a drip to prevent it. That last thing we need is busted pipes. I’ll have to get on that when I get home today.

In other news I have our first Masonic meeting of the new year tonight. I am in a new position and have new lines to speak, so I’m a bit nervous. I know I have the lines down, but saying them in your head and out loud to yourself is different then doing it in the meeting haha. It should be OK though, I mean it is the first week after all. I’m not sure what they are serving for dinner but I know it’ll be good.

Speaking of eating, I am back on my regular diet. I gained 13 pounds from eating like a fatty over the span of a month. There really is just no good way to eat well, when you have an overindulging mindset. It is hard the rest of the year to stay healthy but over Christmas and New Years forget it! I’m not mad or even worried about it though because I know I’ll get it back off, but it is crazy to think I just gained that all back haha. I knew I was when my work shirts got a bit tight. Oops! πŸ˜€

That is all for now, I hope you all have a great rest of the week, I’ll see you tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Better Evening & Asgardia!

Hey Everyone!

As you may know our little boy is sick with an upper respiratory infection. This is his third ailment in 5 months. This can be chalked up to bad luck and daycare. He stayed home from daycare yesterday because he still had a fever. Thankfully after being home all day, it subsided and he was able to go back today. He is still very congested and we feel really bad that we can’t do anything else for him. We are just going to continue to be there for him, and suck out his boogers haha. In all seriousness he is coughing up a bunch of mucus and it chokes him, following that he throws up all his milk. DOH! I’m pretty sure that is the recovering stage so that is good to know, but it is physically hard on him.

My wife and I are hoping and crossing our fingers that we don’t get sick again. We have both been sick each time he has, and that is no fun at all. We both have to take off time from work which we can’t really afford to do. With any luck our immune systems will get it together and help us out! Here is our boy last night and this morning. He is still no feeling well, but he sure is cute!

20171114_20420020171115_064914

One last thing. I found this while surfing the web, it is a move to start and build the first nation in space. It is out there, no pun intended, but this is a real thing. People are really doing this, and it may not be a terrible idea. Obviously they are a long ways away from a physical location in space, but they have a goal and the backing to get it done. it is called Asgardia, or the Kingdom of Asgardia. They just a few days ago launched their own digital satellite into low Earth orbit. You can read their constitution here and check out their plans. Let me know what you think!

I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weekend Update!

Hey Everyone!

I was unable to have a “Coffee Talk” on Friday. We, very oddly enough, were busy at work on a a Friday morning.

That being said I had a productive work day, and a great weekend. Saturday we tried our best to get some good sleep in. We didn’t have anything to do until we left around noon. Of course we got up and played with the babe. We left around noon to go back to my wife’s hometown. We would spend the day with her grandparents. Before that though we stopped at her dad’s house. This was to of course see them, and to get Everett his very first hair cut. Yes it has only been 5 months, but he came out with a head full of hair and it had to happen.

Here is Everett sitting with his grandfather and uncle! I think this was right before he got his hair cut. I don’t have a great before and after picture but it was a big difference.

20171104_163611

Here is him after the hair cut.

20171104_15434820171104_154524

His neck line is now all shaped up, and his hair around his ears is all trimmed nicely. He looks like a real little man haha. So cute.

I also got to spend some time with my little brother in-law Remington! Hes a handful. I introduced him to being tossed in the air and after that he never left my side haha.

signal-2017-11-05-095827

Again, back to spending the day with her grandparents. We left her dad’s and met her grandparents at Red Lobster. We ate a really nice dinner there and headed back to their house. Her grandfather makes wine, so I had to indulge. I don’t often get to really enjoy having a few drinks because we are always out with our boy, so it was nice to know we were in for the night and really have a few. Later that evening my wife’s brother and his family came over to see us. The real reason we were in town was for their son’s first birthday party, Sunday. We hung out with them and introduced Everett to him. It was cute, he is starting to walk on his own and looks like a little drunk guy.

My wife’s grandmother hurt her foot a while back and has it in a cast. She usually does everything around the house, including the cooking and cleaning. That next morning to help her out I made the breakfast for everyone and my wife helped clean around a bit. It was the least we could do. Afterwards we got ready for the birthday party.

Once we got to their barn, where they had the party, we showed Everett their goats!

20171105_130707

I’m not really sure what he thought about them haha. We currently live in the city, but if we ever get the chance to live out a bit further I would love to have chickens and goats!

This next picture is of the birthday boy himself! He didn’t destroy his cake the way other kids do, but he did enjoy himself and ate plenty of it.

20171105_142013

After they opened his gifts and had the cake we had to head home. Traveling with a baby is no joke! Just going all around with him all weekend was enough to make him fussy all last night. It is tough for him to get back in the swing of things after a weekend like that.Β  Once we were home we had clothes to wash, bottles to clean, and another birthday to celebrate!

That’s right, my dad’s birthday is technically today. We dropped all our crap at the door and headed back out to the buffet. Once we ate it was back to their house for some ice cream. It was very yummy! Then we finally got home for good. I gave Everett a bath and his hair naturally dries like this.

20171105_195408

And that was our weekend!

I hope you all enjoyed yours as well. I’ll be seeing you again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Welcome- Everett’s Birth Story.

Hey Everyone!

My wife has written a post that she has been working on for a while now. Please take the time to check it out. It is about the birth of our precious baby boy. Here is a sneak peak: (click the link to read the whole thing.)

“Moments before my son was born, I laid in the hospital bed, fighting back tears, holding my husbands hand. As my midwife and nurses shuffled around the room, preparing for my son’s birth, so many thoughts ran through my mind; what if I’m not meant to be a mother? What if something goes horribly wrong? What if he doesn’t like me? These thoughts seem childish and silly now, but in that moment I felt a sense of panic.

At 5:20 PM my son breathed his first breath. As the nurse laid him on my chest….”
