Middle Ground!

Hey Everyone!

I want to take this time to spotlight something I have been hooked on lately. As most of you know I watch a lot of YouTube. I have seen the Jubilee channel before and have watched some of their videos, and to be honest wasn’t that impressed. I have now found their series called Middle Ground. Look this up if you want to see some real talk, on many topics. They take two sets of people, put them in a small group. They have questions asked one at a time and chose to agree or disagree to each. They each have time to speak and converse about the topic. It is a small enough group that nothing gets out of control. It really is a great series, if you are curious at all please check it out. Here are some of the ones I have seen and enjoy.

(There is minimal arguing, and more coming together than you would think.)

There are plenty of topics discussed and it is fun to see both sides of any one particular issue.

I hope you enjoy this post and check these out! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Weird News Wednesday!

Hey Everyone!

Lets try this haha.

One student was credited with saving a squirrel’s life thanks to the hit show “The Office.”

There is a scene in one episode where they brought in a CPR trainer, to try and teach the people of the office, well CPR. She was using the stereotypical “Stayin Alive” song we all know and love haha. Natalie Belsito, a Central Michigan University student, saw the squirrel drowning in a pond. She saw it being slow to move and saw its head dipping under the water frequently. With the help of another person she was able to get the squirrel out of the pond. It is then that she noticed that it wasn’t breathing! She admitted to not really knowing CPR, but did remember the episode from “The Office.” She was quoted saying “I was literally signing that song as I tried to do it.”

Once the squirrel was breathing again she nursed it back to health in her room. Once she thought it was ready to be released that is exactly what she did. She, along with her group of friends, released it back into the wild campus! haha. Her twitter video captured it all.

In even more amazing news the Actor, Robin Lynch, who played Rose (the CPR Trainer) on “The Office” caught wind of this and Tweeted out to her. She congratulated her on saving the life of the squirrel. How amazing is that?

There, that is some nice pick me up news for ya! I hope this post has brightened your day, I know it brightened mine. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

I’ll be back again tomorrow, I hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Feel Good News!

Hey Everyone!

It is about 7:38am and I’m tired! We slept in the living room last night for ease-ability. With Everett not feeling well, for some reason, he sleeps better down there. I was stuck on the love seat, which isn’t exactly large enough to allow me any room at all. But, here I am and that isn’t going to stop me from getting stuff done today! πŸ˜€

I found a couple positive news stories that you probably didn’t hear about. This most likely because our mainstream media, of any kind, tend not to cover feel good stories all too often.

If you live in South Carolina you may have hear of this one. A 9 year old boy named Malachi Coffey is credited with saving a mans life. Allen Clemmons was working on his car when the car slid off the jacks and on top of him. He was pinned under the car for an hour. He was having trouble breathing and about to give up all hope. He gave out one more yell, before he called it quits, since he was in his backyard and not in a driveway or anything. After his last yell Clemmons saw Malachi running towards him. Clemmons did the best he could to instruct Malachi on how to get the jack back under the car and back off of the ground. He was able to get the car lifted high enough that Clemmons could escape. From here he was flown to a nearby hospital, where they found he had 6 broken ribs and a fractured pelvis. Clemmons told the media: “I don’t think I would have survived another 30 minutes, it was getting really hard to breathe. He is truly my guardian angel.” Here is a picture of Malachi and his mother:

Now wouldn’t you want to hear more things like that in the news? I would love to wake up and see this instead of who got shot where, and whether or not we are going to war with N. Korea haha.

This next one just really makes you think about how much goes on around us that we don’t really notice. A married couple, living in China recently discovered that they were once in the same photo decades before! While sitting down and going through his wife’s photo album to decided who their children resembled more, he instantly recognized himself in one of the photos! Apparently they were both by the seaside of Qingdao at the same moment. He was there because his mother had appendicitis and wasn’t able to go, so he took her place. She was only there because her mother just had an operation and wanted to visit the city to relax. He is quoted saying: “When I saw the photo, I was taken by surprised and I got goosebumps all over my body… that was my pose for taking photos. I also took a photo, it was the same posture, just from a different angle.”

Here you can see her picture with him in the background, as well as his picture from a different angle. Incredible! Neither one of them knew at the time that they just walked past their future partner. Again, it makes you wonder what you have missed, without even knowing it.

I hope those two feel good stories have brightened your morning! I’ll see you all again Monday! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Will You Be Following The Olympics?

Hey Everyone!

The winter Olympics are upon us! the coverage starts on the 8th (Tomorrow). The opening ceremony is on the 9th, those are always really cool to watch. These countries go all out.

There is some tension this year, like most years. This year may be a little more tense, with North Korea teaming up with their southern sister. This of course because of the looming Nuclear war, they may want to start. Also the Russians have been banned from this years winter Olympics, for doping the year before. Some Russian athletes are able to compete under a neutral flag, which is nice, since the actions of a few ruined it for the whole county. People spend their whole lives training to go to these games and compete for their country and now some of those people will not be able to do so. So yes some tensions will run a bit high this year, but I am hoping for the best. I want there to be nothing but good times at the games.

Here is a quick little schedule for the games.

If that is too hard to see you can check the schedule here.

I am a big fan of the freestyle skiing and snowboarding, curling, and biathlons. I’ll try to watch those if time permits. I really don’t worry about skating or luges.

What are some our your favorites? Do you watch the winter Olympics at all? Let me know in the comments below! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Net Neutrality…..AGAIN!

Hey Everyone,

Since I assume with the Word press thingy slowing my posts today I won’t get a ton of traffic. But there is a more important issue at hand. Today congress votes on the Net Neutrality issue and without it we could see things like what is going on with my page today. Fast lanes for paying more money and slow lanes everyday. You would pay for data like a phone and then be throttled. Big companies will be able to control who gets what and freedom of the internet will go away forever! Fight today and get a hold of your congress men and women.

Here are links to my other posts on this issue if you want to know more.

This one from May 10th: https://diariesofascatterbrain.com/2017/05/10/what-do-you-think-about-net-neutrality/

And this his one from July 13th of this year: https://diariesofascatterbrain.com/2017/07/13/the-battle-is-back/

Lets hope we still can save the internet! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Daddy -O-Five Update!

Hey Everyone!

A while back I posted about the ‘Daddy-O-Five’ scandal. If you are unfamiliar with it I leave a link to my first post. Riiiiiiiight…..HERE! Feel free to check it out.

Last we knew two of the five kids were living with their biological mother. That is still the case, and since that update we haven’t heard anything else. That is/was because there was a gag order and legal proceedings were going down. This has now been covered on multiple new outlets and of course back on YouTube. Heather and Mike Martin have now been charged with a 10 year suspended prison sentence, and 5 years probation for child neglect. Some may see this as going to soft on them and others may not. The gist is that if they break probation in any way they can serve up to 10 years in prison.

Here is a write up from Fox 5 News: Link

Another one from The Frederick News Post: Link

And lastly one from The Baltimore Sun: Link

If you want to hear it from the words of my man Philip DeFranco you can watch his take from here in this video: (Skip to the 7 min mark, not sure why my link didn’t work correctly)

It is pretty ridiculous to think that they got away with this crap for so long. It really makes your blood boil. I am personally please that the justice system has intervened and that this injustice was brought to light.

I’d like to end the post today by asking you the community, do you think they got off too easy? Do you think this is the end of the story? Let me know down below!

What’s Weird In The World Today?

Hey Everyone!

I have seen some weird things in the new lately and feel the need to share some of the stories with you! All too often we hear about the terrible things going on in the world. We tend to lose sight of the good news, as well as the weird/strange news. That is where today’s post comes in. I’m here today to help fill that void by offering up some links to some interesting news stories around the world.

Lets get started!

-Martha has won the crown of “World’s Ugliest Dog 2017.” I must say I don’t think she is very ugly, but she sure had a great time. She was rewarded with a large trophy and $1,500! Congrats Martha! πŸ˜€

-In Oregon on July 13th A vehicle was slimed! That’s right slimed, don’t believe me check it out riiiiiight……….HERE!

-This calf was born in Kerrville, Texas on the Ranch There seems to be a very striking resemblance to the Kiss front man Gene Simmons!

-May 13th of this year Verdun Hayes became the oldest skydiver in history. He is 101 years old. He was quoted after saying β€œBeautiful” , β€œI’d do it again tomorrow. I would, truthfully. It’s lovely.”

I hope this light hearted post has kept your interest. I enjoy finding these types of stories, about as much as I like sharing them. I’ll be back tomorrow, and hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Chester Bennington 1976-2017

Hey Everyone!

I was going to figure out how to write some stuff about my day today, but it is more fitting to speak about the death of Chester Bennington. For those of you who don’t know Chester, he is/was the lead vocals for the band Linkin Park. They have been a huge influence on my musical taste throughout the years. Simply it is sad and unexpected.

It has been noted that Chester did struggle with drugs and alcohol. Chester was found in his home yesterday at nine in the morning. He had hung hung himself. He left behind a wife and six children from two marriages.

I am very open about my thoughts on suicide, and every time I reevaluate it its still the same. I don’t believe anyone should commit suicide, ever. That is my opinion and I understand that people feel differently. Again, that is ok as well, not everyone thinks the same. I do understand that people all go through things differently, are afraid to show weakness and get any sort of help, or simply get in so deep they think they don’t have any other options. I understand why people commit suicide, that’s not what I have an issue with. IΒ  have an issue with the stigma of being weak for seeking help. I have a problem with the systems in place. I have a real problem with the way people are treated in general in this world. Those are my biggest issues regarding suicide as a ‘topic’ of discussion. I can’t help but think, if there is a different world, there isn’t even a word for suicide, because it doesn’t happen. A guy can dream can’t he?

You know when you see people in the lime light die for any reason, and you shrug it off? Then there are times when you really get hit hard by it? This is one of those occasion for me. Chester and Linkin Park have been a huge influence on millions of people, on many different levels. I hope they know the impact they have had on so many lives. He will be sorely missed. I wish this all played out differently.

I never knew the band as Xero, their old name, but I did know of them as Linking park from day one. Hybrid Theory is still one of my favorite albums to this day.Β  That came out in the year 2000. I was in middle school at the time and like any child, I was impressionable. They came out very edgy and relateable. As I grew up so did they. Their musical style changed with the changes of the world. They played what they loved, and didn’t lock themselves in a single genre. While I don’t love all of their newer stuff like I did when I was younger, I can appreciate it!

For those of you who wish to watch a few of my favorite Linkin Park videos I’ll post them below:

(2003) (Numb was 2003, the Collision Course was a mash up in 2004) AMAZING!

(2017) See what I mean by an evolutionary group!?

That’s just a few. You can really see their range throughout the years! It is incredible. Again, gone too soon, no matter the reason, too soon……….

The Battle Is Back!
