Happy Independence Day Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

I was going to make a regular post, then decided to do something a bit more patriotic, since I won’t be back until after the 4th! So here you go enjoy the memes! Happy Birthday America! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

In all seriousness, I want to say thank you to the all of the armed services, and recognize that this holiday weekend isn’t about parties, parades, and fireworks. On that same topic make sure that what every you are doing, be safe and have a great time! I’ll see you all on Wednesday! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

How Do Yo Save For College Expenses!

Hey Everyone!

Today’s post is a little later than normal for a few reasons, but it is here!I have been going over things in my head, and then over them again, and then one more time. I have been thinking all day about the best way to save money for my child, whether he goes to college or not, I want to be able to do more than support him. I would love to have it all covered. The reality is that it would be tough to do, but anything I can do to help I want to. I don’t want him to end up in the same situation I am, and I don’t want to look back and think I missed an opportunity!

So, that being said I’m still lost haha. Everywhere I turn on the internet I hear about a 529 investment plan, and for the most part that seems like the way to go. But there are down sides to it, as well. I, again, just want to know that I’m making a good decision with whatever I do. For those of you who are unaware of what a 529 investment plan is, I’ll leave you with this little video. It sums it up fairly well.

Seems pretty legit, but It gets a little weird when you think about fees and taxes, if my child chooses to not go to school. Yes you can take your money out but it would be hit with penalties. Along with that I would want to make sure that it wouldn’t effect the amount of Financial Aid my kid would be eligible for, if I wouldn’t be able to cover it all. Ya know? I don’t want a huge sum of money that is saved screw him out of the rest of the money he needs.

For some back story I went to a four year college, got a degree in five years, due to three different majors. I then looked for a career for over a year. Then went to a different school for another two years and got a second degree. This second degree is the only one I am utilizing. Round all of that out and taking out my own loans to make it through, I racked up a very impressive $116,000 in student loan debt through three different companies. Add that shit up with the amount we spent on our house and the small amount of debt my wife is in, and you have just under $250,000 of debt. This is the situation I would not like my child to fall into. That could be freakin cut in half if I didn’t have student loan debt. I’m 28 years old and drowning. I have it under control, so don’t worry too much, but I kick myself in the ass everyday, for not doing something different. Now this isn’t meant to bash my parents in anyway, but neither of them, or myself knew anything about this stuff going in. I was a kid still, I didn’t know anything. My biggest responsibility was to show up for school and football practice! I just want to be able to provide in anyway I can to help later.

I am meeting sometime later today with our HR lady to talk about the options through my work. They do have a college saving thing that I can enroll in. I would actually be the first person in the company to enroll if I did. I am also going to ask my boss, our accounting manager, and some other people around the office how they saved money for their children, and see what I can come up with.

So real talk, what have you done to save for your families future? I would love to hear from anyone who has gone through this stuff or will. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks for reading about my daily freak out! I hope to see you all back again tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜€ : D Here we come Friday!

Getting Excited For The Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

Last night was a fairly lazy one. The wife and I went to Taco Bell for dinner and brought it home. We also started watching Fuller House, even though we both really didn’t want to haha.

We weren’t sure we wanted to watch a bad reunion show that would be drug out too long. that being said we started watching anyway lol. It is a neat show and they incorporate things from the original series often. It is 100% cheesy, corny, what have you. But in a way it is cute and still really neat. I am glad they could get most of the cast back together, you don’t see that very often. They even call out the Olsen twins when they can about not signing up to be on the show.

Throughout the night my wife and I cleaned up around the house and put some of our crap away. Things have started to pile up lately, probably from living out of out living room. I was able to clear the dining room table so that you could actually see it! haha.

I am really excited for this weekend, even though I know it will fly by. I can’t wait to head to a wedding, play ball, go to the fireworks and celebrate the 4th! I’m pretty sure we are going kayak/canoeing with my brother and his wife. We are going to go to the Kinzua Dam and go down the Allegheny River. We haven’t been on the river at all this spring/summer so I’m ready to go!

We had another retirement lunch at work today for a guy in the shop. Which means, you guessed it, free lunch! Woo, can’t beat that. We had fried chicken, three bean salad, potato salad, veggies, fruit, and cake! It is a great day when you get free lunch haha.

The rest of the day will be pretty boring. I have to go home and mow my grass, and possibly go for a walk with the dog and the baby. I’m just plugging away waiting for Friday!

That’s all for me! I’ll be seeing you again tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Busy & Look Ahead

Hey Everyone!

Today will be another quick post. I am starving still after eating my lunch, which isn’t good since I have four more hours to go! I am very busy today, and running all over the place.

Over the weekend we didn’t do too much. I know that Sunday we played our normal two softball games and won them both. We stayed a bit later and played another team who had a forfeit. We are nice guys like that haha. So we had three games.

Over this next weekend I won’t have any posts until Wednesday. I have Monday and Tuesday off from work, for the holiday! YAY!!!

I really can use the break. It will be nice to have some time. We have a wedding to go to this Saturday. Monday we have the fireworks for the 4th, and Tuesday we have a parade that will go through town. We always have a nice picnic at my parents house after. This year we will have 10+ people there all from around the area, mostly family. It is nice when we can all get together and have a nice relaxing day of food fun and yard games.

Looking ahead to July, I will be busy at work since my co-worker is going to rome for a month! Jeez that must be nice. ๐Ÿ˜€ I have an Ingress picnic with the group of people I play with one weekend, an Alumni fraternity party/meeting another weekend, and a work bee a different weekend to get ready for our family reunion in August! All of this on top of having softball on Sundays haha.

That’s about it for me today! I hope you all are enjoying your Tuesday, as I am! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ I’ll see you again tomorrow! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Kubo And The Two Strings (2016)

Title: Kubo and the Two StringsKubo_and_the_Two_Strings_poster.png

Director: Travis Knight

Genre: Animation, Adventure Family

Rating: PG

Leads: Charlize Theron, Art Parkinson, Matthew McConaughey

Here we go again! This was a random pick from last night. If you were to ask me if I would have ever chose to watch this movie over something else, I would have said no. Just based on the look and title, it isn’t something that would really draw you in. That being said I was pleasantly surprised with this movie!

The movie 1 hour and 41 minutes long (101 minutes) Which on the surface seems long for an animated movie to me. The animation style is different, going for a more Asian theme, which fits this movie well. It isn’t something I am usually a fan of in feature films but it works. This movie has some very well known voice actors that I wasn;t even aware of until I looked them up. Some have very small roles but it is cool to see big name stars voicing a movie like this. You have Charlize Theron playing the Monkey, Matthew McConaughey playing the Beetle, as the big two.ย  Other notable names in short roles areย  George Takei as Hosato, Roony Mara voicing The Sisters, and Ralph Fiennes as the Moon King.

On to the plot! This movie is based around a small child, who is caring for his mother in a cave like structure. They were ship wrecked after fleeing her family. Her father and two sisters took her son’s (Kubo) eye, and killed his father. Her father being the Moon King, Kubo isn’t allowed outside after dark, for fear that they will find him and take his other eye. Kubo is a greatย  story teller in the small village close by. He uses his guitar and paper to create wonderful visuals to go along with his stories, but always has to cut his stories short due to the day ending. He never gets to finish his stories and leaves everyone hanging. One night an old women tells Kubo how he can communicate with the dead, so he tries to contact his father. In doing so he stays out after dark and that is when the movie starts getting good. Up until this point the movie is pretty slow and almost makes you not want to watch over an hour more. But I promise it gets better! The Sisters start chasing Kubo and the story takes off. With the help of his Monkey charm, the Beetle, and his mom’s left over magic he begins his quest. All of which is laid out in the movie, but I don’t want to ruin anything.

This movie has a different animation style than most other feature length animated movies. At first I wasn’t sure I would like it the whole time, but it fits well. The story goes into pretty good detail and the movie gets pretty deep. Which you may not expect from a movie like this. I think this movie really sets it self apart from other movies in similar genres. If you remember from my last review, I said that movies in these categories go up against the greats. they have to have something special to stand out and shine above the others. I think this movie does just that. You get a real sense of caring, and compassion when watching this movie. You quickly want certain things to happen, and everything to play out well for the main characters. This movie has conflict, high points, low points, and over all a great story line with great actors. his movie is a pretty complete package.

To sum it all up I would recommend this movie to everyone. It has themes that would keep children entertained and is interesting enough to keep the adults in the room satisfied! The acting is great, the story is great, and there isn’t much more to say.

I would give this movie a 7.7/10

Baby, Mobile Apps, & Opportunity!

Hey Everyone!

Another buys day for me. So that means another short post.

Our baby has his one month appointment today, meaning he is due for some shots! I bet he willlllll hate it. He didn’t think anything of them when we were in the hospital but that was then and this is now haha. We are still working on getting him on a decent sleep schedule, so that when my wife goes back to work we can get a little rest. We are going to meet with a potential baby sitter on the 5th of July, it is exciting because she has received a lot of praise from the people we have talked too, but they all say shes always booked. Well she has an opening and we are going to see whats up. Oh and here is his little one month old picture!

He is growing everyday and working on that neck strength haha.

In other news, since I haven’t had much time to play my normal video games I have resorted to mobile gaming. It is nothing like PC gaming in any way and the games are crap. I have found that ‘Golf Clash’ if fun for golf. It is simple and cartoony, you also play one hole at a time not a set of 9 or 18. Here is a YouTube video I made, quickly:

The other game I have been playing is ‘CSR Racing’ it is a simple construct but with amazing graphics.

You basically go up in the street racing ranks and modify you car and garage along the way. The controls are simple and the game is fun, to pass the time. You can join a crew and work together to get better perks, you can also race each other which isย  cool feature. You can do as much or as little as possible it is your choice. Both of these games, like most mobile games are pay to win kind of things, which is annoying but I get it.

It is Friday and I don’t really have any special plans for the weekend. Tonight after work and the baby appointment, I have to move our old mattress out of the house and replace it with the new one that came in the mail today. After that I don’t have any hard plans until softball sometime Sunday. I can take a little break and have a somewhat free weekend, that is alright by me.

A friend of mine on Facebook started working for MCA, basically posting ads about MCA products on social media. I am always skeptical about these offers and about how they all work, but she seems to be making real money. She was on maternity leave and never left once she started working for these guys. Since my wife is off I figured she might be interested too, who knows? Well she is curious, so I reached out to the girl and had her send information to my wife. Even if she does it part time on the side of her full time job, and extra money helps. I always just get worried about how the taxes get done on stuff like that. Is it taxed before it is deposited? After? or at the end of the year? I’m pretty sure you would have to make sure you have a 1099 form to write it all up if it is secondary income, but I hate that stuff and don’t know anything about it. It all seems too good to be true but if it is legit, she could make some real good money. Heck she could maybe quit her job and still make double her salary!

That’s all for me today, I hope you have a great weekend and I’ll see you back on Monday! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Busy Work Day & 1 Month Old Baby!

Hey Everyone!

I have a short amount of time to post and I am late already. I have been swamped with work today and that is a good thing! I cam in at my normal time, and started setting up the new PCs I got in the mail a day or so ago. While doing that and running updates I got pulled away to help rearrange someones office. They need me there to make sure that everything gets unplugged correctly and plugged back in the right way. I was helping a fellow co-worker through my lunch break, with a parts list for a PC build for his kid. He has a son that has saved up enough money to buy his own gaming PC. He wants to surprise him and throw in a couple hundred dollars more, as a good gesture and reward, for managing his money so well. His son built a complete parts list and he gave it to me to look over and change since he added more money to the budget. I can say that I have spec-ed out a pretty good full size gaming rig for the budget of $1200. His kid will love it! Later this afternoon I have spent my time helping one of our summer design engineer inters with his issues. He is having problems with his Auto CAD and Inventor programs crashing. It has happened a few days in a row and twice today, so it was time to do something about it. I researched a few things and think I found a solution to his problem. I reverted his PC to use Direct X 9 instead of 11, deleted the junk out of his temp folder, updated is graphics driver while disabling the on board Intel one, and changed a series of variables within the programs themselves for better performance. I know this all sounds like gibberish to you guys but it was a fun day filled with technical issues that really got my brain moving!

In other news I am feeling much better, even though I never got any answers from the doctors I spoke with. I won’t be feeling good when my $150 bill from the ER comes through though :/ the weather here is crappy, and I can’t really do anything so I, will continue to take it easy. I mowed my grass yesterday when it was still nice out so that is a plus!

My baby boy Everett is officially 1 month old today! Dear god, they aren’t kidding when they say it fly’s by! I can’t imagine what I’ll think when he turns 18 and leaves haha. He is working on the sleep thing, and has been working out those neck muscles. We are still camped out in the living room because it is easier for my wife in the middle of the night.ย  That and my dog peed all over our mattress and ruined it! We aren’t very fond of her at this moment haha.

That’s all for me, I’m sorry this is jumbled and ran together. Please forgive me! I’ll be back tomorrow, and I hope to see you all then. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Emergency Room Scare!

Hey Everyone!

Like I thought, I wasn’t really able to post anything yesterday. I sometimes have to cover for a co-worker when she is off work, and yesterday was one of those days. She works a funky shift, and it is hard to get anything going. On top of that like the title states we had a bit of an issue the night before, that shift. Everything is, seemingly, fine now but meh.

Lets start Monday morning. I signed up to give blood at work, like I always do. The machine for double red blood cells was free, and I asked if I was able to give more. They checked everything over and cleared me to give double reds. They basically take more of your red blood cells and in the process put your plasma and saline back in periodically. I have done this before and it has been no big deal. Towards the end I felt a little light headed but nothing out of the ordinary after losing two pints of blood haha. After I sat down and have a juice, brownie, and pretzels to keep my energy up. I returned to work like normal and ran through the rest of my day. Later that evening I ran to Lowes with my brother and got a chest freezer and groceries with my wife. I kept the “heavy lifting” to a minimum, but maybe I still over did it. It was early to bed since I had to get up much earlier, but when I got off the couch I got some weird blurry vision and my head felt really weird. I went up stairs and started having a panic attack. So that surely didn’t help anything. I told my wife to pack up the baby and take me to the ER. I was feeling better for the most part but wanted to check it out anyway. I forgot to mention when they put in the needle to take my blood it wasn’t going in my vein easy so they have to mess with it. The doctor said that the red on my arm could be a blown vein or hematoma.

Either way I knew that it would bruise, I just didn’t think this was normal. I also had a weird fluid like pain in my ears when I moved my head, as well as a funny feeling in the back of my sinuses. The ER doctor and my aunt, who is in the medical field both thought it had nothing to do with giving blood, but I can assure you that none of this happened until right after I did. I slept that night and woke fine in the morning. Worked my early shift and went home. Once home I started getting a headache and that intense ear pain again. I still haven’t got any answers! I slept fine again and feel great yet again. I’m curious to see how tonight will go. Am I going to have this crap happen again? Who knows.

So long story short I didn’t have anything to post yesterday haha.

Here at work I did get my cork board and had it hung up!

I can now see all my stuff without having to find a file somewhere else. Yippie! I’m gearing up to work on a few more PCs that just came in the mail, and get ready to cover my other co-worker since he will be off for about a damn month in like two weeks. He is going on a church mission to 11 countries in Europe! How fancy is that? I wish I wasn’t afraid to fly because I would love to go to Europe.

Anyway that is about all from me today. I’ll keep you posted on anything new and exciting. Oh, I also finished the 5th season of “Orange is the New Black.” I won’t say anything because I know most people still haven’t finished it, but it is pretty good!

I’ll be back again tomorrow. I hope to see you then! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Projects, Picnic, Softball, Blood Drive!

Hey Everyone!

I had a super busy weekend, but a successful one! There were a few minor set backs that were weather related so I had to find the best way to still get everything I wanted done. Over the course of the weekend I was able to fully redo the paint and carpeting on my porch and stairs. I have a few really neat side by side pictures below:

First is the bare wood floor after I ripped up the old stuff and after I put down the new!

Next we have the terrible cemented stairs before and after painting. I know they suck but I hate cement and I was sick of it haha.

Lastly we have the carpet down the stairs covering up the blemishes and protecting the stairs from future weather.

I may go back through and paint over the areas where the glue is showing, but I’m not sure yet. It will probably chip off easy enough once it is super dry .

Saturday was our company picnic. We stopped off at a local drive in diner, and ate with my wife’s grandma and mother. They have great milkshakes and well, everything.

From there it was off to the amusement park. We brought the baby, so some of the people I work with could see him for the first time. We also wanted to see how he would handle traveling a bit farther than normal. If you were wondering it went smoothly! Here are just a few shots of the park:

Of course, we had to hit up my favorite ride. The train! I don’t ride rides so the train gives me all the excitement I need haha.

Sunday was of course Father’s Day. This year I am a father, which feels super weird. My wife got me this awesome key chain. It is a really neat idea.

I actually woke up Sunday and finished the carpeting on the stairs first, then went and played softball. Our games sucked. We played like crap in the field and had too many errors. We lost the first game very convincingly. The second game was against arguably the best team in the league and we should have beat them but we gave it away. That game ended with a score of 32 to 31 in the bottom of the 7th. :/

After ball my brother and I got cleaned up and headed to my parents house to celebrate the day further. We had burgers and hot dogs on the grill. The two cousins were there together so we had a few pictures.

It was a great weekend overall. We had some heavy storms Sunday and rain on Friday but it was all good in the end!

Today At work we have a blood drive. I totally forgot all about, thats why this post is a bit late. I signed up to give double reds. I was surprised when the girl hooking me all up was a girl I went to high school with! I haven’t seen her in a full 10 years, so it was nice catching up with her while I was over there.

That’s all from me folks! I hope you had decent weather and were able to enjoy the weekend to the fullest extent. I may or may not be on here tomorrow. I come in to cover someone elses shift and have to be here at 6am blah! We will see. Have a good one! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

OK on to the questions!

  • If you could change one thing about our country, what would it be and why?
    • At this point I would like to see unification of the country as a whole. I know it will most likely never happen because everyone will always have different ways of seeing things, but if we could handle things like adults it would sure help haha. We could be progressing far past other countries in multiple areas and aren’t ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Fingers Crossed!
  • Which super hero powers would you like to have, if given a chance? Why ?
    • Well since to this day “powers” aren’t real, I suppose I could make up my own right? I would like to have the power to choose any power at will! Loophole!!!! At any given time I would like to be able to choose a power based on my situation. If I have to fly away I can, but if I have to fight I want to be able to choose strength. See what I’m sayin? Are you picking up, what I’m putting down?
  • What motivates you to blog (write) ?
    • Well at the start I was just bored on my lunch break….but now I have come to enjoy sorting my thoughts. I have also evolved my blog like a Pokemon, in that I offer reviews and news now. I feel it adds a bit more depth for my readers, and I always want to please them! ๐Ÿ˜€
  • What is something you like to collect, if anything?
    • I used to have a stamp collection, but I grew out of that. I would like to start collecting more Funko Pop Vinyls, I only have three right now.
  • If given the chance to rename any fast food restaurant, which would it be? ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย What would itโ€™s new name be?
    • Well I would have to rename my favorite fast food spot, that is close to my proximity. This is because I want it to be a place that I would visit or drive by often. I would also want to name it after myself because how many opportunities would you have to do this ever again? None! So that being said I would rename Wendy’s to Cale’s and instead of her face you could stare at my ugly mug! haha

I would like to keep the questions the same, for my nominees! I’ll re-list them here so you can just copy and paste them. See look at me helpin out! ๐Ÿ˜€
