Change.

Hey Everyone!

As I’m sure you have already seen there are major changes to my blog.

To get right to it, I’m growing tired of trying to post everyday. Some days have more content than others and sometimes I get super busy at work. For those reasons I’ll be stepping back a bit, and not daily blogging.

I have taken my premium away, gone to a default theme, and change back to my free domain name. With this change, for at least now, I’ll post when I have things to talk about. I would still like to keep this blog to chronicle some of my son’s life and things like that so for now it will stay. My ultimate goal would be to create my own website, built by me, for me and my family. I have been learning HTML and CSS, and hope that with some more added ‘free’ time I can work on it.

I felt like i was becoming a bit stagnant with the current set up and don’t want that to be the case. If I ever do stop blogging here for good I’ll be sure to let you all know, you can all still feel free to follow me on Instagram as I’ll still be posting things there. You can find me @nrgmandrake

I hope you all understand, as this is sort of a tough decision for me since this has become a major part of my life. I didn’t make this choice on a whim, but I do think it is for the best.

I hope to see you all around when I post! When those days come I’ll be sure to hit you up as well. With added free time I may even be able to strike up a conversation with you instead of posting and running haha.

I hope you all have a great weekend and I’ll see you when I see you! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Bit of Everything!

Hey Everyone!

Back on track a little bit today. Things are a bit more ‘normal’ you could say.

I got to get my hands a bit dirty today with some of our hardware in the server room. We are making room for a new setup to allow a mirrored set of servers running virtual servers. We are also making room for a new cloud backup, and a high availability array, to store over 9 terabytes of data. That was sort of fun and scary all at once. We were doing all that in a live environment. If anything was to get unplugged it would could have taken down a server that was currently in use, and mess some stuff up.

We had some left over cookout food from yesterday. That made for a nice lunch again today. I have also been binge watching Dr. Who season 5-11 which is only on Netflix in Europe, I believe. I have a new web browser that I am using. It is called Opera and it has a built in VPN or virtual private network, which makes it near impossible to trace back your location. Since I have mine on Netflix thinks I’m currently in Sweden. Its really cool actually.

I have a Masonic practice scheduled for tonight at 7 pm. We are going to cover the 2nd degree a bit since next week we have to preform one on our newest member. We shouldn’t be too long tonight since we should have most of it down pretty well.

That is all that is going on today! I hope you all have a great Wednesday and I’ll see you again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Cookout!

Hey Everyone!

I’m very late today but things were weird at work today.

This will have to be a really short post, and that is ok.

The reason things were weird was due to a cookout that our new VP promised. It was determined that if we as a company made it to less than 1000 over due hours that he personally would cook for everyone in the company.

Well sure as shit, it happened and today he was cooking most of the day. πŸ˜€ We had lunch at three separate times today. Each group of lunch goers was over 50 people and he just kept cooking for the two or so hours that lunch ended up taking. To make it even better it was raining almost all day. He was out there with his raincoat slaving away. It was a great way to boost moral and he stood by what he said so that is great.

That takes me to here, late, and ready to leave work. The rest of the work day was kind of thrown off, so things didn’t really get accomplished for our department today.

Thats it for me today! I hope you had a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

What a Great Weekend!

Hey Everyone!

We have made it back to Monday. I did not want to get out of bed this morning. The morning temperature is perfect for sleeping all day. I made it to work and have been busy all day! I haven’t sat down until lunch. I’m kind of exhausted. :/

This weekend was fun! Saturday my sister in-law came in to town to hand out with her sister, and it was my mother’s 62nd birthday! There were 9 adults and 3 kids at dinner, thats quite a bit. Everett was dancing to the juke box the whole time we were there.

1

After that we headed to my parents house and had brownies and ice cream.

3

Sunday morning we got up and had some breakfast and hung out in the living room, before my wife’s sister left.

2

My wife wanted to edit some pictures, since we took some family ones the night before. Everett had other plans.

4

We decided that it was a beautiful day and that we were going for a bike ride. Here was Everett’s riding outfit!

8.jpg

We went down to the local bike and hike trail and rode most of it and back to the house. I’m guessing that it was about a 4 to 5 mile ride. It was perfect weather for it.

Later that evening we accompanied my wife while she took some senior pictures for a girl that came from over an hour away. I took a couple behind the scenes shot for her.

67

Everett and I were playing with the rocks and in the grass while she was busy. Here is looks super cute trying to come down the hill.

5

He had a less than graceful way of getting down said hill…as you can see.

Annnnnd that was my weekend! I hope you had a great one as well. I’ll see you back again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

I’m Back!

Hey Everyone!

I was off yesterday, and was busy on Wednesday. I was off yesterday in full to meet with an electrician for my dining room and I had a doctor appointment.

I was able pretend that Wednesday was a a bit like its own Friday, which was fun. I got to sleep in Thursday and hang out with my buddy! While my wife started work, we built a small fort.

20180920_092423.jpg

We proceeded to play a game of hide and seek around it.

He went down for his nap around 10:30. This ended up being perfect, because the electrician came at about 10:45. He told me his hourly rate was $75 and that they would assess the situation for the first hour if needed and let me know from there what work would need to be done. He let me know that they could fix the two lights and that the rest could stay in the walls. So that will keep the cost down! πŸ˜€ I was expecting a bill in the thousands to replace it all and now I’ll be getting a bill in the hundreds to just fix the issues which is what I want.

Later that day I went to the doctor to discuss my bio screening. I have high cholesterol and blood pressure. She was the best doctor I have seen in a long time. She takes her time and explains things to you. She said to be more worried about my blood pressure than anything because if it stays high it will enlarge my heart and make it weaker sooner. I will be monitoring my BP at work with our nurse and relaying the results to her over the next couple weeks. She told me to stay off the caffeine and salt, as they are the worst for it.

Tomorrow is my moms birthday and we are going out to a nice dinner. My sister in-law is coming and staying the night as well. Our weekend will be again full of family and fun. I will see you all again on Monday with an update! Hope to see you then. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Voices!

Hey Everyone!

I’m a bit late today, but had a few things to tie up before I could hop on here. There hasn’t been anything too exciting from the last time I posted so this will be pretty short.

Everett was having a terrible day yesterday, and we really aren’t sure why. He was really screaming, like not a baby fake cry. It was getting kind of scary for a bit. He has been teething quite a bit, but never had any fever. We weren’t sure if he had a stomach ache or what but it wasn’t good. It was pretty non stop, we let him have some Tylenol and that didn’t seem to stop any type of pain that he was feeling. We finally laid him down to bed early hoping that he would just pass out. Good news was that he did. πŸ˜€ He woke up feeling much better from what I could tell.

Since I don’t have a bunch of content for today, I’ll share some videos that I have been watching lately. I have been on a language and voice kick for about a week and I’m more into it than I though I would be. Here is one on fictional languages from film and TV:

The rest are from Sam Johnson who is a voice teacher. He analyzes singing voices.

These should keep your interest peaked for a bit, I hope!

That is all from me today, I hope you all have a great Tuesday! I just found out that we are going to Olive Garden for dinner so my day got a bit better haha. I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Birthday, Cabin, & Dam!

Hey Everyone!

We had a very busy weekend. It all kicked off Saturday morning. My wife got up and got ready to go visit with her dad and get her hair done. Everett and I were flying solo most of the day.Β  Once the both of us got ready we headed out my niece Rory’s second birthday party! It was pink and Minnie Mouse themed in many ways.

1a1b

She got a nice 6V four wheeler that Everett and the others were all curious about.

2a

Being a bit shy, like he is, he stayed away from most of the other kids. I think a lot of it has to do with the small age difference. It won’t matter in a year but right now they are talking and running around better than him still. He did get some one on one time with that four wheeler though haha.

4

I plopped him down on it twice and pushed the button to make it go for him, while we drove it around in the grass. He seemed to like riding it. Later we headed over to the nearby play ground for some more fun. Here is Everett, who climbed up the stairs on his own, and his cousin Rory.

5

Then my brother Nathan followed Everett through the tube haha. Everett wasn’t sure what to think about that.

6

This was his way of telling me that he wanted to go down the slide.

7

We hit that slide about 20 times. Then just another shot of him climbing those stairs again.

8

My grandparents came down too. They were at our other cousins second birthday party just before and made it down to Rory’s. Everett was trying to put his great grandpa’s cane in his cup holder haha.

9

Here is my grandma holding my other niece Bridget who is just over two months old, and my dad and brother holding Everett.

10

Rory and Everett were on a path right to each other in this picture.Rory tried to kinda hug/kiss him in passing haha.

11

Then just real quick another picture of my baby niece! πŸ˜€

12

Everett and I finished out the night doing some laundry then hanging out at my parents place so they could see him some more.

Sunday we had quite a bit going on. I headed out to camp only for a couple hours, since what my dad decided to do with the ceilings looks terrible. We made progress never the less. My brother’s friend Dave came to help out as well.

13

We added 24 more cross supports to attempt a flat ceiling. This is where we all got mad. My dad decided that we wont’ put the boards flush and that they will just overlap and be rounded. Which is very ugly and we all hate it but he doesn’t seem to care. :/

14

Here you cal see that they are just putting them up and leaving the extra. Why? Again, no one knows. Its ugly.

Later I met with my wife while my mom watched Everett at home, for some pictures. She want to start advertising ‘Adventure Themed’ engagement and wedding pictures. She got a sister of a friend of hers to come down after their wedding to get these taken. I take some behind the scene shots for her to have as well.

The last spot in that tour was at a boat launch where we put them in a row boat and I took the drone up and took some shots from above that I don’t have back yet. We mad it home, had some dinner, and got ready for bed.

I told you we were busy haha. I hope you had a great weekend, I know we did. I’ll be back again tomorrow, hope to see you then! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Around The Water Cooler!

Hey Everyone!

A bit late today but never the less, I am here.

I had a few unexpected events happen today. First I was asked by my coworker to go give blood. It was out of the blue and I hadn’t done it in a while so I figured, why not? So around 10:45am we left the office ans went and gave blood across town. It was at his wife’s place of business so it was laid back and kinda fun.

Later, after we arrived back at the office, I was invited to go out to lunch with one of our vendors. This particular vendor comes from an hour and a half away and hits multiple client spots all in the same day. This time he was taking us out to lunch and just chatting about our current projects. We went to a nice little dive in town that I had never eaten atΒ  before, surprisingly. I ordered a turkey panini with cajun french fries. It was really good! I’m going to have to take my wife there some time soon.

In other news Everett woke up today not feeling well, I guess. My wife called me and told me that he was just laying and staring. He wasn’t very active and looked like he wasn’t having a good morning. 😦 He seemed fine last night and slept all night without any issues. She thinks that he may be just teething and we both hope it is nothing more. I just text her and she said he was playing a bit more than he was, so hopefully he is feeling better.

This weekend we have a few things to do around the house, like taking down our pool and possibly our umbrella in the yard. Saturday we have my niece’s second birthday party, down at the park where we play softball. It should be a good time, and if Everett is up for it, he can play with his cousins. I’m not sure if we have anything going on Sunday, but we may go work on the cabin some more to try and button things up for winter.

That is all from me today. I hope you all have had a great Friday, and I hope you have a great weekend! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Screening Day!

Hey Everyone!

I had my biometric screening this morning, and haven’t been feeling ‘it’ today. I had to fast for a long time and didn’t even get to eat until about now. My results came back, as expected. Everything that should be low is high and everything that should be high, is low. I think I knew that going in, and I’m ok with it. I now have my fact sheet that I can bring with me to the doctor. I, with any luck, will be able to get some medicine to regulate my stuff. Taking a pill everyday, until I die, isn’t ideal but it doesn’t seem like it will get better. So it may be time to bite the bullet and let something external help me with my health goals.

I have been back on my diet game a little bit lately. I started around 230 pounds again, and am down to about 224 currently. I again m just watching what I eat and the amount of times I eat per day. I have been eating instant oatmeal for breakfast, a Lean Cuisine meal for lunch and a somewhat normal dinner. I have cut out snacking almost entirely unless I can’t take it then I only want things like nuts, or juice. I think that paired with heart meds would make me feel a lot better.

In other news I have an electrician in mind for my lighting issues at home. They are a legitimate company and I hope they also don’t blow me off. They are out of state, I’m not sure that matters, but they seem like they have their stuff together better than the other guy who still hasn’t contacted me. I actually have to call them back to see when they have me penciled in.

That is all for me today! I hope you all have a great day, and I’ll see you all again tomorrow!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Not A Great Day!

Hey Everyone!

Sorry I missed out on posting yesterday.

It wasn’t a great day for me. I was informed at work that I did not stay in the running for my boss’ position here at work. That stings even if you are mostly sure you wouldn’t get it anyway. I am ok with it, but it isn’t ever something you want to hear, ya know? I was told that I was impressive and that I made the decision harder than they had initially thought, which is a huge plus. I let them know that I was willing, able, and ready to move up. My boss said that he told the rest of the interviewers that I would be a great leader one day, whether it was here or somewhere else. He has always had my back and continues to even entering retirement shortly. The rest of my day, at work, fell flat. I didn’t care to do anything and rode it out.

When I got home I stayed in my work clothes because we had an electrician coming at 4:30-5:00pm. Well long story short he just…didn’t show up. Who does that? I know that plumbers and electricians have jobs that run over and everything. That is understandable, but to not call your next solidified appointment to let them know is a dick move. So I sat and waited until about six and then figured he wasn’t going to show for real. I still haven’t heard from him at all. I’m going to be calling a few other people today, I guess. I need some one to come in and do the damn work, plain and simple. If someone was willing to pay me to do my job, I’d do it. I’m not sure what is so hard about this concept. So we are still stuck with no answers, or solutions.

Work is doing slow today, as I am posting early. The one thing I am looking forward to is just after work. A few of us are meeting at a local bar in town to ‘send off’ our Human Resources Assistant, who is moving to Virginia. We are just going to have a drink or two and tell her good bye.

Tomorrow I have my Bio-metric screening at work, and will have to fast for 10-12 hours. They will check our vitals, as well as cholesterol. They then give us a print out of all the results so that we can take any action if needed. I will most likely need to take mine to my doctor, as my results have been high the last three years. :/

That is all for me today. I hope you all have a great Wednesday, and I’ll see you all again tomorrow! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
